Who will qualify for the Champions League, Europa and Conference League permutations
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says his side will have to “fight until the end” in the race to secure a Champions League spot after slipping up on Saturday.
City could have taken a huge step towards sealing a top-five spot, but drew 0-0 at rock bottom Southampton.
They are now only two points above Newcastle and Chelsea – who meet on Sunday – plus Aston Villa, who beat Bournemouth on Saturday evening.
Seventh-placed Nottingham Forest, who play relegated Leicester on Sunday, are four points behind City.
After the Saints draw, Guardiola said his side had three cup finals left – including next weekend’s actual FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.
“I didn’t expect differently from a month ago, that it’s a fight until the end,” he said.
City could find themselves outside the Champions League places before they play in the league again (against Bournemouth on Tuesday, 20 May) – because most of their rivals will have played once or twice before then.
Only champions Liverpool have sealed a Champions League place so far but second-placed Arsenal, who visit Anfield on Sunday, will hope to soon join them.

Marcus Harris keeps staking Test claim with another ton
Marcus Harris keeps staking Test claim with another ton
Marcus Harris has staked one last impressive claim to be included in Australia’s squad for the World Test Championship final as the most prolific batter in England this summer scored a third century for Lancashire in just over a month.
With the squad for the showpiece Lord’s final having to be submitted to the ICC by Monday, the rejuvenated former Test left-hander delivered one more reminder of his enduring quality by scoring 121 against Darren Lehmann-coached Northamptonshire on Saturday.
If there’s any qualms about the young gun Sam Konstas being able to handle the opening spot against South Africa, former opener Harris keeps shaping as a potential safe pair of hands to turn to at the top of the order with his bagful of runs in the county game.
His five-hour, 230-ball knock on not the easiest Northampton pitch, an effort which featured 18 boundaries even if he did have the fortune of being dropped on 28 and 82, meant the 32 year-old has now compiled a county-leading 706 runs in nine knocks, featuring three 50s and three tons at an average of 88.25.
With those three hundreds, which had begun with 138 at Lord’s against Middlesex and continued with 167 on his home Old Trafford turf in his last match, he’s now amassed 140 runs more than any other batter in the country this season.
Still, Harris, who played the last of his 14 Tests in 2022, will doubtless not be holding his breath about featuring in the World Test final line-up. Two years ago, he was in the 15-player squad for the last final against India but ended up missing out to David Warner.
As in the rest of his innings this season, Harris has been thriving in the No.4 spot, not as opener, but it hasn’t stopped him flourishing against some decent county attacks.
This time he had to contend with some incisive bowling from Northants’ *********** pair of Liam Guthrie (2-72) and Harry Conway (3-48), who took half of the Lancashire wickets between them to keep their side in the hunt.
Lancashire were bowled out for 276, in response to Northants’ 238, and second-time around, Lehmann’s side battled to 6-140, leading by 102 runs.

This couple found their forever home in abandoned 37.5-acre Kentucky farmstead — and it only cost them $390K
As home prices soar and dreams of ownership slip away for many Americans, one couple decided to stop chasing the market and a new life from the ground up.
In spring 2024, Sophie Hilaire Goldie, 37, and her husband Rocky Goldie, 50, purchased a 37.5-acre fixer-upper homestead in rural Kentucky for $390,000 and began transforming it into their forever home.
Don’t miss
They are now dedicating their energy, time, and skills to remodeling the property into a self-sustaining lifestyle. Their plans include raising chickens, starting a dairy goat farm and launching a new skincare business.
“We are not moving,” Sophie said. “It’s weird even to think that’s an option because it’s not how we think. I have no interest in leaving — ever.”
From match to mortgage
Sophie, an Army veteran, and Rocky, a former Marine, met on Match.com. They quickly bonded over their shared love of the outdoors and their desire to embrace life.
When they started dating, Sophie transformed a friend’s Home Depot shed into a tiny home after spending two years living in a Sprinter van. Their second date was spent working together to build the shed.
“It was important for me while we were dating to see if we could work together on projects,” Sophie told CNBC.
After she returned from a trip through Southeast Asia, Rocky suggested they find a place of their own. They turned to Zillow and searched for rural properties with at least 10 acres and a sense of history.
A local photographer introduced them to a real estate agent, who showed them the abandoned property. It included two log cabins from the 1840s, a 2,200-square-foot home with four bedrooms and one bathroom, a 200-square-foot separate cabin and two barns — all on 37.5 acres.
The couple secured a 30-year mortgage with minimum monthly payments of $1,790, but they plan to pay off their home within five years. Sophie recently launched her own skincare company, Seoul + Soil, inspired by their natural lifestyle on the homestead. The business is part of a larger goal to become 85% to 90% self-sufficient.
“I think it’s the most excited I’ve ever been about anything,” Sophie said. “There’s nothing more entrepreneurial than just making up your life.”

