Hazelight's fan-favorite co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has sold almost four million copies. Publisher EA confirmed the milestone in its latest financial results, calling the game a "hugely successful launch" and name-checking it as one of the reasons the publisher ended the 2025 financial year with a "strong finish." "4 MILLION SOLD!!!!" developer Hazelight exclaimed on social media in response to the news. "So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing… "Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made… " Split Fiction pulls you into the many worlds of two fiction writers in a boundary-pushing co-op adventure that allows two people to play even if only one owns the game. It only launched in March, but is yet another hit for Hazelight and designer Josef Fares, selling over 2 million copies in just a week. It's also down as a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title as Hazelight gets going on its next game. A movie based on Hazelight’s game is also in the works, with Story Kitchen, the video game adaptation specialist behind the Sonic films, said to be assembling writers, a director, and the cast, which will include Sydney Sweeney. We said Split Fiction was "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another", writing in the IGN Split Fiction review that it was "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced. This keeps it fabulously fresh for its full, 14-hour duration." Vikki Blake is a reporter, critic, columnist, and consultant. Polar Star is, basically, rock paper pistol, but with a few dab-handed puzzle twists that make it instantly compelling. You're a saloon dwelling varmint sat at a table with nothing but your six shooter and a glass of ******** for company, and you're accosted by a chain of ne'er-do-wells. Perhaps there's a bounty on your head. Perhaps it's their ******** you're drinking. It's not clear, but it seems nefarious. You know what ne'er-do-wells are like. Read more View the full article
Last month, Blizzard announced the first of their planned collaboration events/themed cosmetic greed-jamborees for action RPG Diablo 4. Kicking things off is Berserk - Kentaro Miura's dark fantasy manga about a large man swinging a large sword at demons, full of panels that are very good at conveying thrilling duels with a bunch of slash marks and captions that say 'snick' a lot. I'm no superfan, but I do own a few books, and the original anime is one of my favourites - even if its brilliant theme song lied to me re: having zero problems in life as long as I'm wearing my glasses. Kuro Games has finally confirmed that Cartethyia will become a playable character in Wuthering Waves via drip marketing. She is a 5-star character and will be released in the upcoming version 2.4 update. Unfortunately, the developers did not share any details about Cartethyia’s Attribute and weapon type. That said, we do have an idea, thanks to all the recent leaks. Cartethyia will release in WuWa 2.4 Kuro Games finally drip-marketed Cartethyia, also known as Fleurdelys, on Wuthering Waves’ official social media accounts, confirming that the Blessed Maiden will be released in version 2.4. Furthermore, the post reveals that she is a 5-star unit, which shouldn’t be surprising considering her role in the story. The drip marketing post also reads: "The powers of the Sentinel and Threnodian clash and unite within her, propelling her into an uncertain future. Whether the future is bright or dim, she will hold the blade firmly and confront all that comes her way." [Hidden Content] Cartethyia’s splash art also shows her adult self (Fleurdelys), so we can look forward to playing her in both forms in Wuwa. That said, it is unclear if the second form will be locked behind Resonance Liberation or if she can transform by charging her Forte and using the Skill. Given Cartethyia’s connections with the Sentinel Imperator, the Threnodian Leviathan, and the Dark Tide, it is safe to say she will be one of the strongest characters in the game, similar to Jinhsi from Huanglong. Expected Attribute and weapon Kuro Games has not announced Fleurdelys’ Attribute and weapon type. However, based on the recent leaks, it is speculated that she could be an Aero unit. Furthermore, Cartethyia is seen using a Sword in the game, so it will likely be her weapon of choice. Luckily, the developers usually reveal the element and weapon type soon after the character drip marketing, so you won’t have to wait long for official confirmation. Since Cartethyia is the first character to be revealed for the Wuthering Waves 2.4 update, she will likely be in the first phase. Thus, you can expect her banner to be released on or around June 12. In the latest video in Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice series, Final Fantasy Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be getting a Switch 2 release. Intergrade is the expanded PS5 version of the 2020 PS4 release Final Fantasy VII Remake, the first chapter in the remake trilogy that greatly expands upon the classic 1997 PS1 RPG Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade made some improvements to the PS4 version’s graphics and lighting, and also included Remake’s Intermission DLC, which centers on plucky ninja Yuffie’s arrival in Midgar. Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade is currently available on PS5 and PC. However, Hamaguchi revealed that with the Switch 2’s improvements over its predecessor, it will be possible to bring the game to Nintendo's handheld platform. “With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs,” he stated. “Being able to play this game on the Switch 2 in handheld mode means you can play it on the train while commuting to work,” Hamaguchi added, saying that the portability will also make it easier for people to directly discuss and show others the game and their progress. The Switch 2 version will also incorporate GameChat, enabling players to talk to friends while playing and share their screens in real time. “I’m very excited to see this game playable on a portable system,” Hamaguchi enthused, adding that “I have high hopes that we can build a strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand.” Although only Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been confirmed for Switch 2 so far, Hamaguchi ended with, “I hope players are looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2,” suggesting that Rebirth and the upcoming final entry in the trilogy will also see Switch 2 releases in the future. Of course, the Final Fantasy series originally started out on Nintendo consoles, before switching to the PlayStation 1 and its CD-ROM format for Final Fantasy VII, the first 3D entry, in 1997. With the remake, it seems that FFVII will finally be available on Nintendo hardware. The Secret Source Automaton Overseer Device in Genshin Impact is a world boss located in Natlan. While it is easily visible on the map, getting to its location for the first time can be confusing, since it is on a small island at the corner of Natlan. This guide will help you reach the Secret Source Automaton Overseer Device boss and give you a small tip to beat it. Secret Source Automaton Overseer Device boss location and how to reach Screenshot by Destructoid The Secret Source Automaton Overseer Device boss is on the small island southwest of the Atocpan region in Natlan. Unfortunately, there's no land connecting it to the mainland of Natlan, so getting here for the first time may be tricky. If you have Furina, you can use her Elemental Skill to walk on water and get to the island. Screenshot by Destructoid For those without Furina, teleport to the waypoint southwest of the Children of Echoes and head straight towards the shore to find a couple of Koholasaurus near the Secret Source Dragon Idol. Indwell the Saurian and swim to the boss's island. You will also find a lot of Phlogiston Particles on the way, so you can use the Aquadash skill to get there faster. Once there, unlock the teleport waypoint for fast travel next time. Tips to beat the boss You can use brute force to beat the Secret Source Automaton Overseer Device boss in Genshin Impact. However, during the battle, it may enter the Sweeper Mode, during which it will start using hydro pump attacks, and these attacks also get stronger as time passes. Furthermore, the boss's elemental resistance significantly increases in this state. Screenshot by Destructoid The only way to stop the boss is to use Cryo attacks, so it's best to use a proper Cryo team or at least bring one Cryo unit that can perform fast Cryo attacks, such as Ayaka or Wriothesley. Gears of War: Reloaded is bringing the beloved cover shooter to every platform under the sun - apart from Nintendo Switch, unfortunately - and fans couldn't be happier. It follows on from another Xbox-owned franchise that got a remaster in the form of Oblivion Remastered, which took the world by storm and sold millions of copies in just a handful of days. While Xbox is likely hoping for another win with a Gears of War remaster, those who are deeply familiar with the franchise may want to hold off on buying it straight away. View the full article
Let's all make like my usual Oblivion playthrough and get our inventories severely over-encumbered with genre staples, cult classics, and a few hidden gems that might just surprise you. Whether you're on the hunt for sprawling RPGs, nostalgic remakes, or something stylish and brand new, there’s a little something tucked into each platform’s treasure chest. And at discounts this deep, it's difficult not to justify one more download (or five). This Day in Gaming In retro news, I'm using a flaming deku stick to light a 22-candle cake for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, a GameCube gem worth every rupee. I have vivid launch memories of being blown away by the (fandangle and fairly groundbreaking) cel-shaded visuals and the sheer size of this vast Waterworld. Furthermore, the "living cartoon" aesthetic allowed for wackier than usual NPCs to shine through like never before. Cases in point: a significantly larger role for the turbo-flamboyant Tingle, plus the hilarity of that Battleship Minigame Guy. "Ker-BOOOM!"
