Square Enix is apologizing for the confusion surrounding one of the new Final Fantasy 14 hairstyles introduced in patch 7.1, as it greatly differs from the contest winner that influenced it. The new 'Doing the Wave' hairstyle is described as "inspired by" one of the winners of the game's Hairstyle Design Contest in 2023, but many players are upset that Square Enix's finished version looks nothing like the style it's based upon. In response, Square Enix says it will "look for other ways" to bring the curly-haired contest winner into the MMO in the future. Read the rest of the story... Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 is a game all about ********* guns and ******** other players. At least, that’s how it’s meant to be played. Not for one determined pacifist, however, who has managed to Prestige without ******** a single player. Redditor Pilgore revealed his in-game stats after reaching Prestige 1, confirming a remarkable 0.00 K/D after 111 games, or 19 hours and 26 minutes of Multiplayer. That means he managed to gain enough experience to level up past 55 and trigger Prestige despite having zero ******. Perhaps even more remarkable, Pilgore achieved the feat with a 1.92 win ratio. Pacifism will always be a legitimate strategy. Prestige 1 byu/Pilgore1 inblackops6 .reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; } How did Pilgore manage it? Why do this in the first place? And where does he go from here? IGN interviewed Pilgore, real name John, to find out, and obtained permission to publish one of his matches on the Nuketown map to show off his impressive pacifist tactics. Check it out in the video below. In short, Pilgore employs a combination of playing the objective (I know, rare for Call of Duty!), and using the Spy Cam Tactical equipment and Scrambler Field Upgrade to gain score during the match, then calls in the UAV, CUAV, and HARP scorestreaks as they become available. Pilgore also shoots down any ****** scorestreaks as soon as they come in. Pilgore does not ****** at ****** players at any point; rather, he plays Call of Duty like the most useful support class you could ever want. As you'd expect, Pilgore has many more victories in objective-based modes such as Hardpoint and Domination than K/D-focused modes such as Team Deathmatch and ***** Confirmed. And if you’re interested in Pilgore1’s Perks, he uses Flak Jacket, Gearhead, and Dispatcher to trigger Strategist, with the Tactical Expert wildcard granting an extra Tactical. "Four Spy Cams can genuinely get you UAV/CUAV on its own," he said. So, why bother playing Call of Duty as a pacifist? It turns out Pilgore has done this before with previous Call of Duty games, joking with a friend that he could Prestige before him even if he got zero ****** on ****** Ops Cold War. “I enjoyed playing that way so I just kept on going,” Pilgore said. He managed to hit Prestige 15 on Cold War, 10 on Vanguard and Modern Warfare 2, and 15 on last year’s Modern Warfare 3 playing this way. It’s one ***** of an achievement and shows incredible focus and discipline, but one thing that bothers me about all this is how Pilgore was able to avoid ******** an ****** player just once, even accidentally. I play a lot of Call of Duty and I’ve often ******* ****** players by mistake, simply by either pressing the wrong button at the wrong time, or having a rocket intended for a scorestreak ***** up an ****** player who just happened to get in my way. “It was definitely risky at the start (previous games) and I got lucky a few times,” Pilgore explained. “I'd throw a Decoy grenade and it would sometimes hit somebody, luckily, it never got me a ***** (yet). I've gotten much better at being careful after doing this for 51 Prestiges now. There's almost no worry of it happening this game as the Spy Cam has replaced Decoys for me.” Pilgore added that he’s been lucky enough not to have an ****** player jump in his crosshairs while he’s ********* down scorestreaks. And it’s worth noting that the player who calls in a scorestreak gets the ****** if it crashes down on other players, so there's no danger of an accidental ***** there. I also assumed that it would take an excruciatingly long time to gain enough XP to Prestige while playing as a pacifist, but Pilgore insisted his method is “actually a pretty decent way to get score/XP.” “I consistently get at least 7,000 score a match,” he went on. “My tactics haven't really changed over the years. Experimented with different loadouts but the main gameplay has been the same. Earning XP doing this is much better than you'd think.” Keep going until I get a ***** or get bored. I have a buttload of patience. The inevitable next question is what’s next for Pilgore? Perhaps unsurprisingly, given his history playing Call of Duty as a pacifist, there’s no turning back now. “Keep going until I get a ***** or get bored,” he vowed. “I have a buttload of patience.” Taking on Zombies mode? Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has a new update (patch 4.5) out now across all platforms, adding the hotly anticipated Neo-Volkite ******* to the game. Saber Interactive’s explosive third-person melee / shooter set in Games Workshop’s grimdark sci-fi universe set records for a Warhammer video game upon its release in September, and has sold an impressive 4.5 million copies so far. Saber has continued to update it since, with today’s patch notes revealing yet more balance changes ahead of a larger update set to add Dark Angels cosmetics. Let’s start with the Neo-Volkite *******, which is a powerful thermal ray ******* that shoots lethal beams that burns enemies to ash. It’s available now for the ********, Vanguard, and Bulwark classes, but is limited to Operations mode only. Operations is the three-player co-op focused PvE mode designed to be played long-term after the campaign is completed. Unlike other weapons, the Neo-Volkite ******* blasts a heat ray onto your enemies, dealing accumulative thermal damage. Focusing on one ****** ramps up the damage until it generates a localized ********** for huge damage to your target and all nearby enemies. The Neo-Volkite ******* makes its entry in the #SpaceMarine2 armoury In Operations, blast heat rays onto your enemies, inflict accumulative damage and ***** up those xenos! [Hidden Content] — Focus Entertainment (@Focus_entmt) November 12, 2024 Publisher Focus Entertainment said it’s limiting the Neo-Volkite ******* to Operations mode for now “as we continue to experiment with balancing in PvP.” It will be added to Eternal War mode in Space Marine 2’s next major update alongside a new Operations map, a new ******, and the Dark Angels cosmetics. Until then though, you’ll be able to try it out against your friends in the Battle Barge’s Sparring Arena. Moving on, there are a number of balance changes for Operations mode only, including buffs to the Plasma Incinerator, Bolt ******* Rifle, Occulus Bolt Carbine, Bolt Carbine SMG, and the Auto Bolt Rifle. There are general fixes and tech improvements, too. In September, Saber Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits told IGN how the breakout success of Space Marine 2 had “changed everything” for the company. Eagle-eyed fans have spotted the Space Marine chapter now all-but confirmed to get a cosmetic pack after the Dark Angels, too. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Update 4.5 patch notes:BALANCING TWEAKS Weapons (Operations mode only) PLASMA INCINERATOR Slightly reduced amount of heat generated by normal and charged shots for versions: - Master-Crafted - Alpha - Salvation of ****** - Alpha - Gathalamor Crusade - Alpha Fixed a bug that would cause several versions not producing heat at all. BOLT ******* RIFLE ***** rate increased from 50 to 60 rounds per minute. Headshot bonus increased from x2 to x2.5. OCCULUS BOLT CARABINE Scope added Headshot bonus increased from x1 to x1.33 BOLT CARABINE (SMG) Adjusted damage falloff curve: Base damage increased by 50% for the first 10 meters, after that, the damage drops to the original pre-patch value. TECH IMPROVEMENTS - ****** fixes and general stability improvements. - Fixed server disconnects with unstable user connection. - General connectivity improvements. The longer I play and write about videogames, the more I feel like they can often be separated into two types: you have games that are driven by intricate and smart mechanics, and games that have great aesthetics and atmosphere. Personally, I prefer the latter type. I don't care if something is simple or even repetitive to play, just so long as it looks good and the mood is right. But the greatest games do both. Mixing the granular strategy of FTL, the colorful, pixel style revived by Sea of Stars, and the road trip overtones and turn-based encounters of classic Fallout, Keep Driving is the greatest RPG I've played in 2024, and available to try right now. Once a neglected VALORANT agent, Neon was heavily buffed in Patch 8.11. The changes were too much, with her wreaking havoc in the meta. But now that Riot Games has put on its thinking cap to bring “adjustments,” fans are worried—and for good reason. Addressing community-wide concerns about Neon’s overpowered state, VALORANT game designer penguin announced on X (formerly Twitter) the dev team’s ongoing efforts to clip the *********’s wings. “For what it’s worth – we agree that Neon is too strong as well,” he said. In Civilization 6, Age of Empires, and a lot of classic strategy games, you experience combat at the macro level. Victory in battle means sending mass-produced units into the meat grinder of war until your opponent runs out of money, people, or both.