Why homesteading may be a smart financial strategy
For the Goldies, homesteading is more than a lifestyle — it’s a financial strategy grounded in long-term resilience and freedom.
According to a 2022 survey by Homesteaders of America, nearly 40% of respondents said they had adopted homesteading within the past three years. Here’s how the Goldies are making it work:
Reduced Housing Costs: It’s rare to find a 37.5-acre property with existing infrastructure for less than $400,000. By purchasing this land, the couple is eliminating decades of future housing expenses and aiming to be mortgage-free within five years.
Income Diversification: Sophie’s skincare company is one source of income. Additional revenue may come from selling farm produce, hosting workshops or providing agritourism experiences such as farm stays.
Asset Appreciation: Historic properties on large rural land are increasingly seen as wise investments. Renovations and the addition of sustainable infrastructure can significantly increase long-term value.
Financial Resilience: A self-sufficient lifestyle that includes livestock, gardens and renewable energy systems can provide protection against inflation, food shortages and job loss.
For the Goldies, this bold experiment in modern homesteading is driven by passion and purpose.
“We only have a few more decades left, but we want to do 200 years’ worth of stuff,” Sophie says. “Everything we did brought us to where we are now, but it would be nice to be 20 and starting this.”

India and Pakistan accuse each other of ‘violations’ after ceasefire deal
India and Pakistan accuse each other of ‘violations’ after ceasefire deal
India and Pakistan have accused each other of “violations” hours after the two nations said they had agreed to a ceasefire following days of cross-border military strikes.
After sounds of explosions were heard in Indian-administered Kashmir, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said there had been “repeated violations of the understanding we arrived at”.
A short while later, Pakistan’s foreign ministry said it remained “committed to faithful implementation of a ceasefire…notwithstanding the violations being committed by India in some areas”.
The fighting between India and Pakistan over the last four days has been the worst military confrontation between the two rivals in decades.
The use of drones, missiles and artillery started when India struck targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir in response to a deadly militant attack in Pahalgam last month. Pakistan had denied any involvement.
After four days of cross-border strikes, India and Pakistan said they had agreed on a full and immediate ceasfire.
US President Donald Trump announced the news on his Truth Social Platform on Saturday morning. He said it had been brokered by the US.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister later confirmed the agreement had been reached by the two countries, adding that “three dozen countries” were involved in the diplomacy.
But hours after the announcement, residents – and BBC reporters – in the main Indian-administered Kashmiri cities of Srinagar and Jammu reported hearing the sounds of explosions and seeing flashes in the sky.
Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said: “For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding we arrived at earlier this evening.
“This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today.”
Misri said India’s armed forces was “giving an appropriate response” and he concluded his briefing by “calling upon Pakistan to address these violations”.
In response, a spokesman for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “Pakistan remains committed to faithful implementation of ceasefire between Pakistan and India, announced earlier today.
“Notwithstanding the violations being committed by India in some areas, our forces are handling the situation with responsibility and restraint.
“We believe that any issues in smooth implementation of the ceasefire should be addressed through communication at appropriate levels.
“The troops on ground should also exercise restraint.”
Kashmir is claimed in full by India and Pakistan, but administered only in part by each since they were partitioned following independence from Britain in 1947.
It has been a flashpoint between the two nuclear-armed nations and they have have fought two wars over it.
Confirming the ceasefire, India’s external affairs minister S Jaishankar said the two nations had “worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action”.
“India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so,” he added.
Later, in an address to the nation, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the ceasefire had been reached “for the benefit of everybody”.
Speaking after the ceasefire announcement, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said India and Pakistan had agreed to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site.
He said he and US Vice-President JD Vance had spent 48 hours with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including their respective Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said he welcomed “all efforts to de-escalate the conflict”.
*** Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said Britain has been “engaged” in talks for “some days”, with Foreign Secretary David Lammy speaking to both sides.
“I’m pleased to see today that there’s a ceasefire,” Sir Keir said. “The task now is to make sure that that is enduring and is lasting.”
The recent fighting came after two weeks of tension following the killing of 26 tourists in the resort town of Pahalgam.
Survivors of the 22 April attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, which killed 25 Indians and one Nepali national, said the militants were singling out Hindu men.
The Indian defence ministry said its strikes this week were part of a “commitment” to hold “accountable” those responsible for the attack. Pakistan described them as “unprovoked”.
Pakistan said Indian air strikes and cross-border fire since Wednesday had killed 36 people in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, while India’s army reported at least 21 civilians deaths from Pakistani shelling.
Fighting intensified overnight on Friday, with both countries accusing each other of targeting airbases and other military sites.

