  1. The RTX 4060 laptop GPU has been steadily gaining ground over the last few months in the Steam survey's GPU chart. It experienced the largest increase in users in April, up 0.51%, pushing the mobile Lovelace chip to the top spot with a 4.99% overall share. It's the first laptop... 2. Monoco is one of the quirkiest and most interesting playable characters in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, with nearly fifty unique skills that can only be acquired by collecting the feet of defeated Nevron enemies around the Continent. Monoco is the last playable character you can unlock and has a relatively limited weapon selection compared to the other main characters. However, his wide range of unlockable skills more than compensates for this and gives you a surplus of options to develop a Monoco build that fits your preferred playstyle. View the full article
  3. Assassin's Creed Shadows gets a lot right, especially when it comes to perfecting the Ubisoft formula. While it isn't a perfect game, and a lot of people seem to dislike it, its enormous commercial and critical success points to a more mature Ubisoft experience, not necessarily just in its narrative, but in the way the developer has gone about crafting its world and mechanics. It drops a lot of the bloat that made previous Ubisoft titles so frustrating to play and innovates where needed to create a pretty incredible open-world experience. View the full article

At the moment, the turn-based RPG is going through the second half of the patch and, because of Version 3.3’s beta tests, most of the information about the next update has already been either confirmed or leaked. Hyacine and Cipher, for example, have already been confirmed by developer HoYoverse, though each of their gameplay kits has only been leaked so far. Hyacine and Cipher in Honkai: Star Rail 3.3 will be the only new characters. View the full article

  7. I thought I'd have run out of good things to say about Clair Obscur Expedition 33 by now, but it just keeps delivering. The spectacular turn-based RPG from French studio Sandfall Interactive has taken the world by storm, managing to outpace the early sales of similar games such as Metaphor Refantazio, and has even eclipsed Oblivion Remastered's player count despite the Bethesda game's ******* launch. Now, more than a week after it first released, Expedition 33 continues to grow, to the point that it's managed to set a new record on the Valve platform. Read the rest of the story... 8. Us old-school rogue-likers are eating good. It feels like we've barely had time to digest the fantastic 'final' version of Caves Of Qud (there's more coming, of course), and already we've got another massive indie roguelike passion project to dive into. Approaching Infinity by micro-indie outfit Ibology has been in development for over twelve years now. It's a massive turn-based sandbox heavily inspired by classic Star Trek, and now freshly launched out of early access after many an update... Read more.View the full article
  9. For many, many years, I wouldn't get a new game console until a couple years after it launched. This was partly because I wanted any new console I bought to have a decent-sized library of things to play, and partly because it sometimes paid to sit back and see which console was going to "win" the generation in terms of first-party exclusives and third-party developer support. But mostly it was because, from the Atari VCS in the 70s all the way up through the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation in the 2010s, you could always count on game consoles getting cheaper as time went on. Those price reductions would often also come with internal tweaks and external redesigns—smaller or slimmer or otherwise improved versions of the console that made them superior to the originals (though you would occasionally lose a lesser-used feature or two along the way). But both of those things have mostly stopped. The last permanent price drop for a major home or portable console we could find came back in 2016, when the PS4 Slim launched and dropped the price of entry from $349 to $299 (this doesn't count the launch of new editions of consoles with reduced feature sets, like the New Nintendo 2DS in 2017 or $249 all-digital Xbox One in 2019). This generation, we've seen something that would have been unheard of a few years ago: price increases for consoles, including $50 extra for the new OLED edition of the Nintendo Switch in 2021, a $50 price hike for the slimmer disc-drive-less version of the PlayStation 5 in 2023, and $80 to $100 price hikes for the exact same unimproved versions of the Xbox Series S and X earlier this week. 10. Not everyone has years, weeks or even hours to commit to ****** slaughter. Not all of us can be Coincident, fighting through the armies of hell for six hours solid. Sometimes you've not even got a minute to spare, and if that's the case, I recommend seeking better work-life balance. 13. In October of 2024 science-fiction writer Matthew Kelsey Martineau accused Bungie of lifting ideas for its first Destiny 2 campaign from a story published on his blog under the pseudonym Caspar Cole. While some of the ideas in question are fairly generic sci-fi elements, like consciousness transfer and the use of emergency failsafes to prevent disasters, both storylines involve groups called the "Red Legion" who use flamethrowers and trained hounds of war. It's entirely possible that's a coincidence, but Bungie is struggling to prove it since all the relevant parts of Destiny 2 are now unplayable and tucked away in the 'vault'... 14. Tim Cain, lead developer of the original Fallout, recently lamented the loss of Fallout's earliest development materials. When he left Interplay he was told to delete his copies of early builds and even his notes from development meetings, and apparently Interplay has since lost not only the source code but also the original Fallout artwork and the clay models that were scanned to make the 3D talking heads some of its NPCs are blessed with... 15. At this point, everyone and their dog knows that Grand Theft Auto 6, the game primed to win 2025's Game of the Year award, has been delayed. It is news that has rocked the gaming world and shocked fans, something that didn't seem possible considering that practically everyone knew this was coming. Much like the Nintendo Switch 2, rumors and speculation had long since spoiled the revelation that GTA 6 would be delayed. That doesn't mean, however, that it hurts any less, especially for those who were eagerly anticipating it. View the full article

