  1. The Fortnite X Cybertruck collaboration has been under fire recently after the owner of Tesla, Elon Musk, saluted to the crowd during his speech at President Trump’s inauguration. After seeing Musk’s controversial salutes, many in the Fortnite community on r/FortNiteBR have called for the Tesla Cybertruck to be banned from the Item Shop or removed entirely from the game. These demands arose after millions of people watching the speeches during Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20 saw Musk pounding his chest and lifting his arm in a saluting gesture. View the full article
  2. A new leak about Honkai: Star Rail 3.1 has emerged, highlighting a possible QoL (quality-of-life) update that is expected to arrive in the next patch, potentially helping players save a portion of their accounts if they suffer any mishaps regarding two types of items. Version 3.1 is the next update for HoYoverse’s turn-based RPG, which has just entered Version 3.0. The current patch is introducing players to the world of Amphoreus and its roster of characters, including the heroes of The Eternal Land, known as the Chrysos Heirs in Honkai: Star Rail. 4. Debate continues to rage on the internetworks about whether premium video games, and especially the ones with the largest budgets, need to have higher price tags. This time, the culprit is Matthew Ball of analyst firm Epyllion, who remarks in a sprawling State Of Videogaming 2025 report that "some gamemakers hope GTA 6 will be priced at $80-$100 [in the USA], breaking the $70 barrier and helping $50 titles to move up to $60, $60 to $70, $70 to $80, etc." Picked up by VGC, these comments have now been circulated on social media, and have attracted the extremely polarised mixture of responses you're probably expecting. Among those chipping in is Larian's director of publishing Michael Douse, who makes the familiar argument that overall prices for games like GTA aren't necessarily higher today when you factor in economic inflation, while also acknowledging that up-front price alone doesn't explain the industry's recent mass livelihood devastation, and that few people would happily pay that much for a video game - not even Our Lord In Open Worlding GTA. 5. Or months ago, maybe. I don't know and I have no time to check, because I'm playing the Steam demo for The King Is Watching. I wrote about it last year, but that was an older demo build. Things were different then, but the core of this minimalist city builder strategy remains: you'll need to actively train your kingly eyes on your feckless underlings if you want them to do any work. Don't watch the wheat fields, no food. Don't watch the barracks, no knights. You'll need those knights to defend from attacks too. Do you see how it all connects?! Do you?! Please, do your research. Here's a trailer to help: Read more View the full article
  6. With VALORANT Patch 10.1 set to go live soon, we’ve got your back if you’re looking for a list of all upcoming agent, map, and gameplay changes to prepare yourself. Being the first update since the new V25 Act One dropped in early January, Patch 10.1 understandably isn’t a big one. That said, it includes a crucial new addition to our ranked experience alongside several bug fixes to maintain and improve a balanced meta in the tac shooter. The patch is scheduled for release on Jan. 21. You can download it right after Riot Games completes server maintenance. View the full article
  7. Faker, arguably the greatest League of Legends player of all time, is on the verge of setting another gargantuan record for playing 1,000 LCK matches within the span of 12 years. The legendary mid laner has had a decorated career by winning 10 LCK, two Mid-Season Invitational, and five World Championship titles. On Jan. 23, Faker and T1 will face the likes of KT Rolster in an iconic Telecom War to conclude his 1,000 LCK match. View the full article
  8. Mark Hertel took first place at the renowned Las Vegas Open Warhammer 40k Championship on Sunday, beating Ben Neal's Space Marines with the elite Deathwatch. It's a show of skill from the tournament master, and a vote of confidence for a faction that was all but wiped out of the rules of Warhammer 40k for several months in 2024. 9. Fortnite‘s long-awaited Godzilla event is now in full swing, but the arrival of the fan-favorite kaiju has been largely disappointing due to one baffling decision. Godzilla’s presence in Fortnite matches is not guaranteed, with only a chance of a portal spawning to start a rush to be transformed into the behemoth—and that approach isn’t working for casual players like me. 10. New reports have indicated that the soon-to-be-released Nvidia RTX 5090 and 5080 will be quite hard to find at launch. The flagship and the next step-down cards appear to have been delivered at a fraction of the quantity of previous generations. The RTX 5090 and 5080 are Nvidia's now current generation powerhouses. Announced at CES 2025, these cards are just landing in reviewers' hands - including ours - but when it comes to buying them, these GPUs might be missing from stores. Read the rest of the story... 11. In the seven or eight hours it takes to complete the original Resident Evil 4, you will find more imagination, variety, and creative ambition than in any days-long open-world game. The mechanics are simple. The gunplay is clean. But it moves, with great energy and pace, from one visionary set piece to another. Resident Evil 9 is presumably in the pipeline. A remake of Code Veronica also seems possible. But if you're craving more RE and you've already dusted the superlative original Resident Evil 4 dozens of times, the remake is also an absolute blast. The 2005 game will always win out, but especially now that it's super cheap, the new Resident Evil 4 is a fantastic companion piece. Read the rest of the story... 13. I am finally hopeful for the release of Genshin Impact on a Nintendo console after the official announcement that the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware will be released later in 2025. Upon its release for PC and PlayStation 4 back in 2020, the action RPG by HoYoverse was announced for Nintendo Switch consoles in the future, which became something of an urban legend as the years went by. It’s been over four years since the game was released and there have been no indications that we’ll see Genshin Impact on Nintendo Switch anytime soon. View the full article
