GAMURS Group is expanding into the world of tabletop gaming with its brand-new site, Roll Initiative. Launched on June 16, Roll Initiative is a website focused on tabletop games like the beloved Dungeons and Dragons, and many more besides. With the new site, founding editor Aidan O’Brien “hopes to build something that becomes another thread in the rich tapestry that is the online gaming space,” as stated in Roll Initiative’s official announcement. Roll Initiative is a project built from pure passion for the hobby. “I fell in love with board games and wargaming when I first cracked open Hero Quest in 1989,” O’Brien explains. “Ever since, I have spent countless hours forming incredible memories with my fellow gamers.” O’Brien also explained why he and GAMURS are making this big move now. “I truly believe that right now is one of the best times in the history of this industry. Passionate creatives are working on every kind of game you could imagine, and emergent technologies like 3D Printing allow people all over the world to ignore the limitations of logistics and geography and get their creations to people who can make them in their own homes. I want Roll Initiative to be a place that celebrates that creative ingenuity and helps to shine a light on the incredible talent at work all over the world.” So, what should you expect to see from Roll Initiative? O’Brien promises to do three things: “I will experiment with coverage, I will seek out news, and I will aim to talk to people in the industry about what they make and why.” To top it all off, he hopes to “show you a game you might not otherwise have heard of or introduce you to a book you might otherwise have missed.” With the site now fully launched, you can check out Roll Initiative and all of its upcoming content in the tabletop gaming sphere. If you’re a fan of tabletop, this is the perfect place for you. The post Introducing Roll Initiative, a celebration of all things tabletop gaming appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article
REMATCH has many ways to score a goal, but bicycle kicks are amazing. Using them effectively will showcase your in-game skills and prowess to teammates and opponents alike. Bicycle kicks are one of the many advanced features you'll master over time. However, knowing the controls well will help you better understand the basics. Once done, you'll slowly learn to master them and perform the overhead kicks effortlessly. Notably, these kicks are not easy to perform, and their chance of success in a PvP match will be low. REMATCH Bicycle Kick controls explained The Bicycle kick is a two-task job. First, you'll have to anticipate the ball's trajectory and call for the ball. Next, you must hit the shot right to land your kick. To call for the ball, you'll need to press the R3/RS/Q key on your respective PlayStation/Xbox controller/Keyboard. Pressing this button will make the ball travel quickly towards you. Screenshot via Sloclap You can only successfully hit a Bicycle kick if the ball hasn't reached your foot. Your best help is the green marker, which shows the anticipated path of the ball. There will be a small window before you receive the ball when you get the prompt to perform the kick. Press the R2/RT/Left Mouse Button on your PlayStation/Xbox controller/PC to perform the shot. You'll have to time it perfectly, or else the Bicycle kick attempt won't land. That's all you have to do to perform the Bicycle kick. As stylish as it is, I don't like this option at this stage of the game. Many things can go wrong while trying to anticipate a pass, and performing it in PvP isn't the easiest of tasks. If you still want to improve, I suggest trying it out on the REMATCH practice arena first. Try to master the timing of the shot, as the window of success is very small. Once you have mastered that aspect, focus on anticipating the ball's trajectory precisely. The post How to do a bicycle kick in REMATCH appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article

Gold Bottle Caps are a new one-time use item in Pokémon Go that can increase the stats of a chosen Pokémon. They are a limited item and hardly available in vast quantities, so choosing the Pokémon you want to upgrade the stats of is vital to making the most of the item. But how do they work? And how do you get more? Table of contentsWhat are Gold Bottle Caps in Pokémon Go?How do you get Gold Bottle Caps in Pokémon Go?What are Gold Bottle Caps in Pokémon Go?[Hidden Content] Gold Bottle Caps are new items related to Hyper Trainer, which, when used, allow you to boost the stats of your Pokémon. You can only use a Gold Bottle Cap once on a singular Pokémon, and the Pokémon needs to be a Good Buddy or higher to be used. You can select the Gold Bottle Cap from your inventory, and upon selecting which stats you would like to train, it is used. Once given, it's time to start Hyper Training! You will need to complete various tasks themed to the stat you choose to increase the Pokémon's stats to max. These include: Attack: Battle alongside your Pokémon while they are your buddy.Defense: Play together with your Pokémon, explore, and catch Pokémon while they are your buddy.HP: Explore alongside your ******** with your buddy, spin PokéStops, earn Candy, etc Once you use a Gold Bottle Cap, you have 365 days to complete your Hyper Training tasks to max out that stat. How do you get Gold Bottle Caps in Pokémon Go? Gold Bottle Caps are extremely rare, and currently the only way to get one is to earn it in the new GO Pass Deluxe: Ancients Recovered event from June 23 to 29. You need to have the paid pass to get the Gold Bottle Cap. Gold Bottle Caps will also expire after a set *******, with the first one expiring on July 6. So you can't hold onto them and use them at a later date. You can only increase one statistic as well, which feels pretty harsh considering trainers might need to unlock multiple stats to get a hundo. Scopely has currently not confirmed when the next Gold Bottle Cap will be available, or if they will be purchaseable in the future. So all we can do is wait for them to announce further releases in later events. The post How to get Gold Bottle Caps and use Hyper Training in Pokémon Go appeared first on Destructoid. I'm a huge roguelite nerd (or roguelike, if you're weird), and Slay the Spire is easily one of my favorite games of all time. The deck-building phenomenon is as addictive as it is thought provoking, as you face bizarre creatures and slowly grow in strength, rising up through each level of the spire. If you're looking for an intriguing twist on the videogame, the Slay the Spire board game is an excellent adaptation, and it's also got a good discount right now. Read the rest of the story... The new farming simulator, Grow a Garden, has reached 16,000,000 concurrent players on Roblox, and has shattered several records, including becoming the first Roblox game to surpass 5,000,000 players. Grow a Garden follows the core gameplay loop found in most idle farming simulators: Plant, harvest, sell, automate, and expand. However, it introduces a creative twist. Plants continue to grow while the player is offline. While the concept may seem simplistic to some modern players, it has successfully attracted millions. View the full article

