Day Z is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best zombie games you can play right now. Very few of its rivals can evoke that sense of desperate survival in quite the same way. But Vein is giving it a shot. It's been tinkered on for years by just two dedicated devs who were initially inspired by Project Zomboid, and now it's launched in Steam Early Access. With a huge evolving world, base building that can utilize the infrastructure around you, and a focus on realistic, long-term survival, it looks like a remarkably deep experience. You can also run over zombies in a go kart, which definitely earns it a bonus point from me. Read the rest of the story... There are some games that bring back really fond memories. Zipping through the streets of Los Angeles in L.A. Noire, bringing down the hammer of justice while simultaneously breaking every traffic law; finally beating the Archdemon in Dragon Age: Origins, immediately vindicating my choice to side with the werewolves instead of the Dalish - sometimes, a story etches itself into your soul. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt is one of those games. I played it on repeat when it released, soaring through the blood-red skies of Prague, gazing out over the city from the rafters of the Burning Church or vibing to the beats thumping out of the Divine Disco. The Outer Worlds sees Obsidian returning to first-person RPGs for the first time since Fallout: New Vegas. After that spinoff, the studio focused on top-down CRPGs like the excellent Pillars of Eternity series. While not a Fallout game, and in no way connected with Bethesda, The Outer Worlds will look familiar to fans of the series, thanks to its retro-futurist aesthetic and open-world. Fans have been vying for a game of this ilk for a while as Fallout 4 struggled to match the wilder character and bright colours of Obsidian's New Vegas strip. But it also speaks to fans of the older isometric Fallouts as Obsidian's RPG is helmed by the series' creators, Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky. After the trailer debut for The Outer Worlds at The Game Awards 2018, the internet has been ablaze with hype, but you may be wondering what we actually know about the game as of right now. Is the hype justified? What kind of gameplay we can expect and when we'll be able to get our hands on it are questions worth asking. Despite sparse details being released, we can infer a lot from the drip-feed of gameplay, previews, and trailers we've been offered since the reveal. Final Fantasy 7 Remake series director, Naoki Hamaguchi, has elaborated on comments he recently made about the upcoming Part 3, in which he said it would be “more concise” than Rebirth. Speaking to Screen Rant earlier this month, the director was asked about how some fans criticised the second game in the Remake trilogy for having some story sections stretched out. Hamaguchi responded by saying that Part 3 would feel “more concise” than Rebirth, which many fans interpreted as an intention to cut content from the final entry in the Remake series. However, speaking to VGC in a new interview, the director clarified that this wouldn’t be the case. Read More... View the full article
Microsoft has finally unveiled Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the campaign portion of Bungie’s beloved Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo fans have spent most of the weekend debating the changes Halo Studios has made for this upcoming 2026 shooter, from the addition of sprint to the more pristine art style. But what do the developers of Halo: Combat Evolved itself make of the remake? Jaime Griesemer is one of the key developers behind Halo. He was most involved with designing Halo’s famous ‘30 seconds of fun’ gameplay loop and designed much of the campaign itself. Now creative director at Highwire Games (Six Days in Fallujah), Griesemer took to X / Twitter to deliver an early verdict on gameplay footage coming out of Microsoft’s Halo: Campaign Evolved reveal. He did not sound impressed. "You aren’t supposed to be able to take the Warthog up to steamroll the Hunters," Griesemer said. "I intentionally placed rocks in the way so you had to fight them on foot. When you can just smash the crates out of the way it wrecks the encounters. "But the worst part? They put trees in the landing area of the WooHoo Jump. Lame.” Let’s unpack this a bit. Griesemer is criticizing a key part of the iconic campaign mission, The Silent Cartographer: the first encounter with two Hunters. In the original Halo, this fight is meant to be played with Master Chief on-foot (players soon discovered it was possible to brute force a Warthog into the arena). But in Microsoft’s remake, players can freely take their Warthog up to the Hunters and ride roughshod over their hapless victims. I imagine the Hunters, with their dying breaths, gurgling: “no fair!” (Oh, and that WooHoo Jump? Griesemer explained: “There’s a ramp that is supposed to have a bunch of jackals at the landing spot. Your gunner would always say ‘Woohoo!’ When you got airborne.”) It’s fair to say Griesemer’s tweet, viewed 2.3 million times, has sparked a reaction online, with some fans insisting the level layout change ruins the gameplay flow, others saying this change and others like it will make the game more fun. As for Griesemer, in a subsequent tweet, he explained that if Microsoft is going to change Halo’s crates to be dynamic, then they should have also redesigned the encounters that use them as permanent cover." He continued: “Most people forced the Warthog through BECAUSE of the Hunters. The introduction of the Hunters was supposed to be intimidating and difficult, but in the light so you can understand them. Then you meet them in an enclosed dark area and they are even harder. But then you get Rockets and Vehicles and turn the tables. It’s a three act play of enemy design and you want to throw it in a blender. Fine, it’ll go down easier but it’s not going to taste as good.” And: “It’s like the dance remix of a classic song that skips the intro and the bridge and just thumps the chorus over and over.” Griesemer later offered a potential explanation for this change: “On further analysis I’m sure it’s because the vehicles take damage and so you’re just as likely to destroy the hog as get it over the rocks. If anything that makes it -worse- because -none- of the vehicle tricks are going to work anymore.” “Make it an option” is the biggest red flag for a dysfunctional design. We have no vision for what this is supposed to be, here’s the tools to fix it yourself. — Jaime Griesemer (@32nds) October 25, 2025 Another aspect of Halo: Campaign Evolved that Griesemer has taken issue with is the addition of an optional infinite sprint button. Sprint seems to be the biggest talking point about Halo: Campaign Evolved; while you can choose not to sprint, some are saying using it destroys Halo: Combat Evolved’s classic, considered gameplay pace and thus its sense of wonder. Others say believe it’s essential for the fun factor. Griesemer doesn’t sound like a fan of sprinting in the Halo remake, either. In another tweet, he pointed out that the player was able to sprint into The Silent Cartographer’s shaft vignette so fast that it broke the music transition. “Who is this for?” he asked. Then: “If the world isn’t scaled to sprint, you will be able to trivially skip encounters.” Halo: Campaign Evolved’s Needler, too, has caused quite the kerfuffle. This iconic Halo weapon shoots deadly needles into an enemy, then, after a cool-sounding charge, they explode. The Needler stands out because the ammo — the needles themselves — stick out the top of the gun, so you can easily see how much ammo you have at any given moment. Still, Microsoft saw fit to add an ammo counter on the Needler, just in case. This change has drawn some ridicule online, and Griesemer is clearly not a fan. “By far the most comically unnecessary embellishment in the whole announcement,” he said. "I’m not sure it isn’t intentional satire.” Then: “But why would you add an ammo counter to a weapon that IS an ammo counter in the first place?” By far the most comically unnecessary embellishment in the whole announcement. I’m not sure it isn’t intentional satire. — Jaime Griesemer (@32nds) October 25, 2025 In response to Griesemer's original, now viral tweet on Halo: Campaign Evolved, one user accused the veteran designer of “crying” about nostalgia, to which he responded: “Because I made it right and they are breaking it for no reason.” He continued: “... I think there are dozens of changes (reload speeds, no health packs, falling damage, etc) that make the game 'slicker' but ultimately less interesting.” After Bungie left Halo behind to develop Destiny, Microsoft, via what was known as 343 Industries, continued the franchise with Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians, and 2021’s Halo: Infinite. The internet would suggest that with these games, Microsoft has struggled to recreate the Bungie “magic,” for want of a better term. Certainly Bungie’s Halo games are more fondly remembered than Microsoft’s. But why has Microsoft struggled so? Griesemer was asked this question, and in his response revealed his thoughts on the idea of remaking Halo and continuing to make new Halo games now, nearly 25 years after Combat Evolved came out. “It’s not the early 2000s anymore,” he said. “Halo is of its time, maybe more than any other game franchise. So they are constantly trying to either take Halo out of 2001 and modernize it (which breaks it) or take players back to 2001 with nostalgia (which is impossible).” “Keep getting them checks.” Remakes and remasters are soul-destroying and I feel for any dev working on one. They can’t win and even if they do they won’t get credit. Bad situation unless you are getting paid $$$. — Jaime Griesemer (@32nds) October 25, 2025 Probably not. But I’m not sure what the point is of a “remake” anyway. Nostalgia? A new generation of fans? Occupying an enormous art team while you figure out what to do? — Jaime Griesemer (@32nds) October 25, 2025 They kept the music and the AI the same, it looks like. I’m glad I can play it on a Sony system. — Jaime Griesemer (@32nds) October 26, 2025 One member of the original Halo team who sounds thrilled with Halo: Campaign Evolved is Marcus Lehto, who was the art director on Combat Evolved and thus heavily involved in the iconic look of Halo itself. Lehto, who recently left the now shuttered Battlefield 6 developer Ridgeline Games (and hit out at EA for not properly credited former staff), offered a positive assessment of Halo Studios’ work. “My honest impression of seeing the new Halo Campaign Evolved is this," he said on X / Twitter. “I absolutely love where this is going. The game looks and feels genuine. It's gorgeous in a way I wish we could have built it originally back in 2001. It warms my heart to see Halo CE like this.” Halo: Campaign Evolved isn’t out until 2026 (and probably near to the game’s 25th anniversary in November), so Halo Studios has time to react to some of the feedback it’s seen and make changes — if that’s what it wants to do, of course. It may stick to its guns on the likes of sprint, those rocks, and the Needler's ammo counter. Meanwhile, the Halo community continues to debate the changes, fussing over every detail and what it means for the tone, feel, and