  1. A creative Destiny 2 player has come up with a powerful new banana-themed costume for their Titan Guardian. The costume is another of many novel and inventive Destiny 2 customized costumes, which range from accurate pop-cultural references to irreverent evocations of healthy fruit. View the full article
  2. The Talisman slot in Elden Ring is a highly competitive field with many different options to fill. These Talismans can often make-or-break the build, providing upwards of 50 percent damage or damage reduction depending on your choices of jewelry. Let’s touch on 10 Elden Ring Talisman options that are consistently useful for multiple builds—providing a baseline and foundation for more specific options or allowing builds to exist in the first place. 3. A new questline introduced by Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree proves that one of the base game's endings is even worse than it seems. Elden Ring's endings are, on the whole, pretty ambiguous. While it's easy enough to tell which is Elden Ring's worst ending, even those that seem positive on the surface hide negative implications beneath, and vice versa. Players don't really find out what happened to the Lands Between after the events of base Elden Ring's story; they only learn where the Tarnished ended up, and are left to imagine the rest. 4. Starry Studio has fully outlined its refund plan for players purchasing multiple of the same Once Human cosmetics, and urges you not to buy items for numerous characters right now. As one of the biggest Steam successes of 2024, the new apocalyptic survival sandbox sits alongside The First Descendant and Palworld with nearly 200,000 concurrents already, but that doesn't mean there aren't growing pains. Purchased cosmetics aren't currently account-wide and only work for individual characters, but Starry Studio explains how this will change. Read the rest of the story... 5. One Starfield fan has recently taken to social media to praise Bethesda for improving the RPG's stealth gameplay, substantiating that observation with some new footage from the game. The brief clip helps illustrate how Starfield's stealth mechanics have been refined since its release. View the full article
  6. Some of Baldur's Gate 3's boss fights can actually be pretty tough, but even in the most challenging scenarios, there are usually one or two ways to turn the situation to the party's advantage. The turn-based combat system and complex environmental arenas add a lot of flexibility to encounters, making fights much more than just a numbers game. A healthy dose of randomness can still swing things against even the most prepared party, but with a bit of luck, it's usually possible to push through. View the full article
  7. A Destiny 2 player has shown off their impressive Guardian fashion, after turning their main character into a near-perfect recreation of Mass Effect's Salarian scientist, Mordin Solus. This Destiny 2 Guardian looks eerily like the Mass Effect fan favorite, drawing praise from the game's fashion community online. View the full article
  8. If you’re not a strong swimmer, knowing the “Shallowest of the Great Lakes,” might be a good way to save yourself, and also save time with the July 14 NYT Mini Crossword. You’ve got lakes, and you’ve got Great Lakes—and the name does exactly what it says on the tin. The NYT July 14 Crossword honors the shallowest of the lakes with its very own clue. 9. In Elden Ring, the Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion brought forth many new weapons for the Tarnished to experiment with. One of these new weapons, the Stone-Sheathed Sword, can be converted into a new Legendary armament: the Sword of Light or the Sword of Darkness. The Sword of Light will be the focus of this build guide, but the setup will generally work the same with the Sword of Darkness, as they are both Strength/****** weapons with similar effects. 10. Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian has shared the origins of that viral bear **** scene that helped put the already popular RPG on everyone's radar. I'll admit, while I had been aware of Baldur's Gate 3 for a good while, for the most part I wasn't all that interested in it. Then, all of a sudden, I see people talking about this game where you can have **** with one of the game's characters while they're transformed into a bear. That particular moment really helped propel Baldur's Gate 3 to its monumental success (though I imagine it still would have done well without it), and really showed how wild and weird things can get. Now, while at Brighton's Develop conference earlier this week speaking to Eurogamer, former Larian writer Baudelaire Welch has shared just how that scene came to be, and how it wasn't originally going to be that big of a thing. When Welch joined Larian in 2020, partway through development, a lot of work had already been done, including for companion romances, but certain characters like Halsin weren't romanceable just yet. "I don't think there were specific plans for him to be a love interest," Welch explained. At the time, the community surrounding the game evidently wanted "daddy Halsin," which Welch knew because they were included in that community. Larian took note of that, and decided to explore what that looked like. Read more View the full article