  14. Billionaire troll and part-time gamer Elon Musk raised more than a few eyebrows earlier this month when he streamed playing a high-level Path of Exile 2 character but, to the considerable mirth of viewers, didn't seem to have an understanding of the basic game mechanics. 16. The relaxing fish catchin' and scratchcard gamblin' of Webfishing proved itself deeply attractive to anyone looking for an easygoing escape. So it makes sense at least one other developer is looking to apply the same lo-fi principles to their own "hangout game". The simply titled Sledding Game looks like a chill afternoon of standing around on mountains with your mates and going for a big slide downhill every now and again. It's still early in development, as you can tell from the trailer below. But you'll be able to embody penguins, frogs, and polar bears as they drink hot cocoa in log cabins and ragdoll into one another ******-nilly. Other cute animals are to be confirmed, but I am putting my money on an dopey-faced ermine. Read more View the full article

  18. After a low-key announcement at CES 2025, AMD has given an update on when to expect its next-generation graphics cards. The new AMD Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT now have a launch month, according to David McAfee, vice president and general manager of Ryzen and Radeon at AMD. The next major graphics card launch from AMD has already been hit with a quagmire of confusion. While both the Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT were expected to be announced with big fanfare on stage at CES 2025, they got barely more than a passing mention. There were plenty of Radeon RX 9070 XT cards on the show floor, though, and we even managed to conduct an FSR 4 test on one of the new cards at the show. Read the rest of the story... 19. Marvel Snap is now back online in the U.S. after it was banned alongside TikTok, and its developer Second Dinner is looking for a new publisher to ensure another takedown doesn't happen in the future. Today, January 21, marks "the start of a new era for Marvel Snap," according to Second Dinner, which posted on X/Twitter to announce the digital trading card game's return alongside the search for a new publisher. TikTok was banned in the U.S. on January 19 over "national security concerns" but was brought back online after around 14 hours. TikTok owner ByteDance owns Marvel Snap publisher Nuverse too, so the game was also taken down but took a little longer to come back online. "Marvel Snap is back online in the U.S," Second Dinner said. "But to make sure this never happens again, we’re working to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher. This is the start of a new era for Marvel Snap. "We know this probably leaves you with even more questions than answers. We appreciate your patience, but in the meantime enjoy playing Marvel Snap. We’ll continue to update with more information as soon as possible." Marvel Snap arrived in 2022 as a fast-paced TCG featuring the likes of Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, and many other Marvel superheroes and villains. In our 8/10 review, IGN said: "Marvel Snap packs bold ideas, deep gameplay, a punchy presentation and lots of love for Marvel. Its approach to building a collection and randomness in gameplay won't be for everyone, but it's still well worth playing." Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. 22. Steam are throwing a Real-Time Strategy Fest this week, encompassing discounts and demos, and people who like clicking on Orc-emitting huts are eating well. Of the new strategy game demos I've spotted so far, the one that interests me most is Calyx, in which you are at war with a mass of alien vegetation, which expands toward your base in a blossoming, suffocating avalanche of green moss and purple tendril. It seems a bit raw at the level of controls and performance, but the concept is very promising: basically, imagine if Creeper World 4 were a bit more like Ground Control. Here's a trailer. 23. Hidden in the intricacies and mysteries of PUBG: Battlegrounds’ iconic map Erangel is a bunch of “Secret Rooms” players can break open for a chance to collect top-tier loot. That said, these rooms are only accessible using a Secret Room Key. What is the Secret Room (Basement) Key in PUBG? Before discussing the key, let’s talk about the room it’s created to protect. Secret Rooms in PUBG: Battlegrounds are hidden locations accessible through wooden entrances on the ground and contain rare loot. If you hope to find tier-three and crate loot in these rooms at all times, think again. Although you’ll get better loot in these rooms than in most other locations on the map, it might not always be worth the extra work you do to locate and unlock them. View the full article
