  1. An Elden Ring player has discovered an amusing technique to cheese the Great-Jar Challenge. FromSoftware fans have a long-running tradition of figuring out loopholes to win battles and challenges with minimal effort, otherwise known as "cheesing." One such challenge in Elden Ring involves the Great-Jar, a colossal stationary jar in the poison-laced Caelid region. View the full article
  2. After a lengthy downtime, Warner Bros. Games' MultiVersus is set to release with a seemingly larger roster than was present in the beta. MultiVersus pits some of the most popular characters from the company's franchises together in a fighting game for the ages. First shown off in a beta test during 2022 and 2023, the beta ended in June 2023, so the development team could turn a full focus on polishing the game, which already seemed to have a great starting point. 3. Many of the mechanics and systems of Animal Well are deliberately not told to you as you play, making it hard to find and use important items like Firecrackers. Some enemies cannot be beaten until you obtain Firecrackers during your early adventures within the game. You'll need to avoid dangerous situations instead of getting into fights to figure out where these important items could be. View the full article

  6. So you have managed to make it to the house at the end of the game and found the Tamagotchi. However, what it is used for isn’t exactly obvious, and with the way Animal Well plays, you know the Tamagotchi is going to hold some secrets. How to use the Tamagotchi in Animal WellThe first use for the Tamagotchi is as a pedometer. This may seem kind of useless. But there are actually a lot of chests that lock themselves off after a certain amount of steps. When you first go into the Tamagotchi, you will notice your step counter. Screenshot: YouTube Kenshi WinsThe best way to ensure you get all the secrets of the Tamagotchi in Animal Well is by waiting for the steps to roll around past the 99999 mark and back down to 0. Once it has rolled over, you will be able to get all the secrets of the Tamagotchi, receive the Pedometer, and the secret windings code.If you’re way over 100, leave your PC or console running Animal Well and walk against the side wall while you...View the full article

  8. Wuthering Waves is nearly here, launching worldwide on May 22. To celebrate, Kuro Game Studio is offering a nice spread of rewards and unlockables for those willing to download the game and play it on launch. We'll go through them all in detail below, but in short it seems especially easy to secure at least two five star characters quickly, as well as various loot and valuable items to use as you play. These sorts of launch prizes aren't necessarily unique (many of you might remember the amount of free stuff Genshin Impact threw at players when it launched all those years ago), but Wuthering Waves and its devs are certainly pushing to get folks invested straight away. So, when you start the game you'll be presented with a beginner's banner that you can roll through at a 20% discount until its depleted. This should reward you with a Wuthering Waves character once you do so, which means you'll be getting a lush new squadmate to mess around with fairly quickly! After it's gone don't worry, because you'll be able to set a character focus on the regular banner. This means that, after a select number of rolls, you'll get the character you want gaurenteed. 9. Southfield is what happens when the crops of Stardew Valley have a chance of exploding. While the farming and management genre is so often underpinned by peaceful organizing and relaxing automation, Southfield injects a healthy dose of chaos into the mix. Your next batch could change shape, bounce all over the farm, or even play a song. So while you're building a homestead, crafting structures on your land, and automating where you can, Southfield mainlines physics-based disorder into your hard work. If that sounds like your thing, there's a new closed beta happening very soon. Read the rest of the story... 20. XDefiant is finally upon us. The long-awaited arcade shooter will hopefully buck the trend of Ubi games (reportedly) stuck in development purgatory not turning out great on day one. What's reassuring though is that it looks to be far less aggressive on the monetization front than some of the studio's other games on PS5 and Xbox. On top of this, there are all sorts of ways to cosmetically kit yourself out without spending a dime - in-game, at least. Read the rest of the story... 22. 15 minutes into Prey, the 2017 sci-fi thriller crafted by Arkane Austin, protagonist Morgan Yu shatters their apartment window with a wrench. As hundreds of glass shards fall away, a newly revealed truth changes Morgan’s life forever. This genuinely shocking, perspective-pivoting opening is one of the most incredible introductions to a game world ever made. Seven days into May 2024, Microsoft took up its own metaphorical wrench and shattered Arkane Austin. A veteran of immersive sims – those first-person, highly interactive games where RPG, simulation, and action systems interlock – it was one of the casualties of Xbox’s brutal dismemberment of Bethesda Softworks. This is a heartbreaking situation. Staff ***** off from Arkane Austin have been thrown into the toughest conditions the games industry has ever seen. But, if you’ll permit me to search for the light in this darkness, the soul of the studio has already proven itself incredibly resilient. This is not the first time that financials and parent companies have dictated the course of the immersive sim in Austin, Texas. Despite multiple hardships, the genre always finds a way to survive in this city. Arkane Austin's approach to game design was genuinely beautiful – an elegance matched by few other studios. And, in a drive for soulless corporate number counting, Microsoft has destroyed it. In Microsoft’s own multi-part documentary Power On: The Story of Xbox, a segment discussing the company’s woeful mistreatment of Lionhead Studios saw Phil Spencer say “You acquire a studio for what they’re great at now, and your job is to help them accelerate how they do what they do, not them accelerate what you do.” You’d assume, then, that Xbox would want to foster Arkane Austin. To help it overcome the ******** of Redfall and resume – to quote Xbox’s own Matt ****** – “making impactful and innovative games”. But if a highly profitable corporation worth over $3 trillion has no interest in absorbing one mistake and finding a way to shepherd its artists to success, then one thing is clear: that promise to help studios “accelerate” what they’re good at is empty. Arkane Austin may be gone, but the people still remain. And that brings me back to the studio’s soul. That soul is a community; a growing collective of immersive sim designers that have endured success and hardship in the city of Austin for close to three decades. View the full article

  24. Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian has opened up a new studio in the Polish city of Warsaw. Why? Well, it's causally expanding its influence as it "ramps up" development on "two very ambitious RPGs" that we're definitely not all getting quite hyped up about. Yup, while Baldur's Gate 4 won't be coming from the folks behind BG3, and the "very big RPG that will rule them all" that Swen Vincke's talked about seems like it's still a ways off, Larian's doing some growing. Announced via a tweet, the new studio is called Larian Studios Warsaw, and is based, as you'd expect, in the Polish capital. "With two very ambitious RPGs now starting development," the developer wrote, "what better way to see our visions realised than by growing the team and opening a 7th studio in the heart of Poland’s lively gaming scene!"
