  2. Asus ROG Falchion Ace HFX review: epic features on a 65% keyboard Asus ROG Falchion Ace HFX review: epic features on a 65% keyboard Why you can trust TechRadar We spend hours testing every product or service we review, so you can be sure you’re buying the best. Find out more about how we test. Asus ROG Falchion Ace HFX: one-minute review Asus has introduced another fantastic keyboard with the ROG Falchion Ace HFX. This 65% board, which compresses only the most essential keys onto a short panel, offers immense functionality across several areas. The drawcard of the Falchion Ace HFX is its incredible switches. While the standard Falchion Ace is available with three switch choices, the HFX only offers one tactile feel option – comfortable to the touch magnetic keys, making this Asus’ first hall effect keyboard. It’s one of the most satisfying keyboards to use that I’ve ever laid my hands on. Despite not offering a wireless connection, it does include a dual USB-C arrangement so that it can quickly switch between two computers with a press of a button on the side, similar to how a monitor might switch between devices. A USB dongle or Bluetooth solution might have been more practical to pull this trick off, but it’s still a welcome ability. (Image credit: Zachariah Kelly / TechRadar) More interesting to me is the return of Asus’ proprietary touch bar, a unique design element of the Falchion series that compresses media controls, volume, keyboard RGB brightness and other handy features into a touch panel, letting you adjust settings with taps and swipes of your finger. This feature rocked and is much more intuitive than a FN + key macro solution, though the depth of macroing with this keyboard is immense, allowing you to arrange quick commands, website hotkeys and quick Windows commands with a bindable keystroke. With so much positive to say about the ROG Falchion Ace HFX, there aren’t many drawbacks, although the ones that are there might keep you from a purchase. This board doesn’t come cheap and is one of the most expensive options that Asus offers. The lack of a wireless variant will also leave buyers cutting down on cable clutter unimpressed, and those seeking wrist support will need to make a separate purchase. More diehard keyboard shoppers will also be left unimpressed by the lack of hot-swapping functionality, and that there’s only one switch type available (though the standard ROG Falchion offers three different options). It’s a tremendous piece of kit. The ROG Falchion Ace HFX is one of the keyboards to beat in 2025, and it may be my favourite keyboard since the Logitech G PRO X TKL. Asus ROG Falchion Ace HFX: price and availability (Image credit: Zachariah Kelly / TechRadar) How much does it cost? $199/£239.99/$AU$359 When is it available? Available now Where can you get it? Available in the US, ***, Australia and other regions The ROG Falchion Ace HFX is the fourth most expensive keyboard that Asus offers, below the base model Azoth, customizable Claymore II, and the extremely expensive Azoth Extreme. The price marked for the Ace HFX is reflective of the epic magnetic switches underlying its awesome-feeling keys, but given its 65% size profile, it lacks a lot of the typically essential buttons present in the higher-priced models, including a dedicated function row and numpad. Not that you should feel you need to move up the range for said features, because the Falchion Ace HFX is more than competent and exclusive on its own terms. Compared to the competition, it’s one of the only options to offer magnetic switches on a 65% board. You may want to consider the Logitech G Pro X 60 if you want an even smaller board, or the Glorious GMMK 3 Pro 65 if you want greater customization, but there aren’t many major brands offering magnetic switches right now. Asus ROG Falchion Ace HFX: specs Swipe to scroll horizontally Layout: 65% Switch: ROG HFX Magnetic Switch Programmable keys: Yes Dimensions: 12.40 x 4.52 x 1.37 inches / 315 x 115 x 35 mm RGB or backlighting: Yes (customizable) Asus ROG Falchion HFX: design and features (Image credit: Zachariah Kelly / TechRadar) More reserved ROG design Brilliant build quality Useful multifunction panel and dual computer support Asus’ ROG gaming accessories are at their best when they don’t look too gamery, and the Falchion HFX looks fairly neutral compared to many other high-end boards offered by the manufacturer. Available only in ******, the one thing about this board that I would consider a tad excessive from a design perspective is the spelling out of ‘Republic of Gamers’ across the top. RGB lights behind each key are programmable with several lighting animations available. At the top left, you’ll see an illuminated symbol, indicating which setting you’ve got your multi-function touch panel set to, cycleable with the press of a multifunction button in the top left. The panel across the back can be swiped with a fingertip, and can be used to adjust brightness and volume, change key actuation points, play and pause media, or even pull off any dedicated macros you have in mind. In the Armory Crate app, you can limit which functions the cycling button switches between, allowing for a more streamlined experience (I simply have it set to volume and media controls). This