This Halloween season in Destiny 2, Guardians may end up never looking better. Or spookier, at least. The results are in for this year’s armor vote for players to suit up for the season. The Titan class had the closest vote in this year’s Festival of the Lost vote in Destiny 2, with 53 percent voting for the winner, the Jason Voorhees-like Slasher skin that features a hockey mask, chains, and armor meant to look like the Friday the 13th character’s normal wardrobe of brown pants and a blue coat. Not even one week into Marvel Rivals’ season one, some players are getting fed up with a particular team composition setup that can be a pain to deal with in Competitive play. While Rivals has largely been a hit with players the world over, there are some concerns about balancing, especially considering it launched with a massive roster of 33 characters, and has plans to add more every six weeks or so. And current balancing has created an issue for fun, according to some. A Jan. 16 Reddit thread highlighted the problem with playing against or with teams that are running three Strategists (namely Luna Snow, Mantis, and Cloak & Dagger) whose ultimates are basically just teamfight winners at best, and stall tactics at worst. The Hi-Rez development team wanted SMITE 2 to be far different from the original SMITE game, and a significant way they’ve done this is through the Strength and Intelligence stats. These have changed from the first game, and now every character in SMITE 2 has them. You gain Strength and Intelligence as you purchase items from the store during a match. What items you buy determines the playstyle of the god you’re playing as, and the playstyle might even change as you progress through a game. The key is knowing if you should lean more toward relying on Strength or Intelligence-based items while you play, which can be confusing about what matters more for you. Here’s a thorough breakdown on how the Strength and Intelligence stats work in SMITE 2, and the best way you can figure out which ones you should get. View the full article

Blade Chimera is a cyberpunk metroidvania from Team Ladybug, the team behind the really very good Touhou Luna Nights and Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth. As with Deedlit - one of our favourite 'vanias - I’m drawn to it partly for the opulent real-time RPG combat, and partly because, to be very superficial, the protagonist is taller than I’m used to in games like this. Sometimes he feels too tall for the levels. Read more View the full article

Image: The Verge, Nintendo Nintendo has finally revealed the Switch 2 — but it didn’t reveal everything. Even still, the new console looks pretty much like a *******, more refined Switch. Sure, that’s the straightforward and expected move from Nintendo. But it’s also exactly what I’ve been waiting for. The first Switch was a revelation. When it launched, I marveled over being able to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on my TV and then take the console out of the dock and play in handheld mode curled up on the couch. Nintendo absolutely nailed the execution of combining its console and portable expertise into one great device, and ever since, the Switch has been a constant companion at home and while traveling. I would have been disappointed if Nintendo messed with what worked for the Switch with the Switch 2. I’m glad it has a ******* screen, one that appears to be even larger than the seven-inch display on the OLED Switch. I’m guessing the taller Joy-Cons will be easier to hold, which could be a massive improvement for my hands, and attaching them from the side looks like it could be easier than sliding them up and down. The second USB-C port on the top will be a very welcome addition for easier... Read the full story at The Verge. View the full article

Marvel Rivals’ domination of the gaming scene has been something to behold over the last month-plus, with seemingly everybody addicted to the free-to-play hero shooter. But when it seems like everybody is playing the same game for an extended ******* of time, similar complaints start to mount.
