  1. Arrowhead Game Studios confirms that starting on May 6, Helldivers 2 players on PC will need to link their Steam account to an active PlayStation Network account in order to continue playing. Since its launch in February, Helldivers 2 has become a massive success for Arrowhead, and it's publishing partner with Sony. The game's launch on PC and PS5 wasn't without difficulties initially, but the game's popularity has only continued to grow in the past few months as the live service elements continue to see the experience change and evolve almost on a weekly basis. 2. A League of Legends developer addressed rumors alleging that the Vanguard anti-cheat system was bricking players' PCs. The rollout of the Vanguard system, developer Riot Games' custom kernel-level anti-cheat software, has been controversial for the game's player base since it was revealed it would be implemented into its massively popular MOBA. Fans' fears only intensified when several users reported encountering problems with Vanguard, with some claiming they could no longer even boot their systems after League of Legends' latest patch. 4. I didn't have a Game Boy Camera as a lad, partly because I couldn't afford one, and partly because my "friends" used to troll me ("bullying", I think we called it back then) about my Game Boy. Amongst other things, they'd reach over and flick the power off while I was playing The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. I didn't finish that game for 15 years. I'd flown the family nest before I braved the Eagle's Tower. Can you imagine what my friends would have done if I'd owned a Game Boy Camera? Probably, they'd have taken photos of... bottoms with it, and such. I'm aware I'm not making a great case for being a graduate of the School of Hard Knocks. The point is: I didn't have a Game Boy Camera then, so I'm delighted that the Game Boy Camera has caught on among a later generation of indie PC developers - prominent among them artist and educator Catharine Graffam, whose GB Camera Gallery: Mystery Show you can play for free in a browser. 6. Asus has just unveiled the world's first dual-fan AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT graphics cards, in the shape of the Asus Dual Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Asus Dual Radeon RX 7900 XT. As all previous graphics cards based on these AMD GPUs sported three fans, you might expect a dual-fan variant to have a small card design, but that's not the case with these cards. As AMD's current best graphics card for gaming, the RX 7900 XTX is a monstrously powerful card that generally needs every bit of help it can get to remain cool while still being quiet. However, these new Asus versions of AMD's finest appear to cut down their cooling capacity, while not obviously offering any other advantages. Read the rest of the story... 7. There’s nothing better in Counter-Strike than competing at LAN in front of your home audience and for Aussie squad Bad News Kangaroos, opportunities are few and far between—which made last weekend’s ESL Challenger Melbourne clash with ESL Pro League Season 19 in Malta all the more painful. But, despite the pain of missing their home tournament, captain Toby “BRACE” Barnes would give up every single Aussie LAN opportunity if it meant more time playing against the best teams in Europe. “Finding out we were missing DreamHack was pretty gutting, it’s one of the biggest things we look forward to playing all year,” BRACE said to Dot Esports. 10. Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge After slamming the Switch emulator Yuzu with a $2.4 million lawsuit that caused it to shut down, Nintendo is now taking aim at its copies. The gaming giant submitted a total of 8,535 takedown notices for Yuzu emulator forks on GitHub, as spotted earlier by TorrentFreak and PCGamer. When news of Nintendo’s lawsuit against Yuzu first broke, users began preserving the emulator’s code by making copies and uploading it to places like GitHub. But now, a copy of Nintendo’s Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown request says GitHub took action “against the entire network of 8,535 repositories, inclusive of the parent repository.” [/url] The request says the repositories in question “offer and provide access to the yuzu emulator or code,”... 13. Farming simulators often require a lot of attention and thought, belying their cosy aesthetics and gentle, relaxing music. Even a game like Stardew Valley can feel like a part-time job occasionally. Rusty's Retirement effectively sidesteps this issue. Not only is it a peaceful, pastoral farm and building game, it only occupies a portion of your monitor, allowing you to split your attention between your crops and anything else on your desktop. 15. When a Fortnite update goes live, players receive all sorts of errors after downloading the latest patch. On May 3, 2024, the “you do not have permission to play” error affected the decent portion of Fortnite‘s player base preventing them from playing the Star Wars update immediately after the servers went live. Most errors like the “you do not have permission to play” tend to be related to Fortnite‘s server status which fluctuates between online and offline as player counts surge. Considering Fortnite updates tend to be large in size, most players pre-load them and wait for servers to come back online. However, when servers slowly start coming back online, way too many players rush into the gates, causing them to struggle once again. View the full article
