  2. As we all wait patiently in the GTA 6 waiting room, some players are coming up with wild theories that might sound good at first but are pretty easy to see through for more experienced fans. GTA 6 is set to release in Fall 2025, meaning sometime between September 22 and December 21 with Rockstar's release history hinting at when preorders could go live. With no official gameplay details yet, we have no idea what systems will be added, removed, or changed compared to GTA 5. That hasn’t stopped players from dreaming up ideas while waiting for a second trailer or an official gameplay reveal. The idea of a more "realistic" weapon system in GTA 6 An idea that has returned recently in the GTA 6 community is a more realistic approach to weapon inventory. Since the start, GTA has always let players carry multiple weapons without any visible storage—your character can hold a pistol, a minigun, and everything in between, switching between them instantly like a personal cloud armory. Some players are now suggesting that GTA 6 should follow a system more like Red Dead Redemption 2, where characters can only carry a limited number of weapons at a time—maybe a pistol and one or two larger weapons, plus an explosive if they have a backpack. Other weapons would need to be stored in a truck or car trunk. If a player needed to switch weapons mid-mission, they’d have to physically go back to their car, swap guns, and then continue. [Hidden Content] While that might sound appealing to fans of more realistic gameplay—especially as many recent games lean toward realism—it would obviously be one of the worst possible ideas for online gameplay, assuming GTA 6 continues the online experience. Why a realistic inventory could ruin GTA 6 online Imagine this realistic inventory, and that you’ve stored your best weapons in your car, and another player comes along and blows it up. Now, you’re stuck with whatever weapons you were holding, and everything else is gone. Of course, one way to fix this would be if GTA 6 automatically restores a player's weapons when they retrieve their car from insurance. But even then, it would completely change how GTA Online is played. It would likely lead to players going around the map blowing up cars just to troll others and leave them empty handed for a while. Personally, I don’t like this idea because part of GTA’s magic is its exaggerated realism. The fun of the series comes from the chaos—massive explosions, running over cars with trucks, and switching weapons on the go without worrying about how big they are. Adding this kind of realism would be a huge change, and I doubt many fans would welcome it. I wouldn't. While this is just a wild suggestion from some fans looking for something different, it’s unclear whether Rockstar will make major changes to core gameplay features. We’ll likely have to wait for a second trailer, a gameplay reveal, or another major update as we get closer to GTA 6’s Fall 2025 release window. 13. A bunch of playtester footage for the next, modern-day-set Battlefield game has slipped past EA's non-disclosure agreements and erupted all over social media. The footage stems from the company's Battlefield Labs community testing program, and consists of multiple consecutive minutes of burly shootyfolks running down alleyways through showers of grit, firing very briefly at enemy troopers, and getting themselves bullet-bonked back to the lobby screen. EA PR have been taking the videos down, but have seemingly now decided to let them roll. It's the kind of tactical withdrawal in the face of overwhelming numbers that seldom occurs to me when I play Battlefield, because I always play Battlefield in the character of a movie extra. 22. At the time of writing, Season 1 of Marvel Rivals is ongoing with 37 heroes in total. However, some fans believe that the playstyles of certain Marvel characters are not exactly lore-accurate. Wolverine, Magneto, and ****** Widow are some of the names that have caught the most attention among the community, as discussed in this post on X. Wolverine tops the list, with several players claiming his "Auto Regen should be quicker." Several other fans agreed with the statement and chimed in their own thoughts, with one player echoing, "He should auto-regen and very quickly too." In the comics, the mutant heals at an accelerated rate, which means his damaged cells and tissues get repaired in just a few seconds, and it gives him an edge in any sort of fight. Another player added that Wolverine could have a "tracking/wall climbing" ability as his Adamantium claws could allow that. [Hidden Content] Moving on to Magneto, one player thinks he's a "good character," but when it comes to executing his in-game abilities, it's been "horrible." Another chimed in, "Magneto should be able to at least hover to some degree," just like he does in the comics and movies. "Magneto ultimate should let him lift enemies and slam them," said another. On the other hand, one player feels that "****** Widow suffered THE MOST." "Her kit sucks cause all she has is a sniper, batons, and a kick. Home girl is trained to hold any kind of