Infected blood compensation needs to be faster, campaigners say
Compensation for infected blood victims needs to be delivered faster, campaigners have said on the first anniversary of a public inquiry report into what has been described as the worst treatment disaster in NHS history.
“We are dying at pace, the government needs to be working at pace, not just talking about it,” one campaigner said on Tuesday as a letter calling for action was handed in to the prime minister.
Diana Johnson, a minister who for years as a Labour MP supported victims of the scandal, said it was “disappointing” to hear how slow process had been.
But Cabinet Office minister Nick Thomas Symonds said the government was “committed to delivering compensation as swiftly as possible”.
More than 30,000 people in the *** were infected with **** or hepatitis C or both after being given contaminated blood products in the 1970s and 1980s. Around 3,000 people have died.
In his final report released one year ago, inquiry chair Sir Brian Langstaff said the scandal had been largely avoidable and involved systemic failings.
Campaigners had expected rapid compensation, but so far only 100 people have received payouts.
They gathered at Westminster on Tuesday to hand in a letter to Sir Keir Starmer, stating their concern at the lack of progress.
“Twelve months on from the publication of the Infected Blood Inquiry’s devastating report, there remains deep concern from the contaminated blood community that politics is continuing to fail them,” the letter said.
“As the Infected Blood Inquiry heard when it reconvened hearings on 7 May 2025, the community’s voice was absent when the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme was drawn up. The resulting scheme contains fundamental flaws, which could and would have been foreseen.”
Speaking exclusively to the BBC, Diana Johnson MP, who is now a Home Office Minister, told BBC News that she appreciated the concerns of campaigners and sympathised with their argument.
“It’s disappointing to hear just how slow the process is though, and I fully appreciate the concerns that so many people who are gathered today are making about wanting to get those payments out to people,” she said.
“We know on average someone dies every couple of weeks, so this has to be paid. But the money is there.”
When asked whether she could use her position as minister to make their case she said she was speaking to the BBC as a constituency MP.
Jacqueline Wrixton, who was infected with hepatitis C as the result of a blood transfusion, said: “It’s been a year since the euphoria of the recommendations, and yet, as an infected person… the statistics that roughly two a week are dying, we’ve still not got payment.
“We are dying at pace, the government needs to be working at pace, not just talking about it. We need to see the actions.”
Cabinet Office minister Thomas–Symonds said: “The victims of this scandal have suffered unspeakably.
“After decades of delay, it has fallen to this government to act. We are acting on the inquiry’s 12 recommendations, so that this never happens again, and to get justice for victims.
“While no amount of compensation will make up for the suffering people have endured, we are committed to delivering compensation as swiftly as possible.”

Xreal is making Android XR glasses and this could be the biggest XR announcement since the Meta Quest 2 – here’s why
Xreal is making Android XR glasses and this could be the biggest XR announcement since the Meta Quest 2 – here’s why
Xreal is working on Android XR glasses
They’re codenamed Project Aura (the same name Google’s rumored Glass 2 apparently had)
The glasses are a collab between Xreal, Google and Qualcomm
Google and Samsung’s Android XR collab has been a major focus, but at Google I/O 2025 a new (yet familiar) partner emerged to showcase the second official Android XR device: Xreal with Project Aura.
Xreal and its Xreal One glasses currently top our list for the best smart glasses thanks to their impressive audio and visual quality.
However, while they include AR elements – they make your connected device (a phone, laptop, or console, among other options) float in front of you like you’re in a private movie theatre, which is fantastic by the way – they aren’t yet as versatile as other smart glasses propositions we’re being promised by Google, Meta, Snap and others.
You may like
Xreal Project Aura – a pair of XR glasses officially referred to as an optical see-through (OST) XR device – should shift Xreal’s range towards that of its rivals thanks to its advanced Qualcomm chipset, Xreal’s visual system expertise, and Google’s Android XR software. The combination of which should (hopefully) form a more fully realized spatial computing device than we’ve seen from Xreal before.
Samsung aren’t the only Android XR glasses (Image credit: Google)
As exciting as this announcement is – I’ll explain more below in a moment – we should keep our emotions in check until further details on Project Aura are revealed at the Augmented World Expo (AWE) in June, and in other announcements set to be made “later this year” (according to Xreal).
Simply because beyond its existence and its general design we know very little about Aura.
We can see it has in-built cameras, have been promised Qualcomm processors, and it appears to use the same dual-eye display technology exhibited by Xreal’s other glasses. Plus it’ll tethered rather than fully wireless, though it should still offer all of the Android XR abilities Google has showcased.
But important questions like its cost and release date haven’t yet been detailed.
Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.
I’m hoping it’ll offer us a more cost-effective entry point to this new era of XR glasses, but we’ll have to wait and see before we know for certain if this is “a breakthrough moment for real-world XR” as Chi Xu, Co-founder and CEO of Xreal promises.
Still, even before knowing its specs and other key factors I’m leaning towards agreeing with Xreal’s CEO.
I love my Xreal One glasses (Image credit: Future / Hamish Hector)
So why is this Xreal Android XR reveal potentially so important in my eyes?
Because while Meta has promised its Horizon OS will appear on non-Meta headsets – from Asus, Lenovo, and Xbox – since that announcement we’ve seen nothing of these other headsets in over a year. That is, beyond a whisper on winds (read: a small leak) about Asus’ Project Tarius.
Android XR on the other hand has, before launch, not only confirmed collaborations between Google and other companies (Xreal and Samsung) but shown those devices in action.
They aren’t just promises, they’re real.
A threat to the Meta Quest 3? (Image credit: Meta)
Now the key deciding factor will be if Android XR can prove itself as an operating system that rivals Horizon OS in terms of the breadth and quality of its XR apps. With Google, Samsung, Xreal, and more behind it, I’m feeling confident that it will.
If it lives up to my expectations, Android XR could seriously shake up Meta’s XR dominance thanks to the varied XR hardware options under its umbrella out the gate – that should lead to competition resulting in better devices and prices for us consumers as an end result.
We’ll have to continue to watch how Android XR develops, but it looks like Google is off to a very strong start. For the first time in a while Meta might finally be on the back foot in the XR space, and the ball is in its court to respond.

