  1. A new Genshin Impact petition to improve representation in the game has now reached over 40 thousand signatures. The petition was created shortly after the reveal of the first three characters from Natlan, Kachina, Kinich, and Mualani in the teaser trailer shown at the end of the Version 4.8 livestream. However, the online petition gained even more traction following the reveal of several Natlan characters in Genshin Impact, which created a huge amount of backlash due to the lack of representation in its mostly white ensemble of characters in a region inspired by ******* and South America. 2. Who are the Concord characters? Concord is looking to shake up the hero shooter sub-genre in a big way, bringing with it a 16-strong roster of unique characters that we'll all get to know much better through its weekly storytelling. Having spent some time with the Concord beta, we've got the full lowdown on what each Freegunner does, as well as which ones are worth playing. As such, you'll need to think about the balance of your team composition when you lock in your desired Freegunner - you'll end up taking a **** L in the FPS game if you don't. If you already know how each roster member plays and just want our top picks for the best Concord characters then jump down to the bottom of this guide. 4. Bethesda's "next gen" update for Fallout 4 continues to cause problems. Released in April, two years after it was announced, the 14GB patch was impressive due to how little it actually changed, aside from breaking everyone's precious mods. The timing couldn't have been worse, either, coinciding as it did with the planned arrival of the gargantuan Fallout: London mod. The team had to then delay the mod's launch while it figured out how to fix what the update broke... Read more.View the full article

  6. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree considerably ramps up the difficulty of the base game. To stay alive, you might have to maintain a collection of consumables beyond your healing flasks. One of the most powerful consumable items is the Blessing of Marika. This is how you get it. Where to find the Blessing of Marika in Elden Ring The Blessing of Marika is a unique consumable introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree. Consuming this item heals all of your ailments and completely restores your health and FP. 8. Fallout London is easily the biggest casualty of Bethesda's Fallout 4 next-gen update. The DLC-sized mod promises to take us to a post-apocalyptic England, and we could be playing it right now if not for the unfortunate timing of Bethesda's patch that broke both mods and the base game. With Starfield Shattered Space, the Elder Scrolls 6, and even Fallout 5 an age away, Fallout London is the closest we can get to another Bethesda game right now. Sadly, though, not everyone who owns Fallout 4 will get to experience it. Read the rest of the story... 9. The team behind Baldur's Gate 3 had to collect so many awards that game development was negatively affected. Speaking to Edge, Baldur's Gate 3 director Swen Vincke said the number of awards received became "a real problem" as Larian had to send "rotating teams" of staff out to collect them. "It affects development. There's a lot of them," Vincke said. "This has been a real problem." Baldur's Gate 3 was the surprise hit of 2023, earning myriad game of the year awards including from the New York Video Game Critics Circle, The Game Awards, the Gayming Awards, the Game Developers Choice Awards, and more. It is surprisingly draining on the soul. Vincke insisted he was still appreciative of the awards, as "it's great that you have a moment of celebration" and Larian does "really appreciate it," but sending key members away to each award show seemingly left the development team fragmented. It "would be cool if everybody could agree to do it all at the same time," Vincke said. "It is surprisingly draining on the soul." This continued focus on Baldur's Gate 3 also stopped Larian from getting closure, he added "We've all been more emotional because we can't get closure, and you want to have closure at the end of a project." That being said, Larian has paid plenty of attention to Baldur's Gate 3 itself in the myriad updates released following launch, but perhaps Vincke is implying there wouldn't have been so many if the game wasn't so successful. The final major update is due in September 2024, when Larian releases official mod support for Baldur's Gate 3. After that, it's leaving behind the game, franchise, and Dungeons & Dragons altogether to create something new. In our 10/10 review of the game, IGN said: "With crunchy, tactical RPG combat, a memorable story with complex characters, highly polished cinematic presentation, and a world that always rewards exploration and creativity, Baldur's Gate 3 is the new high-water mark for CRPGs." Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article