weapon, and all she got was a sniper." "****** Widow needs immediate rework," echoed another. Some other notable mentions from the hero pool include Adam Warlock, Spider-Man, Hela, and the Hulk. Among all the claims, a particular player said, "Every character is damn near perfect. They focused more on the original content (comics) than the movies. They just need to keep going all out." "The lore changes every time a new fad comes around. All the characters are flawed but still fun to play. The constant tweaking and new characters are great," said another. At the time of writing, it's difficult to say whether NetEase Games will bring all the requested changes to the characters mentioned above. Nevertheless, Marvel Rivals is a fun game to play, and with the arrival of the new limited-time Clone Rumble game mode, it'll get even more chaotic. 23. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach officially releases on June 26, exclusively for PlayStation 5. Now that we’ve finally seen more of Hideo Kojima’s second Death Stranding title, we also know that, for now, it will remain a PlayStation exclusive. Just like the original Death Stranding, which launched on November 8, 2019 and only came to PC on July 14, 2020, Death Stranding 2 will be locked to PS5 for the foreseeable future. Death Stranding 2 is not releasing on PC—at least not yet There is no confirmed PC release date for Death Stranding 2, meaning the game won’t be available on any platform outside PlayStation when it launched on June 26. Whether it’s Steam, the Epic Games Store, or a standalone release, there’s currently no sign of a PC version. [Hidden Content] The reason for this could be Kojima Productions’ partnership with Sony, which initially made Death Stranding a PlayStation exclusive. Given how well Kojima’s games perform, it’s likely that the partnership was successful, leading to a renewed deal for Death Stranding 2. However, neither Sony nor Kojima Productions have officially confirmed whether this exclusivity is due to a contract or simply a studio decision to focus on PS5 first. Destructoid has reached out to Kojima Productions for comment. The original Death Stranding took about 8 months to make the jump from PlayStation to PC. Based on that timeline, if Death Stranding 2 does eventually release on PC—which is not guaranteed—it wouldn’t be expected until at least February 2026. At least until then, and possibly until way later or even forever, only PS5 players will have access to Death Stranding 2. Death Stranding 2 being a PS5 exclusive could drive console sales There’s no specific reason why Death Stranding 2 wouldn’t come to PC, especially as a game from Hideo Kojima. In most cases, exclusivity comes down to contracts that provide benefits for both the studio and the platform. If Sony has secured exclusivity, it means they see Death Stranding 2 as a hardware seller—if enough players want to play the game, they may be more likely to buy a PS5. This could be a strategic move for Sony, especially as the PS5 generation nears its later years. The release of the PS5 Pro last year also plays a role—some existing PS5 owners may upgrade to the Pro model to get better performance or enhanced visuals for Death Stranding 2. In short, keeping Death Stranding 2 exclusive to PS5, even if only for a limited time, could help boost console sales for Sony. Death Stranding 2's pre-orders for its multiple editions are already live. The post Death Stranding 2 won’t release on PC at first, and the reason isn’t surprising appeared first on Destructoid. 24. Inventory management is crucial for any adventure, and it’s a task that might be best suited to a sentient backpack. There aren’t many games that offer such an essential ally, but the newly revealed Rootbound looks to provide a beautifully realized take on the concept. Rootbound comes from a ******* studio called Brainlag Games, which was established in 2024 and has former devs from Piranha Bytes among its roster. As the trailer notes, the minds behind this one previously worked on games like Gothic, Risen, and Flex. If the first look is any indication, they have something special in the works in this stylish physics-based outing. [Hidden Content] The environmental aesthetics alone remind me of a mix between A Short Hike and Tunic, with a dash of Death’s Door sprinkled in for good measure. The setting is fittingly bleak, as our plantling hero ventures forth to uncover the secrets behind the island of Akara and a civilization long since forgotten. As for that backpack, its mighty tongue wagging from its pouch, it does more than just hold your items and equipment. It serves as a silent companion and can toss you the items you need as long as it’s in the mood. With sentience comes risk, though, as enemies can notice the backpack and focus their attacks on it. All the while, a blight runs amok throughout the land, spreading its misery through rain that you’ll need to avoid. Torches and campfires provide a brief reprieve, and it all looks like it could swirl together to create a unique mood. Rootbound is currently planned for a 2026 launch on PC via Steam. 