touch bar isn’t a new feature, as it’s been available on other Falchion models since 2022, but it works especially well on a small board like this. There are also lights at the top right, indicating if win lock has been activated, if caps lock is currently on, and if ‘Rapid Trigger’ has been enabled, allowing for much quicker keystroke response times than whatever your preset mode is set to. Your keyboard’s RGB lighting and per key actuation points can also be adjusted in the ROG Armory Crate app, where you’ll find Speed Tap mode. This changes the function of the keyboard to allow for quicker directional changes by prioritising the last pressed in key – so instead of coming to a full stop when strafing in a game, you’ll move left to right or vice versa without lifting your fingers off the keys. Asus ROG Falchion HFX: Performance (Image credit: Zachariah Kelly / TechRadar) 8,000Hz polling rate Magnetic hall effect switches with five layer dampening Useful competitive gaming features The Asus ROG Falchion HFX is a gaming keyboard aimed at competitive play, through and through. It offers an exceptional 8,000Hz polling rate – an enormous amount of reports the keyboard provides your computer in a second, theoretically improving response time. As a result of this, click latency is as low as 1.1ms on average with the Falchion HFX. The keys feel coarse in a comfortable way, allowing for satisfying tactile contact between your fingertips and your inputs. A raised dot on the W key allows you to position your hands for gaming without looking down, brilliant for low-light battle stations. The actuation point of your keys can be adjusted readily on the fly using the multi-function touch panel, allowing for much more shallow keypresses if you so wish. Backing all of this up is the fact that the keys are magnetic, and well damped to allow for a satisfying press while also being quick and not too loud. On the less technical side, the keyboard has three adjustment angles with two sets of feet underneath. Many of these features may go above and beyond the needs of a casual gamer and indeed are well past the desires of somebody just after a useful typing tool. But for a dedicated gamer, the ROG Falchion HFX might be the exact device for your hobby. Mechanical keyboard enthusiasts will likely be disappointed by the lack of hot-swappable keys, and that there’s only one switch to choose from. Thankfully, the base model ROG Falchion offers more switch variety – the Falchion HFX is more of a performance model with its magnetic keys. Should I buy the Asus ROG Falchion HFX? 3. Stars arrive at Oscars with best picture up for grabs Stars arrive at Oscars with best picture up for grabs As the stars arrive for the Academy Awards, there’s no clear frontrunner among Anora, The Brutalist, Conclave and other movies contending for the prestigious best picture prize. Timothee Chalamet and Demi Moore are vying for their first Oscars at the red-carpet ceremony in Hollywood. The show will air live on the US network ABC starting at 4pm Pacific time on Sunday (11am AEDT on Monday). Among the early arrivals, Ariana Grande did her Glinda proud in a pale pink stunner on the Oscars red carpet as glam got off to a strong start. Others went for bold red, classic ****** and pops of pink. Grande wore a look from the Schiaparelli spring-summer 2025 collection. It was a perfect Glinda ode with no straps and a structured skirt that fell into airy pleats. Julianne Hough kicked things off in an elegant light beige ethereal look straight off the Christian Dior spring 2025 runway. Comedian and host Conan O’Brien said he planned to mix jokes, celebrations of film makers and serious moments including tributes to Los Angeles as it recovers from January’s wildfires. He likely will address US politics but not dwell on it, he said. “Good jokes are really important, but there’s also more than that,” O’Brien told reporters last week as he prepared for his first Oscars hosting gig. “We’re trying to go for different tones, different textures.” This year’s Oscars race has featured twists and turns, and no movie has dominated the precursor film awards. Any of three films could score best picture, according to Oscars pundits. One is Anora, the story of a sex worker with a shot at a Cinderella story. The other two are The Brutalist, about a Jewish immigrant and architect chasing the American dream, and Conclave, which imagines the secret proceedings for choosing a pontiff. Presenting this year’s Best Picture nominees:• Anora• The Brutalist• A Complete Unknown• Conclave• Dune: Part Two• Emilia Pérez• I’m Still Here• Nickel Boys• The Substance• WickedWatch the 97th #Oscars LIVE on Sunday, March 2nd, at 7e/4p on ABC and Hulu. pic.twitter.com/LW3ePtHAjj— The Academy (@TheAcademy) February 27, 2025 Others in the best picture field include blockbuster musical Wicked, a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, and A Complete Unknown, the Bob Dylan biopic starring Chalamet. Netflix musical Emilia Perez heads into the ceremony with the most nominations. But its chances of victory dwindled when offensive social media posts surfaced from star Karla Sofia Gascon. The actress, the first openly transgender person nominated for an acting Oscar, disappeared from the awards circuit but