  5. How do you end up working on The Witcher 4? Well, it turns out one member of the team ended up there due to some modding work they were doing in the free time they had around being a beetroot farmer. They're certainly not the only CD Projekt dev who got their industry start that way, either Pawel Sasko, who's currently the associate game director on Cyberpunk 2077's sequel, discussed how important bringing on board former modders has been for the developer in a recent interview with Flow Games. One particular case he highlighted was that of Witcher 4 senior quest designer Eero Varendi, who was orignally brought on board by CD Projekt after the company spotted one of the mods he'd made while off-duty from growing veggies. 6. Tower of Fantasy developer Hotta Studio has shown off its next title, Neverness to Everness, a wild looking game that mixes a range of your favourite games. Grand Theft Auto as a series is already pretty ridiculous, but Hotta Studio looks to be topping that with Neverness to Everness (say that five times fast), its newest upcoming open-world RPG that is clearly borrowing from Rockstar's line of games. Hotta revealed a trailer and first-look at gameplay earlier today, and it's looking like a promising new title. For one, there's the GTA elements. Unlike the fantasy worlds of Genshin Impact and Tower of Fantasy, Neverness to Everness has an urban setting, which much like GTA, you can drive around in, damaging all sorts of property as you do so. I couldn't tell from the trailer if you can just hop into any car you like a la GTA, but you can customise your vehicle at the very least. The game is set in the "supernatural city of NTE" and that looks like it'll be relevant for the driving sections too, as one portion of the trailer shows you chasing after a ghostly motorbike through the city. Weirdly, while wandering about on foot, these supernatural elements seem to be taking a leaf out of Control's book. At one point while exploring the city, the trailer shows everything taking a turn for the weird, its inhabitants disappearing, and a bunch of vending machines forming some kind of doorway. 9. The ouroboros is a snake eating its own tail: an infinite thing, a never ending cycle. While I do think this is a rather metal logo, there's an argument to be made that it's not current or trendy enough. With this in mind, I think the words "Call Of Duty" should represent the endless, unstoppable nature of existence. And with Call Of Duty: ****** Ops 6 revealing its multiplayer open beta and early access dates, we must further consume and be consumed by the circular march of COD. Let's dolphin ***** in, shall we. 11. This year's Amazon Prime Day ***** has no shortage of gaming PC deals, but it's all ending soon. We expect most of these deals to expire tonight at midnight PT. There's still time to save on a good selection of prebuilt gaming PCs from well-known brands like ASUS, MSI, CyberPowerPC, Skytech, IBUYPOWER, and more. For most PC gamers, buying a prebuilt gaming rig is far more attractive than it used to be. Years ago, it was inarguably cheaper to build your own gaming PC than to buy a boutique gaming rig. That's not the case anymore. The gaming PCs listed here are already built and packaged and will ship out quickly. They use off-the-shelf components so it should be easier to swap and upgrade components compared to buying from an OEM manufacturer like Dell or HP. TL;DR The Best Prime Day Gaming PC Deals The Best 4K Gaming PC Prime Day Deal If you're looking for a gaming PC that can handle any game at any resolution, then Dell has a stronger Prime Day deal than Amazon. Starting this week, Dell has dropped the price of the Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4080 SUPER gaming PC to only $2199.99 after a $600 instant discount. It's also equipped with the newest Intel Core i9 processor and a generous amount of DDR5 RAM. This rig will run any game you can throw at it, even at 4k resolution with high framerates and ray tracing enabled. The Best 1440p/4K Gaming PC Prime Day Deal The RTX 4070 SUPER is a big performance upgrade compared to the RTX 4060 Ti. It's the perfect card for 1440p gaming, where it's about 10%-15% faster than the RTX 4070 that it replaces. The RTX 4070 SUPER is also equipped with 12GB of VRAM, so it handles 4K gaming quite well without having to ***** out your budget. Check out our RTX 4070 SUPER review for more details. The Best 1080p/1440p Gaming PC Prime Day Deal The RTX 4060 Ti 8GB video card is an even better card for 1080p gaming, and it's powerful enough to handle 1440p gaming as well. You'll get a pretty substantial boost in performance over the RTX 4060, especially at higher resolutions. The Best 1080p Gaming PC Prime Day Deal The RTX 4060 is considerably more powerful than the previous generation RTX 3060 and almost