  1. 4 Critical Technical Errors Are Stopping Marvel Rivals From Surpassing Overwatch 2 4 Critical Technical Errors Are Stopping Marvel Rivals From Surpassing Overwatch 2 It’s been a little over a month since the release of Marvel Rivals, and it already established itself as one of the best games in recent years. The game has added two new heroes in the first season, and two more are on the way. That’s not all; we have new modes, maps, and tons of exciting things. Marvel Rivals is making waves in the hero-shooter genre. (Image via NetEase Games) It’s clear that Marvel Rivals is here to stay and is Overwatch 2‘s worst nightmare. However, if the NetEase Games’ title really wants to be the king of the hero-shooter genre, it must fix four critical technical errors that are plaguing the game and forcing the players to flock to competition. Marvel Rivals is suffering from horrendous technical issues While NetEase Games has definitely nailed the gameplay and features side of Marvel Rivals, the studio has fumbled a lot when it comes to the game’s technical performance and bugs. It’s not as bad as something you’ll expect from Bethesda and Todd Howard, though. The first major issue with Marvel Rivals is the game’s frame rate dependency, which ends up affecting character abilities and movement mechanics. For instance, Doctor Strange’s aerial ability is directly linked to the game’s frames, which means that players with 30 FPS or even lower won’t be able to perfectly execute moves against enemies. Marvel Rivals has added tons of content through various patches. However, that’s where the second issue comes in; all of these patches have led to connectivity issues, with players reporting game crashes and pre-match disconnections that lead to harsh penalties. Gamers are dealing with longer loading times and random in-game freezes that ruin the momentum of their matches. The third issue with Marvel Rivals is that it forces mouse acceleration by default, something that even Overwatch 2 doesn’t dare to do. Due to this, gamers feel their aiming precision gets messed up, especially during fast-paced combat. For some odd reason, the hero-shooter lacks an in-game toggle to disable acceleration. The worst issue in Rivals currently is undoubtedly the FPS drops. Updates are supposed to improve performance, but somehow, they’ve done the exact opposite for Rivals. All of the recent updates have led to FPS dips, memory leaks, and unoptimized textures, even on high-end systems. These performance issues ruin the fun of the game in ranked matches where every FPS matters. Marvel Rivals players want one Overwatch mode Mystery Heroes mode is one of the best parts of Overwatch. (Image via Blizzard) While NetEase Games has given players tons of things to experience in Marvel Rivals, gamers want more, and now they’re looking at Overwatch‘s Mystery Heroes mode. Over on the game’s official subreddit, many in the community believe such a mode could make Rivals even more exciting. If you’re unaware, in Mystery Heroes mode, gamers skip character selection altogether, and they’re randomly given different heroes to control. What’s even better about Mystery Heroes mode is that once a player-controlled hero dies, the game once again rolls the dice and assigns them a new hero to play. This ensures that new heroes are coming in and out of the battlefield. Let’s hope NetEase Games can take a look at the game’s technical problems and even consider adding the Overwatch mode to win the hearts of gamers. With that said, have you faced any technical issues in Marvel Rivals? Let us know in the comments below. 3. India cricket: Abhishek Sharma shines in T20 win over England India cricket: Abhishek Sharma shines in T20 win over England Abhishek, born in Amritsar as the youngest of three siblings, is the perfect batter for his time in India. After their lacklustre exit at the hands of England in the 2022 World Cup, Rohit Sharma set about implementing a more aggressive style. Rohit led India to the T20 World Cup title in Barbados last June and, when he retired in the aftermath, Abhishek was where India turned. He was given a debut against Zimbabwe in July in India’s first series after lifting the trophy in Bridgetown and hit a century in the second match. “Abhishek scored a massive number of runs in the under-16 nationals but really the transformation began when he went to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, having initially played for Delhi Daredevils and not done much,” said Wakankar. Abhishek had a solid IPL season in 2023 but it was last year he made his name. He was united with Australia batter Travis Head at the top of the order and together the pair helped Sunrisers break the record for the competition’s highest total twice. Abhishek, able to work with Sunrisers