  1. As popular as they might be, Warner Bros. has seemingly threatened to "********" YouTuber ToastedShoes' channel over his Mortal Kombat 1 mod videos. While they can obviously get you in a bit of trouble, mods for fighting games are actually pretty popular, primarily because it's just plain old funny to watch the most random of people or characters duke it out (take this Mortal Kombat 1 Kendrick vs Drake mod, for example). However, YouTuber ToastedShoes has found himself in that aforementioned trouble, claiming that Warner Bros. is "threatening to ********" his YouTube channel, leaving him uncertain in what he needs to do. ToastedShoes is known for a big range of popular modding videos, with Mortal Kombat 1 being amongst so of his most popular. "This morning I received an IP Infringement Notification directly from Warner Brothers stating that the Mortal Kombat mods in my content 'infringe' on their intellectual property rights," ToastedShoes wrote on Twitter earlier this week. "I've been requested to delete all Mortal Kombat 1 videos from my channel or else they will issue copyright strikes and essentially delete my channel in its entirety. Read more View the full article
  2. A new Genshin Impact ***** is hinting at the ******* type and signature ******* for upcoming unconfirmed character Emilie, currently rumored to be releasing during Version 4.8. While the HoYoverse RPG often eases off its new character releases during the second half of its regional cycles, Fontaine has shown no signs of slowing down. Each new version has consistently added new characters to the game, with Version 4.7 set to welcome three new characters in Clorinde, Sigewinne, and Sethos. Now, Version 4.8 is reportedly looking to have a featured character of its own. View the full article

  4. Larian Studios isn't making the next Baldur's Gate, but the third game's narrative director doesn't care what it's like, as long as it's not made just for profit. Look, we all know that for rights holders, executives, and the like, sequels and follow-ups to established IP are really just money makers. And with how well Baldur's Gate 3 has done since its 1.0 release last year, it's an entirely safe bet that someone will be making a sequel. That someone just won't be Larian, as it said as much earlier this year, even if it was something the studio was on board with once upon a time. Wizards of the Coast is currently looking into potential partners for future Baldur's Gate entries, though nothing is set in stone just yet, so you'll have to wait a little while longer. But in a recent interview with GamesRadar, narrative director Adam Smith shared his thoughts on a potential sequel. Smith explained that he doesn't really care about what a sequel might look like, for him the priority is that whoever makes it, they're making it for the sake of passion rather than purely financial reasons. "I don't mean that in a harsh way," he said. "What I would want is for somebody to do it because they wanted to do it, not because somebody said 'that would hit our earnings next quarter.'" 5. Would you rather have a confident instalock duelist on your VALORANT team or someone who fills in the role but knows the ins and outs of it? Shopify Rebellion’s Melanie “meL” Capone believes being a duelist is more about confidence than technicality. “Definitely a confidence-based role…” meL told Dot Esports during an interview at the Red Bull Instalock, a VALORANT tournament featuring a quirky “three instalock duelist” format that took place in April. 6. One Cyberpunk 2077 mystery is still baffling players four years after launch, and Phantom Liberty seems to have made it even more complicated. Originally released in 2020 in a wildly different form, the game has undergone a lot of changes, not least of which were part of Cyberpunks 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty DLC. Besides adding tons of new content, tweaking character progression, and fixing bugs, these major post-launch releases changed some of the finer details of how the story works. View the full article

  10. Helldivers 2 still has a problem with players getting kicked out of missions by griefers, but Arrowhead has at least promised a solution is on the way. In this day and age, it's pretty necessary to allow lobby leaders in games to kick players out of a squad if they're causing trouble. After all, if someone is just taking the mick, harassing other players, or anything similar, it can really ruin the experience of playing. It could especially cause problems in a game like Helldivers 2 which features friendly ***** - just imagine if players could come in and ***** other players without consequences. But, Helldivers 2 actually has a different problem that comes from the ability to kick other players out - one that sees lobby leaders kicking others out right before a mission ends so they can't benefit from the results. Right now, there's no solution to this problem, but as spotted by [Hidden Content], over in the official Helldivers 2 Discord, a spark of hope has at least been offered. After one member of the server asked if players could "keep 50 percent of the samples collected if [they] get kicked by an ********* lobby leader when the dropship has been called" community manager Twinbeard shared that Arrowhead is "actually working on a solution to mitigate problems with, well, 'getting kicked by an ********* lobby leader' as someone once eloquently put it. No ETA on that, but it's coming." Read more View the full article
  11. Image: Samar Haddad / The Verge From the earliest pixelated games to the outrageously realistic experiences of today, flight simulators have always been pushing the boundaries of what can be visually recreated in a video game. It’s one thing to make space look good; it’s another thing entirely to faithfully recreate the cockpit of a 747 and the whole world around which it might fly. On this episode of The Vergecast, the fourth and final installment of our series on the five senses of video games, we asked Polygon’s Charlie Hall to help us make sense of the current state of the art in flight simulation. Hall, who once spent more than four months in VR mapping the edge of the Milky Way galaxy in Elite: Dangerous, has more experience in a virtual cockpit than most. We... 14. The *********'s Creed series has had no shortage of memorable protagonists, but there are definitely some who made a better impression than others. With frequent game releases since 2007 that touch on a wide range of historical settings and stories, *********'s Creed has covered a lot of ground. Different cultural and narrative contexts offer a lot of variety in protagonist characterization, although there's a consistency in generally striving to be cool. View the full article

  16. Fortnite has long been easily playable on iOS, but Epic has confirmed it'll finally be returning to Apple devices in the second half of 2025. A few years ago, Apple removed Fornite from the App Store due to Epic letting users buy the battle royale's in-game currency elsewhere, circumnavigating the iPhone maker's 30% cut of all transactions. This then led to a big ole lawsuit between the pair, and currently the game is still not available on iOS. However, next year, that'll all change, as the official Fortnite Twitter account shared that both the game and the Epic Games Store will be coming to iOS in the *** in the second half of 2025. How is this possible? Well, it's all thanks to the ***'s Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers act. This particular act, as described on the *** government's own website, could "give consumers the room to freely choose the services they use, or stop companies from withholding information consumers need to make good decisions" as well as giving regulators "powers to intervene and direct a firm to change its behaviour to boost competition – whether that is to benefit people using smartphones or businesses dependent on cloud services." 21. If you have been struggling with certain elements of your collection in Wuthering Waves, it might be due to how hidden some goodies—like chests—are. Thankfully, there is an item you can get fairly early on that will tell you exactly where to look—and better yet, it is reusable. You may have a few empty slots in your Utility menu as you progress through the early section of Wuthering Waves. But you can fill one of them with an item called the Lootmapper, which acts as a reconnaissance drone when activated—highlighting a portion of your map to show exactly where hidden chests are located.
