  2. PlayStation’s annual Days of Play ***** will reportedly return next week. The promotion, which the platform holder has been running for a handful of years, usually features discounts on PlayStation hardware, software and services. Notably, on several occasions it has featured some of the biggest discounts on PlayStation Plus subscriptions, such as 30% in 2020 and 25% off last year. Read More... 3. The CEO of Arrowhead, Johan Pilestedt, has been a shining beacon for Helldivers 2 since its release. He always engages with players, collects feedback, and acts on it. From now on, he’ll be able to do all that even more, as he’s switching roles within the studio. On May 22, Pilestedt announced he’s decided to step down from his position, and Shams Jorjani will be taking over as the new CEO. “We go way back and I wouldn’t trust the business in any other hands than his,” Johan wrote about Jorjani, who previously was chief business development officer at Paradox Interactive. Recognized for his in-game mastery, numerous contributions to Riot’s esport, and for inspiring millions globally, the choice of the first League inductee wasn’t really going to fall to anyone else but the Unkillable ****** King. 5. Pocketpair has finally addressed a longstanding texture bug in Palworld’s Xbox version that caused players to fall through the map—but a lot of similarly annoying issues are still yet to be taken care of. In a tweet sent out on May 21, Pocketpair announced the contents of a minor Palworld patch targeting the Xbox platform. It’s just a singular bug fix: You will no longer fall through the desert city while exploring it, so no more losing your hard work for a mistake you didn’t make. Apparently, the bug was being caused by “the world not loading in time.” View the full article
  6. Starstruck Vagabond, developed by Yahtzee Croshaw and published by Second Wind, is one of the most addictive job simulators I've played in years. The job itself - a space trucker tasked with delivering cargo from one star system to another - is only the background element of a much larger story, but the entertainment it provides and opportunities it unlocks work both to move the story along and to let players fully immerse themselves in the world on display. It's a life simulator inspired by games like Stardew Valley as much as it is an adventure on par with Croshaw's literary "Will _____ The Galaxy For _____" trilogy, and I've stayed up until 2AM by accident more than once while playing it. 7. Despite their apparent importance to the story being told in Elden Rings Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, Messmer is most likely not the toughest boss in the additional content in fact, he may not even be the final encounter. Known as Messmer the Impaler, the opponent is being heavily featured as the big antagonist in the DLC. Messmer is featured in the key art for the expansion and is even being portrayed in a statue that comes in the Collectors Edition bundle with the release of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Messmer is known to be a tyrant. View the full article

  9. Go ahead, put as many Goombas as you want here. | Screenshot: YouTube Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker series of games lets you create your own sidescrolling platformer levels using sprites and 3D objects from several entries in the franchise. It’s created a deeply devoted fan base, but it’s only ever let you make sidescrolling levels. Now, a pair of fans have changed that with Mario Builder 64, a new way to make and play your own Super Mario 64 levels — and do so on Nintendo 64 hardware. It’s technically a ROM hack, but the term doesn’t really capture what this is. The developers, Arthurtilly and rovertronic, describe it as “a toolbox letting you fulfill all of your SM64 dreams.” Just like the Super Mario Maker series, it lets you create your own levels using a special creator interface that borrows a lot... 11. The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke is looking ahead to future cast members, and he's certainly interested in adding Supernatural star Jared Padalecki for at least one episode. When you think of Jensen Ackles, you almost definitely will think about his former Supernatural costar Jared Padalecki. They were on that show for so long together, it's hard not to, and seemingly Kripke thinks similarly. The Boys showrunner recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his hopes to bring Padalecki on board in some capacity, telling the outlet that "Texts have been sent." He went to say the he feels "like it would be a bummer to not have Jared on the show one way or another at this point, even if it's just the one-episode thing. He's been ********* Walker, but with that show wrapping up, maybe he'll have some time to come in and play with us. I would love it. We have definitely talked about it." That quote from Kripke apparently came a few days before news emerged about the Padalecki-led show Walker having been cancelled. With that cancellation, as Kripke noted, Padalecki will have a bit more time on his hands, and quite conveniently, Amazon renewed The Boys for a fifth season just last week. That renewal has come a little early, actually, as season 4 of the popular Prime Video series isn't set to debut on the service until June 13, an entire month away, but when it does arrive it'll do so with three whole episodes before switching to a weekly release. 