  20. Do you ever think to yourself, "gee, I wish that LA Noire actually looked like a noir film and also everyone is a furry"? Then boy howdy do I have the game for you: The Shadow Syndicate. It just got announced yesterday at the Gamescom Latam showcase, and I should say it's not exactly like LA Noire in that you don't have to try and read the faces of motion capture actors overperforming their hearts out. What it does have is some detective work, gunplay, and even some Max Payneish bullet-time. How can you not be into that mixture? Read more View the full article
  21. BitLife's DILK challenge is a little more chaotic than usual. For this challenge, you'll create a female doctor who has several children, gets to know a few new people, and even eliminates her own father. It's a lot to tackle, but we have the strategies you need for this challenge. Table of contentsBitLife DILK challenge guideBe born a femaleWork as a doctor or surgeonHook up with fathersHave children with your character's flingsEliminating your character's fatherBitLife DILK challenge guide BitLife’s DILK challenge has five tasks to complete: Be born a femaleWork as a doctor or surgeon for 15+ yearsHook up with 5+ fathersHave children with 3+ flings******* your own father You won't need any expansions or special career packs for this challenge. However, the Assassin's Blade, Golden Pacifier, and Time Machine can help, especially if you're struggling with the fifth task. Aside from these optional items, you mainly need luck for this challenge. Be born a female The first task of BitLife’s DILK challenge is to create a female character. You're free to choose any country, name, and special talent for your character. As long as she's born a female, you're good to go. If you want to make things easier later, you can recreate your character until she has high Smarts stats, but this is completely optional. The only thing you need to check is whether your character has a father. More importantly, he needs to survive until your character reaches adulthood so you can complete this challenge's fifth task. There are several ways to go about these tasks, but for now, you just need to focus on having a father who survives at least 14 years after you're born. Work as a doctor or surgeon Now that a quick warning is out of the way, it's time for some schooling. Once you graduate from secondary school, apply for university and choose programs like Chemistry or Biology. After studying for four years, enroll in Medical School and complete its program to become eligible to become a doctor. Alternatively, you can use BitLife's Golden Diploma to speed up the process. Screenshot by Destructoid Once you have a medical degree, enter the full-time job list and apply for a physician or surgeon role. It doesn't matter which you pick, as long as they fall within these two categories. Apply for the position and pass the interview to become a doctor. Now, you just need to work hard and keep the job for 15 years. Hook up with fathers This one can be a little tricky if you're unfamiliar with BitLife's hook-up mechanics. To hook up with someone, head into Activities, Love, and Hook Up before saying yes or no to whoever your character finds. Screenshot by Destructoid However, you won't know whether someone is a father until after the deed is done. You can find out by heading into Relationship, Exes, and selecting one of the NPCs your character previously interacted with. You'll find information including marital status, age, and whether they have any kids. Your best bet is to accept any offer until you engage with at least five fathers to knock out the challenge. Have children with your character's flings Earlier, we learned how your BitLife character can hook up with NPCs and determine whether they're fathers. Along the way, you can choose whether to use protection, helping to prevent pregnancy or any diseases from unexpectedly appearing. However, you'll want to say no to this offer three times so your character ends up pregnant, letting you have children with some flings. There's a chance you'll also catch diseases while doing this. You can reduce the odds by avoiding this with someone who "looks like they have craziness down there," but even then, it can still happen. You can either close and reopen the BitLife app before confirming the disease pop-up or visit a doctor and hope it's something you can cure. As long as you have at least three children, everything else is a side story you can tackle however you wish. Eliminating your character's father Your last task of BitLife's DILK challenge is to commit patricide. You'll unlock this option once your character turns 14, which you can initiate by heading into Activities, Crime, and *******. From here, you'll pick your character's father as the victim and an inconspicuous option, like drive-by or poison, as the method to reduce the odds of being caught. There are several obstacles you can encounter while completing this task. If your father passes from natural causes before you get the chance to do this, you'll have to try again or attempt this sooner. The police can also catch you, preventing you from becoming a doctor. If this happens, you can emigrate to another country and try again, or close and reopen the BitLife app before confirming the failed attempt to try again. You can also use the Assassin's Blade for a guaranteed elimination, but it costs real money. Once you work as a doctor or surgeon for 15 years, have a few children, and succeed with your elimination attempt, you'll complete BitLife’s DILK challenge, open a special prize box, and receive a cosmetic reward to use in future playthroughs. 23. Despite no marketing and a shadow drop that came out of seemingly nowhere for those not paying close attention to leaks, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredhas been an immense success for Bethesda. The studio has been getting acclaim for the work on the remaster, despite most of it being done by Virtuos, and this is much-needed since Bethesda's reputation isn't quite what it was back in 2011, when it was riding high on the success of Skyrim. A mix of declining quality in its games and one too many Skyrim re-releases has contributed to this. View the full article
  24. I'm not sure how they have time for it, but as part of a livestream held earlier today, HoYoVerse revealed yet another new game. This one isn't a completely new world, it's actually another Honkai game, though right now it doesn't have a name. A very short teaser was shared for it which literally just called it a "brand new Honkai game", but there were a couple of signs that it was one anyway. Namely, the presence of a couple of characters, Kiana and Blade. Read more View the full article