Star Wars 7-Game Nintendo Switch Collection Is 50% Off At Amazon
If you love Star Wars and own a Nintendo Switch, you’ll want to check out Amazon’s deal on Star Wars: Heritage Pack. This rarely discounted collection of Star Wars games is on ***** for $30 at Amazon and GameStop. Star Wars: Heritage Pack comes with seven classic Star Wars games, including the Jedi Knight and Knights of the Old Republic series. The $30 discount matches the best deal yet, and we don’t expect it to remain in stock at Amazon for very long.
$30 (was $60)
The physical edition of Star Wars: Heritage Pack typically sells for $60. Oddly enough, the digital version of the Star Wars: Heritage Pack used to sell for $80, but it has actually been removed from *****. In comparison, the physical edition was already a bargain at full price, but now you’re getting each game for just over $4 each–which is far lower than the price of buying the games separately from the eShop.
Star Wars: Heritage collection pulls together seven classic Star Wars games:
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Star Wars Episode I Racer
Star Wars Republic Commando
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Knights of the Old Republic (Downloadable)
Knights of the Old Republic 2 (Downloadable)
While the first five games are playable directly off the Switch cartridge, both Knights of the Old Republic are digital versions that need to be downloaded from the eShop–so make sure you have a good internet connection and a bit of space on your microSD card. Combined, the two KOTOR games clock in just shy of 30GB.

Google finally gave us a closer look at Android XR – here are 4 new things we’ve learned
Google finally gave us a closer look at Android XR – here are 4 new things we’ve learned
Android XR has been showcased by Google at I/O 2025
It relies heavily on AI to deliver many of its features like live translation
Several different glasses brands will deliver Android XR features
At Google I/O 2025 Google finally gave us what we’ve all been waiting for (well, what I’ve been waiting for): a proper Android XR showcase.
The new Google operating system made for Android headsets and Android glasses has been teased as the next big rival to Meta’s Horizon OS – the software that powers the Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S – and we finally have a better picture of how it stacks up.
Admittedly the showcase was a little short, but we do know several new details about Android XR, and here are four you need to know.
You may like
1. Android XR has Gemini at its core
While I’d argue Google’s Android XR showcase wasn’t as in-depth as I wanted, it did show us what the operating system has running at its core: Google Gemini.
Google’s advanced AI is the OS’ defining feature (at least that’s how Google is positing it).
On-glasses-Gemini can recommend you a place to eat ramen then offer you on-screen directions to where to find it, it can perform live-translation, and on a headset it can use Google Maps’ immersive view to virtually transport you to any destination you request.
Particularly on the glasses this completely hands-free approach – combined with cameras and a head-up display – looks to be Google Gemini in its most useful form. You can get the assistant’s help as quickly as you can ask for it, no fumbling to get your phone out required.
Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.
I want to see more but this certainly looks like a solid upgrade on the similar Meta AI feature the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses offer.
2. Android XR is for more than Samsung
Ahead of Google I/O we knew Samsung was going to be a key Android XR partner – alongside Qualcomm, who’s providing all the necessary Snapdragon chipsets to power the Android XR hardware.
But we now know several other companies are collaborating with Google.
Xreal has showcased Project Aura, which will bring Android XR to an upgraded version of its tethered glasses that we’re familiar with (like the Xreal One) – with Aura being complete with a camera and Snapdragon processor.
Then Google also teased glasses from Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, implying it is taking Meta’s approach of partnering with fashion brands, rather than just traditional tech brands.
Plus, given that Gentle Monster and Warby Parker offer very different design aesthetics, this will be good news for people who want varied fashion choices for their new smart glasses accessories.
3. Project Moohan is still coming ‘later this year’
The Android XR headset Project Moohan is still set to launch in 2025, but Google and Samsung have yet to confirm a specific release date.
I was hoping we’d get something more concrete, but continued confirmation that Moohan will be landing in 2025 is better than it being delayed.
Google and its partners weren’t keen to give us any firm dates, in fact. Xreal calling its Project Aura the second official Android XR glasses suggests it’ll land sometime after Moohan, but before anything else – however, we’ll have to wait and see what plays out.
Google certainly dealt XR’s biggest player – Meta, with its hugely popular Quest headset hardware – a few blows and gave its rival something to be worried about.
However, this showcase is far from a finisher, especially not in the headset department.
Meta’s Connect 2025 showcase in September is expected to show us similar glasses tech and features, and depending on release dates Meta might beat Android XR to the punch.
That said, competition is only going to be a good thing for us consumers, as these rivals battle over price and features to entice us to one side or the other. Unlike previous battles in the XR space this certainly seems like a balanced fight and I’m excited to see what happens next.

Dad Wanted a Baby Boy. When He Learned His Wife Was Pregnant with a 3rd Girl, He Did the Unthinkable
Dad Wanted a Baby Boy. When He Learned His Wife Was Pregnant with a 3rd Girl, He Did the Unthinkable
Drew Garnier, 33, stabbed his wife Samantha, 29, to death in Sept, 2024 at their home in New York while she was five months pregnant with the couple’s third daughter
A judge sentenced him to 30 years in prison after Samantha’s father read a victim impact statement saying Garnier killed his wife because “he wanted a boy”
He stabbed his daughters, 6 and 9, that same night, and to spare the girls the trauma of having to testify at trial, prosecutors agreed to a deal that let Garnier plead guilty to lesser charges
A New York man accused of murdering his pregnant wife and then stabbing their two daughters was sentenced for his crimes this week.
Drew Garnier, 33, will serve 30 years in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release after entering a guilty plea to charges of first-degree manslaughter and two counts of first-degree assault in a deal with prosecutors.
There was just one victim impact statement read in court prior to the sentencing, according to a summary of the proceedings released by the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office — and it came from Garnier’s former father-in-law, who said that his daughter Samantha was killed by her husband because “he wanted a boy.”
Samantha, who was just 29-years-old and five months pregnant when her husband brutally stabbed her to death, had learned at the time that the couple’s third child would be also be a girl.
Garnier’s father-in-law said in court that his two granddaughters now have a new father after he adopted the girls.
“I am their father now,” he said. “I will protect them.”