12. Since Helldivers 2 took the world by storm, Johan Pilestedt has become a household name, with the Arrowhead CEO's hands-on nature in terms of sharing updates on the game and openly interacting with its players having endeared him to a lot of Super Earth soldiers. Now, Pilestedt's chosen to step down from being a CEO, staying on at the studio in a capacity that's aimed to allow him to focus more heavily on the creative side of developing the game. Yup, one of the very few CEOs you've ever been able to find responding to posts in a Reddit community - without coming off like either an annoying ******* or that Steve Buscemi 'how do you do, fellow kids' meme - is gonna be getting to do more of what he seems to love most, working on Helldivers. Plus, given that the studio's looking to spend more time getting the likes of updates and patches for the game just right, after some recent tweaks earned a bit of ire, this move seems like another positive step in helping Arrowhead be the best it can be. So, what's gone down? Well, as reported by [Hidden Content], Arrowhead has named Shams Jorjani as its new CEO, with Pilestedt opting to give up that position, while retaining his roles as Arrowhead's chief creative officer and chairman. 16. Arrowhead’s chief creative officer Johan Pilestedt has said he wants the studio to ascend to Blizzard or From Software status while remaining independent. The company’s former CEO, who has now stepped aside to focus on making games, told [Hidden Content]: “We pride ourself on being an independent studio. “We have to see what the future holds, but there’s nothing in the plans where we want to be acquired by somebody,” he said. “I want to see how high we can fly. 17. Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has a new CEO after its previous boss stepped down to take on a new role focused on the studio’s games and community. After shifting an incredible 12 million copies in 12 weeks across PC and PlayStation 5, Helldivers 2 is the fastest-selling PlayStation game of all time ahead of even **** of War Ragnarok. Now, Johan Pilestedt, who was Arrowhead CEO, becomes Chief Creative Officer. In a tweet, Pilestedt said this means he will get to focus more on the studio’s games as well as its community. Jorjani now takes on the day-to-day running of the business. In a tweet, Jorjani said he was “humbled and excited to get to work with such talented nerds (again!).” Pilestedt ******** Arrowhead chairman amid the reshuffle. A bit of news! I'm joining the amazing team at @ArrowheadGS as CEO! Humbled and excited to get to work with such talented nerds (again!). [Hidden Content] — Shams Jorjani (@ShamsJorjani) May 22, 2024 The shakeup at the top of Arrowhead comes after a particularly difficult time for the developer, which butted heads with Helldivers 2 publisher and IP owner Sony over the PSN account requirement backlash. Sony eventually reversed its decision, but the game ******** unavailable in countries where PSN is not live. Arrowhead has also indicated it wants to spend more time focusing on things like patches and ******* balance after community complaints around nerfs and low impact Premium Warbonds. Just this week, Arrowhead said it was pumping out balance patches too fast, and wanted to slow the live service down a bit. In a subsequent tweet, Pilestedt explained his decision to step down as CEO further: “Not nearly done. But I care more about ******* balance than QBRs [Quarterly Business Reviews].” "I care more about ******* balance than QBRs. Helldivers 2 is an astonishing success story for Arrowhead and PlayStation, and it seems likely the live service aspect of the game will continue to develop over many years. 25. A new Meta Quest 3 lite is reportedly on the way, and this new ***** gives us our first look at what to expect. The idea of a new, cheaper Quest headset is nothing new, but this is the first time we've seen specs listed, and it looks like more of a Quest 2 replacement than a Quest 3 competitor. As the best VR headset currently available, the Meta Quest 3 sets a high bar for standalone quality. Ultimately, though, Meta now appears to be trying to avoid embroiling itself in an awkward battle where a cheaper headset potentially threatens the Quest 3.
