Of all the indies I covered last year, Jotunnslayer was definitely one of the most appetizing prospects I came across. Combining the dark and demonic aura of Diablo with a roguelike bullet hell such as Vampire Survivors, it sounded like a winning formula. A formula is one thing - executing on it is another. Like many indie survival games, cooking plays a major role in Aloft, so understanding how to do it will help you survive. Technically, you are never forced to eat in Aloft to stay alive. However, eating food will typically increase your maximum HP for a set time similar to food in Valheim. Some foods also provide other benefits, like the Hydrated or Energetic stat boost. While you can eat some things without cooking them, prepared recipes give larger buffs than raw ingredients. This means it is an advantage to know how to cook and what foods give you which benefits. Right around the release of the very successful Sonic the Hedgehog 3 last December, news hit that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was in the works, but at the time, the movie only had a spring 2027 release window. Sonic films have drawn all-star cast members over the years, such as Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, who has played the role in all three of the movies, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow. And a post-credits scene for the third movie hints that other fan favorites could join the series (spoilers in that link!), so there might be big casting announcements ahead for the fourth Sonic film. No, you’re not experiencing a flashback. The Materia hop-ups from last year’s Apex Legends x Final Fantasy crossover are back for another round in the Lunar Rebirth event, and knowing their effects can give you a leg up in pubs. The Final Fantasy 7-inspired nod also gives players the opportunity to use the Buster Sword R2R5 which comes with its own melee moveset, and opens up the Limit Break function, alongside Materia hop-ups which improve every gun with special abilities. This time, however, the weapon and Materia are not found scattered around the map or in Cacticks, but instead are found by breaking open the Gift from the Rift loot ticks marked on every player’s minimap. A video on Nintendo’s Switch 2 website shows how the trigger (or is it a button?) on the back of the Joy-**** controllers disconnects them from the console, as spotted by Polygon. In the video, the trigger is pressed down a tad before a final push releases it from the console. As the Joy-**** moves away, you can also see a small cylinder receding back into the top part of the inside of the controller; to me, that indicates that when you push the trigger, you’re actually pushing out that cylinder to help bump the Joy-**** out. After 14 years, EA will retire its controversial Origin game distribution app for Windows, the company announced. Origin will stop working on April 17, 2025. Folks still using it will be directed to install the newer EA app, which launched in 2022. The launch of Origin in 2011 was a flashpoint of controversy among gamers, as EA—already not a beloved company by this point—began pulling titles like Crysis 2 from the popular Steam platform to drive players to its own launcher. Frankly, it all made sense from EA's point of view. For a publisher that size, Valve had relatively little to offer in terms of services or tools, yet it was taking a big chunk of games' revenue.