is expected to attend Sunday’s ceremony. Her co-star, Zoe Saldana, is the favourite to win the supporting actress trophy for playing a fixer who helps a ******** drug lord transition to a woman and start a new life. Winners of the gold Oscar statuettes are chosen by the roughly 11,000 actors, producers, directors and film craftspeople who make up the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Supporting actor nominee Kieran Culkin is the favourite for his role as a man who travels with his cousin to Poland to study family history in A Real Pain. Best actor could go to either Chalamet or The Brutalist star Adrien Brody, according to awards experts. Brody became the youngest best actor winner when he landed the prize at age 29 for The Pianist in 2002. Chalamet is nine months younger than Brody was at the time. Best actress is widely expected to go to Moore for The Substance, although one pundit said the category could produce an upset win for Brazil’s Fernanda Torres of I’m Still Here. The academy has increased its international membership, which could favour Torres, said Ian Sandwell, movies editor at Digital Spy. “She could well be a surprise and the only one to take it away from Demi on the night,” Sandwell said. Producers scrapped the annual tradition of having musicians perform each of the nominated original songs, saying they wanted to focus instead on the songwriters. with AP Source link #Stars #arrive #Oscars #picture #grabs Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
  4. US senator joins Elon Musk in calling for withdrawal from NATO US senator joins Elon Musk in calling for withdrawal from NATO Elon Musk shared his support for the US leaving NATO and the UN on Saturday night and was joined in the cause by Utah Sen. Mike Lee. The head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) took to X to write “I agree” to a post stating “It’s time to leave NATO and the UN” Musk is joined by several Republican lawmakers, such as Lee, who have questioned U.S. membership of NATO. Lee, who has criticized NATO for quite some time, has said that the alliance is a “great deal for Europe” but a “raw deal for America.” He has suggested that US resources are being used to defend Europe while doing little to protect America. “Get us out of NATO,” Lee wrote on X on Saturday. Musk’s statement comes as the Trump administration is making clear that it may turn its back on its traditional allies. That includes America’s future in NATO. Lee said on X that it was a “good time” to leave the alliance. Trump has on many occasions pushed European nations to spend more on defense, arguing that the US is carrying too heavy a burden to keep the alliance safe. US Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) speaks during Supreme Court Justice nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing for Supreme Court Justice in the Hart Senate Office Building on October 12, 2020 in Washington, DC. He has suggested that the US should leave NATO (Getty Images) Musk, the richest person in the world, appears to have significant sway in the Trump administration, joining the president for a cabinet meeting and press conferences in the Oval Office. His support for the U.S. to depart NATO may be an indication that the idea is taking hold in the White House. The US leaving the alliance would significantly change the national security of what has been known as the West. European leaders have shared their concerns regarding Trump’s commitment to the alliance, specifically about Russia and its invasion of Ukraine. Even as Lee and Musk call for the U.S. to depart the alliance, Trump has continued to speak to NATO allies, welcoming U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron to the White House in the past week. But he also had a blowup with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office on Friday as Vice President JD Vance accused Zelensky of not showing enough gratitude to the U.S. Zelensky has long argued that Ukraine should be allowed to join NATO as a security guarantee against Russia. Just days after his inauguration, Trump said the U.S. was protecting members of the alliance, but they were “not protecting us.” The president once again pushed for NATO members to spend five percent of their GDP on defense, a level far above the current two percent goal and a level that no member state, including the U.S., currently satisfies. Last year, Trump said he would urge Russia to do “whatever the hell they want” to any NATO member which failed to meet spending targets — completely disregarding the alliance’s Article 5 that an attack on one is an attack on all. The article has only been used once following the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. in 2001. The alliance currently has 32 members — 30 European nations and the US and Canada. 