Suns’ belief grows despite 10-point loss to Dogs
Suns’ belief grows despite 10-point loss to Dogs
Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has lamented being turned over in the Top End but tipped his cap to a Gold Coast side that believe in their top-four credentials after a tense 10-point triumph.
The Bulldogs found answers all night as the Suns attempted to pull away, briefly leading in the third term then mounting a rousing late charge to cut a 28-point margin to three with three minutes to play.
Damien Hardwick was proud of his team’s scrap and poise when it counted though, their 15.16 (106) to 14.12 (96) win moving Gold Coast to 6-2 and into the top four.
It was a momentum hit for the in-form Bulldogs (5-4), who had won their past three and now sit in a crowded pack just inside the top-eight.
“To take the hit, it was a pretty important game,” Beveridge said.
“In that sense, it’s frustrating. It’s one that got away, but I think we’ve been beaten by a pretty good team.”
The midfield battle was intense and evenly split, with Gold Coast’s ability to force turnovers – and the Bulldogs’ unforced errors in defence – the difference.
“We gave them over 70 points from turnovers. Some of that you can give the Suns credit for, some of it was us not being good enough with the execution of skill,” Beveridge said.
“To be 28 points down in that last quarter, under the circumstances, the conditions, didn’t think we were playing that well, just to keep grinding, give ourselves a look at it … that’s worthwhile acknowledging.
“For the footy purist it’s probably ended up being a pretty good game, but someone’s got to wear the ‘L’ unfortunately.”
Hardwick said Will Graham’s second effort to thwart another Bulldogs surge, after he had hurt his shoulder, would become a symbolic moment for a club seeking a maiden finals appearance.
“We just showed the bit of vision to the boys,” Hardwick said.
“That’s what our footy club has to be built on the back of.
“That sort of effort.”
Victory comes after a disappointing loss to defending premiers Brisbane but is the second time they’ve held on for a tight win this season, after beating Adelaide by one point in round four.
In triple-premiership coach Hardwick’s first campaign last year they fell short in at least three winnable, close games.
“The guys have done a lot of work in that space, the challenge of being in those situations and playing those moments and understanding those moments,” Hardwick said.
“Noah (Anderson) and his leaders did a wonderful job stabilising the game at the back end.”
“The guys are getting a great understanding about what’s required to play a top-four side and hopefully build some confidence and belief as well.”
That progress will be tested again on Thursday night, when they put their perfect 7-0 Darwin record on the line against the second-placed Hawthorn.
Mac Andrew was cleared of concussion after a first-half head knock.
The Bulldogs will leave the Northern Territory with some concern over Laitham Vandermeer, who was subbed out with a calf injury in the third term.

Trump Said New Surgeon General Pick Could Be ‘One of the Finest’ in History. The Next Day, He Said ‘I Don’t Know Her’
Trump Said New Surgeon General Pick Could Be ‘One of the Finest’ in History. The Next Day, He Said ‘I Don’t Know Her’
On Wednesday, May 7, President Donald Trump announced that he was nominating Dr. Casey Means to be the new U.S. surgeon general, replacing his initial pick.
The nomination quickly drew scrutiny as Means is a wellness influencer who did not finish her medical residency and does not currently have a valid medical license.
Despite touting Means’ qualifications on Truth Social, Trump told reporters the following day that he doesn’t know her.
President Donald Trump recently announced a change of plans in his administration, withdrawing his previous nomination of Dr. Janette Nesheiwat as surgeon general and naming her replacement.
On Wednesday, May 7, the president’s Truth Social account revealed his new nomination of Dr. Casey Means, a medical professional and wellness influencer, who is closely linked to the “Make America Healthy Again” ideology espoused by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“Casey has impeccable ‘MAHA’ credentials, and will work closely with our wonderful Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to ensure a successful implementation of our Agenda in order to reverse the Chronic Disease Epidemic, and ensure Great Health, in the future, for ALL Americans,” Trump’s post read. “Her academic achievements, together with her life’s work, are absolutely outstanding.”
“Dr. Casey Means has the potential to be one of the finest Surgeon Generals in United States History,” the post continued.

