Bosses have long been a cornerstone of FromSoftware's action RPGs, and Elden Ring Nightreign is leaning heavily on that pedigree. The game itself is largely an asset flip from Elden Ring, though that doesn't mean Nightreign is derivative. Using remixed locations, enemies, and bosses, Nightreign is a session-based action roguelite, primarily designed around teams of three players. Seeing enemies from Elden Ring is unsurprising, since Nightreign takes place in a parallel world to its predecessor, but Nightreign also notably includes bosses from previous FromSoftware titles, including at least one from all three Dark Souls games. There are barely any Adaptive Burst sidearms in Destiny 2, and those we have are incredibly old with outdated perks. If you’re looking for a Stasis primary, Destiny 2 reprised one of the Iron Banner sidearms, Peacebond. Peacebond is a Stasis Adaptive Burst (three-burst) sidearm that returned to Destiny 2 in Heresy. It retained its element, but a refreshed perk pool allows you to lean more into Stasis synergy. The reprised version also lost a bunch of less popular perks, making the pool more condensed. The Dead By Daylight community has always enjoyed a healthy debate about balance issues, bugs, and exploits, and it looks like Behaviour Interactive has finally taken player frustrations on board. Dead By Daylight is about to undergo a series of “quality of life” changes, but will they make any real difference? Before we move on to the ******* and more controversial stuff, a few smaller changes promise to polish up player experiences. There will be extra perk loadout slots, which is great news. Map offerings will be secret and no longer guarantee the next realm but instead grant a 20 percent chance increase. Daily Rituals and Rift challenges will be streamlined to make the system less of a grind. Speaking of reducing the grind, at last we have a change coming to spending Bloodpoints. Now, players will be able to bulk spend Bloodpoints as they level up. Niantic is reportedly putting its games division up for *****, according to a Feb. 19 report from Bloomberg, with a potential deal between Niantic Inc. and Scopely Inc. that enters the realm of $3.5 billion. Call of Duty's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover looks set to cost up to $90's worth of COD Points in order to obtain all the items — and the community is now saying Activision should just make ****** Ops 6 free-to-play at this point. Activision unveiled the ****** Ops 6 Season 02 Reloaded content coming to the shooter on February 20, and detailed the mid-season Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover in the process. Each of the four turtles (Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael) has their own premium bundle. Based on previous collaborations, these bundles are expected to cost 2,400 COD Points, or $19.99, each. So, if you want all four turtles you face the prospect of handing over $80’s worth of COD Points. But that’s not all. As it did with the controversial Squid Game crossover, Activision has created a premium event pass for the Turtles crossover, which costs 1,100 COD Points / $10. This includes a number of eye-catching cosmetics, chief among them Splinter. Again, there is no other way of getting Splinter than paying the $10 for the premium track of the event pass. The free track includes two Foot Clan soldier skins, among other cosmetics. As many have pointed out, the Turtles crossover is heavy on the cosmetics but does not feature gameplay affecting items. No-one has to buy any or all of it to compete in ****** Ops 6 multiplayer. And there are many within the community saying it's easy to ignore Call of Duty crossovers like the Turtles one and leave those willing to spend more to it. But that hasn’t stopped some players within the community from criticizing Activision once again for the high cost of these cosmetics, and are saying this second ever Call of Duty premium event pass suggests ****** Ops 6 is now being monetized as if it were a free-to-play game like Fortnite. “Activision casually glossing over the fact that they want you to pay $80+ if you want the 4 Turtles, plus another $10+ if you want the TMNT event pass rewards,” redditor II_JangoFett_II said. “Call of Duty's Gross greed strikes again... DESPICABLE!” “Guess we can expect an event pass sold every season now,” Hipapitapotamus suggested. “Remember when events were good and got you cool universal camos for free.” "The Turtles don’t use guns," APensiveMonkey declared. "Their fingers wouldn’t even... I hate this..." It’s worth going into more detail on how Activision monetizes ****** Ops 6. Each season brings with it a new battle pass, the base version of which costs 1,100 COD Points / $9.99. There’s an extra premium version of the battle pass, called BlackCell, which costs $29.99 (you can’t buy this one with COD Points). Then there is a constant stream of cosmetics available to buy from the store. The Turtles crossover, with its premium event pass, is on top of all this. “So they expect the playerbase to buy the game itself, buy the battle pass/****** cell and now this? Na that's too much,” PunisherR35 added. “If this is gonna be the norm moving forward, CoD needs to move to a FTP model (campaign, MP).” In truth, Activision’s aggressive monetization of Call of Duty is nothing new. It’s just that the new premium event pass, which made its debut with ****** Ops 6’s Squid Game crossover, has pushed some fans over the edge. And as has been pointed out many times before, the standardized monetization across the $70 ****** Ops 6 and the free-to-play battle royale Warzone does ****** Ops 6 no favors. What might be acceptable for Warzone given it’s free-to-play isn’t necessarily acceptable for ****** Ops 6, given it costs $70 just to be able to play Multiplayer. And that’s where the calls for ****** Ops 6 Multiplayer to go free-to-play come from. With each new microtransaction Call of Duty Multiplayer feels more and more like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Marvel Rivals, and of course Warzone. Activision and parent company Microsoft will of course stick to its guns, given Call of Duty’s incredible popularity. ****** Ops 6 was the biggest Call of Duty launch ever, and set a new single day Game Pass subscription record. Sales on PlayStation and Steam jumped 60% compared to 2023's