gameplay of Bungie’s seminal shooter. I suspect this will be a running theme well into 2026. We’ve got plenty more on Halo: Campaign Evolved, including why it’s the final nail in the coffin for the Xbox exclusive. The Power Pole is a pretty handy item in RV There Yet in terms of what it does, and it could be beneficial for completing the journey with your buddies. Your RV can break down due to the rough terrain, and then comes the time for repairs. However, you'll first need to lift the RV up in order to sort out whatever needs to be fixed. That's where the Power Pole comes in, and this guide will teach you about all its functions. Table of contentsHow to use the Power Pole in RV There YetHow to find the Power Pole in RV There YetHow to use the Power Pole in RV There Yet The Power Pole is RV There Yet's version of the car jack that we use in real life. It might have a different name, but the item is required to lift your RV. I have used it solely to replace a flat tire. When your tire is busted, you'll first have to lift up the vehicle in order to unscrew and replace it with a new one. The Power Pole allows you to do that with ease in the RV There Yet. Just place it at the correct side (where the tire is busted) and it will push your RV in the air. You can then replace the tire and continue your journey. Thankfully, this extremely important item is available on all your runs from the start. Jumping a bridge in an RV There Yet wouldn't have been an issue if it were just you and your buddies attempting the maneuver. However, making your RV cross the bridge by jumping onto it is a challenging task. Your RV is a super-heavy vehicle, but you'll need to make it jump across the bridge in order to reach the final checkpoints. While it might first seem impossible, this guide will help you to make your RV jump across any bridge that you come across in RV There Yet. Table of contentsHow to jump bridges in RV There YetWhy is third gear mandatory for Bridge Jump in RV There YetHow to jump bridges in RV There Yet The two major requirements for your RV to successfully jump bridges are speed and angle. Go too fast or too slow, and you won't be able to make the jump. Choose the wrong angles on the ramp, and you won't be able to make the jump. First, the ramp is essential to make a successful jump. When approaching the ramp, keep your vehicle skewed towards the right. This is essential because your RV will always swerve to the left after landing the jump. If you're keeping your RV straight, it could become very hard to control after making the jump. Keep the steering to the right before you land the RV. Image via Nuggets Entertainment You'll also have to keep your RV in the third gear, and here's the reason. Why is third gear mandatory for Bridge Jump in RV There Yet To make a successful jump, you'll need the perfect combination of speed, acceleration, and torque. You can achieve that by putting your RV in the third gear. If you put it lower, your vehicle won't have any speed to generate the necessary amount of force. If you go for the fourth or fifth gear, you'll be going faster than required. While you'll generate more speed, you'll have less torque and force behind you required for a successful jump. While an accidental fall will damage your RV, you can repair the engine with motor oil to get it going once again. Like our content? The first major update for Battlefield 6 is almost here, aiming to reshape how the game is played, how missions are completed, and what part bots have to play in all of that. It's also coming alongside the game's first season, which itself brings a lot of content. So, here are all the biggest changes in Update 1.1.1.0 in BF6. Screenshot via EA With the launch of Update 1.1.1.0, the first Season of Battlefield 6 is going live. It'll start a few hours after the patch goes through, allowing everyone to get geared up and ready for a new map, vehicles, and other content. We'll initially get the Blackwell Fields, which now has a new and flashy trailer, an extra ground vehicle (a jeep), and several new weapons, including a rifle, a sniper rifle, and a handgun. The season's start will also mark the arrival of the first skins to the game, which are a bit colorful but retain the grittiness and realism that Battlefield 6 has been aiming for. Additional seasonal content will come in the coming months, so stay tuned for that. Movement, combat, and hit reg are getting smoothed over Many guns are being tweaked to align them with intended behavior, while shooting should feel more responsive. Screenshot via EA Though gunplay and movement feel generally great in BF6, there have been some glaring issues that have caused a lot of concern among the community. These chiefly relate to gun handling, aim dispersion, and hit registry, which haven't been consistent enough since launch. EA has looked into these problems and is introducing tweaks to several systems, including "improved movement and animations" that'll reduce the bouncing and floating issues, and "reworked weapon dispersion" that aligns gun behavior to what its description and design state, especially in cases of shooting after sprinting. Hits should also register more consistently after the update goes live, which'll ensure your bullets don't just disappear into an enemy instead of hitting them. Various visibility and gameplay improvements to the HUD, UI, and the maps themselves Tanks and vehicles refused to spawn on some maps, which should no longer be an issue as of Oct. 28. Screenshot via EA EA has also taken visibility into consideration for this update, tweaking both the interface and the maps themselves to allow players to better see and assess their situation at all