7. Lazio inflict third straight Serie A loss on Milan Lazio inflict third straight Serie A loss on Milan AC Milan have fallen further into crisis as an added-time penalty condemned them to a 2-1 defeat at home to Lazio. Despite being reduced to 10 men, Milan managed to level in the 84th minute but Pedro converted a penalty in the eighth minute of stoppages on Sunday. This was Milan’s third straight Serie A loss amid a disastrous run that also saw the Rossoneri ****** out of the Champions League. Milan dropped to ninth in the standings and were leapfrogged by Roma after Claudio Ranieri’s team fought back to beat 10-man Como 2-1. Roma were trailing at home to Como following Lucas Da Cunha’s goal on the stroke of halftime. But the match changed in the 61st minute. Alexis Saelemaekers, who had only just come off the bench, saw his effort deflected by Como defender Edoardo Goldaniga and go in off the underside of the crossbar. It quickly got worse for the away side as they almost immediately went down to 10 men when defender Marc-Oliver Kempf was sent off following a second yellow card. Halftime substitute Artem Dovbyk scored the winner in the 76th, volleying in a cross from Devyne Rensch — who had been on the field for less than two minutes. Victory lifts Roma up to eighth, six points below Juventus, who host Hellas Verona on Monday. Lazio climbed back into fourth place — one point above Juve — and were looking to get back to winning ways following two Serie A draws and being knocked out of the Italian Cup midweek by league leaders Inter, also at San Siro. Mattia Zaccagni gave the visitors the lead in the 28th minute. His initial attempt was saved by Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan but Zaccagni tapped in the rebound. Milan’s chances of getting something from the match diminished in the 67th when defender Strahinja Pavlovic was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi. Milan nevertheless managed to find an 84th-minute equaliser when an unmarked Samuel Chukwueze headed in at the far post. But there was even later drama when Lazio were awarded a penalty on video review after Maignan brought down forward Gustav Isaksen. Pedro struck the spot kick into the bottom right corner. Elsewhere, sixth-placed Bologna rallied to beat relegation-threatened Cagliari 2-1 and Torino won 2-0 at bottom club Monza. Empoli, who surprisingly knocked defending champions Juventus out of the Italian Cup midweek, drew 1-1 at Genoa to remain in the bottom three, one point from safety. After a European summit in London, Zelensky faced reporters’ questions ahead of boarding a flight to leave the ***. Laura Kuenssberg asked him about reports Macron had shared news of the proposed deal with French newspaper Le Figaro. 12. ‘New Ukraine peace deal’ and Zelensky’s ‘king-size welcome’ ‘New Ukraine peace deal’ and Zelensky’s ‘king-size welcome’ Sir Keir Starmer’s announcement that the *** and France would lead a “coalition of the willing” to help end fighting in Ukraine leads most of Monday’s front pages. Speaking after a defence summit in London, the prime minister said a lasting ceasefire plan would have to be “delivered together” with the US in order to deter Russia, the Guardian says. Sir Keir also revealed a number of countries had indicated they want to be part of the plans, but he declined to name them, the Financial Times reports. The PM’s remarks also make the front page of the Daily Express. The paper says the he told Europe’s leaders they must “step up” to ensure conflict does not spread across the continent. The Daily Telegraph reports the prime minister’s announcement of a £1.6bn deal to supply advanced air defence missiles to Ukraine. Meanwhile, it adds Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said she would present a “comprehensive plan” to urgently “re-arm Europe”. When asked about the peace deal plans, Zelensky smiled and said: “I am aware of everything”, the Times reports. The paper says he also insisted Ukraine’s turbulent relations with Donald Trump’s administration “will pass”, and that he would like the US president to “hear things from me personally”. An image of Zelensky meeting King Charles features on the front page of the i and several other papers. The i says the King flexed “soft power” in his hour-long meeting with the Ukranian leader, after he invited Donald Trump for a state visit. “King-size welcome,” is how the Sun describes the meeting between the King and Zelensky at Sandringham. The King’s invitation for Zelensky to visit Sandringham was a “pointed show of support”, the Daily Mail says, coming just two days after the Ukrainian president’s heated exchange with Donald Trump at the White House. It marked their third meeting since Ukraine was invaded in 2022, the Metro notes, adding that locals waved Ukrainian flags as Zelensky arrived by helicopter. The meeting between the King and Zelensky does merit a mention on the front page of the Daily Star. But its lead story is some “flipping great news” for its readers, revealing that the “crepe weather” is over, with Spring arriving just in time for Pancake Day. 14. ‘It underscores the severe impacts’ ‘It underscores the severe impacts’ Scientists are warning that if heat-trapping pollution continues to rise, sea levels will very likely climb half a meter to two meters (1.6 to 6.6 feet) by the end of this century, a range that is 90 centimeters (about three feet) higher than the latest United Nations projections. What’s happening? A team of researchers from the Netherlands and Singapore say that under a high emissions scenario, the very likely range of sea-level rise would significantly surpass projections from the United Nations. Very likely means a 90% probability that this