Modern Warfare 3. Clearly, Call of Duty is doing the business for Activision and new owner Microsoft, which the financial officers will no doubt be delighted with given the Xbox maker paid an eye-watering $69 billion for the company. It was choppy, unreliable, and populated almost entirely by screamy mic spammers, but my word, do I miss the days of Half-Life Deathmatch Source. It's one of the enduring images of my own PC gaming past - a team of HLDM Source players, all wearing the G-Man skin, sprinting through the ****** Mesa lab map and coating the walls with satchel charges. In what might be one of the strangest peripheral announcements that I can remember, Ubisoft has chosen to partner with Lexip for its Assassin's Creed Shadows range of PC gaming gear. This isn't the first time that Ubisoft has opted to avoid huge names in the peripheral world to produce licensed gear, and the designs from Lexip are certainly striking, but the gear itself is incredibly disappointing when compared to modern alternatives. While Lexip isn't a name many will associate with the best gaming headset, mouse, controller, or any peripheral, really, credit has to be given to the effort that has gone into the design of the peripherals revealed so far. Assassin's Creed Shadows is due out next month, and now you can prepare for it with these branded PC gaming peripherals, and even bag a copy of the game in one of the bundles, all of which are available on Amazon. Initial details about some of the character rerun banners in Honkai: Star Rail 3.2 have leaked and, as elusive as the information may be, the prediction may actually make a lot of sense based on where the game is heading within the next few patches. There are a number of 'Ancient Memories' to track down in Avowed's various regions. Each one provides some contextual lore and grants you with another Godlike ability. Unfortunately, they're not the easiest things to track down. Here's where to find The Voice's memory in Emerald Stair and what Godlike ability it rewards you with. Emerald Stair Ancient Memory location in Avowed The Ancient Memory can be found at the top of the Ranger Outpost. This is west of Fior mes Iverno, and north of the 'Low Forest Clearing Beacon' fast travel point. I've marked the exact location in the screenshot below. Screenshot by Destructoid To reach the Emerald Stair Ancient Memory, make your way to the top of the tower by using the various ladders and ledges. The first thing you'll need to find is the wooden ramp leading up to a ladder at the foot of the tree that the Ranger Outpost is built around. However, one thing to keep in mind is the region might have changed if you've already completed the 'Ancient Soil' quest. Without diving into spoilers too much, the Steel Garotte might have a larger presence in Emerald Stair. As a result, you might have to fight them on your way to the top of the Ranger Outpost. They're not that challenging though, so it shouldn't slow you down or stop you from reaching the memory at the top. The Ancient Memory can be found on the ledge, right at the top between two large braziers. You can see exactly where in the screenshot below. Screenshot by Destructoid Interact with it and you'll get more contextual lore to your relationship with 'The Voice' as a Godlike. Once the cutscene is finished, you'll be awarded with a new Godlike power. This is 'Remembrance of Enhekala' a passive ability that increases your maximum essence by 10%. This is particularly useful if you're a big fan of using Godlike abilities, Grimoire spells, or Wand attacks. Even if you use these as a backup to your trusty melee weapon, a 10% increase to your maximum essence will save you from running out as frequently. Then, go to the Snow Village and interact with the Rimuru NPC on top of an iceberg. You can earn Gems easily by equipping the best title you have and then selling materials at the Adventure Shop. Defeating Bosses also awards you with a lot of Gems. How to Get ****** Lord Title, ****** Cores, and Tempest Ore in Verse Piece You can start the Tempest Dungeon at the Spawn Dungeon NPC on Runes Island You can get the ****** Lord title by defeating the Rimuru Boss in the Tempest Dungeon Only the Rimuru Boss in Tempest Dungeon drops Tempest Ore All enemies in the Tempest Dungeon have a chance of dropping ****** Cores [/url] [/url] [/url] As for the other Rimuru components in Verse Piece, you will have to run numerous Tempest Dungeons to get them. Marvel Rivals developer NetEase Games caught players by surprise on Feb. 18 when former U.S. employees announced on LinkedIn that they had been laid off. All six members of the Marvel Rivals U.S. team were let go, according to a former employee’s comment to Destructoid. These employees were actively involved in the game’s development. "We want to reassure our fanbase that the core development team for Marvel Rivals [...] in Guangzhou, China, remains fully committed to delivering an exceptional experience," NetEase Games wrote to Destructoid in a statement about the layoffs. Marvel Rivals layoffs came at an odd time On the same day the layoffs were revealed, NetEase confirmed that The Thing and Human Torch will be joining Marvel Rivals, reinforcing that the game remains in active development. The layoffs also came just weeks after Blizzard acknowledged that Marvel Rivals' success is pressuring the Overwatch 2 team, as it emerges as a major competitor in the hero shooter space once dominated by Blizzard. While Blizzard still views its competitor as "similar" to Overwatch 2, the company has not directly echoed former Blizzard leadership’s claims that Marvel Rivals is copying Overwatch. Marvel Rivals is this year's current free-to-play PC game success story, attracting many millions of players over its opening weekend and making regular appearances in the Steam Most Played top 10 ever since. It garnered an estimated $136 million in January. So naturally, it's time to start laying people off. Last night, one of the project's game directors, Thaddeus Sasser, revealed that an undisclosed number of US-based NetEase Games employees had been dismissed, including level designers Gary McGee and Jack Burrows. NetEase have now confirmed the news, calling it a move to "optimize development efficiency" and assuring players that they "are investing more, not less, into the evolution and growth of this game".
