  4. Earlier this year, we took a look at how and why Anthropic's Claude large language model was struggling to beat Pokémon Red (a game, let's remember, designed for young children). But while Claude 3.7 is still struggling to make consistent progress at the game weeks later, a similar Twitch-streamed effort using Google's Gemini 2.5 model managed to finally complete Pokémon Blue this weekend across over 106,000 in-game actions, earning accolades from followers, including Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Before you start using this achievement as a way to compare the relative performance of these two AI models—or even the advancement of LLM capabilities over time—there are some important caveats to keep in mind. As it happens, Gemini needed some fairly significant outside help on its path to eventual Pokémon victory. Strap in to the agent harness Gemini Plays Pokémon developer JoelZ (who's unaffiliated with Google) will be the first to tell you that Pokémon is ill-suited as a reliable benchmark for LLM models. As he writes on the project's Twitch FAQ, "please don't consider this a benchmark for how well an LLM can play Pokémon. You can't really make direct comparisons—Gemini and Claude have different tools and receive different information. ... Claude's framework has many shortcomings so I wanted to see how far Gemini could get if it were given the right tools." Read full article Comments View the full article
  5. According to a recent leak, Genshin Impact could be getting a spin-off title inspired by Animal Crossing, as HoYoverse continues to grow its franchises. Between Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, it's clear that HoYoverse isn't one to rest on its laurels after the overwhelming success of Genshin Impact. As seen from the many Flagship Events in Genshin Impact, the developers are interested in fiddling with a lot of different genres. View the full article

  7. Grand Theft Auto 6 has officially been delayed to May 26, 2026. Many expected GTA 6 to be released this year, including plenty of shareholders, leading to Take-Two's stock price taking a bit of a dive when the delay news hit. Ultimately, this is a good thing for 2025 as it allows room for other great games to breathe, but still, many are bummed to see this highly anticipated title not come out this year. 13. Wagarashi is the newest Roblox game where you get to create your shinobi character and experience your ultimate Naruto fantasy. As cool as it would be to pick any of the given ninja clans, that's just not how Roblox games work. Instead, you have to roll, reroll, and likely roll some more until you get one of the better clans. If you're wondering which clans are better than others, then this Ultimate Wagarashi Clans Tier List is for you. Table of contentsWagarashi Clans Tier ListS-TierA-TierB-TierC-TierWagarashi Clans Tier List Image via Tiermaker / Remix by Destructoid If you're familiar with Naruto, you likely already know which clans are better than others. Simply put, if the clan you roll is the same as one of the main characters from the show, it's likely one of the best ones. S-TierClan nameInfoUchihaSame as Sasuke and Itachi. Get your signature Sharingan eyes, Lions Barrage, Sharingan Genjutsu, and even a cool Kunai Assault. You also get a 5% Fire damage boost, which is pretty neat.HyugaSame as Hinata and Neji. Get your signature Byakugan eyes, as well as other moves you've seen from the show, like 64 Palms, Rotation, and Vaccum Palm.UzumakiSame as Naruto. Even though you won't have a Kyuubi inside you, you'll get the Chain Seal, the Chain Trap and an enormous Chakra boost if you roll this clan.A-TierClan nameInfoNamikazeSame as Minato (Naruto's father). Get the sparkling Raijin moves as well as two Rasengan variants.HoukiSame as Houki Taketori. A huge Wind damage boost along with a couple of wind moves, such as Triple Tornado and Devastating Winds.MuJust like the second Tsuchikage. Use moves like Particle Insertion and Pulse, as well as Atomic Prison and Prison Intrapment. HoshigakiSame as Kisame. Walk on water to recover your Chakra and do extra damage with water. You also get to enjoy Shark moves and Water blasts.RaiSame as the son of Raikage. Get lots of lightning based moves that look cool and do a decent amount of damage.ChinoikeSame as Chino. Get the signature Ketsurygan eyes and the signature blood moves.B-TierClan nameInfoAkimichiSame as Choji. inflate your body and do a lot of damage by rolling around. Regardless of damage, it's a ton of fun.SenjuSame as the First Hokage. Get a huge HP buff and use the First Hokage's signature wood moves.YukiSame as Haku. Get a lightning attack boost and some laser attacks.InuzukaSame as Kiba. You don't get a **** (yet), but you can highlight enemies, charge at them, and use Kiba's Slashing combo.KamizuruThe bee clan. Attack your enemies with bees. What more could you ask for?AkafuraHonestly, not much is known about this clan. All you need to know is that they use explosive attacks and they can pack a punch.KazesunaSame as Gaara. Attack using sand. Yes, you can use Sand Coffin but there isn't a Sand Burial (probably too violent).IburiLike the underground fire clan. Use steam and smoke to confuse your enemies. Sounds cooler than it actually is.C-TierClan nameInfoKaguyaSame as Kaguya Otsutsuki (the first chakra wielder). Use your bones to attack. Looks cool and gruesome and is really good for early game.SuzumuraThe bubble clan. Use bubbles and water attacks. Not as effective as other water clans.MiyajimaThe crystal clan. Use Crystals to attack, protect yourself, and even imprison your enemy. Looks cool, but not very powerful.KaratachiSame as Kagura Karatachi. Use the power of Lava to attack. Not nearly as effective as other fire clans.LeeSame as Rock Lee. If you want to focus on melee attacks, this is okay to start with.AburameSame as Shino. Use bugs to attack your opponent. Despite each bug doing something different, it's not that great.OribeSame as Pakura. Use fire orbs to attack your enemies. Looks cool but not very powerful.SarutobiSame as the Third Hokage. Okay fire damage, but not nearly as cool as Uchiha. And there you have it. We hope you get lucky when rolling for your clan. If you haven't already, check out our Wagarashi Trello guide. 