  2. This week is the week of Summer Game Fest 2024. Ah, SGF! The Geoffers, as they call it down Los Angeles way. The Not-E3s. The Midsomer Keighleys. Jumping G.K's Game-a-Palooza. The AAAArghs. The Second Fall Of Babel. Trailarmageddon. The Sparkling Stink. SGF is sort of already in motion - last week, Sony kicked off the proceedings with their latest State of Play showcase, but you can expect the majority of new videogame announcements from Friday 7th June with the Summer Game Fest 2024 Opening Showcase, a two-hour event which starts at 10pm ***, 5pm ET and 2pm PT. I'll be out there covering the event in LA from Thursday to Monday while the remainder of Rock Paper Shotgun hold the fort on London time. Read more View the full article

  4. Attention, all ***** Divers. Your hard work on Meridia has paid off in a big way. The Terminid Threat in Helldivers 2 took a major hit when the entire planet got sucked into a wormhole. Many ***** Divers were evacuated to Super Earth, leaving players wondering what happened. After completing the Major Order “Operation: Enduring Peace” in Helldivers 2 on June 2, citizens of Super Earth were treated to a forced evacuation of the planet. Upon returning to their Galactic War Hub, an important message from Super Earth HQ played for them. The planet was sucked into a ****** *****, “drawing in every Terminid spore within several billion kilometers.” The planet is no longer accessible to ***** onto, marking it the first planet to be demolished. You can still visit the ****** ***** where Meridia used to be, but now the Galactic War Table issues a “Retreat Order.” Finding a mission while orbiting the ****** ***** simply brings you to a neighboring planet, such as Oshaune. 7. The Asus ROG Harpe ACE Extreme is Asus' latest attempt to really make a name for itself in the gaming mouse market, and it certainly packs in some impressive features that should ensure it's an attempt that succeeds. Made entirely from carbon fiber, Asus' new best wireless gaming mouse contender is astonishingly light at just 47g and includes the latest must-have high-end features such as optional 8KHz wireless polling via a separate dongle and a ludicrous 42,000 DPI sensor. 8. Boulies has been around since 2015, but it's only in the last few years that the brand has become well-known for its ergonomic seating options. Boulies makes chairs for gamers and office *****, and sits within the middle range of the market - nowhere near as expensive as Herman Miller, for example, but far higher quality than budget chairs on Amazon. I've previously tried and tested the Boulies Master Series chair, which safely made its way into the best gaming chairs guide down to sheer comfort and quality of materials. But the Boulies NUBI Series is a more subtle, foam-padded option for people who mainly work from home. It's stylish, modern, and designed to offer ergonomic support like the best office chairs from FlexiSpot. But does it do enough to warrant a space in your home? Find out what I loved and didn't about the Boulies NUBI Series chair. Read the rest of the story... 9. Genshin Impact has revealed the full list of characters that will be featured on the Event Banners in the first half of Version 4.7, and some 4-Stars are still conspicuously missing. Though Version 4.7 is introducing three new characters to Genshin Impact, it will also feature a re-run of two important 5-Stars. Both Alhaitham and Furina play a notable role in the current meta, with the former considered one of the best Hyperbloom units in the entire game. Alhaitham is expected to join Clorinde on the Event Banners in the first half, followed by Furina and Sigewinne in the second half of Version 4.7. View the full article