could happen. “Under a low-emissions scenario, the fusion’s very likely range of global mean sea-level rise is 0.3–1.0 m by 2100,” according to the team’s research article published in Advancing Earth and Space Sciences journal Earth’s Future. Under a high-emissions scenario, the likely range is 0.5-1.9 meters. The scientists behind the article employed a new method known as the “fusion approach” to calculate sea level projections. The key points of this improved approach include fusing “the complementary strengths of alternative projections of sea-level rise” and using “a single probabilistic projection that quantifies a best estimate of scientific uncertainty.” Why are these new sea-level rise projections important? The latest projection range points out how much uncertainty there is regarding sea-level rise. The researchers say that a high-end projection of nearly two meters especially highlights the need for the future plans of decision-makers to take precautions to protect critical infrastructure. “This NTU research represents a significant breakthrough in sea-level science. By estimating the probability of the most extreme outcomes, it underscores the severe impacts of sea-level rise on coastal communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems, emphasizing the urgent need to address the climate crisis,” said director of Earth Observatory of Singapore at NTU and co-author of the study Professor Benjamin Horton, per Phys.org. Watch now: Climate scientist dispels misconception that burning wood pollutes more than burning dirty energy Researchers tied sea-level rise to the extinction of a plant local to the Florida Keys. Our overheating planet is warming the oceans and melting ice sheets fast enough that it could dramatically alter coastal states. Miami may be the canary in the coal mine when it comes to cities already dealing with the impacts of rising water levels. Rescuers were called into Florida’s second-most populous city last summer during a rare flash flood emergency. What’s being done about rising sea levels? According to the Environmental Protection Agency, adaptation strategies include building flood barriers to protect infrastructure and elevating or relocating facilities. The EPA also recommends protecting nearby wetlands, as they provide a buffer during storm surge events. Drastically reducing the amount of heat-trapping gases released into Earth’s atmosphere is the most effective way to combat sea-level rise. This will require embracing renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and geothermal energy. Modernizing our homes by upgrading to LED bulbs, signing up for community solar, and unplugging energy vampires are all ways we can help. Ukraine’s president told reporters that despite a fractious meeting with US President Donald Trump last week, he is still willing to have a “constructive dialogue” with the US, but said: “I just want the Ukrainian position to be heard.” “We want our partners to remember who the aggressor is in this war,” he added. When relations between the US and Ukraine first became strained over the Trump administration’s handing of peace talks with Russia, the minerals deal was intended as a stepping stone towards further security ties between the two countries. But after Zelensky, Trump and US Vice-President JD Vance had a heated argument in front of the media in the Oval Office, the Ukrainian leader was told to leave without the deal being signed. Zelensky’s remarks come as US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told the BBC’s US partner CBS News it was “impossible to have an economic deal without a peace deal”. Bessent said Zelensky had “thrown off the sequencing” of how the minerals deal and peace deal were supposed to play out – instead choosing to “relitigate” discussions in public when they should have taken place in private. Speaking after a summit of European leaders in London on Sunday, Zelensky said the combative nature of his recent meeting in Washington did not benefit the US or Ukraine as partners, and only really benefited Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, he said that he would return to the White House if invited. But he refused to be drawn into talking about about conceding territory to Putin – an option Trump officials have touted as part of a peace deal – or expressing regret in how he had handled the meeting with Trump. Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and currently controls around 20% of Ukrainian territory. Zelensky was talking to the media in London following a summit during which world leaders agreed on a four-point plan to work with Ukraine to stop the war and defend it from future Russian aggression. The ***, France and other countries will form a “coalition of the willing” would step up their efforts and seek to involve the US in their support for Ukraine, according to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. 