Their impressive feat of engineering then made the rounds on social media, impressing numerous fans and underlining the immense versatility of Starfield's shipbuilding mechanics. 12. The First Descendant hasn't exactly had the smoothest of starts, but that hasn't stopped it from racking up 10 million players in seven days. It's been very up and down for The First Descendant since it launched earlier this month. In a strong start, it gave Elden Ring a run for its money on the Steam charts, an impressive feat given the recent release of Shadow of the Erdtree. Things kind of went downhill from there though, with many players deriding the game's monetisation systems, and accusations coming out that the game had lifted barely-altered Destiny 2 icons. The game is currently sitting at a "Mixed" rating on Steam, but even with all of those problems, that hasn't actually stopped people playing the game. According to the game's official Twitter account, the game reached 10 million players "in just 7 days!" "Thank you all for your tremendous support and love," the post continues. "It means everything to us. We will do our best to bring you great experiences. Can't wait to continue this journey together!" It's kind of odd phrasing, as it says it hit 10 million players in seven days, but doesn't say which seven - the tweet was posted July 12, but the game was released on July 2, which, if my maths is correct, is 10 days. This really isn't worth getting hung up on, but it does tickle me a bit at the very least. Read more View the full article
  13. Cryptocurrency is still as valuable as ever and there are an inordinate amount of them in the world, but one special cryptocurrency helps solve the “Crypto lead-in to coin” clue in the July 14 Mini Crossword. I still don’t truly understand how cryptocurrency works or how it continues to be such a dominant and viable economic resource, but it is. So much so its presence finds its way into the NYT Mini Crossword word game as a clue—but a clue we have the answer to. View the full article
  14. One Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree player has recently managed to beat the DLC without collecting a single map fragment. 15. If you've been meaning to pick up Phasmophobia, you might want to do so soon, as the price is going up later this year. While you don't hear about it as much these days, Phasmophobia is still going relatively strong. It's received consistent updates over the years, though the one thing that many have been waiting on is a console release. Well, good news for those of you who have been waiting for that time, as in a recent Steam post, developer Kinetic Games finally confirmed that the console release is coming this year. "We're thrilled to announce that the console update will be released this year, during our in-game Halloween Event," Kinetic Games wrote. "Once launched, all players will have access to cross-play, allowing you to play the newest version of the game with everyone, including those using VR on any platform." The team also explained that it is "collaborating with Unity to work on the console release, as well as general performance optimisations for both console and PC" which will "ensure that the console update runs optimally and to the high standards that we set for the game. Working with them means that we can work alongside them on new content for all platforms, allowing faster development of new updates. Future updates for the game will be released on all platforms simultaneously to ensure that cross-play is always available." Read more View the full article
  16. America has a lot of airports, so it can be difficult trying to know all of them, and the “Windy City airport” is a tough one in the July 14 Crossword if you don’t know. The NYT Mini Crossword does its best to diversify its clues. Now and again though, it makes sense to tap into a clue closer to home. The “Windy City airport” clue is a prime example of this, and I have the answer you’re waiting for. View the full article
  17. Driver, the classic driving game series from Ubisoft, was supposed to be getting a live-action TV series, but it appears to have been scrapped. I have very limited experience with the Driver series, the only one I've played is San Francisco, the most recent and currently last entry, though that one was seemingly a bit of an outlier with its mechanic that let you teleport into any car. To be honest, unless you were to adapt that specific game, I'm not sure why you'd want to adapt a game series that's mostly just about doing cool car chases, but in 2021 Ubisoft announced that a TV show based on the games was on the way. In a new report from Game File, however, Ubisoft appears to have quietly canned the show. This isn't much of a surprise, there's been no word on it since it was announced, and again, how much appeal is there for a show based on a franchise that hasn't had a new game in over a decade? Alongside that, Binge, the streaming service targeted at gamers (yes, really) that was meant to produce the show has also been shut down, so, sorry to the gamers that feel like streamers aren't catering to them enough? I guess? Whoever thought that was a good idea probably also liked Quibi. Read more View the full article
  18. The First Descendant fanbase is buzzing this weekend after the release of Hotfix 1.0.2 on July 11. From the addition of matchmaking to endgame activities to triple drop rates and the removal of those pesky immunity spheres, many are calling the update a “huge win.” The update arrived last Thursday with many flocking to the game over the weekend after a few server troubles to close out the week. Once in-game, players hit the ground running and have been blown away by the changes, as well as Nexon’s commitment to improving The First Descendant. “Devs are listening which is a pleasant surprise, and a very fast turnaround with the game only being out for nine days,” one player said on Reddit. 21. In Destiny 2, looking the part is half the battle. From unique armor ornaments to snazzy emblems, your guardian’s outfit and drip are essential.