  10. If you're in the market for a new pixel pusher to prepare for the upcoming game release season, we've found some brilliant graphics card deals that will power you through 2024 and beyond. These Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 and AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE cards have both dropped to new, low prices but only for a limited time. We originally ranked the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 as one of the best graphics cards but replaced it once the Super variant was released, as it offered better performance for the money. With this new deal dropping the RTX 4070 to just $499.99, however, there's never been a better time to upgrade. As for the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, this card still holds a place on our list as the best mid-range card. Read the rest of the story... 11. The release of the long-awaited Fallout: London mod is nearly upon us, though not everyone will have the chance to play it. As confirmed by GOG, the mod will only be available for players using its platform and Steam, as Epic Games does not support rolling back updates. GOG issued a statement to VG247 regarding Fallout: London‘s release, confirming the game wouldn’t be availble on Epic Games. The CD Projekt-owned storefront is set to distribute the mod, which will require players to revert their Fallout 4 copies to a patch preceding the latest next-gen update that notoriously broke many mods, including Fallout: London. VG247 reports that Fallout: London should work on the GOG version of the game, with a “downgrading option via a downgrading tool” or other method to be made available for Steam users. Epic Games users unfortunately won’t have a way to play the mod, as the platform doesn’t support update rollbacks. View the full article
  12. There is an incredible spell in Baldurs Gate 3 that has an unexpected use that players may simply not have thought about. The award-winning RPG by Larian Studios has a plethora of spells and abilities that come directly from Dungeons and Dragons fifth edition (5e). The way the developer adapted these skills into the turn-based RPG is one of the many reasons it was so acclaimed at launch the way spells can be used in clever ways offers players immense leeway when making choices in Baldurs Gate 3, which could affect the outcome of their campaign. 13. Sorry, ****** Bandicoot fans, it seems like a fifth game was in the works, but was cancelled somewhere along the line. It's been a bit of a weird time for everyone's favourite bandicoot in recent years. He had something of a revival back in 2017, when the ****** Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy brought the classic PS1 character back to the forefront, finding success with a new, young audience too. This later led to a remake of ****** Team Racing in 2019, and of course a year later there was Toys for Bob's sequel to the original trilogy, ****** Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. Since then, though, things have been a bit quieter. Last year did see the arrival of ****** Team Rumble, a live service game that was ultimately not very successful, its last content update arriving in March this year. But there's always been the question of whether there'll be a ****** 5 or not. And the answer, as it seemingly turns out, is that there was one in development - but not any more. This is according to Nicholas Kole, a character artist that worked on games like the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and notably, ****** Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. Sadly, the game Kole was working on up until recently, codenamed Project Dragon, was cancelled, and of course this led some fans to wonder if this was at all related to that purple dragon Spyro. Kole clarified that no, Project Dragon wasn't a new Spyro (later sharing art which revealed it to be a Minecraft-inspired fantasy game that honestly looks quite lovely). However, Kole did note in the tweet debunking it being a Spyro game that "some day folks will hear about the ****** 5 that never was and it’s gonna break hearts." Read more View the full article
  14. So I’ve just hopped on my motorbike, enjoying one of several pleasingly incongruent classical musical tracks that plays from the radio, on my way to tick tasks off a list in the top right corner of my screen by scavenging an abandoned hospital. It’s a great hospital, by the way. Spotlight-headed phantasma shamble about corridors reminiscent of The Division 2 or The Last Of Us’s naturalia. Striking, but also within easy reach of comparisons. And if Once Human was purely the collection of x from ys it very much appears to be, I’m not sure I’d have much positive to say about it. On the surface, what you're getting here is a 6/10 third-person shooter from ten years ago that gleefully spills thumbtacks along any simple paths to progress with live service obfuscation, propped up by a detached crafting and building economy that has you popping mined rocks and chopped wood in the oven then taking out freshly baked shotguns a few minutes later. Its systems run the gamut from numbly enjoyable to being a source of major psychic damage, and even the simple act of replacing your initial tier I rustic baseball cap means navigating several menus, currencies, and resources. 15. Space Cadet Pinball[/i] has never been so portable... or so tiny!"