17. Lenovo gave its latest 16-inch ThinkBook a bevy of funky concept screen accessories Lenovo gave its latest 16-inch ThinkBook a bevy of funky concept screen accessories The ThinkBook line has sort of become Lenovo’s de facto testing ground for far-out ideas and ambitious concepts. See the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable we saw just a couple months ago at CES. But at MWC 2025, the company is pushing things further than ever through the new ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 and four of its display accessories — which range from practical add-ons to something that’s more like a Tamagotchi. The ThinkBook 16P powering all of Lenovo’s crazy concept accessories isn’t all that different from the company’s previous 16-inch workstations. It sports up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 2785HX chip with as much as 64GB of RAM, 2TB of PCIe storage and an NVIDIA RTX 5070 GPU. You get the choice of either a 3.2K IPS display with a 165Hz refresh rate or a slightly lower-res 2.5K IPS panel with a faster 240Hz refresh. There’s also plenty of connectivity including dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, three USB-A jacks, a full-size HDMI 2.1 and a card reader. Lenovo’s Magic Bay 2nd Display Concept attached to the ThinkBook 16p Gen 6. (Sam Rutherford for Engadget) One interesting addition is that Lenovo included a discrete NPU (separate from its main chip) that offers up to 32 TOPS of additional performance. This should provide a nice boost, particularly for anyone who needs to run demanding AI tasks locally. That said, for the rest of us lay folk, it’s largely unnecessary. However, the real spectacle is Lenovo’s assortment of accessories. They all connect to the ThinkBook 16P using the company’s Magic Bay docking system, which was first introduced to this product family a couple generations ago. For people who constantly yearn for extra space to multitask while traveling, Lenovo has two add-ons to choose from. The Magic Bay 2nd Display Concept is a small 8-inch screen that attaches magnetically to the ThinkBook 16P. It can be used simply as an external monitor or as an AI dashboard that displays widgets, messaging apps and other tools. 1 / 8 Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 with select Magic Bay Display concepts Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 with select Magic Bay Display concepts On the flipside, the Magic Bay Dual Display Concept adds not one but two additional 13.3-inch panels that flank the notebook’s primary screen, giving you a huge amount of real estate for pretty much anything. In addition to using the laptop’s mounting system, this prototype also features a built-in kickstand to help keep the whole contraption stable. This is important because while it is rather complicated compared to most accessories, once you get everything set up, it really does a good job of recreating the multi-monitor workstations people have at home or in their office. Lenovo Magic Bay Tiko Pro Concept display (Lenovo) As for Lenovo’s remaining two concepts, they are so new the company wasn’t able to show them off during my preview session. The Tiko Pro Concept looks like an even more streamlined take on 2nd Display, as it’s a slim panel with an extra-wide aspect ratio that’s meant to sit across the top of the laptop’s display, sort of like an external notification shade. Meanwhile, the non-pro Tiko Concept is a circular screen that houses an AI companion with its own set of emoji-based faces, gesture-based responses and more. In case that’s not enough, Lenovo even teased a cat-themed headband that adds little ears to your robotic friend. At this point, you may be asking how the Tiko is supposed to increase your productivity? And for that, I can only guess that having a friendly face around might boost your mood and thus improve your productivity. Or at the very least, it could be a more charming way of seeing stuff like Slack reactions. Honestly, I have no idea, and I’m not sure Lenovo does either. 1 / 10 Lenovo Magic Bay Tiko AI companion concept Lenovo Magic Bay Tiko AI companion concept Now I have to stress again that all of these accessories are concepts, so there’s no guarantee that they’ll ever officially go on *****. Lenovo says they are merely prototypes meant to help expand and explore how its Magic Bay docking system could be used in the future. But in a time when so many PC makers seem to be having trouble thinking up ways to innovate, it’s clear Lenovo isn’t being shy about thinking outside the box. Sadly, the ThinkBook 16P Gen 6 is not slated to be available in North America, but for those in Europe and Asia, keep an eye out for it to go on ***** sometime this spring or summer. 18. Late drama for winners Marseille, Lyon in Ligue 1 Late drama for winners Marseille, Lyon in Ligue 1 Forwards Amine Gouiri and Mason Greenwood have scored late goals as second-placed Marseille beat Nantes 2-0 to stay three points clear of Nice in the French league. Greenwood looped a pass over the defence and Valentin Rongier pulled the ball back to Gouiri, who finished neatly in the 73rd minute on Sunday. Four minutes later, Greenwood beat three defenders before curling in his 15th league goal of the season. He is three behind Ligue 1 top scorer Ousmane Dembele of unbeaten leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who are 13 points ahead of Marseille. Earlier, Alexandre Lacazette made up for giving away an early penalty by scoring twice as Lyon beat Brest 2-1 in a match where Lyon coach Paulo Fonseca was sent off deep into added time for angrily reacting to a potential