Ever since I played Capcom's 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2, I've been eagerly waiting for the original to come to PC. With the seminal survival horror series jumping between genres over the last three decades, it's been hard to easily find and play the trilogy that started it all. The remakes of RE2 and RE4 are excellent, the first-person adventures of Ethan Winters are a return to form, and Resident Evil 9 anticipation is at a fever pitch. Ubisoft has revealed the PC requirements for the highly anticipated open world Star Wars Outlaws ahead of its August 27, 2024 release date. A Ubisoft blog post revealed the Minimum, Recommended, Enthusiast, and Ultra settings for the game alongside a 65GB SSD storage requirement. At the very least, players will need a GeForce GTX 1660, AMD RX 5600 XT, or Intel ARC A750 graphics card to run Star Wars Outlaws, alongside an Intel Core 17-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 4600 processor, and 16GB of RAM. These Minimum settings produce 1080p visuals at 30 frames per second at low presets. The Recommended settings (at 1080p, 60fps, and high presets) require a GeForce RTX 3060 TI or AMD RX 6700 XT, an Intel COER I5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, and 16GB of RAM. Enthusiast (1440p, 60fps, and high presets) requires a GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD RX 6800 XT, an Intel Core i5-11600 or Ryzen 7 5800X, and 16GB of RAM. I’ve likely mentioned hitting Lovecraft fatigue so often that it’s now evolved into a second phase of Lovecraft-fatigue fatigue. This is not the same as Lovecraft refreshment, no matter how much I might want to return to the days before old one plushies and Cthulhu children’s books terrorised the internet en masse. There’s not quite enough information about “story generator” sim Marry a Deep One: Innsmouth Simulator for me to confidently say it’ll cut through my exhaustion with all things tentacular and horrifically be-gilled. But it is beguiling, isn’t it? There’s all sorts of little widgets and details shown off that remind me of everything from Sid Meier’s Pirates to classic adventure games, and maybe even a little Rimworld? New champions were crowned at the 2024 Pokémon World Championships, and one beloved Pokémon finally got its redemption arc after one whole year. Pokémon Worlds ended on Aug. 18 with an intense VGC finals match between Luca Ceribelli and Yuta Ishigaki. One of the best roguelikes on PC is getting a farewell of sorts this week. Twitchy slashfest ***** Cells received its final major update, introducing new enemies, fresh weapons, and a few mutations. Unfortunately, all this new stuff is very cursed. In other words, it all toys with the game's "curse" status effect, a hex that causes you to be ******* if you take even a single hit. Amazon’s recently revealed Prime Video animated anthology series reportedly includes a Warhammer 40,000 episode. Last week, Deadline reported that Amazon was working with the team behind Netflix’s much-loved series, Love, ****** & Robots, for an ******-focused animated anthology of its own called Secret Level. Secret Level is made up of original short stories set in the worlds of video games. Deadline reported that Amazon Games’ New World, Spelunky, and PlayStation titles were “rumored to be among the games and IP featured on the series,” with a reveal potentially set for gamescom’s Opening Night Live this Tuesday, August 20. Now, Redanian Intelligence has followed up with a report that claims that Clive Standen (Vikings) will reprise his role as Lieutenant Titus from the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 in Secret Level on an episode called Chaos. Chaos is the blanket term for factions associated with Warhammer 40,000’s ruinous powers, and revolves around demons and traitor Space Marines. Redanian Intelligence adds that Max Rinehart (Unforgotten, Noah Hawley’s Alien) is set to play a character called Julius, speculated to be another Ultramarine alongside Titus. Other Secret Level episodes reportedly in the works include one called The Outer Worlds, which is perhaps based on Obsidian’s sci-fi RPG of the same name. Brenock O’Connor, who played Olly in Game of Thrones, is set to play a character called Amos in that episode. An episode based on id Software’s ***** is also reportedly on the list. Sequels to both The Outer Worlds and ***** are in the works. News of a potential Prime Video Warhammer 40,000 animation comes amid ongoing discussion between Games Workshop, which owns the hugely popular tabletop game, and Amazon for Henry Cavill’s Warhammer 40,000 film and TV series. As IGN reported last month, Games Workshop and Amazon have until December 2024 to agree on “creative guidelines” or the film and TV series won’t happen. Meanwhile, Games Workshop publishes Warhammer animations of its own via its Warhammer+ subscription service. However, Warhammer+ has had a tough 2024 on the animation front, with fans expressing disappointment at the number of series released so far. The director of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake says he’s confident the third part will be one of the greatest video games ever made. Speaking at an event held at a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth exhibition currently taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, director Naoki Hamaguchi said Square Enix was working away on the third part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. “The development team is hard at work as we speak, and we’re going to make the game something that even beats any expectations that you have towards the game,” Hamaguchi said via an interpreter. AP Senna is on a rampage in League of Legends right now after her massive buffs in Patch 14.16. She’s an enchanter at this point with mass shields and healing—but players aren’t happy with the changes. Last week, the Xitter account for H2M - a mod aiming to recreate the heyday of classic Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer inside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered - announced that they had received a cease and desist from Activision Blizzard, and would shut down the project. The 2022 version of Modern Warfare 2 lacked the original’s multiplayer, and H2M was so highly-anticipated that Steam sales of the 2016 FPS balooned in the lead-up to the mod’s planned release date. If you were one of the Helldivers 2 players who’d been hoping they’d get to see what Arrowhead had in store if the Automatons were to reach Super Earth, I’m afraid you might want to sit down. Thanks to the latest Major Order, it seems you’re no longer likely to succeed in letting the bots barge down the front door of the divers home planet. That’s right, the whole player-driven protest movement against balancing changes which had set its sights on letting the baddies reach Super Earth, and had morphed into a bit of a roleplaying movement in properly Helldivers fashion, has run into a roadblock - people who just want to ***** things and aren’t averse to obeying orders.
