Nvidia is planning to take on Intel and AMD with a new CPU designed for use in consumer PCs, according to a report. The move could see the gaming GPU maker challenge the domination of Intel and AMD in the PC world, particularly when it comes to laptops and AI, but the company's lack of an x86 license will present a challenge when it comes to this rumored Nvidia CPU running PC games and the PC's expansive software back catalog. Not only does Nvidia make the best graphics card for gaming right now, in the form of the RTX 4090, but it's now also the world's most valuable company, thanks to its huge strides in the AI world. We're expecting the new RTX 5000 gaming GPU lineup to launch in the near future, but it looks as though Nvidia could also be launching a new CPU range in 2025 as well. Read the rest of the story... Stardew Valley's 1.6.9 Update is finally here but for those who are struggling to enjoy it due to technical hiccups, creator ConcernedApe has a simple but odd fix. While the vast majority of Farmers, especially those on consoles and mobile, are busy digging into the latest patch and all its secrets, some players are reporting major performance issues. It's uncommon for a game like Stardew Valley but when so many systems are layered on top of one another, it stands to reason that some stuttering may occasionally occur. View the full article
Warcraft 2: Remastered appears to be set for an announcement from Blizzard soon after a logo for the game appeared on internal servers. As spotted by Wowhead and X/Twitter user Stiven, Blizzard updated its content delivery network (CDN) to mention a 'Warcraft II: Remastered Internal Alpha.' Blizzard has yet to announce the game, and IGN has asked for comment. The CDN update also includes background images and logos for Warcraft 2: Remastered, which lean on the original's naval theme. Warcraft II Remastered !!! :D [Hidden Content] — Stiven (@Stiven_SRB) November 5, 2024 This all appears to be pointing toward Blizzard’s Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct stream, set for November 13 at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm ***. Blizzard has said this stream will include "something for everyone," from old-school fans of the real-time strategy games to World of Warcraft players. Warcraft Rumble and Hearthstone will also feature in the stream, which comes in lieu of the canceled BlizzCon 2024. A Warcraft 2 remaster would certainly fit the bill here. The RTS classic launched on PC in 1995 as a sequel to the groundbreaking Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and met with positive reviews and big sales. Indeed, Blizzard has form in remastering its previous games. StarCraft: Remastered, which is about to launch into Game Pass, launched in 2017, the disastrous Warcraft 3: Reforged launched in 2020, and Diablo 2: Resurrected launched in 2021. Don’t expect Blizzard to announce Warcraft 4, however. As detailed in the recently-released Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment, Blizzard is pretty out on RTS these days. It is reportedly working on a StarCraft shooter, though. Image credit: Blizzard Entertainment. Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. One of the biggest selling points of the PS5 Pro is that it can boost the image quality of PS4 games, even though they have not technically been “enhanced” for the console by either Sony or developers. And while there are over 3,000 PlayStation 4 games to date, there’s one many of us hold dear to our hearts: Bloodborne. With a sequel now seeming little more than a pipedream, we’re left with only one option – to play through the original again on PS5 Pro to make the most of the console's Enhanced Image Quality feature. But does the PS5 Pro actually make Bloodborne look any better? If you’ve pre-ordered a PS5 Pro then you can check it out for yourself, but if you’re still sitting on the fence then check out the video below and see if you can tell the difference. We’ve also compared some of the other 50-plus games that are enhanced for PS5 Pro at launch, starting with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We tested it in both Pro modes – Fidelity and Performance – and you can see the results for yourself in this 23-minute gameplay video. Hogwarts Legacy was one of the big showcase games from the console reveal. We've now had the chance to play it on PS5 Pro in Fidelity mode with ray tracing, which promises to improve lightning and shadows, as well as adding better reflections. Take a look at the game running on PS5 Pro. Finally (ahem), we have 16 minutes of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth running in Versatility mode, which enhances the quality of the visuals and delivers better frame-rates. Can you tell the difference? If so, is it enough to make you pay the extra money for a PS5 Pro? Let us know in the poll below. Meanwhile, make sure you check out IGN's full review of the PS5 Pro, which tells you everything you need to know about PlayStation's latest console. View the full article

I love a good fantasy RPG. Be it the ****** streets of Dragon Age: Origins' Ferelden, or the sprawling emerald plains of World of Warcraft's Elywnn Forest, there's nothing quite like immersing yourself in a universe brimming with magic, mayhem, and endless possibility. For many, RuneScape is that universe, which is why it still manages to stand tall amid a slew of competitor MMORPGs 23 years down the line. But we wouldn't have RuneScape if not for Andrew Gower, its original creator, and he's back with a brand new point-and-click RPG called Brighter Shores. Read the rest of the story... What We Said in Our Review IGN reviewer Mitchell Saltzman said in his review: "Final Fantasy 16 will very likely be looked back upon as a turning point for mainline Final Fantasy games, taking its combat fully in the direction of an action game, but I hope that conversation doesn’t overshadow its dark and captivating tale, memorable characters, and the innovative ways in which it helps you keep track of it all." "The Active Time Lore feature is incredible, and should be standard for all story-driven games going forward, and while the combat may not live up to the sky high standards as some of the best games in the character action genre, among other action RPGs, it’s near the top of the heap. Pair all of that with one of the best soundtracks of the year, incredible performances from top to bottom, and drop ***** gorgeous visuals, and you’ve got a game worthy of an orchestral Final Fantasy victory fanfare." In many ways, the timing of Sony's 2016 launch of the PS4 Pro couldn't have been better. The slightly upgraded version of 2013's PlayStation 4 came at a time when a wave of 4K TVs was just beginning to crest in the form of tens of millions of annual sales in the US. Purchasing Sony's first-ever "mid-generation" console upgrade in 2016 didn't give original PS4 owners access to any new games, a fact that contributed to us calling the PS4 Pro "a questionable value proposition" when it launched. Still, many graphics-conscious console gamers were looking for an excuse to use the extra pixels and HDR colors on their new 4K TVs, and spending hundreds of dollars on a stopgap console years before the PS5 served that purpose well enough. Fast-forward to today and the PS5 Pro faces an even weaker value proposition. The PS5, after all, has proven more than capable of creating excellent-looking games that take full advantage of the 4K TVs that are now practically standard in ********* homes. With 8K TVs still an extremely small market niche, there isn't anything akin to what Sony's Mike Somerset called "the most significant picture-quality increase probably since ****** and white went to ******" when talking about 4K TV in 2016. Back in the misty reaches of time (March) popular farming sim Stardew Valley got a big update that added more pets to the game (it also let you drink mayonaise but let's not get sidetracked). Those new cats, dogs, and turtles had the cute distinction of being able to wear hats, should you choose to kit your wee friends out. Now, following many months of smaller updates to the game, it seems those hats are causing a problem. "[If] you are experiencing performance issues in Stardew Valley 1.6, remove all hats from pets," said creator Eric Barone in a xeet. When asked the lore-accurate cause of this problem, he blamed: "a strange rash". Read more View the full article