Samantha Garnier and her two daughters
Police arrested Garnier on Sept. 5, 2024 after responding to a report of a domestic dispute at his home in Centerville, according to the New York State Police.
The NYSP said that all three females inside the home had multiple stab wounds, and received treatment from state troopers while waiting for EMTs to arrive on the scene.
All three females were then airlifted to hospitals due to the severity of their injuries, said NYSP in a release at the time.
Samantha was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival, while the two girls managed to pull through in the end.

The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office acknowledged the fact that the trauma those two young girls endured is part of the reason Garnier was able to make a deal which helped secure him a far more lenient sentence.
District Attorney Shawn J. Smith said at the sentencing that while he did not feel the plea deal between prosecutors and Garnier was ideal, he wanted to spare the defendant’s two daughters from having the endure a lengthy trial and instead allow them to “focus on recovering from their ordeal.”

The judge prohibited Garnier from contact with his daughters through 2056, though the girls can petition the court to amend that order should they ever wish to speak with their father.

RTX 5080 Super rumored with 24GB of memory — Same 10,752 CUDA cores as the vanilla variant with a 400W+ TGP
RTX 5080 Super rumored with 24GB of memory — Same 10,752 CUDA cores as the vanilla variant with a 400W+ TGP
New, possible details about a potential RTX 5080 Super have emerged, thanks to an X posting from well-reputed hardware leaker Kopite, who has a solid track record when it comes to all things Nvidia. The RTX 5080 Super is alleged to address GPU memory limitations with 24GB of fast GDDR7 memory, and a TGP (Total Graphics Power) that’s rumored to exceed 400W. The leaker has not shared any details in regards to pricing and availability.
GDDR7 memory modules are currently available in 16Gb (2GB) and 24Gb (3GB) densities, with even higher capacities down the pipeline. The denser option directly translates to a 50% increase in VRAM capacity, even if the memory bus width remains the same.
Despite sharing the same 256-bit bus width as the RTX 5080, the RTX 5090 Mobile achieves its 24GB configuration with denser memory modules. The remainder of the Blackwell family sticks with standard 16Gb modules, similar to GDDR6X. However, this new leak suggests Nvidia might be eying transitioning to denser 24Gb options for the RTX 50 Super refresh.

The RTX 5080 Super reportedly employs the full-**** GB203 die, similar to the RTX 5080, with 10,752 CUDA cores or 84 Streaming Multiprocessors. The 256-bit interface enables eight memory modules, which have been populated with 24Gb (3GB) modules for 24GB of GDDR7 memory, rated at 32 Gbps. This puts the memory bandwidth at an impressive 1 TB/s, or 6.6% faster than the stock RTX 5080. Nvidia is also said to increase the power requirements for the RTX 5080 Super over 400W.

It’s improbable Nvidia will release a Super/Ti model for the premier RTX 5090 with 24Gb modules, as that would likely impact the sales of its professional GPUs. The most affordable Blackwell workstation card, the RTX Pro 4000 Blackwell, which is suggested to retail near $1,500, is equipped with 24GB of memory. This 24GB capacity is likely the maximum Nvidia will offer with its Super refresh for consumers, as going any further would risk encroaching on its distinct market segmentation, where higher VRAM capacities are key selling points for AI/ML developers and enthusiasts.
The RTX Pro 4000 also serves as a reasonable indicator for the price tag, where the RTX 5080 Super should cost somewhere between $1,000 to $1,500, assuming the MSRP is honored. The best possible outcome would be to pull an RTX 4080 Super and decrease the base MSRP, but that’s wishful thinking, especially in a market where MSRPs are no more than a suggestion.
At the other end of the spectrum, all 128-bit models, which constitute the entire RTX 5060 family, have the potential to be loaded with up to 12GB of memory. But the final decision rests on Nvidia, which has recently been in hot water for restricting preview drivers from reviewers and limiting pre-release tests to very specific benchmarks, unduly focused on Multi Frame Generation.

Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel features a second city that ‘feels like Chicago gone wrong’, reveals creator
Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel features a second city that ‘feels like Chicago gone wrong’, reveals creator
The creator of the Cyberpunk IP has revealed that CD Projekt’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel features a new city that feels like “Chicago gone wrong”.
Speaking at Digital Dragons 2025, R. Talsorian Games founder Mike Pondsmith was asked about Project Orion, the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel that’s being headed by CD Projekt Red’s new North American arm, which has studios in Boston and Vancouver.
Pondsmith revealed that he’s not as involved with the second game as he was with 2077, but said he’s keeping track of its progress. The game designer went on to claim that the sequel will feature Night City, as well as a second, unspecified location.
“I’m not as involved directly, but I see the scripts,” Pondsmith said. “Last week I was wandering around talking to different departments and seeing what they had like, ‘this is the new Cyberware, what do you think?’
“I spent a lot of time talking to one of the environment guys, and he was explaining how the new place… because there’s another city that we visit, and I’m not telling you anymore than that, but there’s another city that we visit. Night City is still there.”
The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is in development in the US.
He continued: “I remember looking at it and going, ‘I understand the feel that you’re going for, and this really does work, it doesn’t feel like Blade Runner, it feels more like Chicago gone wrong’. And I said, ‘yeah, I can see this working’.”
The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is being helmed by core team members behind the original game and its Phantom Liberty expansion, who moved to North America to lead development on the follow-up.
CD Projekt Red has also announced the appointment of a number of veteran developers to work on the sequel, including Dan Hernberg, who had previously served as head of production at both Amazon Games and Panic Button, and lead product manager at Blizzard.
Little is known about the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. However, according to job listings, the game is aiming to deliver ‘the most realistic crowds ever seen in a video game’.
CD Projekt Red has also said that the fact that its new Boston studio is working on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 means it’s likely to be more authentically American than the original was.

