  3. One Fortnite player shared an image of an unreleased skin, claiming that their friend found a bot wearing the outfit in a public lobby. Most recently, Fortnite OG was released without any bots at all, which pleased a large portion of the community. However, skill-based matchmaking was quickly implemented, introducing bots into the classic game mode. View the full article

  6. Navigating through all of the week two quests in the Blast from the Past event in The Sims 4 is essential if you want to claim the special event rewards. One of the trickier tasks you need to complete requires you to study a historical display at a museum. This task is a bit misleading and possibly a bit bugged too, which makes getting it done decently tough. If you’re stuck on this one, here’s how to study a historical display at a museum in The Sims 4. View the full article

  11. The new season of Apex Legends is an exciting one, with players eager to dive in and try out the suite of changes in the game. Unfortunately for many players, an “untrusted system file” error code is delaying those plans, but some intrepid legends have already found a solution. The new season of Apex launched today, and the season 24 changes made so far feel fun. The weapon buffs and late-game armor nerfs have made fights feel much faster and force you to rethink how you approach enemies, while Ash’s buffs to her dash are snappy and fun to use. None of that matters if you can’t even get into the game, however, and some players encountered the “untrusted system file” error on PC whenever they tried to open their games after the season update. 12. A fate worse than death, or at least slightly inconvenient in The Sims 1, is having their Sim turn into a zombie. With the new release of The Sims 1 and 2 in a legacy collection for the game’s 25th anniversary, a new generation of players will have unfettered access to every expansion pack ever released and all the strange content inside. 15. Capcom is adding a number of new features to the series with Monster Hunter Wilds, the biggest of which is arguably the title's open world. Monster Hunter titles usually have reasonably large environments that tend to be more famous for their density, but these environments are put in separate instances behind loading screens. Wilds requires no loading screen to enter hunting areas, and I could venture right out of camp into the Windward Plains in the game's latest beta to get a feel for a portion of the world. 17. Less than a day after announcing their plans to reset Marvel Rivals players' Competitive Mode ranks, NetEase Games is crying Uncle (Ben?). After being swamped by a tsunami of "negative feedback, " the rising star hero-shooter has pulled the plug on what many fans have labeled its first big misstep. Word that Marvel Rivals players would lose their hard-won competitive ranks came in a Dev Diary Post about the big mid-season patch set to drop on February 21, 2025. In its defense, the post wasn't all bad news: it confirmed that the patch will add Human Torch and The Thing to the game's roster, finally uniting all members of the Fantastic Four together as playable heroes. However, most Marvel Rivals players (myself included) were far more interested in the news that the patch would also shave our ranking of the game in Competitive Mode down to half of what they were pre-patch. Marvel Rivals rewards players who reach certain ranks with unique costumes and "Crests of Honor they can proudly display on their plate profiles, so losing these ranks could cut players off from receiving rewards they practically broke their fingers to collect. Within minutes of this announcement going live, Marvel Rivals players descended on social media like a fleet of Ultron units. Reddit posts like this one made it clear as crystal that an overwhelming majority of fans weren't happy about this decision, and users on X (formally known as Twitter) punctuated that opinion with some hilarious but frustration-fueled posts. [Hidden Content] Luckily, NetEase Games responded to their player base's ire almost immediately. In a second Dev Diary Post uploaded just hours after the one that started all this, the dev team announced they were quashing the planned rank cut. Acknowledging the massive backlash the decision unleashed, NetEase confirmed that players' ranks will remain untouched until Season 1 ends and that players who've reached "Gold III" rank will receive the exclusive Blood Shield costume for Invisible Woman. [Hidden Content] While there's bound to be some lingering ill-will, the breakneck speed with which NetEase addressed their concerns shocked and delighted Marvel Rivals players. Other hero shooter dev teams would have taken days, if not weeks, to acknowledge a controversial move on their part, let alone address it. By mending a bridge that wasn't even broken yet, NetEase has confirmed its commitment to its fans. If responses like this Reddit post are anything to go on, Marvel Rivals players are grateful for the change and willing to forgive, sending a message other game developers might want to listen to. 18. New Line Cinema just shared the first look at Karl Urban as Johnny Cage for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2, and this has the potential to be the best rendition of the character yet. The upcoming sequel to the Mortal Kombat movie reboot from 2021 had been silent for too long. The studio knew it had to break the silence in the most hype way possible, and it sure did. We'd known Karl Urban would be playing Johnny Cage in the new movie for a while, but this is the first time we get a look at the character, and he looks just right. [Hidden Content] Anyone unaware of Johnny Cage's persona might get the impression they're looking at a regular Duke Nukem impersonator, but there are a lot of cool elements at play here. The character of Johhny Cage is a true badass, but he's also a movie star in the world of Mortal Kombat, meaning he needs to have his badassness comedically exacerbated by 200% for the public. Thus, we got the perfect reveal via a fake poster from an '80s style action slop blockbuster with lots of explosions, motor bikes, leather jackets, and what I assume is a pair of $500 sunglasses. Why Karl Urban is the best choice to play Johnny Cage As most Mortal Kombat fans know by now, the character of Johnny Cage was inspired by Jean Claude Van Damme, but the studio couldn't get Van Damme to play Johnny Cage in the first movie. Lynden Ashby, the actor who played Cage in the OG Mortal Kombat, absolutely nailed the part he got, but, through no fault of his own, couldn't capture the entire nature of the character. That's because the meta aspect of the character required a real-life action star playing a ****** guy who was actually unsure of his combat prowess. One of the surprisingly great things about the original Mortal Kombat rebook was the comedy. Props go to Josh Lawson, who played Kano, for making the movie worthwhile with his brilliant comedic takes alone. This time we have Urban, a fan-favorite action star with great comedy chops of his own, so I'm sure that part is once again more than covered. Mortal Kombat 2 is set to release on October 24. The post Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage has been revealed, and he looks realer than ever! appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article

  25. The last two entries to the franchise, includingAssassin’s Creed Shadows, have continued to promise a return to the franchise’s roots. While some elements of this promise have come true, it is impossible for the franchise to progress backward.