Brest penalty. After being red-carded, an irate Fonseca then confronted referee Benoit Millot and leaned in very close to his face before being pushed away by Lyon captain Corentin Tolisso. Fonseca tried to confront the referee a second time and was restrained by a couple of Lyon players. The Portuguese coach apologised afterwards but could face a lengthy suspension. “I just want to say that I’m sorry for what I did. I should not do it,” Fonseca told broadcaster DAZN. “Maybe we do things that are not right. I’m sorry.” The handball decision itself then went to a video replay and a penalty was not given. Millot said Fonseca’s behaviour was unacceptable. “He rushed toward me with an intimidating attitude and I decided to send him off directly,” he told sports daily L’Equipe. “There was, it seems, a slight contact with the nose. (It was) a particularly intimidating, aggressive attitude, which one can hardly imagine from a professional coach.” This incident came after Marseille president Pablo Longoria accused French referees of “true corruption” following a defeat last weekend. Longoria was given a 15-match ban. The victory consolidated Lyon’s grip on sixth place while Lacazette moved onto nine league goals and 194 overall for the club. Elsewhere, Rennes won 4-0 at rock-bottom Montpellier to move up to 11th ahead of next Saturday’s home game with PSG. Auxerre lost 1-0 at home to seventh-placed Strasbourg and Toulouse won 4-0 at Angers. Source link #Late #drama #winners #Marseille #Lyon #Ligue Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  19. The Lenovo Solar PC Concept feels like a device whose time has come The Lenovo Solar PC Concept feels like a device whose time has come You might be surprised to learn that the first laptop with built-in solar panels is nearly 15 years old. But to me, the ******* shock is that with all the recent advancements in photovoltaic cells, manufacturers haven’t revisited this idea more often. But at MWC 2025, Lenovo is changing that with its Yoga Solar PC Concept. Weighing 2.6 pounds and measuring less than 0.6 inches thick, the Yoga Solar PC Concept is essentially the same size as a standard 14-inch clamshell. And because its underlying design isn’t all that different from Lenovo’s standard Yoga family, it doesn’t skimp on specs either. It features an OLED display, up to 32GB of RAM, a decent-sized 50.2 WHr battery and even a 2MP IR webcam for use with Windows Hello. However, all those components aren’t nearly as important as the solar cells embedded in its lid. Lenovo says the panels use Back Contact Cell technology so that its mounting brackets and gridlines can be placed on the rear of the cells. This allows the panels to offer up to 24 percent solar energy conversion, which is pretty good as that matches the efficiency you get from many high-end home solar systems. Furthermore, the PC also supports Dynamic Solar Tracking to automatically adjust the cells’ settings to maximize the amount of energy they can gather. 1 / 5 Lenovo Yoga Solar PC Concept hands-on photo Lenovo Yoga Solar PC Concept hands-on photo Lenovo says this means the Yoga Solar PC can generate enough juice to play an hour of videos after only 20 minutes in the sun. But what might be more impressive is that even when the laptop is indoors, it can still harvest power from as little as 0.3 watts of light to help top off its battery. Finally, to help you understand how much power it’s gathering, Lenovo created a bespoke app to track how much light the panels absorb. Unfortunately, Lenovo doesn’t have any plans to turn this concept into a full commercial device. But after playing around with it, I was pleasantly surprised to see how solid and sturdy its chassis felt. Unlike a lot of prototype devices, the Yoga Solar PC Concept doesn’t feel like that much of a stretch technologically compared to other notebooks on ***** today. Its PV cells sit safely behind a sheet of glass (or possibly plastic, Lenovo wouldn’t confirm which one) while also adding a bit of distinctive visual flair. However, the biggest hurdle (and possibly a big reason why we haven’t seen more laptops like this) is that for people who want to use solar panels to charge their devices, it’s probably easier and more versatile to rely on a standalone solar array instead of something built-in to the gadget itself. Regardless, Lenovo’s Yoga Solar PC is a surprisingly polished concept that I’d love to see get more attention in the future. 22. Lenovo teases solar-powered and foldable screen concept laptops Lenovo teases solar-powered and foldable screen concept laptops The Lenovo ThinkBook ‘flip’ concept. The screen is able to fold once horizontally to create two different screen spaces. CNBC: Lenovo Flip PC Lenovo on Monday showed off a laptop with a foldable screen and one that can get extra battery life from solar power. These laptops are just concepts, meaning they are not commercially available. Lenovo, the world’s biggest PC maker, has a history of showing off imaginative concepts with some becoming reality, so it’s worth keeping an eye on what the ******** technology giant is up to. For example, Lenovo previously showed off the idea of a rollable laptop — one where the screen rolls upwards to increase the size of the display. The company will