Xreal debuts Project Aura glasses that run Android XR
Xreal debuts Project Aura glasses that run Android XR
Xreal said its Project Aura glasses will run Google Android XR.
Xreal
Xreal on Tuesday announced a set of so-called “extended reality” glasses that run Google’s Android XR software, as the companies look to take on Meta and Apple in a new arena.
The launch marks an early step from Alphabet‘s Google to become a major operating system for future virtual and augmented reality smart glasses and headsets, much like Android has turned into a default option for most smartphones.
Xreal, a ******** company backed by Alibaba, calls its glasses Project Aura and describes them as a lightweight extended reality — or XR — product. XR is a broad term encompassing technologies that merge real and virtual worlds.
Android XR, Google’s operating system for these products, was launched last year and is infused with its AI assistant Gemini.
Samsung’s Project Moohan, a type of headset that looks to rival Apple’s $3,500 Vision Pro, was the first device announced that runs Android XR. Samsung plans to launch the hardware this year.
Xreal’s Project Aura is the second device announced that will operate on Android XR, and it is the first such device in the glasses format.
Few details have been released about the tech, which was announced at the Google I/O conference. Xreal said the glasses will have Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon XR chips, which are specially designed for these pieces of hardware.
Xreal also said the glasses will be “tethered,” meaning they will connect to another device to run. The company has not yet provided details on what the glasses will need to be linked to.
The startup has released previous products that have run its in-house operating system, featured its own chips and connected to its own second device. But Project Aura will now rely more heavily on Google’s software and on Qualcomm semiconductors.
The timeline and price of Project Aura were not immediately disclosed. Xreal will likely release a headset for developers to start experimenting and building apps first, then a consumer product at a later date.
For Google, the more devices that run Android XR, the more appealing it will be for developers to build apps for the operating system. A large part of any operating system’s success is the quality of apps available for users.
For Xreal, being an early partner with Google and working with Qualcomm will give it access to the latest technology in the XR space, as well as to marketing for its products.
The launch of Project Aura also marks a step up competition with Meta and its continued efforts with the Meta Ray-Ban product and the likes of Snap, which unveiled a new set of its Spectacles last year.
Glasses also offer an alternative to bulky headsets. Tech giants including Apple and Meta see extended reality as a potential new paradigm in computing.

The Last of Us Season 2 Stunt Double Looks More Like Ellie Than Bella Ramsey
The Last of Us Season 2 Stunt Double Looks More Like Ellie Than Bella Ramsey
The Last of Us series isn’t a stranger to fan backlash and controversies, and the case is no different with the show adaptation. Be it about the castings, messy plot points, or lack of subtexts, this show has faced every kind of backlash. The game, while being universally acclaimed, has faced major controversies, so it was expected that the show would share the same fate.
One of the biggest pushbacks that the show faced was its casting of Ellie, the show’s protagonist. Now, no shade to Bella Ramsey as they did an incredible job in The Last of Us Season 1, and while their acting remains admirable still, their portrayal of an older Ellie in the second season leaves much to be desired.
Is Bella Ramsey’s stunt double in The Last of Us Season 2 a better Ellie?
Bella is amazing, but their Ellie could be better | Image Credit: HBO
Bella Ramsey’s stunt double for The Last of Us Season 2 is Cassandra Ebner, who’s also an actress and has been a stunt performer for popular movies and TV shows like Game of Thrones, The Flash, and more under her belt. Even though she’s Bella’s stunt double, she looks more like Ellie than them.
The screenshot above is from a behind-the-scenes video breaking down Ellie and Dina’s fight with a flock of stalkers in season 2. At that specific angle, Cassandra looks a bit too much like Ellie from the second game. Don’t get us wrong, Bella has proved themselves to be a fantastic actor and they play the role of Ellie very well, especially in the first season.
It’s just that they don’t suit a grown-up Ellie. There’s no fault in their performance, though, as they channel Ellie in a lot of ways, from mannerisms to the way Ellie talks in the game. But for a grown-up Ellie, they’re missing that unhinged and bloodthirsty vibe that Ashley Johnson brought to the character in the second game, making her genuinely scary.
Would a more accurate casting have solved all the problems with season 2? No, because looks aren’t everything. Like I said before, even though Bella’s not fit for a grown-up Ellie, there’s nothing wrong with their acting skills. The main problem of the second season lies in the writing and the way it’s adapting The Last of Us Part 2.
What went wrong with The Last of Us Season 2?
When you look at the source material it’s adapting, you’ll realise that The Last of Us Season 2 was bound to be hated no matter what. However, there are glaring problems present that have no connection to the casting or the acting. First off, the writing is just not as good as the games, and it feels like Neil Druckmann is scared of his creation.
Lack of subtexts, spoon-feeding audiences every bit of information, order of scenes being way different from the game are some of the few problems this season suffers from. Not to mention changing important scenes like Joel talking to a therapist about Ellie instead of his brother Tommy, having Abby blurt out her entire revenge motive to Joel before he gets killed, Dina being there instead of Tommy during Joel’s killing, among other examples.
The most recent episode had the porch scene between Joel and Ellie, which was supposed to be the penultimate scene, as it is at the very end of the game, providing closure to their relationship before his death. It hits harder in the game because we get to know that Ellie tried forgiving Joel the night before he died, and by the time we get to that cutscene, she has lost everything.
Changes like this have bogged down the second season overall, and with more seasons on the way, all I hope is that it takes more cues from the second game. So, what do you think about Bella Ramsey’s casting in The Last of Us Season 2? Do the changes made in the second season work well, or are they just changing things for the sake of changing? Let us know in the comments section below.

Want to be the next Spielberg? Google’s AI-powered Flow could bring your movie ideas to life
Google Flow is a new tool for filmmakers to tap into the power of generative AI
Flow uses multiple Google AI models to create cinematic scenes and characters from text prompts
This could open up more creative movie-making for people without Hollywood budgets
Google clearly wants to inject artificial intelligence into more creative tools, as evidenced by the introduction of Flow at today’s Google I/O 2025.
Flow is the search giant’s new ‘AI filmmaking tool’ that uses Google’s AI models, such as Veo, Imagen, and Gemini to help creative types explore storytelling ideas in movies and videos without needing to go out and film clips and cinematic scenes or sketch out a lot of storyboard scenes by hand.
Effectively an extension of the experimental Google Labs VideoFX tool launched last year, Flow lets users add in text prompts in natural, everyday language to create scenes, such as “astronauts walk out of the museum on a bridge,” and the AI tech behind Flow will create such a scene.
You may like
Flow lets filmmakers bring their own assets into it, from which characters and other images can be created. Once a subject or scene is created, it can be integrated into clips and scenes in a fashion that’s consistent with the video or film as a whole.
There are other controls beyond the creation of assets and scenes, with Flow offering direct manipulation of camera angles, perspectives and motion, easy editing of scene to hone in on features or widen up a shot to include more action – this appears to work as easily as a cropping tool – and offers the ability to manage all the ‘ingredients’ and prompt for Flow.
Flow will be available for subscribers of Google Al Pro and Google Al Ultra plans in the US, with more countries slated to get access to the filmmaking AI soon.