nearly matches the RTX 3060 Ti. This is going to be the best current-gen GPU you'll find capable of smooth 1080p gaming in a system that costs (well) under $1,000. The RTX 4060 GPU also supports DLSS 3.0, which gives you a nice performance boost without sacrificing much visual quality. Should You Buy Now or Wait For ****** Friday? Prime Day is one of the absolute best times to buy a gaming PC every year. Not only does Amazon drop prices on it's prebuilt PCs, we also see equally good discounts from manufactures like Dell, Lenovo, and HP. As to whether you should buy now or wait for ****** Friday, it really just depends on what GPU you want in your PC. Overall Prime Day is an excellent time to find a deal on budget gaming PCs, but if you are hoping for a ***** on prebuilt rig packed with an RTX 4090, you may want to wait. If the new RTX 5080 GPUs are revealed in the Fall, then ****** Friday could see even lower prices. Looking for more Prime Day deals? Check out our megapost with hundreds of our favorite picks. 12. Ever since The First Descendant launched at the end of June it’s had an away from keyboard (AFK) problem. Now, developer Nexon has asked its player base to please stop going AFK and please refrain from AFK farming. Nexon’s free-to-play co-op focused looter shooter has enjoyed enormous popularity, with over 10 million players in just 10 days. But out on the battlefield there’s an increasingly troublesome issue that’s driving some players up the wall: AFK farming. AFK farming isn't a problem unique to The First Descendant, but in this game it’s particularly bad. The idea is players join a mission with others and simply twiddle their thumbs while everyone else does the hard work, then reap the rewards such as experience at the end. I’ve seen AFK farmers first-hand while playing The First Descendant — they’ll sometimes be spinning around in a circle, clearly in a bid to avoid any AFK detection Nexon may have in place. As players progress through the mission the AFK farmer will be forcibly teleported to catch-up, even to the boss ******, where they’ll continue to run around in circles. Nexon issued a statement in response on social media that covered AFK farming, as well as going AFK during co-op play generally. “If you need to step away, please do so in Albion only!” Nexon said, pointing to the game’s main town. But the statement also covers cheating, which is an increasing issue for The First Descendant. Here’s the statement in full: Lately, there have been increasing reports of inappropriate behavior in our game. While the dev team is working on measures, we want to remind Descendants of the following guidelines: The use, distribution, or creation of unauthorized programs is strictly prohibited. Do not go AFK during co-op play. If you need to step away, please do so in Albion only! Please refrain from AFK farming during missions. We're always striving to create a fun and pleasant gaming environment for Descendants! Please keep in mind these rules and help us build a greater community together! This statement, which essentially amounts to a “play nice” warning, will only do so much, so players are calling on Nexon to add proper anti-cheat measures and anti-AFK farming mechanics. Some, however, are defending AFK farming because, they insist, they’re so ***** of The First Descendant’s crushing grind that they’ve lost the will to play properly. The First Descendant is a massive hit already, but Nexon will be mindful of growing its player count as the game evolves, and we've seen how difficult this has become for so many publishers and developers who have entered the ultra competitive live service market in recent years. While The First Descendant is clearly a hit it is not without controversy, and sits on a ‘mixed’ user review rating on Steam. Players have heavily criticized The First Descendant's ultra aggressive monetization, which includes $100 character bundles and premium customization items that expire after use. Nexon was also accused of copying Destiny 2 icons for the icons used in The First Descendant, something the company has now said it will address in-game. Anti-afk measures would be great. You already have it in Albion if you idle for too long you’re booted back to menu. So far, that’s one of the very few things I don’t like about the game. — James Getty (@DigitalHitmann) July 16, 2024 Every game in **** knows how long has auto kick, this game even has auto kick! I know because I've been kicked in Albion! This is kind of a toothless response to the problem, sadly — NXN Gaming (@NXNStreams) July 16, 2024 Generally speaking, The First Descendant is a mash-up of mechanics from various looter shooters already in the market. There’s more than a whiff of Destiny about The First Descendant’s design, systems, and mechanics, but then there’s also a lot of Warframe about it, too. Last week, Nexon released a significant update for The First Descendant that makes some big changes to the game, but leaves some aspects that had become a topic of discussion within the community well alone. IGN’s The First Descendant review returned a 5/10. We said: “The First Descendant has all the building blocks of a fantastic looter shooter, but they’re ******* under a pile of monotonous quests, a terrible story, and an infuriating free-to-play model that has influenced its game design in the worst possible way.” Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. 14. It sounds like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem's sequel is going well, as producer Seth Rogen is sounding pretty pumped about it. Every day, I quietly say to myself "thank you Into the Spider-Verse for letting 3D animated films look good" because it's led to some really fun projects like last year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Yeah, sure, it's another IP film, but at least it's one that really went for it stylistically - plus the genuinely youthful cast truly put the teenage in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the first time, adding to an overall really refreshing take on a classic series. Earlier this year it was confirmed that the film would be getting a sequel, currently due to be released in 2026, with the follow-up of course introducing the turtles' big bad Shredder. Rogen, writer and producer on the first film, who'll be doing so again for the sequel, recently spoke with ComicBook about the upcoming film, and while he couldn't share all that much, it does sound like the film is progressing really well. "There is a title, and it's awesome, but I don't think I can say it," Rogen shared. "But when it came up on the screen, I stood up and cheered. There's an animatic - there's a storyboarded version of the whole movie, so they're working on it right now." Whether the rest of us will cheer at just hearing the title, I'm not so sure, but still, it's exciting nonetheless. Read more View the full article

  16. I know as much about programming video game monsters as I do the exact flavour and consistency of the sands on Mars, but I've always thought the chief advantage of the ****** monster archetype is its economy. A ******, in most games, is a squashy smiley face. Why, I could grow myself one of those right this very instant, by doodling a circle in MS Paint and squinting very hard. Slimes do take more complex forms - chrome slimes, ***** slimes, slimes with ****** eyebrows, etc - but come now, it's not on the same level as rebooting Lara Croft's hair to billow in the blowback from grenades. The simplicity of ****** creation may soon become a distant memory, however, for Epic Games tech artist and current Duck Shake Games Asher Zhu is *****-bent on reinventing the homely Dragon Quest sludgeball as a technical tour de force on par with his previous contributions to Unreal Engine showcase Matrix Awakens. That's the impression I garner from the below video of Zhu's latest project, anyway, whose description also tantalises with talk of "Splatoon mechanics in dungeons". Read more View the full article
  17. Acid is one of the most critical resources to farm in Once Human, and it’s instrumental in all stages of your survival journey to make ammunition for your weapons. Making ammunition in Once Human requires two main ingredients: Sulfur and Gunpowder. Getting your hands on Sulfur is no big deal in your starting region as they are abundant, and you can also use your Digby Boy to keep your stock high. So you’ll start running out of Gunpowder very soon. You need a lot of acid to make Gunpowder, and the game doesn’t tell you where to find it in the wild. 25. We've all be enjoying the inevitable array of challenge runs and unorthodox boss ****** that've come out of Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion since it arrived late last month, and the good news is that it doesn't look like things will be slowing down for a little bit yet. As of right now, for example, there's a streamer casually prepping to try and deliver what we assume would be the world's first no-hit run of it using a musical instrument. Yep, after beating Shadow of the Erdtree in regular fashion with their sax back on July 1, streamer DrDootPhD, formerly DrDecomposing, is now busy training to do a no-hit run of it using the instrument, having previously delivered the world's first musical no-hit run through the base game last summer. How's that training going, you ask? Well, they've just managed to beat Messmer to ****** using their spiky ball fists without taking a hit, so I'd say pretty well, even if you can see by their reaction that they'd had to spend a fair a amount of time bashing their head against the ****** during a three-hour stream.