However, less than 24 hours after Trump’s Truth Social post, the president backtracked when faced with questions about Means’ qualifications.
On Thursday morning, an Oval Office reporter asked Trump, “You just announced a new nominee for the U.S. surgeon general who never finished her residency and is not a practicing physician. Can you explain why you picked her to be America’s top doctor?”
“Because Bobby thought she was fantastic,” he answered, referring to RFK Jr.
“I don’t know her,” he added.

While Means completed her undergraduate degree and medical school at Stanford University, she never finished her surgical residency. In her book, Good Energy, and in public appearances, Means has said that her residency experience left her disillusioned with the state of modern medicine.
Ultimately, she did complete enough postgraduate work to qualify for a medical license in Oregon, and turned to alternative medicine. Her website purports her ultimate goal to be “working towards a healthier and happier planet by empowering people to understand their health and the limitless potential within them.”
It remains to be seen, however, if Means’ nomination will hold up to congressional scrutiny — particularly given that her medical license has been inactive since January 2024, according to Oregon public records.
Means clearly has a strong supporter in RFK Jr., who took to X on Thursday with a lengthy defense against Means’ critics.
“The attacks that Casey is unqualified because she left the medical system completely miss the point of what we are trying to accomplish with MAHA,” he wrote. “Casey is the perfect choice for Surgeon General precisely because she left the traditional medical system–not in spite of it.”

Kennedy then accused the medical industry and media outlets of paying influencers to “vilify” Means, adding, “But it will not work.”
“Every day, I wake up emboldened to drive change because I know the support of MAHA moms has my back,” he wrote. “Casey has played an integral role in galvanizing these moms. She will be the best Surgeon General in American history.”

The Dark Ages Director on Why the Game “Doesn’t directly lead directly into the 2016 Doom”
The Dark Ages Director on Why the Game “Doesn’t directly lead directly into the 2016 Doom”
Doom: The Dark Ages is one of the most highly anticipated games of 2025. While some gamers will get their preview with Early Access on May 13, most of the early reviews from critics have been very positive. There’s special praise for the game’s fast-paced combat, and of course, heavy metal soundtrack.
Ever since fans got their first look at Doom: The Dark Ages, it’s always been a big question where exactly the title would fit into the established Doom timeline. Initially, we were told that the game would be a prequel to the critically acclaimed Doom (2016). However, things are never that simple in life or video games, as is the case with Doom: The Dark Ages.
Doom: The Dark Ages is more than a simple prequel
A few weeks ago, GameRant got a chance to talk with Doom: The Dark Ages’ directors, Hugo Martin and Marty Stratton. As you’d expect with such interviews, the developers opened up about the development of the title and what players could expect to see once it hit the shelves.
The real spicy bit came when Martin was asked if Doom: The Dark Ages would directly connect to the story of Doom (2016) or if developer id Software is planning to leave some spaces open for future entries to explore. You might think that Martin would’ve brushed off this question with a simple “prequel” response, but that isn’t the case.
While there is a satisfying ending, it doesn’t lead directly into the 2016 Doom—that doesn’t happen.
Martin explains that Doom: The Dark Ages doesn’t end by directly connecting to the events of Doom (2016. The game isn’t supposed to be a setup for future titles either, and it brings a narrative that comes with its own beginning, middle, and end.
Doom: The Dark Ages is its own package. (Image via Microsoft)
id Software isn’t interested in selling people more post-launch DLCs, as Doom: The Dark Ages will be a complete package. The developers aimed to deliver a title that fans expected from the franchise. That’s why they have decided not to directly lead the prequel into the 2016 entry.
Doom: The Dark Ages disc requires a full game download
Doom: The Dark Ages’ physical disc forces you to download the full game. (Image via Microsoft)
The massive rise of online video game storefronts such as Epic Games, Steam, PlayStation Store, and Nintendo eShop allows us to instantly get our hands on the latest releases without having to go to a retailer for a physical copy.
However, millions of gamers still prefer physical discs over downloading games. One might say that they’re simply lost in the past, but let’s not forget about the issue of video game preservation. It’s a real concern, and only having physical control of your game on disks can help.
Considering id Software’s commitment to Doom: The Dark Ages, players might think that they’re not abandoning the physical release of the game. While there’s a physical edition, reports from Pure Xbox have suggested that players still have to download the entirety of the game.
Some players who’ve already received physical copies of the game have suggested that the Xbox version only contains 328 MB of data on the disk. The PlayStation version is even worse, as it’s just loaded with 85 MB of data.
Since the disc contains so little data, gamers can’t simply put it into their consoles and enjoy Doom: The Dark Ages. The developers are forcing players to download the entire game, which defeats the point of buying a physical disc altogether.
Doom: The Dark Ages is all set to release on May 15, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.