begin selling such a laptop this year. The latest concepts were unveiled at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona. Foldable laptop screen The Lenovo ThinkBook ‘flip’ concept is a laptop with a foldable screen. When fully unfolded, the screen is an 18-inch display. The screen can then be folded in half horizontally to create two screens — one on the front and one on the back. The entire display can be folded down flat so the laptop turns into a tablet-like device. The Lenovo ThinkBook ‘flip’ concept unfolds into an 18-inch display. Arjun Kharpal | CNBC Foldable displays are not new. Consumer electronics players like Samsung and Honor have launched smartphones with foldable displays. Huawei even sells a smartphone with a trifold screen. But foldable screens of this size and on laptops are uncommon. There’s plenty more work Lenovo will likely need to do before this can be commercialized including improving the durability of the display. Solar powered laptop The Lenovo Yoga Solar PC is another concept device shown off at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2025. It has solar panels on the pack which Lenovo says can give the user extra battery life. Arjun Kharpal | CNBC The Lenovo Yoga Solar PC is the company’s other concept device named after its line of Yoga laptops. The product has solar panels on the back. These are able to absorb light. While the PC still works with a traditional charger, the idea is that the solar power can give the user an extra bit of battery when the device is running low and there may not be access to a charging point. Lenovo said that the solar panels can absorb even ambient light in a person’s surroundings to give a user an extra hour of laptop use at the end of an eight-hour work day. 24. Lenovo’s codename Flip is another wild take on a flexible-screen laptop Lenovo’s codename Flip is another wild take on a flexible-screen laptop Lenovo hasn’t even released its . But that hasn’t stopped the company from taking that notebook’s core components and remixing it into a whole new thing at MWC 2025. Officially called the ThinkBook codename Flip AI PC Proof of concept (yes, that is its official name and it’s a real mouthful), the laptop uses the same flexible OLED featured in its rollable sibling, except this time instead of disappearing inside its chassis, the display folds outwards. This allows what is normally a 13-inch panel to double in size to 18.1 inches at a moment’s notice. Notably, because the Flip’s screen bends instead of sliding in and out of the bottom half of the system, Lenovo can utilize the panel’s full area unlike the ThinkBook Rollable, which can only extend up to 16.7 inches. In its vertical mode, this provides a ton of extra space for documents or multitasking. However, the screen can also be folded back into tablet mode or something akin to a 2-in-1’s tent mode for times when you might want to share your display with someone on the other side of the table. Sam Rutherford for Engadget Somewhat impressively, a fancy monitor isn’t the only trick the Flip has. Down below, Lenovo created what it calls a Smart ForcePad, which features a three-layer illuminated dashboard that adds customizable controls and icons to its surface. It’s a neat trick that expands what a basic touchpad can do, though it’s not exactly a huge leap from what we’ve seen on rival machines from and others. Finally, on the inside, the Flip should have solid performance thanks to the inclusion of an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB of RAM and PCIe SSD storage. As a fan of anything with a flexible screen, it’s fascinating to see how quickly Lenovo was able to take the components used in the ThinkBook Plus Gen6 Rollable and turn them into something else. That said, as this was a very early prototype (a Lenovo representative said it was only one of two in the world at the time), there are some obvious issues that need to be ironed out before this thing ever gets close to an official release. 1 / 7 Lenovo codename Flip AI PC concept hands-on photo Lenovo codename Flip AI PC concept hands-on photo The first is that for a system with a screen this tall, its hinge wasn’t fully up to the task of keeping everything stable, as even a light tap would cause the whole panel to sway back and forth in a disconcerting way. The model I used also lacked that kickstand that appears in some of Lenovo’s promotional images, which would have further increased its sturdiness. However, the biggest potential problem with the Flip may be difficult to address because it’s inherent to its core design. When the laptop is collapsed down into a clamshell for traveling, the way its screen folds exposes the flexible display to items that might scratch it. And while it’s possible to get around this by using a form-fitting laptop sleeve, that seems a bit too dangerous, even for someone like me who’s been using foldable phones for half a decade. Upon further consideration, I wouldn’t be surprised if this design challenge is a big reason Lenovo decided to bring the ThinkBook Rollable to market instead of the Flip. Currently, Lenovo has no plans to bring the Flip to full production, but even so, it’s nice seeing what a company can come up with when it’s not scared to show off unfinished devices.
