  1. With Worlds 2024 nearing its conclusion, Riot Games has unveiled major changes for the LEC’s 2025 season, marking one of the league’s biggest overhauls to date. Kicking off on Jan. 18, the season will feature three “dynamic” splits, each with unique formats, more localized events, and higher stakes ahead of the three international qualifications. In a media roundtable behind closed doors, Riot and the LEC revealed the new structure for its EMEA league for next season. The LEC will keep its three-split format—Winter, Spring, and Summer—but each will offer a distinct competitive structure. Riot also confirmed that most games will run on the latest live patch, though that will be put on hold if a patch releases too close to the game week to protect competitive integrity. 2. Michael Gamble, the project leader behind the next Mass Effect game, recently reassured concerned fans that the next game will retain the photorealistic art style found in previous entries in contrast to Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Way back in 2020, BioWare confirmed that the dormant Mass Effect series would return with a new mainline entry. Not much is known about the sequel as of this writing, save that it will be set after the events of the original trilogy and feature Shepards popular Asari squadmate, Liara T'Soni. 3. A Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 player has discovered the World at War Courtyard multiplayer map hidden inside ****** Ops 6. X/Twitter user @M3RKMUS1C found Courtyard while exploring the outskirts of the Skyline map, though used unofficial means to get there meaning regular players won't be able to access it, at least not yet. "Courtyard from World at War is coming back," they professed in the video. This is far from confirmed, of course, but the map can clearly be seen in Skyline, most identifiable by the two circular declines at its centre. It's also entirely possible the development team at Treyarch included the map as a fun, internal Easter egg when filling out the background of Skyline, with nothing more significant meant by its inclusion. BREAKING: While I was exploring ****** Ops 6 maps I found Courtyard from World at War on the outskirts of Skyline! Do you think WaW Courtyard could get added to #BO6 as a DLC map? @Treyarch @CallofDuty [Hidden Content] — Erik (@M3RKMUS1C) October 28, 2024 World at War is technically part of the ****** Ops franchise, so Courtyard does have vague ties to ****** Ops 6. It was also remade for ****** Ops 2 in Dig, described as "an adaptation of the fan-favorite Courtyard from Call of Duty: World at War." Treyarch therefore clearly isn't against bringing it back, though hasn't said if it plans to do so for ****** Ops 6. It will more than likely get map packs in the future as per Call of Duty tradition though, so perhaps another version of Courtyard will be included in one of those. ****** Ops 6 is off to a strong start, outperforming both Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 on Steam in its opening weekend. Its launch is also special as it marks the first Call of Duty game to come to Xbox Game Pass on launch day. Analysts expected its release could boost the subscription service by up to four million new users, but at the cost of six million lost sales. We’ve also got a full weapons list (including the below ranking tool you can participate in), a guide to all multiplayer maps and game modes, and details on how to unlock all ****** Ops 6 operators. 4. So long for now, Playdate Stereo Dock. | Screenshot: Playdate Well, we finally know what’s up with Panic’s Playdate Stereo Dock. It’s not coming — at least, not for a while. In an update to the Stereo Dock’s page, the company describes the challenges it faced in getting a good prototype, but says that, in the end, the device didn’t meet its standards. The Stereo Dock was going to be a small desktop Bluetooth speaker and pen holder that you could attach a Playdate to. Panic first announced the Stereo Dock in 2021, when it was still working toward releasing the Playdate. On the web page, the company describes the unexpected challenges it faced getting the Stereo Dock to market: What happened? Well, our first regret was assuming that our factory at that time — a factory that made lots of Bluetooth... Continue reading… View the full article

  9. How many quests are there in Dragon Age The Veilguard? Based on our experience with BioWare's fantasy series, Dragon Age The Veilguard's main story will be split into several acts, with quests that demand you to make complex choices that determine the outcome of its ending. However, in classic RPG game fashion, the main quest in Dragon Age The Veilguard is supplemented by a surplus of side quests to pursue at leisure. These optional missions are the perfect way to level up and kit out your party with rare Dragon Age Veilguard weapons and armor, offering a welcome breather from the main plot. 11. Going in, Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 is something of a known quantity. The first-person shooter series is a monolith, almost perennially the best-selling game of the year and a product of consistently high quality, but Call of Duty also seemingly possesses an inability to overcome its inertia. I played the original, World War 2-centered trilogy, but really cut my teeth on the series during the halcyon days between CoD 4 and the original ****** Ops. Nearly two decades later, it feels like I'm still playing some souped-up version of Modern Warfare, with a fresh coat of paint courtesy of 2019's soft reboot of the same name. View the full article

  22. I feel like there are few games endearing enough to have their own creators playing in their spare time, but ConcernedApe has racked up his fair share of non-development hours in Stardew Valley at this point.