  11. Asus has just unveiled the Asus ROG Azoth Extreme gaming keyboard, a high-end board machined almost entirely from solid aluminium, except for the bits that are carbon fiber! It also includes an OLED display and a clever adjustable gasket mount to quickly switch up the typing feel. The new contender for our best gaming keyboard guide is a no-holds-barred attempt by Asus to cement a status as a premium gaming peripheral maker, having previously created some solid by not always spectacular products in this area. 12. If your XDefiant matches are full of ******* players who love to one-shot everyone and squeeze the fun out of the game, you’re in luck because things are about to change. Ubisoft is making some heavy nerfs to the long-range weapons to offer counter-play. In an X (formerly Twitter) post on May 29, Mark Rubin, executive producer of XDefiant said, “Right now we are adding flinch, so if you are taking hits, you can’t just turn, point, click, and delete people,” while also adding that nerfs should coming in a later patch. 13. Despite it being tough as nails prior to a quick patch, Helldivers 2 players have successfully completed the game's latest Major Order - the Terminid Supercolony on Meridia, as well as Meridia itself, is no more. While that experimetal Dark Fluid did end up creating a pretty suspicious ****** ***** in the process, it seems Arrowhead might now be trying to lull folks into a false sense of security before potentially deploying their next big foe. If you're out of the loop, the involvement of Dark Fluid in this MO has been fuelling a lot of speculation that it could mark the point when The Illuminate - one of the alien races from the first Helldivers - could make their grand entrance into the Galactic War. That still looks like it could happen, but it hasn't gone down as quickly as some had theorised. First of all, the good news. "Helldivers, thanks to your valiant efforts the Terminid Supercolony on Meridia has been eradicated," Arrowhead tweeted last night in commemoration of operation "Enduring Peace" ending successfully. 14. Microsoft's summer Xbox presentation is soon upon us, and the Steam backend is pointing towards a big Starfield update. It's June, which means it's Christmas for gamers, if your Christmas is essentially unwrapping a bunch of cut out ads from the newspaper showing a thing you really want, but it's not actually the thing you want because it's not out. There's Summer Game Fest on Friday, a Nintendo Direct is surely set to be announced soon, and this Sunday will see the latest Xbox showcase, which promises to immediately follow-up with a Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 dedicated presentation. And as spotted by Reddit user JarusinTheStars on the official Starfield subreddit (thanks, TheGamer), there have been quite a few updates on the Bethesda game's backend (via SteamDB), suggesting a big update could be on the way. "It's pointless trying to decipher the changelogs on Steamdb, but one thing is certain from experience: when there are a lot of changes, something big is coming," JarusinTheStars wrote in their Reddit post. " And over the past week (and more generally since May 1st), there have been more changes than ever since launch, sometimes more than 10 per day. For example, there were around 50-60 changes between the February and March updates. And around 100 between the March and May updates. We've almost surpassed that figure in less than a month." 16. A League of Legends tournament in the Philippines has been marred in controversy after a frontrunning team was disqualified immediately after a match began due to a player breaking a rule regarding emote use. The problem is, they didn’t even emote in the first place—the game did. During a League of Legends tournament held by ********* streamer Suzzysaur, the academy team for West Point Esports was disqualified due to jungler Joshua “Devoured” Escucharo’s unintentional first-blood emote because, according to the tournament rules, the use of emotes would result in an instant ban. However, Devoured didn’t even manually emote, as the champion who lands first blood automatically emotes after scoring the first ***** in the game. View the full article

  18. If you’ve ever found yourself lured by Ahri’s pink-******** spells, mistaking them for a charm only to realize it was a normal Q ability and you’ve just wasted your Flash, rest assured—you’re not the only one. League of Legends‘ visual clarity is an ongoing hotly debated issue, with numerous champion cosmetics causing gameplay clarity issues, resulting in confusion and ambiguous interactions. Players shared their frustrations in a June 2 Reddit post and extensively discussed the severity of this problem. “I still don’t know why Storm Dragon Aurelion Sol has [a] blue ultimate even for the enemies,” one player said. “I get baited by the blue indicator for his ultimate even when he is on the ****** team.” View the full article
  19. AMD has just unveiled its latest lineup of CPUs and has surprised everyone with a completely new naming scheme for some of the chips too. Using the much-anticipated new Zen 5 architecture, AMD has unveiled the new AMD Ryzen 9000 Series CPUs for desktop and AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series CPUs for laptops. We've long been anticipating that these new AMD Zen 5 desktop chips will be likely contenders for a top spot on our best gaming CPU guide but it's of course no guarantee until we test them. However, with a 16% improvement in instructions per clock (IPC), AMD has delivered a decent jump up in raw speed, which should translate to faster gaming performance. Read the rest of the story... 20. AMD has just unveiled two more brand new gaming CPUs for its now ancient AM4 motherboard range, enabling gamers to get a CPU upgrade on boards that are many years old. The new AMD Ryzen 9 5900 XT and AMD Ryzen 7 5800 XT CPUs, with the latter being the fastest-clocked AM4 processor in its class yet. While AMD's range of AM4 CPUs have long been supplanted on our list of the best gaming CPUs by its speedier AM5 CPUs on, these chips still represent a potential ideal upgrade for those users still holding on to PCs with older AMD motherboards. If you're still running a first or second generation Ryzen CPU and are finally tempted by an upgrade, these - along with other still available AM4 chips - could be just what you need.