14. The mass exodus of formerly exclusive Xbox franchises continues today, with Gears of War being the latest to make its way to PS5. Gears of War: Reloaded is a remastered version of the 2006 classic, and it's coming to PlayStation for the first time along with Xbox and PC when it launches later this summer with a suite of visual and technical upgrades, Microsoft announced today. Image via Xbox Gears will join other Xbox franchises like Forza, Sea of Thieves, and others debuting on the rival platform, and it sounds like it'll be a real pretty version of the game that launched the successful third-person shooter series almost 20 years ago. Gears of War: Reloaded will support 4K resolution, 60 FPS in the campaign, 120 FPS in eight-player multiplayer, HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, 3D Spatial Audio, VRR, remastered textures, 4K assets, enhanced post-processing, and zero loading screens during the campaign. And yeah, you'll be able to play the game cross-platform with anyone on any console or PC, too. To compensate those who bought 2015's Gears of War: Ultimate Edition remaster, Reloaded will be a free upgrade for those who already own it, and it will also be a day one Game Pass Ultimate game. But for PS5 players who feel as though they have been missing out, now's the time for them to join the locust-slaying party. Next year will mark Gears of War's 20th anniversary, so this sort of announcement makes a lot of sense. I'm sure there's even more that Microsoft and Xbox has up its sleeves for Gears in the future, including the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day prequel, which now looks destined for PS5 eventually, too. Image via Xbox Gears of War: Reloaded will launch on Aug. 26 at a discounted price of $39.99 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5, Steam, Game Pass Ultimate, and PC Game Pass. The post Gears of War: Reloaded remasters the 2006 original again, but this time it’s coming to PS5 appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article
  15. Elden Ring Nightreign is IGN's cover story for the month of May. We got to spend two days at From Software's office in Tokyo, and came back with a heaping of reveals, interviews, hands-on impressions, and more. To kick things off though, we've got the exclusive reveal of one of the eight Nightlords players will be facing off against at the end of a run in Nightreign. Introducing Libra: Creature of Night. This madness inducing boss packs some really interesting mechanics, including a decision you must make at the beginning of the fight where you can decide whether or not to make a deal with the boss to gain some sort of benefit, like gaining more strength, or more elemental resistance, or a very powerful weapon. Be careful, because the better the deal, the steeper the price, and the cost of the deal is never known until you actually take it. Check it out in the gameplay video above, and stay tuned all May long for more exclusive Elden Ring Nightreign IGN First coverage! Mitchell Saltzman is an editorial producer at IGN. 16. Happy Monday! Microsoft just announced Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the original 2006 game that will launch on August 26 on Xbox, PC and PlayStation. The shiny new version will come with improved visuals and audio, cross-play and cross-progression, and all the DLC from the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. "As we approach the 20th anniversary of Gears of War in 2026, we’re reflecting on what this franchise means. It’s about the stories we’ve told, the friendships we’ve built, and the unforgettable moments we’ve shared together. With Gears of War: Reloaded, we’re opening that door to more players than ever," said Mike Crump, Studio Head at The Coalition in the announcement post. Not only do PlayStation owners get to play, the love can be shared across the console barricades. "Gears of War: Reloaded is built for shared play — whether you’re teaming up in split-screen or jumping online. The Campaign supports two-player co-op, and Versus Multiplayer allows up to 8 players. With cross-play across all platforms, you and your friends can squad up no matter where you play — no Microsoft account required," confirmed Crump. However, signing in with a Microsoft account unlocks full cross-platform functionality. It enables cross-progression, so your Campaign and multiplayer progress carries across devices. It also allows you to send invites and play with friends across platforms — like Xbox to PlayStation or Steam to Xbox." Microsoft also delivered a full list of the improvements that all players - whatever the console - can expect to see: 4K resolution60 FPS in Campaign120 FPS in MultiplayerHigh Dynamic Range (HDR)Dolby Vision & 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos7.1.4 3D Spatial AudioVariable Refresh Rate (VRR)4K assets and remastered texturesEnhanced post-processing visual effectsImproved shadows and reflectionsSuper resolution with improved anti-aliasingZero loading screens during Campaign As a little treat for the Gears of War faithful, Gears of War: Reloaded will be a free upgrade for any players who purchased the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition ahead of today's announcement. 21. The original Oblivionhas always been known for its great quest design, with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered recreating it as closely as possible thanks to its unique combination of game engines. While this does mean that many quests are taken to even greater heights with brand-new fidelity, facial animations, and voice acting, it also means some of the most tedious haven't changed one bit. While it might not be the most rewarding questline that Oblivion Remastered has to offer, "Seeking Your Roots" still has plenty of benefits for the average player. View the full article
  22. This year’s annual Star Wars Day seemingly caused many players to boot up 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 on Steam, leading to the highest player count for the game in nearly four years. Star Wars Battlefront 2was around the same time as Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi, and served as a sequel to DICE’s 2015 Star Wars Battlefront reboot. While early reactions to Battlefront 2 were lukewarm due to controversies surrounding its lootboxes, later updates would add new content and draw players back in. View the full article
  23. There are only five essential skills in Stardew Valley - farming, mining, foraging, fishing, and combat - which can all be leveled up through standard gameplay. Farming and foraging are the easiest, since they are part of the standard crop-growing section of the game, while mining and combat similarly go hand in hand when players venture into the mines. The one skill that sticks out is fishing, with its difficult gameplay mechanic and steep learning curve. ConcernedApe, the solo creator of the game, has expressed his regrets over how hard fishing is, but still stands by his mini-game. View the full article