times. Smokes and lighting should also behave more consistently now but will be less persistent, clouding areas for much shorter and thus impacting any given area to a lesser degree. Some maps that were bogged down by vehicles refusing to spawn, like Mirak Valley's Breakthrough version, will now function as intended and enable both sides to fight it out fair and square, instead of one team being limited by, essentially, a game-breaking bug. The death of bot XP farms and progression overhaul See this map? You no longer have to grind bots on it 24/7. Image via EA After being exploited for weeks, bots will no longer progress any assignments or missions that players must do to unlock new weapons, skins, and other content. Those servers who still run bots will award less XP overall, with most XP bonuses not applying to them. Progression itself will be significantly overhauled, with some missions and assignments requiring up to 90 percent less effort than their launch counterparts, which should discourage players from looking for nefarious means to complete them. BF6's assignments were a major downside of the game, which Update 1.1.1.0 aims to address. These are just some of the countless changes and tweaks coming with this patch, so you can check out the full notes on this link. Like our content? Halloween is almost here, and so are countless co-op horror games that have collectively earned a specific moniker revolving around the word "friend." And be the sentiment around them as it may, I still find them incredibly fun to play, especially when it comes to gathering the squad for some late-night gaming. Of course, you could just all fire up CS2, but instead of losing your mind playing to get an imaginary number 400 points higher, you have the option to get scared s**tless, and I think that's quite better. So, I've gathered four recent co-op horror games and one classic that can and will make your 2025 Halloween night much more exciting. Misery Misery sure does love company. Image via Platypus Entertainment Having released just a few days prior to this article, Misery places you in the midst of a mysterious Zone, itself located in a fictional Eastern European Republic of Zaslavie. It's very much Soviet Ukraine and Russia, with its fictional town almost an exact counterpart to our own Chornobyl. Inspired by hits like STALKER, it allows you and your friends to explore the Zone, gather loot, craft materials, and survive the irradiated, anomalous wasteland. Your characters can go insane, be poisoned by abject radiation, warped by mysterious nuclear apparitions, or beaten to a pulp by a bunch of gopniks in Adidas tracksuits cursing at you in Russian. It's a unique and very different style of co-op horror, one that does not shy away from its inspirations. Vein Wrecked zombies? How fun! Image via Ramjet Studios Described by some as a "first-person Project Zomboid," Vein is a post-apocalyptic zombie survival multiplayer horror game that places you and your group of friends into a walker-infested hellscape. You are, naturally, tasked with surviving these circumstances and are given free rein over how you want to do it. It's a sandbox experience through and through, emphasizing player agency, which, in turn, promotes creativity and "on-the-go" thinking, that'll lead every group of survivors into different outcomes. Want to build a five-star hotel out of the scrap you find? Go right ahead. Or, if it's more your prerogative, you can mow down any zombie you come across until you get bored. Whatever you want to do, you're free to. Cryo The environments are ultra spooky. Image via Valko Game Studios With Lethal Company almost singlehandedly spawning this entire co-op horror subgenre that loves its proximity voice chat, it's no wonder that a game very close to the origin is on this list. Cryo puts you in the shoes of a mysterious company worker, sent to Antarctica to figure out why the continent has gone dark and cut its communications. You and your friends really will be on the edges of your seats with this one, having to figure out things quickly but quietly, lest you disturb whatever dark horror awaits you in the pitch blackness of our world's most remote piece of land. Escape the Backrooms Liminal spaces never get old. Screenshot via Fancy Games The crown jewel of the Backrooms meme, Escape the Backrooms has recently received its 1.0 update, releasing in full on Steam. With this huge milestone, the game has been expanded with several new levels and lots of additional content, making the trudge through the liminal spaces much more fulfilling and, of course, fun. Various creatures of the Lovecraftian kind await behind every hallway, with puzzles and riddles along the way that'll make escaping quite the ordeal. Make sure to keep track of who and where your friends are, because some of these monsters have a tendency to copy, mimic, and imitate, tricking you into falling prey to them. GTFO GTFO is among the best co-op shooters out there. Image via 10 Chambers And while these relatively new Company-likes are all fun and games, sticking to some classic hits doesn't hurt a bit. GTFO is one of the best mission-based horror games ever made, combining incredible weapon realism and feedback with that recognizable Left 4 Dead-style gameplay loop where a group of players survives an onslaught of enemies. It's usually cheap on Steam this time of year, and brings with it loads of content to play through, which shouldn't only last you through the spooky season, but also serve as a gateway to fun at any time of year. Its dedicated community means you'll be able to find a group of eager players almost always, even when your own group is offline. Like our content?
