As the Elden Ring community grapples with Shadow of the Erdtree's intense difficulty, FromSoftware is throwing everyone a bone with the game's latest patch. DC is moving forward with its Green Lantern series at HBO, locking the first season in for eight episodes. There's a whole bunch of projects currently in the works at the James Gunn co-led DC Studios, one of which is a TV series based on the Green Lantern. We've known for a little while now that the series is to be penned by acclaimed comic book writer Tom King alongside Damon Lindelof, who's known for creating a whole bunch of popular series like Lost and Watchmen. Now, as reported by Variety, it's been announced that the show is finally being officially picked up at HBO. Notable here is that it was originally intended to be a Max Original, but there's been a shift at Warner Bros to move back towards the HBO Originals label and branding, even for its streaming shows. Also attached to the show as showrunner and executive producer is Chris Mundy, most recently a producer on True Detective: Night Country, and former showrunner of Ozark. "We are elated to be reuniting with both Chris Mundy and Damon Lindelof as they partner with Tom for this fresh take on DC's Green Lantern," CEO of HBO and Max content Casey Bloys said in a statement. Last Epoch developer Eleventh Hour has been quietly working on the game’s biggest update yet since it launched out of Steam Early Access back in February. In fact, it should allow players to tackle much of the first 50% of the DLC without doing as much exploration - great news for those who want to bash their heads against Messmer relatively early. This comes in the wake of a swarm of negative reviews and criticism directed at the DLC by some players, asserting it was too hard to be fun and difficult to really get into. Some have even created mods for the game that lower the impact of the Scadutree fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes in order to make it similar in difficulty to the base game. One of these was even dubbbed a 'journalist mode', despite the fact that, you know, a lot of journalists and guides writers beat the game un-patched prior to its release without being able to look online for assistance. With The Final Shape expansion, Destiny 2 switched from seasons to Episodes. The Episodes are supposed to be longer and more content-rich, but players are already unimpressed after three weeks. On the Destiny 2 weekly reset on June 25, we got to play the final story mission of the first Act of Echoes. The Episode is far from over, but you have to wait three weeks until it continues in the second Act, and nobody’s happy with that. “That’s kinda wild to go almost a month with no content, when they could have easily had the act lead into the next act with no wait in between,” a player wrote in a Reddit thread, highlighting there’s going to be nothing to do for the next few weeks. Elden Ring developer FromSoftware has released its first patch for the game following the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, bringing it up to Update 1.12.2. A blog post from Bandai Namco outlined the changes, which mainly involve a handful of balancing updates. Shadow Realm Blessings have been revised, affecting their ******* and damage negation curve scaling. The patch also addresses a PC bug where raytracing settings are automatically enabled if players have previously loaded save data from previous game versions. This can be addressed by visiting System, then Graphics Settings, then Raytracing Quality, and setting Raytracing to Off. FromSoftware made no mention of the bug affecting Steam Deck users that makes the game unplayable if left idle for more than five minutes, potentially leading to corrupted data. It did, unsurprisingly, note that more updates are on the way, however. "Other balance adjustments as well as bug fixes are also planned for a future patch," FromSoftware said. Shadow of the Erdtree, which arrived June 21, 2024, features bosses with which FromSoftware "really pushed the envelope" on what the player can withstand, director Hidetaka Miyazaki said ahead of its release. In fact, getting into the expansion even poses a challenge as players must defeat an optional boss. If your framerate is unstable, please check in the 'SYSTEM' > 'Graphics Settings' > 'Raytracing Quality' settings from the title menu or in-game menu to check if it has been unintentionally set to 'ON'. Original Fallout co-creator Tim Cain has discussed the idea of whether he'd be interested in potentially working on the series again, if he were asked to. The developer says his interest in any Fallout project he was pitched would mainly come down to one key element - "What's new about it?" If you're not aware, Cain has a YouTube channel where he regularly tells development stories from his lengthy career in the games industry - such as recently revealing his role in the events that led to the cancellation of Fallout Van Buren, Interplay's original Fallout 3. He also sometimes responds to questions asked by fans, which is what he was doing this time. In a video on his channel entitled 'Would I Work On Fallout Again?', Cain discussed exactly that, citing it as his channel's current "most frequently asked question".
