  1. As if you needed more proof that Baldur's Gate 3 is, in fact, a pretty ***** fine video game, Larian’s D&D RPG swept through the video game BAFTA awards yesterday, picking up five of the British entertainment org’s top trophies. Even more impressively - after all, Baldur’s Gate 3 winning a shedload of awards is old hat by now - its latest Best Game triumph means that the sprawling RPG-slash-fanfic machine is now the first video game to win all five of the industry’s major Game of the Year awards. 2. Whether you're walking the serene streets of Silvermoon City or lazing away with a pint of ale in the Lion's Pride Inn, there's no denying that Azeroth ******** as immersive as ever despite the now-aged appearance of World of Warcraft. Still, it's one thing to experience Blizzard's MMORPG from the distance of a third-person camera, but nothing can prepare you for how different it looks through the lens of a VR headset. 3. If you're looking for a new 4X game while we await news of Civilization 7, this post-apocalyptic spin on the strategy game sub-genre all about exploring, expanding, exploiting, and exterminating might be just what you're after. Bringing the established hex grids of Civilization 6, Old World, and Endless Legend to a ruined, futuristic version of Earth, Revival: Recolonization version 1.0 has just released on Steam following just under ten months in early access. 4. Overwatch 2’s season 10 will introduce a new damage hero, Venture, along with a new mode and map, but let’s be honest: it’s all about the new skins, baby. Several of the skins in the battle pass are themed around the Mirrorwatch event, which imagines the world where heroes from Overwatch and villains from Talon swapped sides and uniforms. This makes for some fun crossovers. View the full article
  5. Enlarge (credit: SOPA Images / Contributor | LightRocket) [/url] Epic Games has filed a proposed injunction that would stop Google from restricting third-party app distribution outside Google Play Store on Android devices after proving that Google had an ******** monopoly in markets for Android app distribution. Epic is suggesting that competition on the Android mobile platform would be opened up if the court orders Google to allow third-party app stores to be distributed for six years in the Google Play Store and blocks Google from entering any agreements with device makers that would stop them from pre-loading third-party app stores. This would benefit both mobile developers and users, Epic argued in a wide-sweeping proposal that would greatly limit Google's control over the Android app ecosystem. US District Court Judge James Donato will ultimately decide the terms of the injunction. Google has until May 3 to respond to Epic's filing. 6. If you're less of a vault dweller and more of a wanderer, be it of wastelands or more hospitable climates, cloud gaming services like Nvidia GeForce Now can prove an invaluable tool to get your gaming fix, providing the games you want to play are available. Wandering fans of Fallout have reason to rejoice then, as games from the series make their return to the cloud following a prolonged ******* of absence. Read the rest of the story... 7. I've seen some pretty small mechanical gaming keyboard designs in my time, but this one goes a big step further than even the smallest 60% designs out there. With just three mechanical keyswitches, plus a control dial, you won't be able to type out the complete works of Shakespeare on this cute little bar of keys, or at least not very quickly, but you could play a round of Tetris with it. The aptly named XYZA TinyKeyboard Custom 2.0 is unlikely to be listed among the best gaming keyboards any time soon, but its genuine mechanical switches certainly make it an interesting piece of PC hardware. Like most PC gaming keyboards these days, this newly announced mini keyboard even has an LED backlight. Read the rest of the story... 8. MSI has just announced a new range of PC fans that can clip together and pass on power and fan/RGB control without the need for extra cables. The new MSI MPG EZ120 ARGB fan series aren't the first daisy-chainable fans, of course, but they have a unique connection system and a very cool design. That cable-free connection is cool, but our favorite aspect of these fans is their dazzling lighting. These new MSI contenders for a spot on our best PC fan guide each pack in a whopping total of 33 individually addressable LEDs, spread across the fans' front, sides, and blades. 10. Outlast never really seemed like it would be able to make a smooth transition into becoming a multiplayer game. The first two horror games, sharing DNA with Alien: Isolation and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, are frightening in large part because they make players feel utterly alone in an unfathomably terrifying situation. Still, the move away from solo design represented by The Outlast Trials has gone over very well, creator Red Barrels' latest garnering praise and attracting players through the success of its ***** by Daylight reminiscent premise and, as today's news continues, a steady cadence of updates. 11. Even with its huge focus on the never-ending chase for loot, the ******* hunt has gotten a bit stale in Destiny 2 over the last decade of expansions and seasonal content. 14. The latest Helldivers 2 Ship Module adds another buff to what's already one of its most powerful Stratagems. Together, Ship Modules and Stratagems make up the build customization options in Helldivers 2. Stratagems refer to any number of special abilities players can call in during a mission. They range from powerful weapons to defensive fortifications to orbital strikes, and can turn the tide of battle in a wide variety of ways. However, Stratagems usually have lengthy cooldowns, and some of them only have a limited number of uses. It's important to know when and where to call them in. View the full article
  15. I have a rule: no more than one post about a horror game per day. The mind can only withstand so much, after all. But POOLS isn't really a horror game. It's just a walking simulator in which you explore a bunch of underground swimming pools. True, their size and layout defy explanation - what is this, a swimming pool for Slender Men? - but look, there are cute covered slides you can ride down in first-person. You know, like the ones you used to enjoy as a ****. Always that element of anxiety though about getting stuck halfway down, am I right? Read more View the full article
  16. It's no secret that the MOBA ecosystem is dominated by two games: League of Legends, and Dota 2. It's one of the hardest nuts to ******, with games like Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm and Epic Games' Paragon failing to challenge Riot and Valve's respective behemoths. Omeda Studios, however, is hoping to make its mark by breathing new life into Epic's aforementioned MOBA with Predecessor, Paragon's spiritual successor. While certain elements may feel familiar, however, Omeda CEO Robbie Singh tells me that Predecessor learns from its forefather, and innovates in a way that makes it a worthy competitor to LoL and Dota. 18. Oh, Inkbound. I so desperately want to love you. You’re from the studio that mashed together deckbuilders and tower defence to make Monster Train, one of my favourite games ever. 20. Well, hello there, Ghoul. | Image: Bethesda Softworks The new Amazon adaptation of Fallout is excellent, nailing the goofy yet grim vibe of the series, all while telling a new story. It’s so good, in fact, that after the eight episodes were over, I was left with a strong urge to head back into the wasteland. But where to start? An open-world RPG like Fallout 4 felt like too much of a commitment (even with a next-gen update on the way), so I turned to something simpler: the mobile strategy game Fallout Shelter. And now I can’t seem to stop. Now, to be clear, Fallout Shelter isn’t a new game. It launched in 2015, and while it started as a mobile release, it’s been subsequently ported to PC and consoles. It’s a bit like a city-builder, just one that takes place mostly underground. You’re the... Continue reading… View the full article
  21. Between Stalker, The Forest, Rust, and Valheim, the overwhelming majority of modern, open-world survival games have a committed, at least semi-grounded aesthetic. For Stalker 2 dev GSC, it's the quasi nuclear, reality distorting strangeness of Tarkovsky's 1979 film. The Forest and Rust share a rugged, earth-and-stone pragmatism, while Valheim plays on Norse magical realism. There's consistency. There are boundaries. Now the 14th most-wishlisted game on all of Steam, above Homeworld 3, Silent Hill 2, and even Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, a new open-world survival sandbox throws much of that caution to the wind. Inspired by the New Weird of SCP and Remedy's Control, it's a sprawling, cut-loose stage for whatever players want to do, and PCGamesN has an exclusive look and insight from its creators.
