If you're a fan of Conan O'Brien's eclectic career and also a fan of video games, there's no doubt you remember his hilarious and completely original Clueless Gamer segment on his TBS show. Clueless Gamer had a simple premise, which was to let Conan play popular new video games such as The Witcher 3 or GTA 5 and "review" them in his own eccentric and comedic fashion. The catch is that, despite having a great appreciation for video games, Conan is terrible at them and has no clue what he is doing, hence the title of the segment. View the full article

Mindseye, the game from ex-Rockstar president Leslie Benzies-helmed studio Build a Rocket Boy, has arrived. Its launch has gone, er, a bit glitchily, currently landing the game at a mixed reception on Steam. That said, the studio have at least confirmed an update designed to improve Mindseye's performance is on the way. If you're out of the loop, the sort of GTA-ish/Cyberpunk-ish game's road to release had been plenty weird prior to it breaking cover. Build a Rocket Boy co-CEO Mark Gerhard had seemingly suggested on the game's Discord server that he believed people were being paid to say negative things about Mindseye, and two other high-profile execs had departed the studio not long before release. The superheroes are eager to figure out what Daigo's up to and put a stop to his corruption spreading across the island in Fortnite. To help them learn more, you need to gather surveillance gear at Supernova Academy. Finding these items is decently tough since they're sitting on the ground at various specific locations around this vast POI. All of them are quite small and difficult to spot, so here's how to gather surveillance gear at Supernova Academy in Fortnite. Gather surveillance gear at Supernova Academy in Fortnite Screenshot by Destructoid To complete the gather surveillance gear at Supernova Academy, you need to obtain three pieces of surveillance gear from around this location. You're looking for three small items marked with white sparkles and a diamond icon with an exclamation point in it. These markers aren't displayed until you're decently close to them, so trying to determine where to start can be a bit tough. The easiest way to find the underground lair area is to start by visiting the Superman NPC at Supernova Academy. This POI is located near the very north end of the island, so start by traveling to it. Once you find the right location, look for Superman inside a building near the southeast end of the area. Close to where he hangs out, you'll find some stairs you can use to travel down to the secret bunker below. You can also just break the ground near him to fall down into the right area. All Supernova Academy surveillance gear locations Screenshot by Destructoid. Remix by Destructoid There are three pieces of surveillance gear you need to find for the Trials of Morgan Myst quests, all of which can be found at Supernova Academy. They're all hidden in the secret underground superhero lair near the southeast end of this POI. The surveillance gear stand is located near a conveyor belt underground by the Academy Tech Labs locked doors. It's right in the center of the room on the ground next to a bright orange chair. The surveillance gear screen is tucked away in a corner of the underground secret superhero lair, decently close to the surveillance gear stand. It's a flat ****** and blue item that's sitting on the ground by a white desk with a computer. It's also underneath a bright yellow sign that says, "Danger, high voltage." The surveillance gear recorder is by some desks and near the sign that's right outside the entrance to the underground lair. It's also by the stairs you can use to access this area, and a C Superhero Rank door. Screenshot by Destructoid Once you have all three items, you need to take them to ******'s Domain so you can set the surveillance gear up. This is the next step for Morgan Myst's quests, and it's a whole separate, tricky process to work through. There's plenty of other work to get done around the island after finishing this quest. Next, consider working on copying the actions of Morgan Myst’s shadow proxies, unlocking all Boons, finding ****** guards, and damaging Overlord Spires and Scout Spires. In Cities Skylines 2, the smallest things can make the biggest difference. When the city-building sequel was first revealed, the introduction of both roundabouts and a new road-building tool that let you create instant, symmetrical grids felt like the arrival of the Renaissance - finally, even in the grandest metropolis, traffic could flow freely. But the inverse is also true; even though they may seem minor, the absence of bicycles and bicycle lanes has become a persistent CS2 sore. Bridges and Ports may be delayed. Rivals like Transport Fever 3 and Worldwide Rush could be coming to steal its thunder. But Colossal Order isn't giving up on Cities Skylines 2, as a new update adds some essential building options that should improve your traffic and train networks. Read the rest of the story... Lars Wingefors, founder of Swedish gaming company Embracer, is stepping down from his CEO role. Current deputy CEO Phil Rogers will assume the position from August 2025. Embracer, which oversees IPs like The Lord of the Ring, Dead Island, Metro, and Tomb Raider, is no stranger to change, of course. After making high-profile acquisitions like the purchase of Middle-earth Enterprises and Borderlands-maker Gearbox in 2022 and 2021, respectively, Embracer found itself in turmoil after