  1. A new Amphoreus update added to Honkai: Star Rail proves that developer HoYoverse needs to revisit its previous destinations’ maps and add it. Version 3.0 arrived earlier this year, bringing forth a series of modifications and new gameplay mechanics to the turn-based RPG. Some of the most notable ones are the time control mechanic, as well as Remembrance as a new playable Path. In addition to that, Version 3.0 also introduced Amphoreus to Honkai: Star Rail, a brand-new and mysterious destination, also known as The Eternal Land, where the majority of this year’s narrative content will take place and develop. 2. Former PlayStation executive Adam Boyes has praised Microsoft’s “agile” gaming strategy and claimed that there are ‘no victims’ in Xbox’s multiplatform era. Boyes – known by many for PlayStation’s infamous ‘how to share games’ PS4 video – was PlayStation’s vice president of third-party relations between 2012 and 2016. More recently, he was co-CEO of Iron Galaxy, and he recently founded consultancy firm Vivrato. Speaking in an interview with Gamertag Radio, Boyes was asked for his opinion on Microsoft’s increased focus on multiplatform releases. Multiple former Xbox exclusives have recently been announced for PS5, most recently Forza Horizon 5, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and boss Phil Spencer has said there are “no red lines” for what could come next. 4. Nightdive's remaster of Doom + Doom 2 has given me hours of sweet ******-blasting joy since it launched in the middle of last year. I dropped in only yesterday to clarify a hazy memory of a particular level, and lost a good forty minutes to disemboweling imps with a shotgun in glorious 4K, Andrew Hushult's thunderous riff on the E1M1 theme thrashing in my ears. Never mind the days I spent last year picking through John Romero's episodes Sigil and Sigil 2, or the ferociously difficult new campaign by MachineGames, Legacy of Rust... 7. Butcher's Creek should have been named Kill Streak. I mean, what else would you name a game about a man on a naked axe-******* rampage through a cult compound? Released just a few days ago, it's the sort of short, low-fi and pointedly horrible experience that its lone developer David Szymanski (Dusk, Iron Lung, Squirrel Stapler) is increasingly known for. Filthy, rusty, rough-edged horror adventures of movie length or less. Just long enough to get under your skin and have you turning them over in your head for a while... That room is the chapel to Yoba, an area that feels a little out of place in the rustic Pelican Town with its gold decorations and religious implications. View the full article
