  1. Baldur's Gate 3 is a big game that's received plenty of free content post release, and yet the developer's CEO was worried it would be too short. Anyone that's played Baldur's Gate 3 can quickly tell you that it is a beefy game. I constantly see posts go viral of some obscure scene with players that have put hundreds of hours into the game saying they've never seen that in all their playtime. And a year on from its full release, Larian Studios continues to add to it, even if they aren't always massive additions of content. Yet as big as the game was when it launched without all of these updates, prior to its release, Larian CEO and game director Swen Vincke was worried that the game would end up being too short. Speaking in a recent video interview with BAFTA, Vincke explained that there were plans to make the game even ******* than it already is, but it had to be cut down. "This is a really random tidbit, but Moonrise Towers used to be two towers. And now, we shipped with only one tower," Vincke explained. "And for a long time, there was actually the ruins of the second tower, and then we removed that also. So there was only one tower, but originally we planned on having two towers. The reason we removed the extra tower was purely productionally. It was just, the game was getting too big and so we had to cut that out." Read more View the full article
  2. Today’s New York Times Mini Crossword puzzle may be on the simpler side but that doesn’t mean you can’t get stumped on a seemingly straightforward clue. “Celebrity,” short and sweet it may be, has proven to be quite a challenge for many, and here are some hints and the answer if you are in need. “Celebrity” is a clue for a four-letter across word in the Aug. 18 edition of the Mini Crossword: here’s how to solve it. 3. There are many different monsters and creepy crawlies to deal with in Lethal Company, but none are as polarizing as the new Maneater creature in Version 60. The Maneater is a new entity that was added in the latest update for Lethal Company, and brings a new mechanic that company workers have never seen before. Unlike other creatures that immediately ******* you on sight, this little creature can be coddled for the safety of the team. There is, however, a fine line between keeping it satisfied and gaining a terrifying ******. View the full article For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

  5. After a challenging major order, Helldivers 2 autocompletes it and rewards those who avoided finding ways to cheat. Arrowhead has been under some pressure as of late as Helldivers 2 players continue to air their grievances at the current state of the game. After a hot start earlier this year, Helldivers 2 has struggled with the game's balance, nerfing builds and weapons the community has found the fun in, resulting in review ***** campaigns on Steam and plenty more controversy in the months following. 6. Falcom is one of the oldest-running ********* game developers operating today. They are responsible for a lot of pioneering in the RPG genre and innovated “bump” style combat which would eventually evolve into the standard hack-and-slash method most action RPGs use to this day. Some of their innovations would eventually lead to inspiring Nintendo’s Zelda […] Source View the full article

  8. Epic Games has been giving away free games every week for years now, which has apparently been going well - but the store's exclusives haven't done so well. Valve doesn't exactly run a monopoly when it comes to buying digital games, but for the most part everyone knows that Steam is the defacto place to buy your PC games. Storefronts like GOG and *****.io have their own niches, but Steam is still the place to be for most PC games, even if it is quite flawed. Then, in 2018, Epic Games decided it wanted a piece of the pie and opened up its own store, and it didn't do so without controversy, as many PC gamers were not a fan of it right off the bat. Six years on, the store is still around, but even still many don't like it. Of course, Epic has tried a couple of tactics to encourage players to use its platform, like weekly free games, which it has given out every week since 2018, with certain seasons even offering daily free games. But in a recent press call (via PC Gamer), despite how costly that might be, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney shared that it's been a "very economical" user acquisition program. 9. While fishing is an everyday activity in Fields of Mistria, catching all four Legendary Fish is easier said than done. Each fish corresponds to a different season, so you'll have to play the game for at least one full in-game year before you're able to even have the chance to catch them all. On top of this, you can't catch them until you're Fishing rank 30, so you'll have plenty of practice by the time you find them. View the full article

