Mithril Interactive have announced that their (deep, rasping breath) first-person player-versus-player-versus-****** dungeon crawler extraction sim (FPPvPvEDCES) Dungeonborne will launch into early access on Thursday July 18th. Here are some more intuitive, albeit no more elegant, ways of summarising what you do in Dungeonborne than "FPPvPvEDCES": sword go clang, goblin go ****, treasure chest go jingle-jangle, other player go stab-in-the-back. The arrival of a significant event in Pokémon Go typically means the appearance of a new or Mythical Pokémon, and for a brief time, you have the chance to catch Marshadow. It’s making its debut during the Pokémon Go Fest 2024 Global event for anyone who purchases a ticket. For anyone who buys a ticket, Marshadow is guaranteed to appear. It won’t be in a wild encounter or through a raid, though. It’ll be a better process for those who actively want to focus on the Pokémon Go Fest 2024 Global event rather than securing Marshadow immediately. If you do not have a ticket for the event, expect to see Marshadow reappearing in another event sometime later in the year. View the full article
When it comes to catching a Pokémon, there’s nothing like encountering a Shiny version, especially in Pokémon Go. With Marshadow making its debut during the Pokémon Go Fest 2024 Global event, many players are keen to see if they can catch a Shiny version. It’s important to note that Marshadow is a Mythical Pokémon, meaning it only appears during special events. To ensure you get it when it initially goes live, purchase a Pokémon Go Fest 2024 Global ticket before the event. Buying a ticket does guarantee anyone who has one does get a Marshadow, but because of how rare Shiny versions are, don’t expect to find one during the event. View the full article

The Astral Plane is central to the plot and several of the characters in Baldur's Gate 3. It acts as a realm beyond the material plane where strange magic and extraterrestrial creatures can be found, as well as a prison for an important NPC. However, the game never really gets into the specifics of the Astral Plane, explaining where it is physically in space or how time moves differently within it. View the full article
I have a lot of sympathy for the perils of game development. Chief among them is the ******* of having to not only get feedback, but filter it: Getting into spats over balance tweaks, the difficulties of community management, and sometimes dealing with actual threats that need police intervention. Baldur’s Gate 3 became one of the most influential games of the last few years due to how complex it was. Players were able to do whatever they want, including having a **** with a bear, which a dev praised recently. Although, praised may be an understatement. While speaking at Develop: Brighton 2024, Baudelaire Welch, the senior narrative designer for Baldur’s Gate 3, called the **** scene “a watershed moment in game history.” The writer went into details of making this scene and the entire romance with Halsin, the Druid in Baldur’s Gate 3 who can turn into a bear and woo your character if you let him. Welch pointed out how important romance is in video games because romances outlive their games for years to come due to the fan fiction they eventually produce. That’s why the bear **** scene is so critical from their standpoint. View the full article
Overwatch 2’s next hero is on her way. Actually, she might have already landed, according to an in-game teaser found with this week’s update. A spacecraft was found in the attackers’ spawn room on Dorado earlier in the week, teasing the game’s 41st hero, previously announced at last year’s BlizzCon as a support hero codenamed Space Ranger. Take the ship-building of No Man's Sky and Starfield, add in the tactical combat and roguelike structure of FTL, and supplement it with a card system reminiscent of Slay the Spire or the recently released Zet Zillions, and you have Breachway. One of my most-wanted indies of 2024, the space game has already shot up into the higher echelons of the Steam rankings with over 150,000 wishlists, but developer Edgeflow Studio and publisher Hooded Horse made the decision to push it back from its original launch date to ensure a strong debut. Now, it's finally almost ready to go. Read the rest of the story... Image: Analogue The Analogue Pocket is getting yet another iteration — but this time, it’s a little more than a refreshed ****** scheme. An aluminum edition is coming out this month, and the company says that the new handhelds “are precision CNC’d entirely in aluminum.” They come in four colors — natural, noir, ******, and indigo — and will be available to preorder on July 15th at 8AM PT / 11AM ET, with units expected to ship on July 17th. That metal body doesn’t come cheap, though. The aluminum Pocket will cost $499, a big boost over the $219 of the standard version. Analogue says that the new version will be “available in highly limited quantities and will never be sold again.” Here’s a look at all the aluminum parts of the device: I... There's a lot to like about Zenless Zone Zero; as can probably be expected from a HoYoverse title at this point, the game has top-notch visuals, exceptionally stylish presentation, and a level of consistent polish that even some of the industry's biggest games can often fail to achieve. But, even putting aside some of the game's more obvious negatives, like the controversial TV traversal system or the typical HoYoverse gacha grind, there's one core aspect of the game that I think holds back its (admittedly very flashy and stylish) combat. Look here, it's the first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, showing us what'll be in store when Anthony Mackie picks up his shield again and battles some baddies in the name of well, America. All the big guns get a good amount of time in this debut teaser for the film, which is pencilled in to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. From Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, to Danny Ramirez as Falcon, and even a moustache-free Harrison Ford as Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross. Oh, and right at the end of it, we get a quick peek at a Red Hulk, because who doesn't need a colour change once in a while. As all good trailers do, this one bascially provides us with a nice snapshot of the film's story, with Ford as Ross summoning Sam Wilson in order to propose making Captain America an official tool of the US military, something Wilson definitely doesn't look to be fan of. Maybe it's the fact that Ross also explains why he's had a shave at the same time, who knows? Read more View the full article
Nexon Games addressed rumors claiming its third-person looter shooter The First Descendant stole assets from Bungie's Destiny 2. The First Descendant enjoyed a highly successful release back on July 2, racking up over 200,000 concurrent users within the first few hours of its debut. However, the game has also suffered from wave after wave of criticism, with some players now even alleging that the game reused barely edited icons from Destiny 2. View the full article

