Eventually, Civilization 6 became the biggest and perhaps most-loved 4X game of its era. With its legacy more or less guaranteed now, it's easy to forget that at one time, Civ 6 had some pretty major shortcomings. The AI would constantly start wars and the user interface bombarded you with alerts and pop ups. The point being, over time, Firaxis made Civ 6 much better, and while Civilization 7 might be starting from a weaker launch, there is still every chance that it can become the strategy game that people want. Release day is here and Steam reviews are still down, but the new Civilization 7 patch may mark the beginning of a recovery. Read the rest of the story... Riot Games has had a challenging couple of weeks, although many would attribute it to its own actions. The developer doubled down on removing Hextech chests, and it’s also figuring out how to balance its newest League of Legends champion, Mel. In Patch 15.S1.4, League’s new release is receiving even more nerfs as Riot looks to tackle the excessive ban rate in solo ******. At the time of writing, Mel has a ban rate of 73.2 percent in Platinum and above, according to LeagueOfGraphs. Riot Phroxzon released their latest patch preview onto X (formerly Twitter) last night, highlighting Mel as one of the champions hitting the nerf bench. View the full article
Is Civilization 7 Steam Deck compatible? This latest 4X game from the iconic Sid Meier series follows its predecessor in being a fantastic game to play on the Steam Deck, but goes one step further in gaining official verification. However, once you're deep into a save and chasing world domination, the turns can get elongated as the dated hardware struggles with the demands. The Civilization 7 system requirements always gave the impression that the game wouldn't struggle to run on the best handheld gaming PC, but compatibility isn't always about graphics. Luckily Civilization 7, like its predecessor, has controller support and adjustable text sizing, meaning it ports over well to the Steam Deck. Read the rest of the story... It is I, the guy who has only played Mechabellum playing his second autobattler, and getting strong Mechabellum vibes from it. Except, actually no, not at all. He Is Coming, from Chronocle and noted good game recognisers Hooded Horse, is actually a kinda sorta classic roguelike RPG. You'll be shuffling over a Commodore 64-tified overworld map, grabbing treasure, bumping foes that move when you do, and turn-based autobattling them. Got wounded? Maybe have a nice rest at that campfire. Not too long, you slovenly wastrel! You're actually on the clock: the 'he' of the title refers to the menagerie of boss creatures that turn up after a set time. The idea is to use your time wisely to prepare for the big fight, getting stronger without getting whittled down too much. Read more View the full article

The creative director of Assassin’s Creed Shadows says he doesn’t think players are “missing out” if they favour one of the game’s two protagonists. Shadows allows players to control either the ninja Yaoe or the samurai Yasuke, with the former offering stealth and speed, and the latter being focused more on brute strength attacks. While players can switch between Yaoe and Yasuke throughout the course of the game, creative director Jonathan Dumont says they shouldn’t have to worry on missing large swathes of content if they’d rather play mainly as a single character. I don't play many visual novels, but I've played enough to know that Of The ****** is hot. Hot like the sizzle of rain through a neon signboard as a dull-eyed redhead walks into a cyberpunk police station at 3am and starts throwing around Chandlerisms like she's boiling an egg - and you're the egg. "Information's like cash in my line of work," says the dame, who is a freelance lawyer called Morgan. "You've got to spend it to make it." She sizes up the holographic front desk, with its sprinkling of things to OBSERVE. "Let's see if I can't poke around and shake some change loose." Read more View the full article

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently discussed GTA 6 and seemingly teased that a GTA 6 PC port is in the cards. The video game landscape has changed significantly in the years since GTA 5 released. Even back then, people were already riled up that the game didn't launch on PC alongside PS3 and Xbox 360 — yes, those were the consoles GTA 5 was made for. In an interview with IGN, Take-Two's big boss talked about the big elephant in the room, Rockstar's plans to make GTA 6 for PC a reality. Zelnick has mentioned how Rockstar has never gone for simultaneous releases. "Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.” And PC was never included in the initial release. Still, Aside from Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis, every other big Rockstar title eventually made it into the PC — yes, even the original Red Dead Redemption — 14 long years later. On top of coming to the PC, Zelnick mentioned how GTA 6 will likely also release on the upcoming console generation. "We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that trend continue," he said. "Of course, there will be a new console generation". GTA 6 is expected to make over $3 billion in its first year of *****, which is even higher than GTA 5's already spectacular numbers. At this point, it's less of a matter of "if", and more a matter of "when", since there's no way Take-Two would miss out on the huge and still booming PC Gaming market. Until then, we'll check out GTA 6 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S when it releases sometime during Fall of 2025. The post Take-Two’s boss talks GTA 6 for PC appeared first on Destructoid. The days may come, and the world may spin, but you? You need only dig. A Game About Digging A Hole is a game about digging a hole. The edge of the observable universe is about 45.7 billion light years away in all directions, which is just a really big number to brains designed more for counting bananas than the number of galaxies that volume could hold. Galaxies contain billions of stars, and at this point we're fairly confident planets are incredibly common around them. The number of galaxies, stars, and planets becomes another of those really big numbers that sounds impressive but is too big to have much meaning, but in all of that there's only one Earth. People evolved to live specifically within its environments rather than the endless expanse of the universe, so when a few spots open up for industrious space-laborers to move planetside they dig in and start producing, working to earn their way to a home they've only dreamed about.
