  1. We still don’t have much information on Pokémon Legends: Z-A just yet, but one creative fan drew up a new speculative form outside of Mega Evolution and regional variants that could be the perfect addition to the sequel. The Pokémon Company has only released one trailer for Legends: Z-A so far, and all we know for sure is the game will center around the redevelopment of Lumiose, one of the biggest cities in the Kalos region. The trailer also teased the return of Gen VI’s Mega Evolution mechanic, prompting fans to predict which Pokémon may receive new Mega Evolutions, with Charizard, Flygon, and Incineroar as top picks. 6. Riot Games shipped Teamfight Tactics 14.9B-patch on May 2, targeting a Ghostly trait bug and nerfs to overperformers like Lissandra and Talisman of Ascension. Players were notified of a TFT Set 11 14.9 emergency B-patch late on May 1, which contained fixes to the Ghostly trait and other known issues. No balance changes were revealed during the announcement, but many in the community expected at least a nerf or two; Lissandra has been dominating the Inkborn Fables meta since Patch 14.8 and the new Artifact, Talisman of Ascension, has become the most picked item since Patch 14.9. Other Artifacts have been performing well in the Inkborn Fables meta too, but only Lissandra and Talisman of Ascension were targeted through the TFT Set 11 14.9 B-patch. View the full article
  7. The Spring Superdrop Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair, which is slated to release in mid-May, has today been lambasted by players, many of whom have turned the jets on Wizards of the Coast over the Sans Mercy drop. All Secret Lair cards are legal to play in Eternal formats like Commander, Legacy, and Vintage. Many were excited about the Hatsune Miku Secret Lair set to be included in the Spring Superdrop. But the reception after the May 2 preview of a Sans Mercy drop has players frustrated at Wizards for “fumbling the theme.” View the full article

  16. Limited Run Games, the company known for selling limited, special-edition quantities of physical video games, has issued an apology after fans complained that they were having issues playing the physical re-release of the game D on the original 3DO game console. Several on X/Twitter and Reddit pointed out the problems, including X/Twitter user @ToddNerdCave, who noted that the company is putting the 3DO games on CD-Recordable (CD-R) instead of pressed discs. "They won't even work on real hardware," he added. lol @LimitedRunGames is shipping out 3DO games on CDR (rather than pressed discs) and the best part: they won’t even work on real hardware. [Hidden Content] — Todd Gill - Retro Frog (@ToddsNerdCave) May 1, 2024 For those unaware of the difference between CD-R and pressed discs, the former are blank discs that can record data using a CD burner. At the same time, the latter has data permanently encoded and is used for commercial releases of physical media, including movies and video games. Pricing and scarcity of these products aside, Limited Run Games' decision to use CD-R over pressed discs is an issue regarding compatibility, as older devices with optical drives might have issues reading CD-Rs. Another user on X/Twitter pointed out the absurdity of Limited Run Games' choice, calling out that the company is charging more than $60 for a limited physical release, "yet they're burning CD-Rs for some of the disc-based titles." In a statement sent to IGN, a Limited Run Games spokesperson acknowledged that "some of [its] customers have experienced issues" when trying to play D: The Collector's Edition on the original 3DO console. They apologize to those experiencing the issues, pledging to work with "new partners to find a solution" to get pressed discs to replace the CD-R discs customers received and noting that future 3DO games would not enter production "until this issue has been fully resolved." You can read the full statement from Limited Run Games below. We’ve been made aware that some of our customers have experienced issues when trying to play our release of D: The Collector’s Edition on original 3DO hardware. Firstly, we would like to apologize unreservedly to all who have purchased the game and experienced an issue. At Limited Run Games, the quality of our products is paramount to us, we care deeply about our loyal community, and it is clear on this occasion we have fallen short of the high standards we set for ourselves. Manufacturing games for hardware that is 30+ years old presents a variety of challenges. We partner with one of the biggest disc replication providers in North America to press our physical discs and despite researching original 3DO hardware and software extensively, we found quality and reliability issues when attempting to press 3DO discs in the traditional manner. In an attempt to offer full compatibility with original hardware, our disc replication partner was able to successfully manufacture the discs using a CD-R format, which we believed would work across all commercially available 3DO systems. This process was professionally done and was used to ensure maximum compatibility rather than serve as a cost-cutting exercise. We tested the discs on the 3DO consoles in our office and all five discs from the game worked as expected. It was only upon shipping to our customers that we came to realise that some users were experiencing difficulty. We will not be selling or shipping further copies of this game, or any future 3DO titles until the situation has been resolved. We are currently working with new partners to find a solution for traditionally pressed discs and will offer replacement discs to all customers. We will keep customers updated as this progresses, but in the meantime, any customer who desires can request a full refund at www.limitedrungames.com/support. Please be reassured that D: The Collector’s Edition is the only game affected by this issue. Further 3DO titles will not go into production until this issue has been fully resolved, and we are confident in full compatibility. Apologies again to our 3DO gamers, we will strive to do better. 17. Blizzard has finally delivered patch notes for Diablo 4 version 1.4.0 ahead of Season 4: Loot Reborn’s launch later this month. The full list of changes coming to the studio’s latest dungeon crawler arrives immediately after an in-depth developer update livestream. Following a tumultuous beginning for Diablo 4, Blizzard reported how the recent Player Test Realm (PTR) allowed the team to better consider player feedback and implement it into Season 4. “We think (PTR) went really, really well,” Associate Game Director Joe Piepiora said. “Just having the week of time for players to jump in, crush through all of the content, check out all of the new features, give us a lot of feedback, find a lot of bugs on the way as well was, again, super valuable. It’s been really great for the team. We’ll take a lot of this feedback, look at the tuning, variety of features, and really make sure that we’ve got the best version of the Season 4 experience ready when we get into the launch day.” While early builds of upcoming content aren’t quite so new for other games, Blizzard used the method to ensure that Loot Reborn will live up to its already high expectations. That means including changes players have asked for since Diablo 4 launched back in June 2023, resulting in what Blizzard feels is a more rewarding, less time-consuming experience for every kind of RPG fan. As we discovered during our recent conversation with the Diablo 4 leadership team, Loot Reborn pivots away from the usual themed seasonal model many are used to. Though new content in the form of Call of the Wolves and The Pit offers new story and gameplay additions, Season 4 is more about reworking itemization and Diablo 4’s core innerworkings. The changes are meant to help bolster the experience as the team continues to work closer to the release of its first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, later this year. During a Q&A segment, Piepiora confirmed that PTR has affected the length of Season 4: Loot Reborn, but not by much. “PTR is not as impactful for the timing here,” he said. “I think it’s a slightly shorter season. I think it’s one week shorter, I need to look at the date.” He continued: “It’s not that having a PTR automatically means everything is going to take longer to deliver, but there’s a lot of things that we had to set up for the first time for the PTR for Season 4, and I’m really glad that we did.” While Diablo 4’s first full year on the market rolls on, Blizzard has revealed that it will no longer hold BlizzCon 2024. Although the event’s absence might leave players wanting more, Diablo 4 Season 4 still aims to bring some of the most substantial changes to the formula yet. Many have gone as far as to consider this month’s seasonal update Diablo 5. Series boss Rod Fergusson noted these feelings during an interview with IGN, acknowledging that the update does bring a “foundational change” to Diablo 4. Season 4: Loot Reborn launches May 14 You can read the full patch notes for Diablo 4 version 1.4.0 below.
