  2. The new Discord integration on PS5. | Image: Sony Sony is improving its Discord integration on the PS5 so that you can join voice calls directly from the console. First launched last year, Discord support on PS5 currently requires you to manually transfer a call to a console by using the Discord app on mobile or PC. Sony is now rolling out an update that integrates Discord directly into the PS5 dashboard so you can select the server or DM group you want to join. The update is rolling out gradually over the coming weeks, starting with PS5 owners in Japan and Asia followed by Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and then finally the US and Canada. You’ll need to update your PS5 to the latest system software to get this new Discord integration, and a PlayStation Network account... Continue reading… View the full article
  3. It's happening again! Marvel Studios has lost yet another director for its long-in-the-works Blade reboot, which still has Mahershala Ali attached to star. We'll be surprised if he's still around by the end of 2024 at this rate though. It was only a few months ago that Ali himself offered a promising update regarding the script status of the movie, as Logan and Blade Runner 2049's Michael Green was working on a new version of the story. In spite of the encouraging news and rumors of a definitive production start date being locked, the project is now facing yet another wave of rewrites, and director Yann Demange (Lovecraft Country) isn't sticking around any longer. The news arrived via The Wrap on June 12, confirming the filmmaker's exit as well as ****** Widow and The Fantastic Four scribe Eric Pearson taking over a new draft of the script. "According to an insider with knowledge, getting “Blade” right is much more important than getting the film out," adds The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez. Read more View the full article

  5. Right, so having been played at every sporting event known to man and put out some undeniably incredible thrash bangers back in the day, Metallica are now doing what everything that exists in our world must - pop up in Fortnite, via an update that launches today, June 13. To be fair, being in a mosh pit filled with folks in Fallout's T-60 power armour as James Hetfield and co belt out Enter Sandman loud enough to shatter your eardrums through your helmet sounds like a pretty good time. Just make sure you don't accidentally step on anyone's toes with your metal boots. As announced via a blog post, Fortnite Festival Season 4 will feature a bunch of Metallica-themed stuff to celebrate the fact they're performing in the mode on June 22 and 23. "Metallica: Fuel. *****. Fury" is the name of their set in the mode, with Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, and The Unforgiven looking like they'll be part of the initial tracklist. 6. Faker’s controversial Hall of Legends Ahri skin is now available in League of Legends. Some players have already undoubtedly cashed out on the expensive skin and spent their hard-earned money on repping Faker, but we doubt they have even had the chance to use it yet. Ahri’s ban rate in solo ****** has skyrocketed since the Faker bundle released. At the time of writing, the champion has a ban rate of up to 16 percent in some ranks. 9. It’s rare for an ability power carry to bring so much heat to the League of Legends **** lane, but that’s exactly what Brand has done in Patch 14.12. The spike in power is so high that players have begun begging Riot to make quick changes. Brand is one of those League champions that fewer and fewer people have been picking as their main champions because there’s cooler, flashier, and newer champions to play and spam from more recent seasons. He’s an enjoying quite the resurgence right now though; he’s already ticked up a nice 53.97 percent win rate across all ranks as an AP carry in Patch 14.12, according to stat page U.GG’s early numbers. 10. There’s a major advantage to Bungie’s Destiny franchise: Varying levels of content difficulty. If you want to jump in casually, you’re bound to have as much fun as the ********* crew smashing out Grandmaster Nightfalls or solo’ing dungeons. But, participating or not, all eyes turn to the launch day of a raid—World’s First. World’s First is a race in which Destiny 2 players across the globe team up in fireteams of six and attempt to clear the raid before all others. With no knowledge of each encounter’s mechanics or the many, many ways a fireteam can be wiped, becoming World’s First requires an intimate level of Destiny knowledge, a touch of puzzle-solving, and clear team communication. 12. Riot Games leadership may have been proud of its newest defense of the highly controversial $500 Faker bundle that’s stunned the League of Legends world, but their recent comments haven’t made things any better. In fact, League game director Pu Liu’s latest suggestions during a Q&A session at Summer Game Fest, where he declared the staggering price point was “justified” and pointed out the studio has to go to these lengths because most players and esports fans enjoy the Runeterra franchise “for zero dollars,” suggest Riot’s leadership team may not yet realize just how wrong they got this one. 17. Welcome to a Thursday thick with thoroughly great deals. PC gamers should check out the remnants of the Xbox Showcase ***** before they're all goneski. Console folk should look into some pretty awesome preorder prices for Astrobot, *********'s Creed Shadows, and more! In retro news, I'm celebrating the 12th birthday of Lollipop Chainsaw, a Suda51 cult-hit. Admittedly, it didn't garner much in the way of high scores, but I still recall it being the best game about a zombie-slaying cheerleader armed with a portable power tool and the disembodied head of her boyfriend... I've ever played. Had a whole buncha rock solid references to horror flicks and IRL musicians, too. Would yank the starter cord for another play of it again. 19. Asmongold has waded into the controversy around further transphobic statements made by fellow streamer NICKMERCS this week, adding to the turbulent online discussion by claiming the under-***** star’s views are “extremely common.” Twitch streamer Asmongold always reacts to different events in the streaming sphere, and in one of his recent streams in mid-June he played a clip of NICKMERCS where the streamer outright stated, “There is no such thing as trans people.” NICKMERCS has had a long history of making similar comments, which originally lost him a collaboration with Call Of Duty. Now, Asmongold is throwing his hat into the ring, and while it wasn’t exactly a defence of the Kick-based star, he did suggest things are not so clear cut. View the full article
