Following the official confirmation about his release, a new leak about Archer’s kit in Honkai: Star Rail 3.4 has emerged, and based on the early information about his abilities, he may resemble one of the game’s best DPS characters to date. Archer and Saber have been confirmed by developer HoYoverse as the two characters who will be featured in the Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works collaboration event with the turn-based RPG. Before their announcements, there had been a lot of rumors about the Fate collab characters for Honkai: Star Rail, including speculation about each of their respective Paths and elements. "ENEMY AC-130 ABOVE!" If you immediately hear this voiceline in your head and feel a shiver down your spine, then do I have the indie game for you. The classic AC-130 gunship killstreak that made its mark on gaming culture way back in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been Vampire Survivors-ized in a fun indie title that was brought to my attention this morning, and I've been having a good bit of fun playing it so far in its early access offering. Screenshot by Destructoid Metal Thunder is its name, and it comes from a solo developer by the name of "Tolga." The game, which launched in Steam early access this past November, features AC-130 gameplay wrapped up in action-roguelite upgrades a la Vampire Survivors and other games like it, and it makes for a pretty unique experience. If you were skilled (or lucky) enough to nab an AC-130 killstreak in MW2 back in the day, the gameplay will immediately feel familiar to you. You fly high above a battlefield, defending your interests from invading soldiers and vehicles while cycling through a variety of weapons that you unlock by playing the game as you would any roguelite, leveling up and earning new and improved skills. While the "Survivors" genre of games is usually more passive, Metal Thunder adds its own wrinkle by allowing you to aim and fire each weapon in 20-minute long missions, unlocking new weapons and perks such as your own artillery, vehicles, or infantry to help defend your objective while utilizing the trademark thermal cameras of a high-powered modern gunship in the sky. Expect 30mm cannons, 120mm cannons, gatling guns, phosphorus cannons, and more as you play through a variety of missions and locales with differing objectives. Screenshot by Destructoid As a fan of both CoD and the "survivors" genre, this immediately appealed to me when it hit my email inbox this morning, catching my attention from the dozen or so other games that I'm alerted about each week. Tolga was quick to send over a copy of the game for me to try out, and I'm happy to say that it scratched the itch I was expecting it to, combining different genres and ideas to supply something unique. Metal Thunder is in early access and has a roadmap of planned content to execute on, including a campaign with more and new missions to go along with its current Survival offering, and even a Zombies mode eventually with its own campaign, weapons, and maps. Screenshot by Destructoid It's currently $10.99 on Steam, and has enough of a base experience and challenge for now to justify the price, but will likely only get better with time as it approaches 1.0 launch. The post This hidden indie roguelite combines genre staples with CoD gunship gameplay—and it’s a surprising banger appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article
With how closely everyone was following the flood of rumors ahead of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered being revealed and released, there was virtually no chance of it failing outright, but it has become a certifiable hit, even when discounting its availability on Game Pass. Oblivion never enjoyed the exceptional popularity of its successor Skyrim, but The Elder Scrolls seems to have reached new heights, with Oblivion Remastered quickly becoming one of 2025's best-selling games. A big part of the fun with Star Wars Day each year is seeing a new wave of toys and collectibles revealed by companies like Hasbro, Sideshow, and Hot Toys. This year's event certainly didn't disappoint, as we got glimpses of a wide range of upcoming products, ranging from less than $20 to over $1500. What can we say? Being a Star Wars collector is nothing if not an expensive hobby. From Sideshow's epic Luke Skywalker Red 5 statue to Hasbro's nostalgia-heavy Episode III figures to Hot Toys' mind-bogglingly detailed Jar Jar Binks figure, these were the coolest figures and collectibles revealed during Star Wars Day 2025. Hot Toys' Star Wars Figures Hot Toys revealed quite the impressive lineup of 1:6 scale figures for Star Wars Day, including a couple of major characters who have surprisingly never gotten the Hot Toys treatment before now. The real surprise is definitely the Jar Jar Binks figure. Love him or hate him, there's no denying that this Jar Jar looks like he walked right