  1. Honkai: Star Rail players have voiced their frustration over the game's relic system, claiming it's unrewarding and restrictive. There are two types of relic sets in Honkai: Star Rail, Planar Ornaments and Cavern Relics. Planar Ornaments, which can be placed in the Planar Sphere and Link Rope slots, serve as additional gear and provide some rare stats. Cavern Relics, on the other hand, boost the character's main stats like HP and ATK. Unlike Planar Ornaments, they have a 4-piece effect that makes the wearer even more powerful. View the full article

While it's true that Arkane's superb FPS immersive sim Prey is probably the closest we ever got to a Half-Life 3 in terms of gameplay mechanics, there's no doubt in my mind that, in terms of narrative storytelling and game structure, Metro Exodus is the closest we ever got... 7. It's another day, so here's news of another Helldivers 2 patch that does things. What are those things? Well, a lot of the usual kinds of fixes, plus a passive swap that stops one of the latest warbond's armours from accidentally being a magnet for buyer's confusion, if not buyer's remorse. If you're out of the loop, the Democratic Detonation Warbond arrived in-game last week, bringing with it a bunch of useful tools to help you continue to battle the returned automatons, even if you can't afford the latest ship module upgrades. Sadly, up until this latest patch arrived, if you bought one of the armour sets on offer, you weren't quite getting what you paid for. As detailed in the notes for patch 01.000.203, the main thing it does is resolve a bit of a mixup regarding the CE-27 Ground Breaker armour. You see, it'd accidentally shipped with a 'servo-assisted' passive, instead of the 'engineering kit' one it was advertised as featuring. Read more View the full article
  8. The voice actor behind the popular Fallout 3 radio host Three Dog has expressed interest in appearing in season two of the Fallout TV show. Erik Todd Dellums played Three Dog in Bethesda’s 2008 post-apocalyptic role-playing game and became the sound of the wasteland for many players. While Three Dog ******** Dellums’ only role in Fallout so far, his performance is a memorable one, given the character’s prominence on the in-game radio station, Galaxy News Radio, and how he would comment on various actions of the Lone Wanderer through his radio broadcasts. In a tweet, Dellums said he would love to voice a new DJ in Fallout Season 2, one “Darker than Three Dog, but just as funny and alluring!” He added: “I've got something new to unleash!” I would love to voice a new DJ in the #FalloutOnPrime series! Darker than ThreeDog, but just as funny and alluring! I've got something new to unleash! Seeking #ToddHoward! #ShareLove #ThreeDog [Hidden Content] — ErikToddDellums (@ErikToddDellums) April 13, 2024 There’s a good reason why it’s unlikely Dellums would be able to reprise his role as Three Dog in Fallout Season 2 even if he wanted to: the TV show looks like it’s heading towards another West Coast location, whereas Three Dog is holded up in the Galaxy News Radio building in Washington D.C., assuming he’s still alive by the time the show kicks off in 2296 — 19 years after the events of Fallout 3. But perhaps, should Bethesda development chief Todd Howard be up for it, Dellums could play a new DJ in Season 2, which is so far unannounced but seems like a decent bet given the popularity of Season 1. IGN has plenty of Fallout TV show coverage to keep you going, including a report on Fallout's Vault-Tec phone number, which may point to an Easter egg, how fans are debating Lucy's XP level, and more. 11. The Fallout TV show once again proves that with the right creative team, videogames can be adapted to almost anything. It's not about breaking some huge, mythical, videogame movie curse. More simply, shows like The Last of Us, and, in fact, the Sonic films, prove that all you need is a good understanding of the source material and the ability to process that into a watchable story. Amazon's Fallout show does this. It has strong characters and uses them to flesh out the retro-futurist post-apocalypse in surprising ways. That said, the final shot of the show's first season raises one big question, and I'm apprehensively waiting to see how it's handled. Read the rest of the story... 16. Remember No? Well, it seems like Disney+ is reinventing them anyway, as it apparently looks set to introduce 24/7 scheduled content. A lot of you younger readers will likely be a lot more familiar with streaming services as opposed to traditional, cable television, meaning you won't be so familiar with the idea that TV didn't used to be as on-demand as it is now. You'd have to "channel hop" looking around different stations for the show you wanted to watch, and there wasn't a guarantee that something good was on. Streaming has pretty much gotten rid of that entirely, but it seems like cable is coming back, as a recent report from The Information claims that Disney+ is looking to introduce 24/7 channels, complete with commercial breaks. This would obviously follow a time-honoured tradition of regularly broadcasted on-the-air TV that started way back in 1936 with the BBC, the world's first regular television service. There aren't really many details on what Disney's plans are exactly for such a feature, but apparently it will be genre-based, or you can choose channels based on whether you want to watch something like the National Geographic, or just one animated Disney film after the other. It doesn't sound like you'll be able to use this feature without a subscription, though, which means you'd essentially be paying to watch content you can otherwise watch ad-free, but with ads spliced throughout what you're watching. 17. Following a mild-to-moderate outcry, Ubisoft have clarified that queasy worm gangster Jabba The Hutt isn't, in fact, a Star Wars Outlaws special edition or season pass exclusive. The apparently much-beloved star slug will appear in every edition of the game, but if you scrape together the credits for the Gold or Ultimate Editions, you'll get access to a Jabba's Gambit mission as part of the game's season pass. It's a timely clarification, because I've just checked on Xitter and yes, #Jabbagate has been trending... in reference to unflattering photos of Donald Trump in 2016. And also, Steven Gerrard in 2020. And... Wrestlemania in 2017? Jabba is quite the meme these days, it seems. Read more View the full article

