  1. From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki has said “there’s interest” in an Elden Ring adaptation. The fantasy RPG is set in a world called The Lands Between, which was created in collaboration with Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin. It sees players take on the role of one of the Tarnished, individuals whose ancestors were exiled from The Lands Between many years ago. But when the Elden Ring is shattered, they get the chance to return and conquer the land they were once banished from. Read More... View the full article
  2. Upgrade your Flask of Wondrous Physick with the Bloodsucking Cracked Tear—which you get only in Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC content. The Flask of Wondrous Physick has a great name and has even better intentions. Elden Ring‘s one-time-use-per-life potion enables your player to imbue a magical concoction and receive two huge stat-boosting benefits for a short while. View the full article
  3. With many people now back to working in offices, the “Zoom call button” clue in today’s New York Times Mini Crossword was surprisingly tricky. But it’s actually pretty simple. My mistake was thinking it was about the button on Zoom you use to start a call, not just any button on a Zoom call, which might be why you’re struggling too. You’re not looking for another name for the call button, but for a button that exists on Zoom calls and is four letters long. Here are some hints to help you figure it out. View the full article
  4. Today’s NYT Mini Crossword clue, “top of the top,” should have been easier I hadn’t been so focused on thinking it meant the top of something like a mountain. Words like peak or apex came to mind, but none of them fit. My ******** to find words even made me question the answers I was sure were correct. Luckily, after solving most of the board, the right answer made sense. If you’re still struggling, I have some hints to help you find the solution yourself. View the full article
  5. We're right in the middle of a heatwave over here in the ***, but that hasn't stopped MGM releasing the first trailer for the Christmas action flick Red One. Remember when they used to just make regular, nice, happy Christmas films? One where families come together even when times are tough, beating some kind of odds that are stacked against them? At this point I don't, because it seems like every Christmas film these days has to be some kind of spin on the genre. Where's the earnestness! There's certainly none to be found in the first trailer for Red One, which Amazon MGM Studios released yesterday. If you've managed to avoid hearing about the upcoming Christmas movie, it stars Chris Evans as the world's most infamous bounty hunter, as he's tasked by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Santa's right-hand man, to rescue good ole Saint Nick. You can check out the first trailer for the film above which looks… fine. I think I'm being a bit generous there, as the dialogue is hammy as ***** ("You can't trust this guy, he's on the list. Yes, that list") and the performances seem incredibly phoned in. But it's got J.K. Simmons in it as a buff Santa, so, I don't know, maybe there's something fun to be found there. Rounding out the cast are Lucy Liu (***** Bill), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Bonnie Hunt (Jumanji), Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones), Nick Kroll (Sausage Party), and Wesley Kimmel (The Mandolorian). On directorial duties is Jake Kasdan, who Johnson previously worked with on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and The Next Level. Read more View the full article
  6. Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is supposed to be hard. It's the pinnacle of FromSoftware's challenging design and employs an alternative scaling and leveling system to help make this work in an entirely new late-game area. Knowing that on its own doesn't make things easier, but FromSoftware hears our cries, and just buffed one key upgrade item to try and help us out. Read the rest of the story... 10. The Resident Evil franchise has never been more popular but fortunately for those fans who appreciate the historic value of the series, they can finally see where the saga began without needing to purchase a PlayStation One. The original Resident Evil trilogy may largely be seen as synonymous with Sony's first console but the survival horror games were ported to plenty of other devices in the months following the original release. The PC version was famous for including plenty of uncensored content but that version has been lost to time, limited to physical copies that are tough to find. View the full article

  15. If you're on PC, the best Resident Evil game of all time has also, until now, been one of the hardest to access and play. Capcom's survival horror series has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, courtesy of the RE2 Remake, the remake of Resident Evil 4, and rumors of RE9 now starting to swirl. But despite all these modern advancements, technical leaps, and bold reimaginings, the best Resident Evil ever made ******** the very first game from 1996, and now it's finally easy to get on PC, with more classics on the way. 18. The hot and cold, gender-bending shonen classic Ranma 1/2 is getting a brand new anime adaptation. It's been a good three decades since the original Ranma 1/2 anime finished airing, and none other than the very creator of the series Rumiko Takahashi announced yesterday that the series is getting treated to a new anime adaptation. While details are pretty scant on this new anime, it's seemingly going to be completely new, though whether that means it'll carry on the story of the original, or will start things over from the beginning isn't clear just yet. However, it's not too long until we'll find out more, as a livestream is being held on July 17 which will share more about the upcoming anime series. For those that are maybe a touch too young to even be aware of Ranma 1/2, the series follows martial artist Ranma Saotome, who accidentally gets cursed to transform into a girl whenever he's exposed to cold water, but he transforms back into a boy when hit with hot water. Think H2O: Just Add Water, but for gender. And I guess also for turning into pandas? As that's what Ranman's father turns into when hit with similar conditions. It's a comedy manga, if you hadn't guessed, where Ranma transforms back and forth depending on what hijinks he gets into. Read more View the full article

  21. Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC might have just gotten a bit of balancing designed to help make its earlier stages a bit less tough, but the difficulty hasn't stopped plenty of ER experts from blazing hrough it in less time than you can say 'I love me some Scadutree Fragments'. In fact, one of the streamers who's done just that is alrready taking on the task of trying to one shot a bunch of its bosses. Yep, forget beating the likes of the Divine ****** Dancing Lion with your brain, some people are already at the stage of asking whether they can hit all these big new baddies a single time and have them fall over like a house of cards. The streamer taking on this run is Bushy, and they've just kicked it off with a casual nine and half hour long bout of running through the Land of Shadow and trying to take down 11 of the DLC's bosses with one shot. Having teased that they might eventually try and do a run where they one shot "literally every boss in the game", the streamer kicked this one off from a save that'd seen them 100% the base game. 25. The original Resident Evil is now finally available on PC again thanks to a collaboration between Capcom and CD Projekt-owned storefront GOG. An announcement from the latter revealed the classic Resident Evil, not the remastered version, is now available on the store for $9.99. GOG also announced that Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil will join it sometime in 2024, and a $24.99 bundle is available for those who want all three games. Resident Evil originally arrived on PC in 1996 but didn't exist on any digital storefronts until now. Steam, which has the remastered version but not the original, is expected to get the classic version soon, however, as a listing for it was spotted on ********* rating website PEGI. "In ****** efforts with the original creators Capcom, we’re thrilled to announce the re-release of the original Resident Evil, the groundbreaking series that heralded the golden age of the survival horror genre," GOG said in the post. "This iconic classic is now available with all its original content intact, featuring quality of life improvements and enhanced compatibility for modern systems. As part of GOG’s ongoing effort to protect and preserve classic games, Resident Evil is now available on the DRM-free GOG store." The original Resident Evil is where the beloved franchise began, of course, but has been somewhat overlooked in recent years as Capcom favors developing new entries in the franchise as well as full remakes of older games. These began with Resident Evil 2, however, completely skipping the original, and have so far continued to include Resident Evil 3 and the fan-favorite Resident Evil 4. Capcom is reportedly working on remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica too, alongside a mainline ninth game. Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day.