From seeing videos of Flow in action, it appears to be a powerful tool that brings an idea into a visual form, and with surprising realism. Powered by natural language prompts means budding filmmakers can create shots and science that would in the past have required dedicated sets or at least some deft CGI work.

In effect, Flow could be one of those AI tools that opens up the world of cinema to a wider range of creatives, or at least gives amateurs more powerful creative tools to bring their ideas to life.
However, this does raise the question of whether Flow would be used to create ideas for storytelling that would then be brought into silver screen life via physical sets, actors, and dedicated cinema CGI. Or if Flow will be used to create whole movies with AI, effectively letting directors be the sole producers of films, and bypass the need for actors, camera people, and the wealth of crew that are integral to traditional movie making.
As such, AI-powered tools like Flow could breathe new life into the world of cinema that one might argue has got a little stale, at least on the big production commercial side, and at the same time disrupt the roles and work required in the movie-making industry.

Jim Cramer says 2 assets can hedge against $36T debt
Jim Cramer says 2 assets can hedge against $36T debt
CNBC’s ‘Mad Money’ host and veteran market commentator Jim Cramer has urged investors not to get nervous in the face of concerns like the Moody’s downgrade of U.S. debt. The U.S.’s rising debt stands at $36 trillion as of now.
Investors should instead invest in gold or Bitcoin as hedges against excessive government borrowing, Cramer recommended. “Fear is what must be tamed if you want to be a good investor.”
Cramer recalled the S&P’s long-term credit downgrade in 2011 and Fitch’s long-term foreign currency issuer downgrade in 2023, which he claims led to short-term declines only to recover soon.
Those who recently sold stocks because of the national debt worries have been wrong, Cramer said.
A downgrade isn’t a “get out now” sign, Cramer warned. Instead, it’s “an early warning to invest more — not more aggressively — but more of what you can save.” Investing, not selling, is the real hedge for those concerned about the government’s creditworthiness, he added.
The host slammed those warning of a severe market downturn, saying such people are “either fools who know nothing or incredibly shrewd short sellers who really need to spread fear because of their business model.”
Moody’s weekend downgrade led to early losses on May 19, which were quickly recovered. The S&P 500 index closed at 5,963.60 points, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) at 42,792.07 points, and Nasdaq at 19,215.46 points.
The assets Cramer recommended are also lying in the green zone.
As per Kraken, Bitcoin was trading at $105,245 at press time, up 2.2% a day. Gold, on the other hand, was trading at $3,240.44 per oz, up 0.34% a day.

Last Of Us Boss Was So Impressed By This Season 2 Actor That He Gave Him A Part In Intergalactic
Last Of Us Boss Was So Impressed By This Season 2 Actor That He Gave Him A Part In Intergalactic
Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann has discussed the casting of Tony Dalton in the developer’s new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. This story contains spoilers for HBO’s The Last of Us.
In the sixth episode of The Last of Us Season 2, we get a flashback showing Joel’s abusive father, and he’s played by Better Call Saul actor Tony Dalton. Druckmann told Entertainment Weekly that he was impressed with Dalton’s performance in his one scene, so much so that he offered Dalton a role in Intergalactic without an audition or anything.
“He immediately came to mind, and I just offered it to him on the spot,” Druckmann said.
Dalton is not the only actor from The Last of Us that’s going to appear in Intergalactic, as Nora actor Tati Gabrielle is playing the game’s lead character, Jordan A. Mun. She’s been working with Druckmann to prepare herself for a wave of hate and abuse.
In addition to Dalton and Gabrielle, Intergalactic features Marvel actor Kumail Nanjiani, as well as The Last of Us: Part II co-writer Halley Gross in an acting role.
Intergalactic is Naughty Dog’s first new IP in a decade. It’s been in development since 2020 and more than 250 people at Naughty Dog alone have worked on it over the years, in addition to external development support. Druckmann is co-directing.
Intergalactic will be scored by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails fame. As for when it will be released, no one should expect to play the game until 2027 at the soonest.
In addition to Intergalactic, Naughty Dog is working on at least one other game, which Druckmann is also involved with.

