  1. The Sims 4 has been the core game in The Sims franchise for just over a decade now, with numerous content add-on packs continuing to accumulate a massive playerbase. Despite the base game for The Sims 4 lacking in the unpredictable and more chaotic gameplay compared to previous installments, various expansion and stuff packs have added an abundance of fun features that have kept the game alive. One of the things that The Sims 4 does best is its occult content packs, which always offer exciting gameplay features as well as unique items in Create-A-Sim and Build Mode. View the full article

  6. If you also got addicted to claiming new skins in Insomniac's Spidey series as I did, today's your day. There is some new Spidey 2 spandex available for Pete and Miles, plus the freebie train continues with a couple of PC handouts worth redeeming. Beyond that, this is a very CoD-centric day—past and discounted present. So maybe go quickscope yourself a saving. In retro news, I'm lighting a 16-shaped cake for Call of Duty: World at War. In the First Person Shooter wing of my gaming museum, WaW stands out as a pivotal, er... CoD piece. Back in the day, I travelled to Treyarch to preview this and was highly impressed with its co-op campaign (2P split or 4 online), the inaugural version of ***** Zombies, and the way military advisor Hank Keirsey's eyes lit up when we spoke about flamethrower usage and the brave acts of Aussies in the Pacific theatre. Technically the beginning of the ****** Ops sub-story that has now reached ****** Ops 6, WaW stands up quite well, mostly due to an all-in performance by Gary Oldman as Viktor Reznov. 7. Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 players have noticed that even though the developers said they removed a no-attachments challenge, it's still around. The ability to partake in frequent challenges seems like a feature that can break up any possible monotony that players may experience while revisiting Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 on a daily basis. With the presence of challenge events in the game, the developers can incentivize players to try out new things, stop focusing on a quickly forming meta, and enjoy each unique element that ****** Ops 6 and its weapons can offer gamers. 9. One of the best feelings you can get in a building game is when you look down at all you've created, taking pleasure in thousands of machines working to bring order from chaos. It's a feeling you can get in titles like Infinifactory, Factorio, Dyson Sphere Program, or Satisfactory, but one of its purest forms comes in Shapez 2. It's been making waves in early access since August, but now it has just had its price slashed in a ***** that should bring it to a much ******* audience. Read the rest of the story... 11. Finally laying to rest years of debate among fans, Silent Hill 2 art director Masahiro Ito has confirmed that Pyramid Head's design is not a creation of protagonist James Sunderland's mind but is instead an image from a painting brought to life. Silent Hill 2 players have long pondered whether the horrifyingly iconic appearance of Pyramid Head was from the mind of James or if it had a more complex origin, the latter of which has now been confirmed by the creature's creator. 14. The Steam Deck is getting a brand new ****** starting net week. Valve announced on Monday that a white version of the Steam Deck OLED will be available in limited quantities starting November 18, offering users who don't want to go through the trouble of purchasing custom skins a bit more variety. The newly-revealed Steam Deck OLED: White Edition will have all the same specs as the one terabyte model and will be available everywhere the Steam Deck currently ships, including Australia. It is the second unique Steam Deck colorway to be announced, following on from the smoky translucent version released last year. "Last year, we released a smoky translucent limited edition Steam Deck OLED as an experiment to find out if there was interest in alternative colorways (there was!). This is our second experiment along those lines. The difference this time (aside from the ******!) is that we're able to ship the Limited Edition White to all regions where Steam Deck already ships. We're curious to see what the response is, and will use what we learn to inform future decisions about any potential new ****** variants down the line," Valve said in its announcement. "We've been super happy with the reception of Steam Deck since we first launched the LCD version in March of 2022. We've always said our intent is to continually work on improving Steam Deck, and that's true from both a software perspective (continuing to ship improvements) and a hardware one (Steam Deck OLED, as well as ongoing work toward the future of Steam Deck and other hardware plans). The Steam Deck OLED: White Edition's is being treated as a limited edition, with Valve saying "once we're out, we're out." It plans to allocate stock proportionally across each region and will restrict purchases to one unit per account. Eligble accounts must have made a Steam purchase before November 2024 and be in good standing to be eligible. The Steam Deck has become a popular way to play games on the platform since its release in 2022, spawning a raft of imitators. The OLED version improved on the original release with a superior screen, and better battery life. "When the Steam Deck is living up to its promises, it's absolutely incredible. Playing GTA 5, **** of War, and other modern games on the go is an absolute joy, and the hardware and controls feel good to hold even though it’s a big chubby boy of a handheld," we wrote in our original review. Notably, GTA 5 and Apex Legend have since lost Steam Deck support. The Steam Deck OLED: White Edition will release on the eve of ****** Friday, and you can read our guide to what to expect right here. 17. Image: Nintendo Nintendo is finally ready to show off the next phase of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. In a Nintendo Direct today, the company gave the first proper look at the Donkey Kong Country-themed expansion for the theme park, which includes a mine cart rollercoaster and a real-life, three-player version of the Donkey Konga rhythm game. The expansion opens on December 11th. To get to the new area, attendees go through a tunnel seemingly made with rocks, that leads to a jungle-themed locale. There’s a towering tree house, a golden temple spewing steam, and lots of banana-flavored deserts. And just like in the games, you can find — and collect — giant letters hidden around the area using the park’s NFC bracelet.... Continue reading… View the full article

  19. Although players only got a small taste of what is to come, the Monster Hunter Wilds beta seems like everything that hopeful fans want from an MH title in the current console generation. It is the best looking title in the series and has added many new features that feel like they will end up being great by the time of the full release. ******* switching, a vast, open-world environment to explore, a likable cast of NPCs, and extreme weather conditions that change the hunting environment are all new to Wilds. 20. Valve has just dropped a new flavor of its acclaimed handheld, with the new white Steam Deck OLED transforming the previously all-****** gaming device into a classy white and gray model. Despite being ostensibly the same device, but with a different ******** shell, the result looks strikingly different from the original device, with the white heavily contrasting against the ****** screen. This isn't the first white handheld, of course. The Asus ROG Ally is already available in white as standard, as are some other devices, but Valve doesn't often venture outside the Model T Ford ****** scheme for the Steam Deck, and we love to see it. As we found in our Steam Deck OLED review, this device's amazing screen, and use of SteamOS rather than Windows, makes it the best handheld gaming PC right now, even if other devices have more processing power available. 22. The Steam Deck OLED – which is like a Steam Deck but better in almost every way – is getting a new, if potentially more smudge-susceptible Limited Edition. A successor to the translucent version that only went on ***** in the US and Canada last year, the Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White offers both a snowy look and, for those of us outside North America, the chance to actually buy one. It’ll go on ***** November 18th, in all the countries that the Steam Deck currently ships in. Read more View the full article
  23. For a genre built entirely on the appeal of its characters, recent hero shooters have woefully lacked spice and creativity. Poor, forgettable designs have made recent failures and underwhelming hero shooters on the horizon (sorry Concord and Project Ethos) look like trend chasers showing up years late to the party. However, there is one upcoming hero shooter that's doing everything right: Fragpunk. It's giving the genre a shot of adrenaline it desperately needs right now... Read more.View the full article
  24. Dungeon crawlers have had a long and storied history with PC gaming, from titles like Akalabeth, Eye of the Beholder, or Dungeon Master to more modern offerings like Dark and Darker, Dungeonborne, and Legend of Grimrock. There are some truly unique twists on the genre out there too, and Dungeons of Blood and Dream is one of them. Even outside of its art style, which is already enough to set it apart, it brings in some neat roguelike elements that make this entirely its own thing, and it's out now.