batting coach Brian Lara, scored at a devastating strike-rate of 204.21 across 16 matches. He scored 484 runs in the season despite never playing an innings lasting more than 29 ******. Against England, he took on all of that brutal yet elegant power-hitting, only this time went on to play the match-winning hand. “A very welcome change is to see more and more of that Yuvi-esque full face and flow of the bat,” said Wakankar. “He gives it the full swing when he plays either side of the wicket and has a good flick when he gets inside the line of the ball.” Source link #India #cricket #Abhishek #Sharma #shines #T20 #win #England Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  4. Norths efficient with bat and ball in big win against Hannans Norths efficient with bat and ball in big win against Hannans North Kalgoorlie’s defence of the Eastern Goldfields Cricket Association’s A-grade premiership has, after a rough start to the 2024-25 season, gained momentum when they brushed aside Hannans on Saturday by eight wickets. Following just two wins through the opening seven matches, Norths have notched back-to-back victories to kickstart the second half of their season. They remain in third place, but edged a game clear of last-placed Lake View in the run to a top-three finals series. Hannans went into the clash at Wallace Park chasing outright first place, but they instead crashed to be all out for 77 in 25.1 overs. Camera IconNorth Kalgoorlie’s Michael Noble. Credit: Carwyn Monck/Kalgoorlie Miner It was Hannans’ lowest score of the season and they have lost two in a row since fixtures resumed after the Christmas break. After Hannans batted first, openers Matt Ralph and Aarib Tareen Khan both top-scored with 13 and put on 25 runs for the first wicket. But the side quickly slumped to 6-55 on the back of Blake Willis’ 4-27. Nick Willis grabbed 2-11 and Matthew Smart 2-3 as North secured a valuable fourth win. With the dismissals of Graham Kennedy and Alex Jago, Blake Willis was on a hat-trick in the 11th over. He was unsuccessful, but captured Ralph’s wicket in the 15th over that left Hannans at 5-55. In reply, Sam Burge went first ball off Harrison Wheatcroft’s bowling but Michael Noble made 26 off 27 ****** and Harris Carnegie top-scored with an unbeaten 44 off 30 ******. Camera IconHannans’ Harrison Wheatcroft. Credit: Carwyn Monck/Kalgoorlie Miner Carnegie’s knock featured seven fours and two sixes as Norths cruised to 2-83 in 9.5 overs. Norths’ officials will be hopeful that a big start to the second half follows similar lines to last summer, when they won their last seven matches, en route to the flag. However, they face another big test this Saturday against first-placed Great Boulder. Tallahassee police warn residents after gang of dogs attack, causing serious injuries Tallahassee police warn residents after gang of dogs attack, causing serious injuries The Tallahassee Police Department is warning residents in west Tallahassee to be on the lookout for a dog who may have joined four others in attacking a person just before noon on Sunday. Oficers were dispatched to the 800 block of South Lipona Road off Jackson Bluff Road in reference to an animal attack at about 11:30 a.m. “Officers arrived to locate a victim with serious, but non-life threatening injuries from being bitten by several dogs,” according to a TPD incident alert on social media. “Witnesses described seeing 4-5 dogs conduct the attack. The dogs ran before law enforcement arrived on scene.” Police managed to locate four of the dogs and they were taken into custody by animal control. “Due to witnesses describing 4-5 dogs, there might still be one on the loose,” the incident alert stated. “Citizens are encouraged to contact law enforcement if they see a loose dog in the area. Do not approach and call law enforcement.” Officers also warned spectators, volunteers and participants of the Capital City Marathon to be aware of their surroundings. Mario Kart for Nintendo Switch 2 needs these new characters Mario Kart for Nintendo Switch 2 needs these new characters Yi-Long829d ago I know this take will upset people who are eagerly awaiting MK9 (or 10, if you’re counting the mobile game), but when we agree that MK8 nails the gameplay as much as can be expected, and doesn’t need changing, then why not just keep building on MK8, upgrading it for their next console, but keeping all content we have so far, and simply just keep adding to that. Yeah, I would like to see more Nintendo characters/locations getting added, and yeah, I’d love a Mario Kart ‘Maker’, where you can design your own tracks, but all that could be added to what is already there in MK8. 