Google Search just got its biggest-ever upgrade to lure you away from ChatGPT – here are 7 new things to try
Google Search just got its biggest-ever upgrade to lure you away from ChatGPT – here are 7 new things to try
Google Search is under pressure – not only are many of us replacing it with the likes of ChatGPT Search, Google’s attempts to stave off competition with the features like AI Overviews have also backfired due to some worrying inaccuracies.
That’s why Google has just given Search its biggest overhaul for over 25 years at Google I/O 2025. The era of the ‘ten blue links’ is coming to close, with Google now giving its AI Mode (previously stashed away in its Labs experiments) a wider rollout in the US.
AI Mode was far from the only Search news at this year’s I/O – so if you been wondering what the next 25 years of ‘Googling’ looks like, here are all of the new Search features Google’s just announced.
You may like
A word of warning: beyond AI Mode, many of the features will only be available to Labs testers in the US – so if you want to be among the first to try them “in the coming weeks”, turn on the AI Mode experiment in Labs.
1. AI Mode in Search is rolling out to everyone in the US
Yes, Google has just taken off the stabilizers off its AI Mode for Search – which was previously only available in Labs to early testers – and rolled it out to everyone in the US. There’s no word yet on when it’s coming to other regions.
Google says that “over the coming weeks” (which sounds worryingly vague) you’ll see AI Mode appear as a new tab in Google Search on the web (and in the search bar in the Google app).
We’ve already tried out AI Mode and concluded that “it might be the end of Search as we know it”, and Google says it’s been refining it since then – the new version is apparently powered by a custom version of Gemini 2.5.
Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.
2. Google also has a new ‘Deep Search’ AI Mode
A lot of AI chatbots – including ChatGPT and Perplexity – now offer a Deep Research mode for longer research projects that require a bit more than a quick Google. Well, now Google has its own equivalent for Search called, yes, ‘Deep Search’.
Available in Labs “in the coming months” (always the vaguest of release windows), Deep Search is a feature within AI Mode that’s based on the same “query fan-out” technique as that broader mode, but according to Google takes it to the “next level”.
In reality, that should mean an “expert-level, fully-cited report” (Google says) in only a few minutes, which sounds like a big time-saver – as long as the accuracy is a bit better than Google’s AI Overviews.
3. Search Live lets you quiz Google with your camera
Google already lets you ask questions about the world with Google Lens, and demoed its Project Astra universal assistant at Google I/O 2024. Well, now it’s folding Astra into Google Search so you can ask questions in real-time using your smartphone’s camera.
‘Search Live’ is another Labs feature and will be marked by a ‘Live’ icon in Google’s AI Mode or in Google Lens. Tap it and you’ll be able to point your camera and have a back-and-forth chat with Google about what’s in front of you, while getting links sent to you with more info.
The idea sounds good in theory, but we’re still yet to try it out beyond its prototype incarnation last year and the multimodal AI project is cloud-based, so your mileage may vary depending on where you’re using it. But we’re excited to see how far it’s come in the last year or so with this new Labs version in Search.
4. AI Overviews are going global
We’re not exactly wild about AI Overviews, which are the little AI-generated paragraphs you often see at the top of your search results. They’re sometimes inaccurate and have resulted in some infamous clangers, like recommending that people add glue to their pizzas. But Google is ploughing ahead with them and announced that AI Overviews are getting wider rollout.
The new expansion means the feature will be available in more than 200 countries and territories and more than 40 languages worldwide. In other words, this is the new normal for Google Search, so we’d better get used to it.
Google’s Liz Reid (VP, Head of Search) acknowledged in a press briefing before Google I/O 2025 that AI Overviews have been a learning experience, but claims they’ve improved since those early incidents.
“Many of you may have seen that a set of issues came up last year, although they were very much education and quite rare, we also still took them very, very seriously and made a lot of improvements since then”, she said.
5. Google Search will soon be your ticket-buying agent
Finding and and buying tickets and still something of painful experience in Google Search. Fortunately, Google is promising a new mode that’s powered by Project Mariner, which is an AI agent that can surf the web just like a human and complete tasks.
Rather than a separate feature, this will apparently live within AI Mode and kick in when you ask questions like “Find two affordable tickets for this Saturday’s Reds game in the lower level”.
This will see it scurry off and analyze hundreds of ticket options with real-time pricing. It can also fill in forms, leaving you with the simple task of hitting the ‘purchase’ button (in theory, at least).
The only downside is that this is another of Google’s Lab projects that will launch “in the coming months”, so who knows when we’ll actually see it in action.
Google gave its Shopping tab within Google Search a big refresh back in October 2024, and now many of those features are getting another boost thanks to some new integration with AI Mode.
The ‘virtual try-on’ feature (which lets you upload a photo of yourself to see how new clothing might look on you) is back again, but the biggest new feature is an AI-powered checkout feature that tracks prices for you, then buys things on your behalf using Google Pay when the price is right (with your confirmation, of course).
We’re not sure this is going to help cure our gear-acquisition syndrome, but it it does also have some time-saving (and savings-wrecking) potential.
7. Google Search is getting even more personalized (if you want it to)
Like traditional Search, Google’s new AI Mode will offer suggestions based on your previous searches, but you can also make it a lot more personalized. Google says you’ll be able to connect it to some of its other services, most notably Gmail, to help its answer your queries with a more tailored, personal touch.
One example Google gave was asking AI Mode for “things to do in Nashville this weekend with friends”. If you’ve plugged it into other Google services, it could use your previous restaurant bookings and searches to lean the results towards restaurants with outdoor seating.
There are obvious issues here – for many, this may be a privacy invasion too far, so they’ll likely not opt into connecting it to other services. Also, these ‘personal context’ powers sound like they have the ‘echo chamber’ problem of assuming you always want to repeat your previous preferences.
Still, it could be another handy evolution of Search for some, and Google says you can always manage your personalization settings at any time.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell could double international games
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell could double international games
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said this week the league is going to lean into international competition and could play as many as 16 games per season abroad in the next 5 years.
Goodell appeared at the CNBC CEO Council Summit alongside Marriott CEO Anthony Capuano and spoke to a variety of topics that also included private equity, franchise valuations and the economy.
Here are the highlights:
Growing the NFL footprint
The NFL currently has seven international games on its 2025 schedule, the most in its history, hosting matchups in Brazil, England, Germany, Ireland and Spain. But Goodell said Monday that’s just the start.
“I do see 16 regular season games, and I do think that will happen in the very near future,” Goodell told CNBC’s Scott Wapner. “Within 5 years probably.”
The league has more than 200 million fans in the U.S., making international a big opportunity.
“International is an open market for us,” said Goodell. “We are excited about our potential.”
Marriott’s Capuano added sports travel is a huge revenue driver, with sports-related travel representing more than $50 billion annually and 10% of global tourism.
Marriott has a long-standing partnership with the NFL as the official hotel partner of the league.
Private equity in the NFL
Goodell also reflected on the rise of private equity in the NFL.
In August, the league became the last of the major U.S. professional sports leagues to allow private equity investment, greenlighting certain PE firms to take up to a 10% stake in teams.
Investment was limited to a small group of firms: Ares Management, Sixth Street Partners, Arctos Partners and a consortium nicknamed “The Avengers” that includes Dynasty Equity, Blackstone, Carlyle Group, CVC Capital Partners and Ludis, a platform founded by investor and former NFL running back Curtis Martin.
Goodell said this week the league is close to allowing an additional private equity firm to join the ranks.
“There’s enough demand for it that we think it’s the right step,” Goodell said.
The commissioner added teams have found the private equity money helpful in providing liquidity.
Valuations on the rise
Goodell said he was surprised by how quickly team valuations have risen, but said it’s not something league officials focus on.
According to CNBC’s Official NFL valuations, the average club is worth $6.49 billion. The NFL is the most valuable sports league in the U.S. and in 2024, the league generated a record $23 billion in revenue.
The San Francisco 49ers have reached an agreement with a set of buyers to sell a 6.2% stake in the team at a record valuation of above $8.5 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to address nonpublic dealings.
“It’s a statement about the business model itself and the popularity of it,” Goodell said Monday. “I think a lot of people are valuing our franchises because of the future, and that’s what we want to see, and that’s what we need.”
Tariffs and the economy
As many companies around the country grapple with waning consumer sentiment, stubborn inflation and broad import tariffs, Goodell said he doesn’t think the current climate will impact the NFL tremendously.
He said while the data shows consumer are pausing spending or not investing so far into the future, he thinks live sports are in a different category than general entertainment spending.
“There’s still great demand in our content,” Goodell said.
— CNBC’s Alex Sherman and Michael Ozanian contributed to this report.