off the screen. He's even got seamless arm joints and two swappable face sculpts for recreating all those wacky poses. Hot Toys is also filling a glaring hole in the Sequel Trilogy lineup by finally releasing a Poe Dameron figure. Fittingly, Poe is wearing his Resistance X-Wing jumpsuit. We're also getting another of the fan-favorite Republic Commandos in the form of Clone Commando Boss, and the company's new Star Wars Rebels-inspired line of animated figures is getting a Darth Vader to accompany the previously announced Stormtrooper figures. Hasbro's Star Wars Toys Hasbro revealed a number of new figures in both the 6-inch ****** Series line and 3 3/4-inch Vintage Collection line. Hasbro continues to capitalize on the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith by releasing new ****** Series figures in packaging based on the classic RotS toy line. Next up are Aayla Secura and a Magnaguard droid. ****** Series collectors can also augment their Imperial trooper collections with a Rogue One-themed 2-pack that includes both a Shoretrooper and a Death Trooper. On the Vintage Collection front, Hasbro has a couple very interesting multi-pack releases in the works. The "Stormtroopers of the Empire 3-Pack" features a Snowtrooper, Scouttrooper and a Sandtrooper. The "Cantina Adventure 4-Pack" includes four aliens from the iconic Mos Eisley sequence, including Hammerhead, Walrus Man, Greedo, and Snaggletooth. It should go great with Hasbro's crowdfunded Mos Eisley Cantina playset. Finally, Star Wars prop collectors will be happy to know that a new ForceFX Elite lightsaber based on the weapon used by Rebels' star Ezra Bridger is in the works. Sideshow's Star Wars Figures and Posters Not to be outdone,. Sideshow Collectibles had a wide lineup of figures, statues, and art prints to reveal. Undoubtedly the showpiece of their Star Wars Day lineup is the Luke Skywalker: Red Five, Standing By Premium Format Figure. This massive 1:4 scale, mixed media statue features Luke decked out in his X-Wing jumpsuit and climbing up the ladder to his trusty ship. What really makes this piece special (and especially expensive) is that Sideshow went to the trouble of actually sculpting a portion of the X-Wing so that it hangs in mid-air. Sideshow is also continuing to release 1:6 scale figures alongside distributing Hot Toys' releases. Sideshow is focusing on its "***** and Villainy" line, which highlights the many aliens and creatures that don't necessarily receive attention from Hot Toys. The second wave of ***** and Villainy figures is focused on characters from Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi, like Bib Fortuna, Klaatu, and Vizam. Finally, Sideshow showed off the latest 1:10 statue from Iron Studios, which happens to be a shrunken-down version of their 1:4 scale Darth Vader statue. This Empire Strikes Back-inspired piece still looks mighty cool in the new, smaller scale. Let us know in the comments below what your favorite Star Wars Day 2025 reveal was, and why it's Hot Toys Jar Jar. I've always admired the mood of Battlefield 1. It's a strangely horrifying shooter, especially for a mainstream release. Death is quick and easy, the horizon is lined with fire and explosions, your shoes are caked with mud. It's dirty, grungy, and unheroic. Indie game Trench Tales pulls on that tradition capably. It's a third-person, action-horror game set in an alternate, haunted WW1 and it launches on Steam in early access very soon. Read the rest of the story... Earlier this year, we took a look at how and why Anthropic's Claude large language model was struggling to beat Pokémon Red (a game, let's remember, designed for young children). But while Claude 3.7 is still struggling to make consistent progress at the game weeks later, a similar Twitch-streamed effort using Google's Gemini 2.5 model managed to finally complete Pokémon Blue this weekend across over 106,000 in-game actions, earning accolades from followers, including Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Before you start using this achievement as a way to compare the relative performance of these two AI models—or even the advancement of LLM capabilities over time—there are some important caveats to keep in mind. As it happens, Gemini needed some fairly significant outside help on its path to eventual Pokémon victory. Strap in to the agent harness Gemini Plays Pokémon developer JoelZ (who's unaffiliated with Google) will be the first to tell you that Pokémon is ill-suited as a reliable benchmark for LLM models. As he writes on the project's Twitch FAQ, "please don't consider this a benchmark for how well an LLM can play Pokémon. You can't really make direct comparisons—Gemini and Claude have different tools and receive different information. ... Claude's framework has many shortcomings so I wanted to see how far Gemini could get if it were given the right tools." Read full article Comments View the full article