> Enlarge / Space Cadet Pinball has never been so portable... or so tiny! (credit: Turing Software / App Store) [/url] One month after PC emulator UTM was rejected from the iOS App Store, the developers have announced that a new "UTM SE" version is now available for free on the App Store. But the app's performance is severely hampered by Apple's restrictions on so-called "just-in-time" (JIT) compilation, limiting the app's suitability for effectively emulating many PC games. Built on the generic command-line emulation layer QEMU, the open-source UTM boasts support for "30+ processors," from x86 and PowerPC to RISC-V and ARM64. The App Store listing promises you can "run classic software and old-school games" through both a VGA graphics mode and text-based terminal. Don't expect a seamless, RetroArch-style path to playing Space Cadet Pinball on your iPhone, though. The UTM developers link to pre-configured settings downloads for versions of Windows going back to XP, alongside guides for getting those OSes up and running on iOS. But users will need to bring their own legitimate Windows installation ISO and go through the cumbersome process of installing the OS as well as a version of SPICE tools to help coordinate access through iOS (downloading pre-built, UTM-compatible Linux builds seems more straightforward). 17. While they're still busy with their latest big task, a recent order in Helldivers 2 has seen criticism of the Eagle 500KG ***** come back to the *****. Why? Well, because it's still ******** barely anything that doesn't lie within the epicentre of its blasts. Hey, if nothing else, the fact we've returned to talking about a stratagem that folks have been wanting changed for a good while now could mean that Arrowhead is finally gathering data to help do just that. Plus it means a limit to the amount of chatter that can be being had about the idea of splitting ****** forces in two and whether or not that's a tactic that'd make Sun Tzu tear his hair out. Arrowhead's been doing a lot of asking folks to ***** a bunch of things using different weapons lately, with a recent example being it asking players via a Personal Order to do in 200 foes using the 500KG *****. Obviously, you don't have to do every one of these orders, since all they do is provide some extra medals for your trouble, but the folks who have weren't best pleased to find that the device still doesn't do what they want it to. 18. Dota 2 has come a long way since its release in 2013. From featuring nothing more than hero abilities and their respective stats, the game’s formula has evolved to include Talent trees and other features, alongside the recently-added Innates and Facets—and players are now wondering what’s coming next. “What’s next in Dota‘s evolution,” asked a player in a July 14 Reddit thread, where they highlighted just how far we are from the game’s original design. Aghanim’s Scepter now works on essentially every hero in the game, Neutral items can give heroes game-changing abilities, and the Innate abilities and Facets introduced in Update 7.36 have completely reshaped the Dota experience. Dota 2 is no stranger to drastic changes, and its chief designer IceFrog is a lot more reckless than developers at Riot Games, for example, leading players in the thread to theorize what wild updates might come next. 20. The ******* you build in strategy games, the more divorced you become from the ground-level human drama. In the opening turns of Civilization 6, Age of Empires, and Cities Skylines 2, you feel a connection to every citizen - each decision has a measurable effect on a knowable, empathetic number of people. By the closing stages, however, you don't really care. More buildings. More units. More land. Combining the space-age style of Starfield with the automation and colony-sim mechanics of Factorio, The Crust is a new Steam strategy game that tries to remain identifiably human. 21. Nvidia has reportedly been working on a GeForce RTX 4070 card with even less VRAM than the original 12GB version. According to leaked images, a 10GB Nvidia RTX 4070 card was doing the rounds during the GPU's development, with quite a different spec from the 12GB card. Nvidia has come under a lot of flak for not supplying its powerful GPUs with enough VRAM, but if these pictures are legitimate, the RTX 4070 could have been even more unbalanced. In terms of the core spec, this leaked Nvidia RTX 4070 10GB card has quite a lot in common with the new RTX 4070 Super, which is the current top recommendation on our guide to the best graphics card. In particular, it looks as though the 10GB RTX 4070 was supplied with 7,168 CUDA cores, which is the same number as the new RTX 4070 Super card, while the original RTX 4070 only has 5,888 CUDA cores enabled. 23. Terminator Zero, the anime adaptation of the classic series, finally has its first trailer, and yes, Judgement Day is still coming. The upcoming animated take on Terminator has been in the works for a few years now, and earlier this year Netflix finally confirmed that the series will be releasing on August 29, which just so happens to be the date of Judgement Day in the original films. And now, Netflix has offered up a first trailer for Terminator Zero, which you can check out below. Not only that, but it's announced the show's cast, which includes Timothy Olyphant (Justified, The Mandalorian), Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka), Sonoya Mizuno (House of the Dragon, Ex Machina), André Holland (Moonlight), and Ann Dowd (Hereditary). It's looking like the series is in mostly good hands, as it is being handled by Production IG - the same studio behind the original Ghost in the Shell films. What better a studio than one that helped to create some of the best science fiction around? The whole show looks about as bleak as you would expect it to be, after all, this is the Terminator universe, it's not exactly known for being the happiest of worlds, but the animated look at least offers something fresh in that regard.