NORFOLK — Casino operator Boyd Gaming has pledged $1 million in support of Norfolk State University’s Tourism & Hospitality Management program.
Boyd Gaming is at helm of the Norfolk casino project planned by the Pamunkey Indian Tribe. Construction of the casino next to Harbor Park is underway and is expected to be completed in late 2027. A transitional gaming facility is scheduled to open at the end of this year.
The Nevada-based company will become the title sponsor of the hospitality program in the Norfolk State University’s School of Business. It will be called the Boyd Gaming Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management.
“Since we broke ground on our Norfolk casino resort project last year, Boyd Gaming and the Pamunkey Tribe have been committed to building a mutually beneficial partnership with our neighbors at Norfolk State University,” said Ron Bailey, Vice President and General Manager of the Norfolk casino, in a news release on Friday. “We look forward to working closely with our friends and partners at NSU in the years ahead as we build a best-in-class team, and create exciting career opportunities for Norfolk State graduates at our resort.”
The department will prepare the next generation of gaming professionals, said Javaune Adams-Gaston, President of Norfolk State University, in the release.
The $750 million casino will employ approximately 850 people in a variety of roles, including information technology, accounting, hospitality, security and gaming.
It will feature 1,500 slot machines and 50 table games, a 200-room hotel, eight food and beverage outlets, live entertainment and a 45,000-square-foot outdoor amenity deck.
Boyd and the Pamunkey Tribe have also pledged grants to Old Dominion University and Tidewater Community College to support educational and training opportunities in support of the Norfolk casino’s needs, according to Boyd.

10 Years Later, Bloodborne’s Happiest Ending Is Still Its Weirdest
10 Years Later, Bloodborne’s Happiest Ending Is Still Its Weirdest
It’s been a decade since Bloodborne first came out, and in true Hidetaka Miyazaki fashion, it had more than one ending, a feature in all the Souls games that fans love deeply. However, out of all the titles the renowned director has crafted up until now, the PlayStation exclusive arguably has the weirdest and most thought-provoking endings of all time.
Bloodborne features 3 different endings for the players to experience. Out of these, one of them is considered to be the ‘happiest’ one, perhaps because it is a better outcome than the other two. Moreover, being the better outcome doesn’t mean it was a good one; after all, we were left on a cliffhanger, another annoying feature we get to see in nearly all the Souls games.
Bloodborne’s best ending is also the weirdest one
Only one ending in Bloodborne offers Yharnam the best chance | FromSoftware
Among the three possible conclusions to FromSoftware’s gothic masterwork, this so-called happiest ending remains as one of the weirdest and most confusing conclusions to a Hidetaka Miyazaki title. It is the one where the protagonist is reborn as a squid, signifying he has become one of the Great Ones.
As I said earlier, the game has been out for a decade, yet it fails to provide a follow-up to the future of Yharnam. Players equally wonder what would have happened next after the protagonist’s supposed rebirth, with some of them even posting about it on the game’s subreddit and sarcastically calling the ending out as the ‘best one.’
To understand why turning into a tentacled Great One might be considered a “happy” ending, one must first accept that Bloodborne is not just a game about slaying monsters. This ending, often titled Childhood’s Beginning, is the one that offers the doomed city of Yharnam more hope than the other two endings in the game.
Why is Bloodborne’s happiest ending so special?
Players were left on a cliffhanger with this ending | FromSoftware
Unlocking this ending requires more than simply defeating bosses. It demands consuming three Umbilical Cords, which can be found throughout the gameplay by defeating bosses and exploring the world of Bloodborne.
In total, there are 4 different Cords that you can collect, and consuming three of them will open up an optional boss at the end of the game, which ultimately results in the Childhood’s Beginning ending for the players. On the outlook, turning into a squid might seem more of a humorous thing, but it essentially showcases a deeper meaning about humans and their transcendence.
Compared to the other two endings, being killed by Gehrman and replaced as the new Hunter of Hunters or defeating him only to be enslaved by the Moon Presence, Childhood’s Beginning offers more of an escape and a hope for the future, which players never see coming true, thanks to the lack of any follow-ups to the game.