Elon Musk signals plans to dial back political spending
Elon Musk signals plans to dial back political spending
Reuters
Billionaire Elon Musk has said he expects to dial back his political donations, a major shift from the figure who shook up the 2024 election as a top donor to President Donald Trump.
Musk, who ultimately spent more than $250m (£187m) in support of Trump’s campaign, told an economic conference in Qatar that he planned to do “a lot less” spending in the future.
He also said he was committed to leading electric car company Tesla for another five years.
The comments come just a few weeks after he said he would step back from leading the controversial White House effort to slash federal spending, commonly called Doge.
Musk was dealt a political blow earlier this year after the candidate he backed to join the Wisconsin Supreme Court was defeated, despite receiving more than $20m from Musk and groups he supports.
Asked whether he expected to continue his political spending at scale, Musk told the conference he felt he had “done enough”.
“If I see a reason to do political spending in the future, I will do it,” he said.
“I do not currently see a reason,” he added.
Musk had largely stayed out of the political arena until last year, and his high-dollar entry raised scrutiny of his companies, which also include rocket firm Starlink and social media company X.
Concerns about conflicts of interest bubbled up as he became an influential figure in Trump’s White House, given some of his companies have contracts with the federal government while some have been investigated by the government.
There were also protests and boycotts of Tesla against his steps to get rid of thousands of federal workers and to give his Doge team access to government information.
As sales sank, Tesla’s board and investors began to worry publicly that he was not focused enough on the company that helped make him a billionaire.
Getty Images
Elon Musk appeared at campaign events with Donald Trump, such as this one in Butler, Pennsylvania last October
With public opinion souring, Musk also ran into limits to his political influence.
Trump forged ahead with tariffs, against Musk’s advice, while Doge’s spending cuts have fallen short of the trillions in dollars in savings Musk originally pledged to achieve.
At the conference Musk defended Doge’s performance, noting it has little power over spending.
“We are simply the adviser,” he said. “In that context we are doing very well.”
He also disputed reports by the UN and others that Doge’s cuts have had a devastating impact on people helped by initiatives previously backed by the US, such as ****/AIDS prevention.
Musk said he had taken the backlash, which included violent attacks on Tesla cars, personally.
But when asked if he had any regrets about his political activities, Musk said: “I did what needed to be done.”
He brushed off worries about the impact on Tesla, saying it was doing well outside of Europe.
“It’s already turned around,” he said, noting Tesla’s share price has risen recently. “We see no problem with demand.”
Bloomberg journalist Mishal Hussain, who conducted the on-stage interview at the conference, pressed Musk about whether his commitment to Tesla was contingent on pay.
The world’s richest person has been pushing to receive a record-breaking compensation package, which has been twice rejected by a federal judge.
“It’s not a money thing,” Musk said. “It’s a reasonable control thing.”

26 essential Linux storage commands for management
26 essential Linux storage commands for management
Managing storage space on Linux devices can be challenging. Linux storage commands, though, help monitor and manage this space and make the sys admin job easier.
Use the following commands on Linux servers and workstations to make sure you provide users with efficient and available drive space. Note that many commands display several types of information that can span categories.
Managing file sizes
Managing Linux storage capacity includes understanding file and directory sizes. Use the following commands to display this information.
1. ls -sh
Displays directory contents with size information in a human-readable format.
2. ls -lh
Displays directory contents in long format, including size, in a readable format.
3. find . -size +1G
Finds files larger than 1 GB in the current directory. Adjust this using M for megabytes. Replace the +1G with -1G for files smaller than 1 GB. Note that the find command has many useful variations for finding files based on size.
Managing utilization
Display overall capacity consumption and available space on a given file system by using the following Linux storage commands.
4. du -h /home
Displays disk utilization information for the specified directory — the /home directory, in this case. The -h option displays the output in helpful size increments, such as megabytes. Use the -s option to summarize the directory’s total size.
5. df -h
Displays disk file system utilization on your Linux device. As with other commands, the -h option displays the output in a user-friendly format.
The difference between du and df boils down to this: Use du for file and directory information, and df for broader file system data.
Managing devices
Understand storage device capabilities by using these commands.
6. blkid
Displays detailed data about available block devices, including Universally Unique Identifier, file system type and label.
7. lsblk
Displays information about available block devices, such as SSDs, HDDs and USB storage. The output includes details like device name, size, type and mount points.
8. hdparm
Displays and configures hardware parameters for HDDs and SSDs. Results include read speed information. You can set power management, drive cache and other tunable parameters, assuming the disk supports them.
9. smartctl
Manages and monitors self-monitoring, analysis and reporting technology, or SMART, storage devices. Displays health, attributes and errors for supported devices.
10. lshw -class disk
Displays detailed storage device attributes, including model, vendor, size and capabilities. Summarize data with the -short flag. Note that you can use the -class flag to display information on other devices, such as network and processor.
11. lsusb
Displays USB bus and device information, including numeric identifiers useful for troubleshooting. The command also displays vendor and model data. Add the -v, or verbose, option for more detail.
12. lsscsi
Shows SCSI device details, including addresses, types and nodes.
Managing partitions
The Linux /proc directory provides real-time information about the kernel, hardware and processes. Several files within this virtual file system contain information about storage devices.
13. cat /proc/partitions
Displays disk partitions.
14. cat /proc/devices
Displays storage devices.
15. cat /proc/diskstats
Displays I/O statistics for devices.
16. partprobe
Causes the system to reread disk partition tables to discover changes, such as new or removed partitions. Run this command after modifying partitions to make sure the system has current information.
17. fdisk -l
Uses fdisk to retrieve and display partition information, including names, sizes and types. Use this command if you have installed fdisk on your system and have Master Boot Record (MBR) partitions.
18. parted -l
Uses parted to retrieve and display partition information, including GUID Partition Table (GPT) and MBR configurations. Use this command if you have installed parted on your system and have GPT volumes.
Managing file systems
Display and manipulate file systems on storage devices using these Linux storage commands.
19. mkfs.xfs /dev/sda1
Adds the XFS file system to storage partition /dev/sda1. You can also use the syntax mkfs -t xfs /dev/sda1 for the same configuration. The other common variation would be specifying the ext4 file system instead of xfs.
20. mount /dev/sda1 /projects
Attaches a file system at /dev/sda1 to a mount point, or directory, at /projects, making the storage capacity available.
21. umount /dev/sda1
Detaches the file system, making the capacity unavailable.
22. cat /proc/mounts
Displays mounted file systems.
23. dd if=/dev/sda1 of=/dev/sdb1
Copies and converts data between the /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1 partitions. The if parameter indicates the source, while the of parameter is the destination. Add the status=progress option to display progress information.
Be aware that another dd capability is deleting the file system, which can be useful for disk sanitization.
24. shred -vfz -n 5 /dev/sda1
Overwrites the /dev/sda1 partition with five passes, with the final pass being zeros. The -v option provides a progress meter.
Think carefully before using this command, or you might lose data.
25. shred -uvz -n 5 fileA.txt
Overwrites fileA.txt with five passes, with the final pass being zeros. The -u option deletes the file once the overwrites are complete.
26. fsck -y -C /dev/sda1
Checks the file system at /dev/sda1 for errors during troubleshooting or monitoring.
Good practices for Linux storage commands
Many other useful storage-oriented Linux commands exist, especially around file management. Various tools enable compression, archiving, efficient file centralization on remote servers and integrity checking.
Don’t forget to compare the XFS and ext4 file systems and how they handle large files, as one might have more efficient storage utilization over the other.
Begin using these Linux storage commands to determine how your organization is using its capacity and where you can make it more efficient.