You've got Civilization 7, Stellaris, Age of Empires 2, and Manor Lords - in one sense, the 4X and strategy game world is livelier than ever. But some of those names may also feel a little familiar by now. If you've put hours into Firaxis' tentpole series and exhausted some of Paradox's other mainstays, Age of Wonders 4 is the ideal, less-exposed alternative. The ratings are big (we gave it 9/10) and the gameplay is a mix of traditional expansion, extermination, exploration, and exploitation with smaller-scale tactical combat. If you've never given AoW 4 a shot, now is definitely the time. Razer has unveiled its first barebones gaming keyboard, giving enthusiasts complete control over keycap and switch selection. Better yet, you can grab yourself the Blackwidow V4 75% for just $139.99 if you're willing to do the assembly yourself, saving you $60 on the original list price. The Razer Blackwidow V4 75% remains on our best gaming keyboard list thanks to its brilliant performance, easy key-switch design, and sound dampening. The only sore point for us was the keyboard's original price, particularly because you were almost encouraged to swap out the switches for some of your own, and the keyboard's customizability was such a highlight. Fortunately, Razer is now offering enthusiasts the option of stripping out the keycaps altogether for a barebones model. Read the rest of the story... You can pursue nearly any job in BitLife if you possess the necessary qualifications and drive. Firefighting is one of many options you have, and although there are no cool minigames for dousing fires, it's still satisfying to know you're helping others in between age-ups. Table of contentsHow to become a Firefighter in BitLifeWhat does a Firefighter do in BitLife? How to become a Firefighter in BitLife Becoming a Firefighter in BitLife requires graduating from secondary school and aging up until your character turns 18. From here, you'll unlock full-time jobs, where there's a chance you'll find a Probationary Firefighter position available. The downside? The job list is mostly random. Although getting a degree or working other jobs filters the results slightly, someone fresh out of high school will have a completely random list. A firefighter position may not be available initially, requiring you to close and reopen the BitLife app or age up and recheck the list. Screenshot by Destructoid Several factors can also impact your chances of becoming a firefighter. If your character has a criminal record, they won't be able to apply for the job unless they emigrate to another country. If your only goal is to become a firefighter, don't commit any crimes within BitLife until after you secure the job. Your character can also fail the follow-up interview they receive after applying. Although this is mostly luck-based, your safest bet is to go for professional answers and hope the interviewer is satisfied with your response. Otherwise, you'll have to search for another position and repeat the process until your character officially becomes a firefighter. What does a Firefighter do in BitLife? Like most jobs in BitLife, the firefighter position lacks unique features or minigames. It's mainly a means to generate an annual salary for your character, letting you purchase houses, cars, and various services to make your character's life more interesting. That is unless you're trying to complete BitLife's weekly challenges. Each week, new challenges appear with various objectives, with ones like the Anti-Hero, Master of the Elements, and Macho Man asking you to create characters who become firefighters. When they first release, they're only available for five days before being locked behind a Challenge Vault that requires a one-time purchase to unlock. Alternatively, you can become a firefighter to earn a lot of money. Although probationary firefighters don't tend to make much at first, you can receive promotions to Lieutenant, Battalion Chief, or Fire Chief to turn this into a high-paying career. While it isn't the highest-paying job BitLife offers, your character can still be very comfortable after a few years of hard work. REMATCH has a seamless matchmaking experience between casual and ranked play, but you can also juke it out with your buddies. As long as your friends are on the same platform (let's say both of you play on PC), it's pretty easy to play together. You and your buddy must be in the same lobby before starting a match. You can make a full team of five with your friends or add strangers to your team. Let's look at how you can invite your friends and play together. Table of contentsHow to add friends in REMATCHHow to invite friends to the same lobby in REMATCHHow to add friends in REMATCH The first task is to add your friend to the game before you can play together. You'll notice that there's a Social tab at the top right of your screen (as shown in the screenshot below). This tab will show all your friends who can join your session and play together. You can add your friends to the game who are already friends on the platform you're on. Simply put, add them as friends on your console (using either the PS app or the Xbox app), and they will appear on the Social tab. Similarly, PC users must add one another to their Steam accounts before playing together. Screenshot by Destructoid You might have guessed it, but this function is only available for players on the same platform. Whether the limitation gets upgraded in the future is a matter of speculation at this point. Hopefully, Sloclap will introduce a way to add friends manually. You can also add random players as your friends. From the Social tab, select the recent section. It will show a list of players you have played with and against. You can send a friend request to any or all of them directly inside the game. Once they have accepted, they will show up on the Social tab. How to invite friends to the same lobby in REMATCH Once added, you can invite each other as long as both are online. All your online friends will show up separately in the Social tab (just like in the screenshot). Next, start a match and select the mode you want to play. Do note that if you're jumping in to play Ranked, you must have access to the mode. The post How to play with friends in REMATCH appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article
