  1. So now that you've read our preview of Wabisabi Games' upcoming platformer RKGK (and if you haven't, go back and do so, we'll just wait here), you should know by now that the game ended up surprising us in a couple of ways. But as seen at the very end of that article, it had one more surprise as well. When it was revealed, the game simply had a vague "Summer 2024" release window, which made it sound like it wouldn't be until at least June before the game's release. Well, it turns out that RKGK was actually taking a cue from the summer movie season, and will actually be coming out later this month. The news was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer, which you can check out below. View the full article
  2. A new live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe has been in the works for what feels like forever, but it's now getting close to finally happening, and Amazon MGM Studios is backing it - with some interesting talent attached. After Netflix shut down costly development on the movie last year, Mattel was quick to team up with Amazon to give the project yet another refresh (it's been floating around since 2017). This makes sense, as the toy giant has been trying to get as many projects based on its IPs as possible off the ground ever since Barbie defied all our collective expectations last year and broke box office records. Deadline shared the exclusive news that Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee director Travis Knight was circling the project earlier this year. Now, Variety is reporting that Mattel Films and Amazon have dated the movie for a theatrical release on June 5, 2026, meaning they're quite serious about the current iteration of the project, which is written by Knight's partner Chris Butler (ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings). 3. As Manor Lords and Bellwright soar on Steam, it's clear there's a big appetite for medieval sandbox and building games right now. Rimworld-style colony sim Norland is looking to be the latest winner from that trend, having just attained a huge milestone by hitting half a million wishlists, making it one of the most wanted games on Steam. In light of that news, developer Long Jaunt has made the decision to push back the Norland release date in order to add some additional features. Read the rest of the story... 5. Image: Universal Studios / Nintendo The Super Nintendo World area opening at Universal Studios in Orlando next year will include every attraction from the existing theme parks in Hollywood and Japan — including the first Donkey Kong Country realm in the US. That’s according to Universal’s latest teaser for its fourth Orlando-based park, Epic Universe, which provides some clarity over what guests can expect on opening day in 2025. Some of the experiences coming to Orlando’s Super Nintendo World include Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, an interactive track ride already featured at the Hollywood park that’s inspired by the Mario Kart racing game series, and a version of the Mine-Cart Madness roller coaster that’s under construction in Japan’s Donkey Kong Country. 7. Baldur's Gate 3 is a Larian Studios game, and boy howdy are those things dense—as CRPGs tend to be. A far cry from the open-world RPGs saturated with merry little tasks that succeeded them, most CRPGs put you in a large-ish area that's utterly rammed with stuff. Dungeons, quests, dialogue, sewers—on average a CRPG's world is smaller, but by Mystra is it full... Read more.View the full article
  8. Following the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3’s Season 3 Reloaded update this week, dataminers have unearthed compelling evidence that the shooter is set for a number of eye-catching collaborations for Season 4. Twitter user @CODWarfareForum shared a screenshot revealing discovered code that mentions Fallout, Gundam, and The Crow as coming with the so-far unannounced Season 4. Season 4 bring the following #MWIII #Season4 GUNDAM CROSS OVER FALLOUT CROSS OVER THE CROW CROSS OVER@charlieINTEL @ModernWarzone [Hidden Content] — COD Warfare All the news (@CODWarfareForum) May 1, 2024 The Fallout crossover is clearly timed to coincide with the breakout Prime Video TV show, which itself has boosted interest in all things Fallout in recent weeks. What ******** to be seen is whether the Call of Duty content has to do with the TV show or the video games, but given Microsoft owns both Call of Duty and Fallout via subsidiaries Activision and Bethesda, we’re sure it will have been a smooth deal. Power Armor Limited Time Mode, perhaps? Vault jumpsuit skin, maybe? Meanwhile, The Crow crossover is clearly designed to coincide with the upcoming The Crow movie, starring Bill Skarsgard. This is a reboot and a remake of the cult classic 1994 original, and is set to hit theaters in August. The expectation is Season 4 kicks off on May 29, although Activision has yet to announce a release date. Call of Duty is no stranger to eye-catching crossovers, of course. It recently collaborated with Games Workshop for Warhammer 40,000 skins and even a limited time mode in which players assumed the role of a Space Marine, all of which were similarly datamined ahead of release. That’s not all dataminers have found while digging into the latest Call of Duty update. There’s the suggestion that a teaser reveal for this year’s mainline Call of Duty game, reportedly a ****** Ops Gulf War game, is set for May, setting up a full reveal during Microsoft’s June Xbox showcase. 9. Escape From Tarkov rival Gray Zone Warfare has proved a Steam hit after selling 400,000 copies in two days. Developer Madfinger Games posted on X/Twitter to reveal the "incredible" sales figure that saw Gray Zone Warfare sit atop Steam's best-seller list for its first two days on the market. It's now dropped to second but only behind the Steam Deck, meaning it's still the best-selling game over the likes of Counter Strike 2, Manor Lords, Helldivers 2, and, well, everything else. "400,000 copies of Gray Zone Warfare sold," Madfinger said in the post, below. "We're speechless. In just two days of Early Access, we've welcomed 400,000 PMCs to Lamang Island. Your support is beyond incredible. Thank you, everyone. Let's keep pushing forward together, and always remember, every move matters." 400k Copies of #GZW Sold We're speechless! Let's keep pushing forward together, and always remember, #EveryMoveMatters.#GrayZoneWarfare [Hidden Content] — Gray Zone Warfare (@GrayZoneWarfare) May 1, 2024 Gray Zone Warfare was released into Early Access on April 30, 2024 as a tactical first-person shooter with am emphasis on detail and realism. It also arrived just as the community of Escape From Tarkov, a similarly ********* and realistic online first-person shooter currently in beta, erupted against the developer after a series of controversies. Correlation between the two was noted by many players, some of which said they were quitting Escape From Tarkov to play Gray Zone Warfare. This came after Escape From Tarkov players shared their frustration at "shameless" and "tone deaf" developer Battlestate Games, which released a $250 edition with exclusive content and pay to win elements. Gray Zone Warfare hasn't been without issues, however, as many players complained of poor performance amongst other problems. Its Steam rating was "Mostly Negative" on launch day before slowly climbing back up to "Mixed" where it sits currently, with 64% of all reviews being positive. 10. The latest hotfix for Helldivers 2 is here and the community isn't all that impressed as it seemingly introduces more issues than it fixes. Developer Arrowhead Studios has been incredibly diligent when it comes to issues updates for its latest game and while many developers could stand to learn from its approach when it comes to the live-service model, sometimes a patch just doesn't hit right. After months of excellent improvements and some controversial balance changes, the 01.000.301 Patch is here and it's not really doing much to fix the overall experience. View the full article

Not ‘the country of *******’ bad, but certainly not good enough that you’d want me on your pub quiz team. Also, I still do the Shredded Wheat rhyme internally when I have to follow directions. However, I do enjoy making maps turn a different colour in strategy games, Total War chiefly among them.