9. Secretary of State Marco Rubio meets with Panamanian president amid Trump’s Panama Canal push Secretary of State Marco Rubio meets with Panamanian president amid Trump’s Panama Canal push Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino Sunday amid his first overseas trip, as the Trump administration makes a push for control of the Panama Canal. Rubio, the first Latino secretary of state, made the trip in part to reiterate President Trump’s concern that China has too much influence over the Panama Canal, and needs control of the waterway for economic security, though Mulino has refuted the claim. Rubio is set to tour the canal later Sunday. The Panama Cana serves as a shortcut between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. And although the U.S. led the construction of the major waterway that around 40% of the world’s cargo ship traffic now moves through, its control was given to Panama in 1999. In the meeting, Rubio told the Panamanian leader that Mr. Trump has determined that China’s influence on the Panama Canal is “a threat to the canal and represents a violation of the Treaty Concerning the Permanent Neutrality and Operation of the Panama Canal,” a spokesperson said in a statement. Meanwhile, President Trump on Saturday signed an executive order that imposes 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, which come after months of threatening to do so as he seeks to leverage trade policy even against some of the U.S.’ largest economic allies. Mr. Trump acknowledged Sunday that there may be “some pain” with the tariffs in a social media post. But he argued that “it will all be worth the price that must be paid.” The tariffs come in part to curb the flow of undocumented immigrants, as well as illicit drugs, into the U.S. And Rubio’s first overseas visit to Central America and the Caribbean, of which Panama is the initial stop, also comes as the Trump administration seeks cooperation on its immigration policy from nearby countries, like Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. Sen. Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat, criticized the president’s move on Sunday, saying in an appearance on “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan” that the tariffs are “going to end up costing consumers,” with increased prices on goods from avocados and beer to cars and trucks. “Remember, Donald Trump got hired trying to lower, saying he was going to lower grocery prices,” Warner said. “Two weeks in, he’s doing something that’s going to do the absolute opposite.” Ed O’Keefe contributed to this report. 10. US tells Panama that China threatens canal US tells Panama that China threatens canal US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has told Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino in talks that President Donald Trump has determined China’s influence threatens the Panama Canal and that immediate changes are needed or the US will act, a State Department spokesperson says. The Panamanian government has vehemently denied ceding operation of the canal to China and insists it administers the canal fairly to all shipping. Although the canal itself is operated by Panama, the two ports on either side are run by publicly listed Hong Kong company CK Hutchinson while other ports nearby are operated by private companies from the United States, Singapore and Taiwan. Mulino on Sunday stressed that sovereignty over the canal is not up for debate but he offered help repatriating some migrants if the United States paid for it. Probably other animals and/or organic debris. Why it’s awesome: With their shimmering golden coats, these worms almost look glamorous — until you see their horrifying jaws, which resemble the mouth of the xenomorph from “Alien.” The worms are named after the scales (known as elytra) that cover their bodies. These scales look a bit like human teeth, adding to the worms’ dazzling-yet-gruesome appearance. Growing up to 8 inches (20 centimeters) long, Antarctic scale worms are a type of ocean-dwelling polychaete, or bristle worm (polychaete is Latin for “many bristles”). Related to earthworms and leeches, there are over 8,000 named polychaete species. They have segmented bodies, with loads of little bristles sticking out of each section. The scale worm lives deep in the Antarctic ocean and they grow up to 8 inches long. | Credit: Smithsonian NMNH Different polychaete species use their bristles for different purposes, according to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI). In this case, Antarctic scale worms’ shimmering golden hairs could help them crawl or swim through the water, or defend themselves from threats. It’s unclear why their bristles are golden. Related: Ghostly white giant worms appear to be reproducing under the seafloor where tectonic plates meet Their most remarkable body part, however, is often hidden. Their purplish “head” isn’t actually