a $2 billion deal with Savvy Games Group fell through. In the time since, the company has shut down Saints Row developer Volition Games, sold Gearbox, split from Space Marine 2 developer Saber Interactive, and overseen thousands of layoffs. Wingefors called the criticism and backlash to its missteps "painful." In April 2024, Embracer announced plans to split itself into three separate companies: Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain & Friends, and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends to “unleash the full potential of each team and provide them with their own leadership and strategic direction.” The restructuring and closures saw 1,387 workers lose their jobs and 29 unannounced projects canceled. It recently announced plans to spin off Coffee Stain Group and renamed its The Lord of the Rings business Fellowship Entertainment. Wingefors isn't leaving Embracer entirely, however, and has been appointed executive chair of the board, with current chair Kicki Wallje-Lund moving to deputy chair. Wingefors will also be appointed director of the aforementioned Coffee Stain Group. "With the start of this new phase, I am thankful for the years and lessons learned as CEO of Embracer," Wingefors said in a statement (thanks, [Hidden Content]). "While the road has not always been straight, I am incredibly proud of the achievements made possible by our talented teams, which have created some incredible experiences for gamers. "This new phase allows me to focus on strategic initiatives, [mergers and acquisitions], and capital allocation, ensuring Embracer's continued growth and success. I am more convinced than ever that the best is still ahead of us. Having worked very closely with Phil over the past years, I have high confidence in his abilities. I look forward to a continued close collaboration to further strengthen the business and drive value in the coming years." Looking to the future, Embracer owns or controls over 450 franchises, with a long list of subsidiaries that includes THQ Nordic, Plaion, Coffee Stain, Amplifier Game Invest, DECA Games, Dark Horse, Freemode, and Crystal Dynamics – Eidos. It has 73 internal game development studios and over 7,000 staff. Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has confirmed his upcoming game, Haunted Chocolatier, is "larger" than the already sizeable Stardew Valley. How much *******, or in which way it's *******? Sorry — Barone didn't elaborate. "The world of Haunted Chocolatier is larger than Stardew Valley" is the full extent of his message. If he's referring to the length of the game, however, How Long to Beat? has the average Stardew Valley playtime listed as over 50 hours for just the main story, and around 168 hours for a completionist run. Perhaps unsurprisingly, then, these 10 words sent a ripple of excitement through his fan communities, with one exclaiming: "[Concerned Ape] STOP TEASING. I MEAN- DONT STOP TEASING. I MEAN- IDK IM SO EXCITED BUT I DONT WANT U TO RUSH TAKE UR SWEET **** TIME WE LOVE U." Last month, Barone admitted that he "didn't want to just be the Stardew Valley guy," explaining that was why he's currently working on Haunted Chocolatier. We shouldn't expect a release date anytime soon, though — there's "still a lot to be done," Barone recently admitted, particularly as he feels it's "got to be better" than Stardew Valley. However, he also suggested that he may "eventually make a Stardew Valley 2." Before you get too excited, however, the developer also said it's "so much easier to just add more stuff to Stardew Valley than to make a whole new game from scratch." "It's all the systems — all the major systems — are already all done. That’s the stuff that’s not fun to do. When I make an update [for Stardew Valley now], it’s like, you know, oh, throw in this, throw in that. Let’s add green rain — like, these random, whimsical ideas." Barone announced Haunted Chocolatier back in 2021. Much like Stardew Valley, it will be a top-down pixel-based sim, and it looks to have much the same flavor as ConcernedApe's previous work. More chatter has emerged about a new high-end AMD gaming GPU possibly waiting in the wings, with the latest rumors saying that the AMD Radeon RX 9090 XT is "40% faster" than AMD's current top-end graphics card, the Radeon RX 9070 XT. The new GPU is likened to the AMD Radeon VII, a high-end graphics card that AMD launched in 2019 to squeeze high-end performance out of its Vega architecture, with 16GB of high-speed HBM2 memory. Although the latest AMD GPUs aren't seeing any love in the May Steam Survey, we've been really impressed by their performance for the money. We even gave the top-end chip a score of 9/10 in our AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT review, earning it a place on our best GPU guide, although real-world pricing makes it a harder sell now. Ian Proulx, the CEO of Splitgate 2 developers 1047 Games, has apologised for wearing a 'Make FPS Great Again' cap while talking about the game's battle royale mode on stage at Summer Game Fest. As you might have guessed, the hat drew unfavourable comparisons to US president Donald Trump's MAGA hats. It'd have been a pretty dumb, controversy-baiting stunt for a games company CEO to pull at any point in recent history, but especially hasn't gone over well given the timing. As the SGF show happened, a large number of anti-ICE protests also began in response to violent immigration raids, and later that weekend Trump deployed the National Guard onto the streets."
