  8. The March Humble Choice games are here, and there are some real hidden gems for Steam Deck among them. While there is an absence of any triple-A big hitters in this month's lineup, the selection of smaller or indie games is ideal for Valve's handheld. All but one of this month's games are rated verified or playable for the best handheld gaming PC, but even the one game that is classed as "Unsupported" still works great after a few settings tweaks. The Steam Deck continues to be a leader in the handheld market, and even though we're waiting for more news on a Steam Deck 2, the current model still has more than enough power to tackle many modern games. 9. Breathe out, untense your muscles, and relax, because after years of being lost in the wilderness AMD has finally come up with a decent GPU for an amazing price. I don't have to reach for obscure use cases to suggest scenarios where the new AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is actually worth buying, because this time AMD has genuinely come up with the goods, with a graphics card that largely beats Nvidia at its own game. It might not have an equivalent of Nvidia's latest multi frame gen tech at its disposal, but this new GPU sees AMD catching up with Nvidia in several key areas. For a start, ray tracing is no longer an issue, with the Radeon RX 9070 XT even out-performing the RTX 5070 in a number of our ray-traced benchmarks, and it can do path tracing too. Secondly, AMD's new FSR 4 tech is an absolute game changer when it comes to upscaling, with a massive improvement in image quality over FSR 3. I've tested the Radeon RX 9070 XT in several games, testing frame gen, upscaling, ray tracing and standard rasterization, and it all adds up to a firm new entry on our guide to the best graphics card. It's not all perfect, as I'll explain over this review of the ASRock Taichi OC version of this card, but this is AMD's strongest GPU for over a decade by far. 10. Jensen Huang made a startling claim about the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 when he paraded its talents at CES in January 2025. This $549 gaming GPU, said Huang, was as fast as the mighty RTX 4090, thanks to the magic of Nvidia's new multi frame gen tech with DLSS 4. There were echoes of when the RTX 3070 was genuinely as fast as the RTX 2080 Ti when it came out, but this time it's all down to AI wizardry rather than raw rendering power. Nvidia has bet the house on AI for its current generation of RTX 5000 GPUs, and the lack of competition had undoubtedly helped it so far. In our RTX 5090 review, we found a GPU that may be extremely expensive and power-hungry but is still ultimately the best graphics card you can buy, if you can afford it and assuming you can find 5090 stock. The situation is less clear cut with the RTX 5070, which has ended up being released in March, rather than February as originally planned, and now finds itself fending off some ferocious competition from AMD. The RTX 5070 still has multi frame gen in its arsenal, of course, as well as wide support for Nvidia DLSS tech in games, plus the enormous brand recognition that Nvidia now commands in the graphics card market. Is that enough? I've benchmarked this Asus Prime RTX 5070 card in a number of games, including multi frame gen tests, to find out. [site_jumplinks] Read the rest of the story... 12. With multiple changes to Exotic weapons and armor flying into Destiny 2 with Episode Heresy, including reworks of D.A.R.C.I. and Lord of Wolves, it feels like the right time to think about what other weapons are overdue for an update. Most of these weapons are severely underused in PvE (we’re not talking about PvP at all), and while some of them may have occasional use, they’re either too niche, don’t feel as fun and rewarding to play or feel out of place in the current sandbox. 14. There are a lot of quirky things about Marvel Rivals, but I really don’t get its MVP system. If you don’t either, you’ll love going through this popular Reddit thread, with fans trying to decode heroes who rarely get an MVP mention. To start off, the player who created the post thinks it’s Rocket Raccoon, and most of us seem to agree to this observation. In the comments, Rocket mains pointed out how they rarely receive the highest title in a Marvel Rivals match because they only have the highest healing and assists in the match and little to no damage dealt. 20. A free event is coming to Destiny 2 for the third Act of Episode: Heresy. Much like the beloved event that preceded The Final Shape expansion, the upcoming Rite of the Nine adds coveted holofoil variant weapons, a new social space, and a fresh breath of life into the game. Just before The Final Shape, all Guardians got to experience Into the Light. The Into the Light event added the Onslaught horde mode to Destiny 2 and first introduced the concept of holofoil, or shiny, weapon variants. The event was a big success, and now it looks like Bungie is trying to recapture some of that energy for Rite of the Nine. A focus on Dungeons Image via Bungie YouTube Rite of the Nine will put players' focus on three Dungeons from Destiny 2's past: Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher, and Ghosts of the Deep. Bungie described how the event would allow Guardians to experience these Dungeons on their own terms, opting for a safer Explorer mode or ramping it up to the Contest Mode-like Ultimatum mode. Players will also get access to a returning social space, a repurposed The Third Spire locale from the Trials of the Nine. There, you'll be able to visit the Emissary for the Quests, Bounties, and rewards associated with the event. You can also see whatever Dungeon is currently featured while at The Third Spire, appearing off in the unreachable distance. The team indicated that one of the Dungeons would be featured each week, cycling through all after three weeks. The Third Spire is also where Guardians will go to attune to specific Dungeon weapons revamped for Rite of the Nine. Four armaments were selected from each Dungeon, getting a full Perk rework and retuning. This equipment can come in holofoil variants, harkening back to the shiny weapons from Into the Light or even the more recent Heretical weapons from The Nether. Bungie clarified that the Adept/holofoil variants of these Rite of the Nine weapons would only be earnable through Ultimatum mode, providing a little more incentive for players to go out and challenge themselves. While the team wasn't ready to share any definitive dates for Rite of the Nine, players can expect more information to come from Bungie as we get closer to the event. For now, players still have the second Act of Episode: Heresy on the immediate horizon. 