a head at all but a retractable mouth they keep tucked away until they’re ready to feast. I want to speak directly to Americans, our closest friends and neighbors. This is a choice that, yes, will harm Canadians, but beyond that, it will have real consequences for you. Tariffs against Canada will put your jobs at risk, potentially shutting down American auto assembly plants and other manufacturing facilities. They will raise costs for you, including food at the grocery stores and gas at the pump. We don’t want to be here. We didn’t ask for this. Jenin Government Hospital Director Wisam Baker told the ************ state news agency that part of the hospital was damaged in the explosions but that there had been no casualties. Jenin is home to a crowded refugee camp of descendants of Palestinians who were driven out, or fled their homes, in the 1948 war when the state of Israel was established. The refugee camp there has been a centre of militant activity for decades and the target of repeated raids by Israeli security forces. 24. ‘It doesn’t have to be this way’: Canada, Mexico, China and the EU respond to Trump’s tariffs ‘It doesn’t have to be this way’: Canada, Mexico, China and the EU respond to Trump’s tariffs US President Donald Trump on Saturday imposed long-threatened tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico and China — and it didn’t take long for the countries to respond. Trump signed an order slapping 25 per cent tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada, and a 10% duty on ******** imports, due to start on Tuesday. Energy resources from Canada face a lower, 10 per cent tariff to “minimize any disruptive effects we might have on gasoline and home heating oil prices,” according to a senior administration official. In the executive order, Trump said that if the countries — the U.S.’s three-largest trading partners — retaliate, it could be met with an “increase or expand in scope” of the duties already imposed. In a post on X, Trump said the duties had been imposed “because of the major threat of ******** aliens and deadly drugs killing our Citizens, including fentanyl.” The U.S. does about $US1.6 trillion in business each year with Canada, Mexico and China. The tariffs are expected to be used as both bargaining chips and methods to effect foreign policy changes — specifically regarding immigration and drug trade issues — by the Trump administration. Reaction from one of the three countries was swift and decisive, while the others appeared to take more of a wait-and-see approach to Trump’s tariffs. The European Union is also watching how the newly imposed tariffs will play out, after Trump recently took aim at the EU for what he claims is an unequal trade relationship. Here is a look at their responses. Canada ********* Prime Minister Justin Trudeau slapped retaliatory tariffs of 25 per cent against $US155 billion of US goods soon after the Trump tariffs were announced. He said duties on $30 billion worth of US goods will be imposed on Tuesday, with tariffs on a further $US125 billion worth of products are due to be introduced in 21 days, “to allow ********* companies and supply chains to seek to find alternatives.” “Like the American tariffs, our response will also be far-reaching and include everyday items such as American beer, wine and bourbon, fruits and fruit juices, including orange juice, along with vegetables, perfume, clothing and shoes,” Trudeau said in a press conference on Saturday evening. “It’ll include major consumer products like household appliances, furniture and sports equipment, and materials like lumber and plastics, along with much, much more.” Addressing American citizens directly, Trudeau added: “This is a choice that, yes, will harm Canadians, but beyond that, it will have real consequences for you, the American people.” Retaliatory tariffs are expected to further exacerbate price hikes in both the US and elsewhere. The price of everything from cars and electronics to toys and food is expected to be impacted. Trudeau added that “it doesn’t have to be this way.” “Yes, we’ve had our differences in the past, but we’ve always found a way to get past them. As I’ve said before, if President Trump wants to usher in a new golden age for the United States, the better path is to partner with Canada, not to punish us,” he said. Meanwhile, Ontario said it will pull all American alcohol products from its government-run liquor shelves beginning Tuesday in response to the tariffs. Outlets of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario will also take US products out of its catalog so other retailers can’t order or restock those items, according to a Sunday statement by Premier Doug Ford. Mexico Mexico also vowed retaliation following the news, although did not reveal