Sinner roars back to hero’s welcome with win in Rome
Sinner roars back to hero’s welcome with win in Rome
Jannik Sinner has hailed his winning return to action as “an incredible moment” after his adoring fans in Rome cheered him to victory at the Italian Open following the end of his three-month doping ban.
The world No.1, playing his first match since winning the *********** Open in January, took no time to get back into the winning groove at the Foro Italico on Saturday, defeating Argentina’s Mariano Navone 6-3 6-4 in their second-round encounter.
Playing in front of a cheering 10,500 crowd in his home tournament, the 23-year-old, who had been given a bye in his opening match, looked almost as if he’d never been away as he earned victory in one hour and 38 minutes.
“It’s an amazing feeling. I’ve waited quite long for this moment. I’m very happy to be back,” Sinner said afterwards.
“It was an incredible moment for me, going again on court.
“I tried to prepare myself in the best way and control my mental thing in the best way, which I did, so I am very happy about that.”
Sinner broke once as he took the first set in 40 minutes against the world No.99 Navone, who then offered sterner resistance in the second before Sinner closed out his first match in more than 100 days with the orange-clad crowd on Campo Centrale serenading him with cries of “Ole, ole, ole, Sin-ner, Sin-ner!”
“The crowd was incredible,” Sinner said. “They always give me strength to continue even in tough times. So it was a very, very special moment.”
The win extended Sinner’s winning streak to 22 matches, dating back to last October — a reminder of his dominance before February when he agreed to the three-month ban in a controversial settlement with the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The ban had raised plenty of questions – and frustration among critics like *********** Nick Kyrgios – as it conveniently allowed him not to miss any grand slams tournaments and return just in time for the French Open.
Sinner will next face 93rd-ranked Dutch qualifier Jesper De Jong, who beat 25th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-0 6-2.

France in talks with Britain, Ukraine about potential troops, Macron tells paper
PARIS (Reuters) – France is consulting with partners on how to potentially support Ukraine in its struggle with Russia with troops, French President Emmanuel Macron told newspaper Le Parisien on Saturday, without elaborating on what such a presence could include.
“We are working on the presence and strategic footprint of the partner countries. There have been several exchanges between our British, French and Ukrainian chiefs of staff, who have coordinated the work with all their partners, and all this is becoming clearer and making progress,” Macron was cited in the article.
“The key is to have troops in Ukraine,” he added.
Major European powers including France threw their weight behind an unconditional 30-day Ukraine ceasefire, with the backing of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Macron joined the leaders of Britain, Germany and Poland on a visit to Kyiv on Saturday during which they held a phone call with Trump.

I’ll Continue Using the Stratagem Everyone Thinks Is Useless Because I Joined Helldivers 2 to Have Fun, Not be an Undemocratic Buzzkill
Arrowhead Game Studios has been working on a lot of new content for Helldivers 2. Everyone has been expecting some deadly weapons and Stratagems, but no one expected Super Earth’s flag.
The upcoming Premium Warbond called Masters of Ceremony features CQC-1 One True Flag Stratagem, which at first glance looks like a Stratagem that will allow players to wave Super Earth’s flag at any location; however, it does appear to have a spear attached to it.
Most players have mixed feelings about this Stratagem, believing it is useless and will only waste a Stratagem slot. However, players on Reddit have pointed out that the entire point of the game is to have fun, and they are excited to plant the flag all over the map.
An upcoming Stratagem has become a topic of discussion among Helldivers 2 players
Arrowhead Game Studios recently announced the Masters of Ceremony Premium Warbond for Helldivers 2, and it features some interesting weapons and Stratagems. The entire point of this Warbond is to celebrate the eradication of the Illuminate faction. Among many new items, the Warbond also features a new Statagem called CQC-1 “One True Flag,” which, by the looks of it, looks like a Stratagem that will allow players to plant a Super Earth flag anywhere on the map.
The community’s initial response to this Stratagem has been mixed so far, as user Wrench_gaming shared a meme on the r/Helldivers2 subreddit highlighting the fact that some players see it as a useless Stratagem.
Personally, I would be entering the battlefield with the Stratagem, as it will provide a different experience compared to the regular medium-ranged combat with weapons. Plus, being able to plant the flag anywhere on the map to spread democracy? Sign me up!
And it’s not just me who feels like this Stratagem has potential, as players like ahses3202 have proved that there is anticipation for the Stratagem as they promised to take this on every mission. Another player, SprattAttak, pointed out that the game has “million guns and explosives already,” so having a unique Stratagem like this is exciting.
As pointed out by theresabulldozer, players must wait and see what the Stratagem is capable of before criticising it on social media.
What can players expect from the Masters of Ceremony Premium Warbond?

