  8. The effects of VALORANT Patch 8.11 on the pro meta have been instantaneous. But as the 2024 VCT season progresses and the matches become must-win, it’s tough to say whether teams will stick with the new changes. Patch 8.11 drastically shook up the duelist class earlier this month, providing massive buffs to both Iso and Neon, while “balancing” Reyna with changes that favored teamwork over solo play, and giving Raze a slight nerf to her satchel boost movement capabilities. All three enhanced duelists have seen time on the VCT stage, but it feels like one in particular will be sticking around in pro VALORANT moving forward. View the full article
  9. The controversy surrounding Palworld being a “Pokémon clone” was massive when the game released earlier this year, but Nintendo doesn’t seem to have done anything about it, according to Palworld‘s devs. In an interview with GameFile, producer Takuro Mizobe spoke about the controversy regarding plagiarism accusations from fans of Nintendo’s pocket monster franchise. Earlier in the year, The Pokémon Company did release a statement that they would “investigate and take appropriate measures” against copyright infringement. But according to Mizobe, the gaming giant hasn’t done anything to them yet. View the full article
  10. John Romero could be ordained as Pope, and people would still come up at mass and ask him about the early days of id Software and *****. One of the key figures in early FPS history and by far the most infamous and outspoken, Romero's brand of hirsute grungy swagger worked for a very simple reason: the games he designed and promoted were brilliant (until they weren't)... 11. It was clear from the very beginning that Elden Ring is chock-full of Berserk references. 12. A fresh Honkai: Star Rail 2.4 ***** about March 7ths new form has arisen and, with it, proof that the Trailblazer needs one major update to their current self. March 7ths new form in the turn-based RPG had been widely rumored before actual confirmation came from developer HoYoverse. Now, the characters full redesign and new Path alignment have been officially showcased by the developer and, alongside 5-star characters Jiaoqiu and Yunli, this new form has been confirmed as one of the new playable units in Version 2.4, though details about March 7ths new form in Honkai: Star Rail are scarce. 13. One Piece season 2 is yet to start filming, but it has just added a fresh batch of pirates for Luffy and co to take down. With the live-action adaptation One Piece being as successful as it was, it wasn't much of a surprise when Netflix quickly renewed it for a second season. Not a huge amount has been shared about season 2 just yet, but Netflix did have some big news to share today: the first batch of new cast mates has been announced, giving everyone a first look at the Baroque Agents. Joining the cast in season 2 are David Dastmalchian (Ant Man, Late Night With the ******) as Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson (Batwoman) as Mr. 5, Daniel Lesker (Raised by Wolves) as Mr. 9, and Jazzara Jaslyn (Warrior) as Miss Valentine. I won't spoil too much for you, but the Baroque Agents in the original series are a ********* syndicate that is aiming to conquer the Arabasta Kingdom, so the casting of these characters is clearly pointing to where the Straw Hats are heading next. As you can probably tell by the naming convention, there are a bunch of other numbered Baroque Agents that will show up too, with the head honcho yet to be revealed, so you'll have to stay put for more casting news on that front. 14. It's hotter than the inside of a horse here, so what better time to play an RPG about driving randomly through the desert in search of enlightenment. The RPG in question is Broke Signal Badlands: A World of Desert Adventure, and yes, that's a very upbeat subtitle for a game in which you can perish after getting your hand stuck in the door of an abandoned Fonts Museum, or while yanking cacti out of your foot. There are gunfights, too, with dice serving as bullets, but so far, I've only managed to **** of pathetic human error and clumsiness. Consider me unenlightened, but enthused. 16. Amid the sweeping changes and exciting new content listed in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail’s preliminary patch notes, there’s a game-changing upgrade hidden under the Housing and Miscellaneous notes: The infamously ineffective Blacklist function will finally serve as more than a glorified mute button in Patch 7.0. Currently, Blacklisting a player in FFXIV omits their messages in chat and prevents them from sending you private Tells, Trade requests, or party invites, and nothing more. It does nothing to stop that player from queueing into the same duties as you, joining a Party Finder group that you’re in but not hosting, or even entering your private player housing. 17. Modders add a lot of cool stuff to their various games of choice, and this might be one of the coolest additions I've seen for any game in a while. A relatively new Baldur's Gate 3 mod casually gives the RPG an entire new mode, which allows you and your party to battle through waves of foes roguelike-style. Yup, while we've still got a little bit to wait until Patch 7 brings the full release of BG3's official modding tools, along with a heap of other stuff, folks are already doing things that make you go 'what...really?' 'Trials of Tav - a roguelike mode', by modder Hippo0o, is definitely one of those things, given that it adds an entire standalone roguelike mode to the RPG. As you'd expect, the "combat-only mode lets you ****** waves of enemies in progressively ******* encounters. Doing so will net you random loot with rarity-based drop rates as well as a RogueScore and currency used to unlock powerful power-ups". Read more View the full article
  18. Celebrate summer in style by grabbing yourself a special price on the king of gaming handhelds, the Steam Deck. Valve has knocked 15% off the price of two of its Steam Deck LCD models, meaning you can get in on the portable gaming action for less than ever before just in time for your summer holidays. Despite still being comfortably the least powerful of the main portable gaming options, the Steam Deck still reigns supreme as the best handheld gaming PC thanks to its ease of use and vast library of compatible games. The Steam Deck OLED might still be the most desirable version but the Steam Deck LCD is nevertheless a great option, especially at these new low prices. Read the rest of the story... 20. Disney's Epic Mickey: Rebrushed comes to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 24, 2024. In the trailer, below, publisher THQ Nordic also revealed a $60 price for the remake and a $200 Collector's Edition. Those who preorder either edition of the single-player adventure also get three skins and 24 hours of early access, though the latter offer is not available to PC players. The Collector's Edition comes with a 28cm Mickey Mouse statue, an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit keychain, a vintage Mickey Mouse tin sign, six postcards, a steelbook, a digital costume pack, and the game itself for the $200 cost. "Join Mickey Mouse on a colourful adventure as he traverses Wasteland, a world inspired by Disney classic stories," the game's synopsis reads. "Play the 2010 classic along with a variety of upgrades in this enhanced remake of the action-adventure 3D platformer originally released on the Wii console." The original received an 8/10 in IGN's review. The game had "a stellar story, fantastic characters, incredible cutscenes, and a solid core gameplay mechanic," we said, but also "fundamental problems with controls, the camera, and even continuity." Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article
  21. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has finally been released, and as expected of a FromSoftware game, it doesn't hold back when it comes to difficulty. At first glance, it's much ******* than the base game, but there's a bit of nuance to this shift in difficulty. It has a different style from the base game, and the scaling is more similar to Sekiro instead. But trying to compare the difficulty of the DLC to the base game isn't an easy task, considering that both the boss stats and scaling changed for the DLC. View the full article

The Cerulean Coast is a glorious, hard-to-find area, as is Shadow of the Erdtree‘s Abyssal Woods (albeit with some untouchable monsters). Bonny Village is another area that falls into the category.