specifics. President Claudia Sheinbaum slammed Trump’s tariffs and said she had instructed the secretary of the economy to “implement the Plan B we have been working on, which includes tariff and non-tariff measures in defense of Mexico’s interests.” In a long post on X, the president added: “We categorically reject the White House’s slander of the Government of Mexico alleging alliances with criminal organizations, as well as any intention to interfere in our territory.” “Mexico does not want confrontation. We start from the collaboration between neighbouring countries,” she said in the post, translated by NBC. “Mexico not only does not want fentanyl to reach the United States, it does not want it to reach anywhere.” “We must work together in a comprehensive manner, but always under the principles of shared responsibility, mutual trust, collaboration and above all, respect for sovereignty, which is non-negotiable. Coordination, yes; subordination, no,” she added. China China said it would file a lawsuit with the World Trade Organization in response to the duties, and “take necessary countermeasures.” “The US’s unilateral tariff hike seriously violates WTO rules, does nothing to resolve its own issues, and disrupts normal economic and trade cooperation between China and the U.S.,” the ******** Ministry of Commerce said in a statement Sunday, according to an NBC translation. “In response to this wrongful action, China will file a lawsuit with the WTO and take necessary countermeasures to firmly safeguard its rights and interests.” China has complained to the WTO over tariffs before, notably regarding the EU’s tariffs on ******** EVs last year. The fact that China stopped short of immediate escalation has raised hopes that there could be some room to avoid an all-out trade war between the two countries. The lower, 10 per cent-tariffs imposed on ********-made goods may also be a relief given repeated threats made by Trump on the campaign trail to impose duties of 60 per cent or more on imports from the country. In its statement, China pushed back on Trump’s comments about fentanyl, describing it as a “domestic issue.” “China urges the U.S. to take an objective and rational approach to its domestic issues, including fentanyl, rather than resorting to tariff threats against other countries,” it said. Synthetic opioid fentanyl is an addictive drug that causes many thousands of overdose deaths each year in the U.S. The chemicals needed to make the drug are mostly produced in China and Mexico. Washington and Beijing had previously agreed to cooperate on the issue. The EU The European Union said Sunday that it “regrets” the U.S. decision to impose tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China, and would “respond firmly” if Trump imposed tariffs on the EU, according to a European Commission spokesperson. Trump has made no secret of his opinion that the U.S. and the EU have what he has claimed is an unequal trade relationship. “From the standpoint of America, the EU treats us very, very unfairly, very badly,” Trump said in a virtual address to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this month. The EU is not currently aware of any additional tariffs being placed on its products, the spokesperson said. “Our trade and investment relationship with the U.S. is the biggest in the world. There is a lot at stake,” the spokesperson said. “Across-the-board tariff measures raise business costs, harm workers and consumers. Tariffs create unnecessary economic disruption and drive inflation. They are hurtful to all sides.” Trump has previously vowed to place tariffs on the EU, with his latest statement on Friday adding that he would “absolutely” do so. Tensions between Trump and the EU were already high after the president made a proposal to buy Greenland. ‘Global trade war’ In a note on Sunday, Paul Ashworth, Capital Economics’ chief North America economist, said Trump’s tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China were “just the first strike in what could become a very destructive global trade war.” He said he expects European Union imports to be targeted in the next couple of months, with universal tariffs — much heralded by Trump on the campaign trail — expected in April. The economic impact will be significant for all countries involved, according to Ashworth. “Since exports to the U.S. account for around 20% of their GDP, today’s tariffs could plunge both the ********* and ******** economies into recession later this year,” he wrote. “The resulting surge in U.S. inflation from these tariffs and other futures measures is going to come even faster and be larger than we initially expected.” Source link #doesnt #Canada #Mexico #China #respond #Trumps #tariffs Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