At the moment, it’s unclear what exactly players can do with the One True Flag Stratagem, as it appears to have the flag on a spear, which could possibly be a melee weapon. Unfortunately, the rest of the items in the Warbond aren’t too exciting. Yes, they are unique, but it is not my cup of tea, and it’s safe to say that most players feel this way.
The Warbond also features a CQC-2 “Saber” melee weapon, another melee weapon that is indeed unique, but might not be used by many players. Apart from this, the Warbond features:
The R-2 Amendment, the game’s second Bayonet Rifle.
RE-1861 Parade Commander and RE-2310 Honorary Guard Armor sets
A Sample Scanner booster, which, as the name suggests, might allow players to detect samples quickly on the battlefield
The G-142 Pyrotech Grenade is a crazy grenade that will have a fireworks display before it blows up.
New banners, capes, titles, and the lockstep emote.
The new Warbond is indeed unique, but this isn’t what the community has been waiting for. I am extremely excited to try out this new weapon, but I will certainly give other weapons a shot as well when the Masters of Ceremony Warbond rolls out on May 15th, 2025.

DOOM: The Dark Ages – Final Verdict “Toxic” Masculinity At Its Finest | Gaming Instincts
The best way to summarize DOOM: The Dark Ages is that it lets you live out the ultimate fantasy of a testosterone-fueled, steroid-pumped gym bro who goes to space and slaughters demons—and nothing can stop him. There’s truly nothing else like it on the market right now, especially in today’s overly sanitized, ****** **** snowflake-infested gaming landscape. So thank you, Bethesda, for delivering the ultimate male power fantasy we all deserve.

Fallout’s Most Atrocious Launch Became Todd Howard and Bethesda’s Ultimate Lesson in How Not to Release a Game
Fallout’s Most Atrocious Launch Became Todd Howard and Bethesda’s Ultimate Lesson in How Not to Release a Game
When Fallout 76 came out in 2018, it was one of the most disastrous launches we’d ever seen. For what was one of the biggest franchises in gaming, Todd Howard and Bethesda really dropped the ball. But you know what the studio did after that? The devs locked in, dedicated to improvement, and seven years later, Fallout 76 is one of the most played games of the franchise.
Three years after the game’s launch, Bethesda officials reflected on its launch and the steps taken to improve it. In 2025, it’s been seven years, and the game that was once the punchline of a joke has become an example of how a game and the studio that made it can redeem themselves.
Todd Howard and Bethesda brought back Fallout 76 from the brink
Design director Mark Tucker was among those who acknowledged the game’s disastrous launch. Back in 2021, he talked about the entire thing in an interview with TheGamer. “I’m not going to shy away from the fact that our launch was rough,” Tucker admitted. Having spent years making the game, he felt the sting of backlash personally.
There’s a lot of lessons we learned, both good and bad, and looking back there’s definitely some things we would have done a little differently… That said, the beauty of working on a game like this is we can evolve and adapt over time, and that’s something that, as a developer, is really rewarding.
But instead of being defensive over the backlash or crumbling, Tucker and his team used the negative feedback as motivation to make improvements to Fallout 76. And after seven years, the team at Bethesda has succeeded in turning it into something the community could finally embrace.
Over the years, Fallout 76 has received many updates, and the developers at Bethesda have shown just how committed they are to improving it with each one. Today, we can barely recognize the game’s current state compared to how it launched.
Looking at Fallout 76 now compared to what it was three years ago – it’s a pretty different game, and something I’m exceptionally proud to be a part of. It wasn’t meeting fan expectations, but the cool thing is that we now had a chance to make it better.
One major turning point for Fallout 76 was its arrival on Xbox Game Pass in July 2020. In recent years, Xbox Game Pass has become the most value-for-money gaming subscription and has brought millions of players to games on the platform. Considering its current success, we can only imagine what the game would’ve looked like if it had been on Game Pass at launch.
Community support goes a long way in a game’s life

Todd Howard, the director of Bethesda Game Studios, also reflected on the game’s release back in 2021. “There was very little we didn’t ****** up,” he said. The studio had attempted to do something new, taking the single-player experience of Fallout into an MMO-like world, but as we know, it turned out to be nothing they expected.
The game had glitchy servers, buggy systems, and missing features, among other issues. Overall, Fallout 76 fell short of the studio’s usual standards. Bethesda’s reputation took a hit, but the studio’s willingness to own mistakes and dedication to improving the game has paid off.
Today, Fallout 76 is one of the most played games on Xbox and has been one of the biggest comeback stories in gaming history. Its disastrous launch will never be forgotten because it became a rallying point for Bethesda’s growth.