  19. Hot on the heels of the breakout success of The Last of Us and Fallout TV shows, many are wondering which video games would make a great pick for the next great series. Dragon Age is often suggested as a good candidate for the TV show treatment, but according to its co-creator, that would be a “terrible idea.” In a series of tweets, David Gaider, who created the setting for fantasy role-playing series Dragon Age and was its lead writer while at developer BioWare, said any Dragon Age TV show would have to be “more than a rote adaptation” in order to surface what makes the game’s story unique and interesting, which, he suggested, would be unlikely. Gaider agreed with a user who said the problem with adapting fantasy IPs like Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, or Baldur’s Gate, “is that outside of gaming, they’re just generic fantasy from a visual style standpoint. And their hours of stories are probably better in a game then in a show." “Yeah, you take away the interactive element and you're left with a pretty stock standard fantasy story," he replied. "It would take a pretty deep ***** to distill the elements of each that make them unique and interesting. Not impossible, but it would take more than a rote adaptation.” Gaider sounded unimpressed with Dragon Age's existing animated spin-offs, Dawn of the Seeker and Absolution, saying: “I've never seen them, nor am I interested to.” He added: “As I recall, none of the folks who did the animated shows (while I worked at Bio, at any rate) were particularly interested in authenticity. My (baseless) assumption was always that the IP had been foisted on the animation team out of necessity.” Gaider’s thoughts on Dragon Age are clear, so which video game does he think would make a good TV show? He suggested Disco Elysium, but only if it’s along the lines of the role-playing masterpiece: “I want to see a David ******-style (on acid) Disco Elysium,” Gaider said. “Or maybe Banishers.” “It would need to be as weird and experimental as the game or there'd really be no point," he added. "Which, of course, means it'd never happen, but it's interesting to contemplate just HOW weird it could be.” In 2020, a Disco Elysium TV show adaptation was announced as coming from the producer of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Developer ZA/UM reportedly partnered with dj2 Entertainment to develop the TV series, although work was described as in the early stages. Little has been said since. As well as Dragon Age, BioWare is known for its science fiction series, Mass Effect. Over the years reports have suggested a Mass Effect adaptation was under consideration, with The Witcher star Henry Cavill even teasing his involvement. So far, nothing has come of it. Gaider’s views on a potential Mass Effect TV show reflect his views on a potential Dragon Age TV show. Responding to tweets, he said: “Is there any way for it NOT to be just a painted over Star Trek, though? Because we've got plenty of Star Trek at home, kids.” And, on a potential Mass Effect movie: “In what way would it be amazing and not something we've seen a dozen times, though? Do you mean ‘amazing to me, a fan already familiar with the story and universe’?” As for Dragon Age, the next game in the series, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, is set for a reveal this summer. 20. Baldur's Gate 3 may offer players an assortment of abilities and tools to ******** their enemies but a Rogue skill is easily one of the best in the game and one dedicated fan just made it even stronger. Unlocked as early as Level 1, the Sneak ******* skill allows sneaker characters to deal an additional 1d6 damage to a foe they have Advantage against or when an ally is within 5ft of their target. It's remarkably simple to set up and while it's already an extremely potent way to dish out pain, a new mod has made it even better. 22. Smite 2 has just popped up on Steam, and has already soared all the way up to the platform's Top Sellers list. The game has yet to get its initial release date. It doesn't even have an open beta available. This surge of interest comes entirely through pre-ordered founders packs. There are three of these founders packages in total - the founders edition, the deluxe founders edition, and the ultimate founders edition - which range from $30 to $100 in value. While the game will be free-to-play on launch, the basic pack will get you all the Smite 2 Gods (characters) forever, some exclusive cosmetics, as well as a 2x bonus to any legacy gems you bring over from the original Smite. As for the higher tiers, they provide additional skins and cosmetics as well as ascension passes (which are basically paid-for progression passes for individual Gods). All these, which don't even ensure access to the game's alpha nor beta tests, were enough to supercharge Smite 2's sudden ascent to the top of the Top Sellers charts. Read more View the full article
  23. As a big fan of Ori And The ****** Forest, I am very excited for Moon Studios' new venture No Rest For The Wicked, an online ARPG which swaps the cutesyness of Ori and that ickle wickle forest for top-down fights against abominations slathered in muck and entrails. A new early access release trailer highlights said fights, alongside the devs saying that there's going to be no microtransactions, no always-online requirement, and no anti-cheat software bundled in. I don't want to speak too soon, but so far, it looks like we're onto something pretty ***** good here. Read more View the full article
  24. The newest patch for Helldivers 2, Patch 1.000.203, just dropped in from outer space, and it’s a double-edged sword. While the dev fixed the new armor’s perk and some crashes are no more, Divers still must deal with several game-warping problems that endured the bug spray. We’re no stranger to Helldivers 2 patches not completely fixing an undoubtedly complicated game, but this patch left much to be desired. Patch 1.000.203 offers a singular gameplay change—giving the CE-27 Ground Breaker its correct passive of Engineering Kit. Getting more grenades on the Democratic Detonation Warbond‘s signature armor is fantastic, so we’re happy to see this.