21. Consumables in Monster Hunter Wilds are a core part of its gameplay loop. That's especially true as you approach the endgame. While all of them have their place, the best define how hunts begin and how quickly they end, which is why we're ranking them here today. The best consumables in Monster Hunter Wilds Screenshot by Destructoid For this list, I'll be ranking items from the Healing/Support crafting menu, which includes things like Mega Potions, Cool Drinks, ****** Drugs, and the like. I'll also be including items like Might and Adamant Seeds, as their effects stack. Let's get started. 15. Potions and First Aid Meds The humble Potion is the most basic consumable in the game. It doesn't heal much, takes forever to use without Skill buffs, and is usually only good to keep so you can craft more Mega Potions in quests. If you have no other heals in reserve, though, they can be the difference between hunting a monster and taking a cart back to camp. 14. Immunizer You don't always need to heal after taking damage. If your health bar is showing a line of red, you can simply wait for it to naturally recover. Immunizers increase the efficacy of that effect, and can save you resources if you take the time to let the effect occur. Immunizers are also a key ingredient in some invaluable consumables later in our list. 13. Herbal Medicine Where Antidotes are just Potions, but to cure Poison, Medicine pairs the lesser item's healing effect with a near instant Poison cleanse. Plus, its short use animation immediately puts Herbal Medicine above the more cumbersome items on this list. 12. Energy Drink Stamina consumption and management are key to the gameplay of some of the best weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds. And while an Energy Drink only restores a set amount of expended Stamina, it can be the difference between a good DPS phase and a bad one. That it wakes you up from sleep is nice, too. 11. Herbal Powder Screenshot by Destructoid The first of the AoE items on our list, Herbal Powder is a team-wide Poison cleanse with some mild healing effects. While not as immediately useful as other AoE items, if you're fighting a Rathian or some other monster that applies constant Poison, having a few Herbal Powders handy will win you a lot of friends. 10. Mega Potion The Mega Potion is the workhorse consumable in Monster Hunter Wilds, as it has been since time immemorial. Even top-level players rely on it at least a little bit early on, and it's a literal lifesaver for the rest of us. It's only number ten here becaus,e as ubiquitous as it is, its effects don't always completely change the course of a hunt — they only extend its timer. 9. Lifepowder Short of spec-ing into Wide Range and Free Meal, Lifepowder is one of the best ways to keep you and your team in the fight without sacrificing your damage output or your build's potential. It's not the most effective AoE heal on the list, but if it saves even a single cart during a co-op hunt, Lifepowder will have more than earned its crafting cost. 8. Might/Adamant Seed The Might and Adamant Seeds are the core ingredients in the more potent damage and defense buffs in Monster Hunter Wilds. They're also much more abundant than those potions, and their effects stack, making them useful at any point in the game. The only thing holding them back is their limited duration. 7. Demondrug/Armorskin Screenshot by Destructoid The lesser form of the stat-boosting potions in Monster Hunter Wilds, Demondrug and Armorskin are nonetheless staples of pre-hunt preparations. You'll use them as soon as you arrive at your destination, and they increase your damage or defense for a good chunk of the fight. 6. Dash Juice I said Stamina management is invaluable to being an effective hunter, and Dash Juice makes that job a bit less troublesome. Between giving back Stamina on consumption, it also makes actions that consume Stamina use less of it, letting you dodge, block, and use a Bow more effectively, among other benefits. 5. ******/Hardshell Powder Another staple of the pre-hunt ritual is the use of ****** or Hardshell Powder while everyone is close together. The bonus it provides to attack and defense is significant despite its relative brevity. And like all other AoE items, you'll be a hero to the rest of your party if playing co-op. Don't rule out its usefulness while solo, either. 4. Dust of Life As the best AoE heal in the game, you can only carry two units of Dust of Life in your field pouch at a time. Those two uses might also be the deciding factor of whether your healer — with their Wide Range and Free Meal — get to use their last Mega Potion before an Elden Dragon slaps them sideways. 3. Ancient Potion The most powerful healing item in all of Monster Hunter Wilds, the Ancient Potion fills both your Health and Stamina bars to their maximum length. You can only carry one of them at a time as a bit of game balance, and they're an item of last resort. What holds them back on this list is, in most situations, they're best used outside of a hunt to get yourself back ikn fighting form, particularly after a cart. They're also cumbersome to craft outside of a tent. 2. Mega Demondrug/Armorskin Screenshot by Destructoid If you have access to the materials to make them, every hunt you go on should start with consuming a Mega Demondug and Mega Armorskin. Well, every hunt you know will actually be a challenge. For me, their use is mandatory, both as a matter of habit and because they offer more damage for very little additional investment. All you need is a solid collection of materials, which you should have by the endgame when these potions become invaluable. 1. Max Potion The Max Potion, otherwise known as the first heal you should use in a hunt at or near the endgame. You can consume them faster than a Mega Potion; they grant a full heal, and their crafting ingredients are relatively easy to gather. Sure, Mega Potions are more available, and Ancient Potions are more powerful, but nothing in my six years with the Monster Hunter series has saved my sorry behind more often than chomping down on a Max Potion after taking a massive dragon laser to the face. Those are my rankings for the best consumables in Monster Hunter Wilds. All of them make hunting a less onerous experience, but the cream of the crop turn hopeless situations into winnable ones. 22. The Magic: The Gathering card Inti, Seneschal of the Sun is starting to spike in price. This rare red card is still plenty cheap, but it has doubled in value since the latest set, Aetherdrift, came out, and still seems to be climbing. On February 14, the card cost $2, but now it's up to $4.