The developers behind Once Human - a survival game that's seriously popping off right now - have come out and addressed some of its biggest problems. This includes character-specific cosmetics, which the company states will be transitioned to account-wide, and an acknowledgment of seasonal reset concerns. This statement was posted on social media in a lengthy post, covering the entire process and planned fixes. This statement, public-facing and thick with community appreciation, reads as follows: "Thank you so much for taking the time to discuss with us and provide such detailed feedback about Once Human's gameplay. We understand Metas' concerns about the mandatory seasonal resets and how they can affect your sense of progression and attachment to your character." Read more View the full article
Pokémon Go Fest 2024: Global is upon us, with the event kicking off from July 13 to 14 from 10am to 6pm local time. For those who have the paid ticket, there are a few bonuses you should look out for when using Incense. Incense are items in Pokémon Go that last for a number of minutes (in this case, 60 for Go Fest 2024: Global) and spawn rare Pokémon that won’t appear in the wild any other way. A total of 10+ are appearing this year, but what are they? View the full article
Leaked new Artifacts in Genshin Impact 5.0 are said to boost what seems like an exclusive Natlan mechanic that should revealed in the weeks until the update is introduced. Version 5.0 is expected to be the next patch after Version 4.8, which is yet to be added to the action RPG by HoYoverse. While Version 4.8 will bring forth Emilie as a playable character and a limited-time summer event, Version 5.0 will be a massive update that will see the release of Natlan in Genshin Impact. With it, a new region, new characters, new quests, and more should arrive. View the full article

Fallout fans yearning for the days when the series was an isometric RPG can once again revisit that gameplay style thanks to this new fan-made project that revives the original vision for Fallout 3 by ****** Isle. Spotted by GamesRadar, Fallout Yesterday is a Fallout 2 mod that allows players to play the Fallout 3 that might have been. If you are unfamiliar with Van Buren, it was the codename for the third mainline installment in the Fallout series. Set in the year 2253 in the ********* Southwest, Van Buren would have players controlling a prison while trying to evade robotic prison guards. Fallout Yesterday's Nexus Mods page notes that the mod includes a slew of new content to flesh out what Van Buren might have been. Some changes added to this mod include new items, weapons, traits and perks, and companions, to name a few. Van Buren would ultimately be canceled in late 2003, with Bethesda Softworks acquiring the Fallout IP after Interplay went bankrupt. Bethesda would continue to make Fallout games, including a third mainline installment released in 2008, which would be a major pivot for the franchise, keeping the game in the RPG genre but pivoting from isometric, turn-based combat to action RPG with the option to switch between first or third-person perspectives. Last month, Fallout creator Tim Cain broke his silence on the canceled Fallout project, revealing that an unidentified VP at Interplay asked him to play a prototype of Van Buren. "I don't think they can get it done, so I'm just going to cancel it. But if you look over it and give me an estimate, there's a chance I wouldn't cancel it," the executive told Cain. The Fallout creator spent two hours playing the build and questioned the development team. Cain revealed that he ultimately told the VP he was "convinced" the game could be shipped in 18 months. That, however, proved too long and costly for Interplay. The breakout success of Prime Video's Fallout TV show has boosted interest in all things Fallout, including the classic PC originals. Bethesda development chief Todd Howard recently ruled out remakes of Fallout 1 and 2, saying some of their charm has to do with the fact they remain firmly rooted in the old-school PC role-playing game era of the mid-to-late 90s. Razer recently introduced a new feature for its Huntsman V3 Pro keyboards, allowing players to essentially ******** perfect counter-strafes every time. Naturally, this has rubbed pro CS2 players the wrong way, with some calling for the feature to be banned in competitive play. The feature in question is Razer Snap Tap, announced by the gaming gear manufacturer on July 9. It’s available only on the Huntsman V3 Pro line of keyboards and aims to allow the player to perform “flawless counter-strafing” and “land those game-winning headshots with ease.” It functions by analyzing your last keystroke, so if you press A, the feature automatically presses D for a perfect counter-strafe. Robin “ropz” Kool, one of the best CS2 ***** on the scene, said the feature “shouldn’t be allowed” since it is “literally a macro or script.” View the full article
New Cycle might be the most overlooked city building and strategy game of 2024. We've all been following the Cities Skylines 2 redemption arc. Likewise, our eyes are on the launch of Frostpunk 2 and stalking horse rival Endzone 2 - and don't get us started on Civilization 7. But New Cycle deserves a lot more attention. With a gorgeous steampunk aesthetic, complex (but not convoluted) building and production chains, a survivalist narrative, and incredibly slick road building tools, this is the apocalypse city building game that everyone should be playing right now, especially since it's just gotten a big update and is now available cheaper than ever.