Elon Musk’s robotaxi ambitions hit with major roadblock
Elon Musk’s robotaxi ambitions hit with major roadblock
One of this year’s most highly anticipated events for both car and tech enthusiasts is the looming rollout of the Tesla robotaxi.
For years, the Tesla (TSLA) CEO has touted the self-driving cars he’s promised the company will deliver. This has included pushing back its launch date, which he has claimed is necessary to allow engineers more time to develop the technology.

However, this has also sparked skepticism that his ambitious plans to corner the autonomous driving market will succeed, as rivals continue to introduce self-driving tech into their vehicles, both in the U.S. and China.
The clock is ticking, and some experts have speculated that Tesla is already falling behind in the driverless race.
Now, a new development reveals that Musk is facing even more challenges as Tesla prepares for what it claims will mark its robotaxi launch in 2025.
Tesla’s quest to roll out the new self-driving Robotaxi and Cybercab has hit an unexpected bump.Image source: van der Wal/Getty Images
Given Musk’s reputation for championing futuristic technologies, many people have expected Tesla to lead us to a future with fully self-driving cars. However, the autopilot software behind its self-driving push has reportedly caused plenty of on-road incidents, enough to spark federal investigations.
Related: Tesla decision reveals a major demand problem
In December 2024, Musk announced that Tesla would start rolling out its long-awaited robotaxis in June 2025, exciting fans of the company. However, experts have claimed that these electric vehicles (EVs) won’t be fully self-driving, as they will be assisted by a remote human operator.
Now Musk is facing a new obstacle, this time from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Tesla’s attempts to copyright the name Robotaxi have run up against roadblocks, as the government agency argues that the name is too generic to trademark.
That’s not the company’s only patent problem, though. According to a regulatory filing dated April 23, the company’s application to trademark the name Cybercab has been suspended, as other firms have recently attempted to do the same with similar terms, including a Cybertruck accessory dealer called CyberLandr.
On May 6, the USPTO issued a “nonfinal office action” to Tesla regarding its Robotaxi trademark application.
This refers to the process in which a trademark examiner informs the filer of problems that it must address for the application to proceed. If Tesla does not file a response within a three-month *******, the application will be discarded.

Story Continues
This doesn’t mean Tesla can’t trademark the term Robotaxi, but it does mean it will take longer to do so.
“Tesla will be allowed to submit evidence and arguments to support its argument in favor of the trademark,” TechCrunch reports. “If it does, the USPTO wants Tesla to provide “[f]act sheets, instruction manuals, brochures, advertisements and pertinent screenshots of applicant’s website as it relates to the goods and/or services in the application, including any materials using the terms in the applied-for mark.”
So far, neither Tesla nor Musk has issued any official statements on the trademark application problems. But this seems to be coming at a highly inconvenient time, as Tesla may be aiming to start rolling out its robotaxi in the near future.
Related: Elon Musk gets more bad news from a new rival
Tesla hasn’t officially confirmed when it plans to begin the rollout in Austin, Texas. On May 1, though, the company’s AI account shared a cryptic post that simply posed the question “How long until June?” This seems to point toward June as the month for the robotaxi’s official public road debut.
Even if Tesla can successfully convince the USPTO that it deserves to trademark the term Robotaxi, it likely won’t be able to do so before the June rollout.
But that’s not the only obstacle the company is facing in the self-driving car market. Tesla rival Waymo has successfully put self-driving vehicles on the road and partnered with Uber, establishing itself as an early leader in the space.
As TheStreet’s Tony Owusu reports, “Waymo’s current fleet features over 1,500 vehicles spread across its four current host cities, but by next year, it expects to more than double its fleet with more than 2,000 new additions.”
Tesla may have a difficult time trademarking the names Robotaxi and Cybercab, but it will likely have an even harder time catching up to Waymo.