  13. The Sunday Strands puzzle explores the nature of creation with a clue in the form of a simple question: “What do you make of this?” Unlike yesterday’s brain-buster edition of this fun little word game, this puzzle is much more approachable, but if you still feel like you’re in need of assistance finding the Spangram of one of those pesky hiding words, we’ve got you covered. 14. Cyberpunk 2077 is a very quotable game, thanks to its cast of well-written characters, such as V, Panam, Judy, and Johnny Silverhand. By far, the character with the best lines is Johnny, as he manages to balance crass humor and genuinely heartfelt moments, creating some of the most memorable lines in Cyberpunk 2077. Johnny's dialogue would be nothing without the fantastic line delivery by Keanu Reeves, who flawlessly brings out the character's humanity and deep-rooted anger. View the full article

  16. It turns out some Helldivers 2 players cheated in order to help complete the latest Major Order, and as a result their, uh, **** fish have been *******. Helldivers 2 isn't exactly the hardest game in the world, but it's not like there isn't a good challenge to it either. Even still, as with any online game, there are some that just want to circumvent that challenge altogether, and as shared on the Helldivers 2 subreddit, an in-game message from Arrowhead notes that there were some cheaters, albeit this was delivered in-world as always. "Super Earth High Command has detected a large batch of counterfeit samples within the delivery of the last Major Order," reads the message. "As is customary, Medals have been awarded to all Helldivers who honorably performed their duties, and the ones submitting false samples have had their **** fish summarily *********. Laboratories all across Super Earth space are attempting to filter out the false samples, but the expected scientific advances to combat the spread of the gloom have decreased significantly. As a result of this, worlds near the gloom have begun resettlement protocols." Read more View the full article

  18. Have you tried Once Human yet? 2024 has been a great year for survival games, with the likes of Palworld, Soulmask, and newcomer Dawn of Defiance competing with ongoing stalwarts such as Rust, Valheim, and Ark. Yet Once Human has an ace up its sleeve - it's a free game on Steam. That means there's virtually no barrier to entry, and it's paying dividends as developer Starry Studio celebrates both a colossal player count milestone and a place on Valve's best-selling chart. As thanks, you can even claim a free gift right now. Read the rest of the story... 19. If you're a fiend for clever tactical combat that enjoys the likes of Baldur's Gate 3, Into the Breach, and XCOM, newcomer Arco should be on your radar. Set in a slightly fantastical version of the ********* frontier inspired heavily by Mesoamerican and South ********* history, this new indie RPG tells a classical tale of revenge and bloodshed. While its characters and tales have certainly piqued my interest, however, what really captured my attention is its satisfying combat, a delightful fusion of real-time and turn-based tactics. 20. This week marks ten years since the arrival of PT, Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro's playable teaser for the canceled Silent Hills. Its age seems hard to believe. For one, it's still a visually stunning and terrifying game that has doubled as an endless well of inspiration for horror developers. Its influence is undeniable across indies and big-budget releases alike. However, it's not the above-repute masterpiece it's often hailed as, and its legacy is complicated by how eagerly developers have twisted or dully rehashed its ideas. Read the rest of the story... 22. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my first few playthroughs of Baldurs Gate 3, it took a certain addition to the game for me to finally start paying attention to all of my spells. I typically play a rogue Tav, because I like being able to pick locks with my primary character, but I dont want to miss out on Neil Newbons excellent voice performance as Astarion. When playing alone, I would simply throw powerful Evocation spells on Gale's wizard build, and healing spells on Shadowheart. In multiplayer, I would relegate the spellcasting to my friends. 24. Addition by subtraction can be very effective, especially when it comes to annoying game features. 2K announcing that the most annoying aspect of launching Civilization 6 will not make a return for Civ 7 has caused cheers throughout the community and will hopefully spur other publishers to follow suit. We are, of course, talking about the 2K launcher, which has been a major thorn in the side of Civilization 6 players for years. Not only is it one of many seemingly unnecessary publisher launchers, but also one of the biggest of the bunch, prompting gamers to actively develop ways to circumvent it. View the full article