25. Phasmophobia has gone through many changes since it was released back in 2020. While the core gameplay elements are still there, Kinetic Games has stayed true to what made its ghost-hunting title such a hit in the indie horror scene. As of right now, update 0.12.0.1 has started to roll out, which not only brings a few tweaks to the game but also introduces the first of two major reworks for some of Phasmo's legacy maps. In this case, we get a brand-new version of Bleasdale Farmhouse, the rickety abode that has us investigating spirits in the spooky countryside. So, being a long-time fan of the game, I've been excited to check out the new update. With that, I thought I'd do an overview of what's changed in Bleasdale. You can check out the patch notes, but for your delectation, here's a quick guide to the revamped map. Something old, something new Screenshot via Destructoid Phasmophobia's Bleasdale Farmhouse location is well known for its old wooden aesthetic. However, before you even enter the map, you'll immediately notice the difference. For starters, the outside has been given something of a modern facelift. It's still all for the wood theme, but with some new panels and a lick of white paint, that rickety look has been given the old heave-ho. This is, without question, a veritable overhaul of the entire location, not just a few simple changes. This continues once we go inside and are greeted by the entryway. Again, there'll be something familiar about it, but it's changed just enough to give you pause for thought. The general layout is still intact, with the large living space in the room beyond and the L-shaped stairs to the right, but the under-the-stairs nook is now a cupboard door and the office to the left is now a sitting room that loops around to the other parts of the house, including a storage area. Screenshot via Destructoid Are you getting manor vibes from this? Because I certainly am. We've definitely shifted away from the more rustic vision of Bleasdale Farmhouse, with something that suggests the family that lives here has come into a considerable sum of money recently. The piano in the living room is still there, though it's been moved to the other side, while also being upgraded to something more grand, rather than the more "plinky-plonky" tavern-style piano of the old farmhouse. The downstairs overall feels like it's been revamped in a way that suggests freshness, but still hints at the map that was here before. For example: the kitchen and dining area are in the same place, except they're now separate rooms (albeit still side-by-side). It feels like it's been closed off, perhaps suggesting an air of privacy for whoever's cooking the meals. Screenshot via Destructoid The upstairs has also seen some major reworks. The first thing I noticed was the bathroom at the top of the stairs, or lack thereof. While it's not actually gone, it's now accessible via the master bedroom a bit further down the hall. This room, too, has changed significantly. While maintaining its size, it's been divided into two sections. One side houses an impressive four-poster bed, while the other has a modest screen and a tailor's mannequinn ******, because that inspires confidence in any ghost hunter who's slightly on edge. The bathroom is off to the right, next to a massive walk-in closet. Nothing says affluence like racks of suits in a room the size of a double garage. Then there's the trophy room. Yes, a trophy room. Taking the place of the utility area, there's now a space for the occupants of Bleasdale Farmhouse to display trinkets befitting a neocolonial warlord. Screenshot via Destructoid But hark! Where are the stairs to the attic? In the old house, they were at the end of the corridor, just before one of the bedrooms (which is now a fancy office). Despair not, however. They are still there, but they've been moved further along, behind its own door. The stairs themselves now look like less of a trip hazard and take us up into the brand-new attic space. If you remember the attic from before, you'll know that it was quite an intimidating area. Its sheer size always induced an acceptable degree of dread as players would collectively hope that the ghost wasn't in this room. Now, while it still counts for a large chunk of the upstairs region, Kinetic Games has added a lot more clutter to soak up some of that size. It's still a big room, but it feels less so now that it's occupied by more stuff. Additionally, there's a spare bed in a side room, which has been separated by a beaded curtain. Screenshot via Destructoid Those are some of the major changes to Bleasdale Farmhouse. Honestly, there's a lot more that can be said about what the developer has reworked, but it definitely feels like something that would benefit from a walkthrough yourself. At any rate, it's an impressive revamp of one of the game's legacy maps. Thanks to the recent Phasmophobia roadmap, we do know that Grafton Farmhouse will be getting similar treatment at some point, along with a new small map. Until then, I'll be looking at this weird occult table and trying to work out what it does...