Trump trade uncertainty raises hopes of more rate cuts
Trump trade uncertainty raises hopes of more rate cuts
Mortgage holders can expect more rate cuts this year as the Reserve Bank tries to predict where Donald Trump’s tariff “rollercoaster” is headed next.
There was little doubt about the RBA’s decision to slash the cash rate to 3.85 per cent on Tuesday.
Markets had fully priced in the central bank’s second interest rate reduction of 2025 ahead of the board’s meeting given inflation is back in the target band and a global trade war threatens the economy.
And futures traders were even more certain of further cuts after governor Michele Bullock’s revelations that the board considered a bumper 50 basis point cut.
The market was pricing in almost three more cuts before the end of the year, which Ms Bullock did not push back against, unlike after the board’s first move down in February.
Monetary policy was still restrictive, meaning the RBA had leeway to cut the rate further if inflation continues to ease, Ms Bullock said.
But the glide path down depends on developments overseas.
“It’s been a complete rollercoaster,” Ms Bullock said of the US president’s ever-changing tariff pronouncements.
The bank had been “completely blown out of the water by the scale and the scope”, she conceded.
While it was a “confident cut”, Ms Bullock said future moves were uncertain.
In the bank’s worst-case scenario forecast, in which all countries including Australia retaliate with higher tariffs, inflation would fall to the bottom of the RBA’s target band.
That would necessitate more rate cuts than the baseline scenario of three more by early 2026.
But in a more optimistic scenario, where tariffs are lowered to 2024 levels, inflation would remain higher.
That means less rate cuts.

Josh Brown says AI is more important than tariffs to the stock market
Josh Brown says AI is more important than tariffs to the stock market
Josh Brown, CEO of Ritholtz Wealth Management and CNBC PRO contributor , said Tuesday the most important theme for the stock market right now is not tariffs, but rather artificial intelligence. “The most important thing to come out of this past earnings report is that AI is more important than tariffs to the stock market,” Brown said on CNBC’s ” Halftime Report .” Citing JPMorgan research, the widely followed investor noted that the term “AI” was mentioned 2.6 times more often than the word “tariff” in this last round of S & P 500 earnings reports. Brown said those Big Tech companies affirming or even raising guidance saved the entire stock market from the massive turmoil in April. For example, Microsoft issued surprisingly strong guidance at the end of April, lifting shares up more than 20% this quarter. Meta was one of the companies that increased its 2025 capital expenditures. “This is an AI driven tape. This is still the most important theme in the entire market,” Brown said. “Yes, there are other themes. Yes, there are other sectors doing well, but absent AI, there’s just no chance that we would have pulled this this spring out of the hole the way that we have, and that’s because of the affirmed guidance.” Brown said he’s bullish on chipmaker Nvidia headed into its quarterly earnings next week, calling it the most important company in the AI story. “It’s the sun, and AI is a solar system, revolving around it,” Brown said, referring to Nvidia. Fill a bit of year-long wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 with this chaotic new game
Fill a bit of year-long wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 with this chaotic new game
Look, it’s time to face reality: it’ll be another year until you can play Grand Theft Auto 6. I know, I know — you were probably hoping that you’d wake up this week and discover that its delay to May 26, 2026 was just a dream. Sadly, them’s the breaks, kid. You’re going to need to play some other things to fill that gap, whether its something like ******: The Old Country or other vehicular crime games like Mario Kart World (at least the way I plan to play it).
But don’t worry, I’m not just here to **** you out. I am nothing if not constructive, so I come bearing a recommendation to help ease your sorrow, if only for a few weeks. Deliver at All Costs is a delightfully chaotic new game that takes inspiration from the original Grand Theft Auto games, back when the series had a top-down perspective. It’s a compact slice of open-world mayhem that GTA fans are sure to get a kick out of.
Published by Konami, Deliver at All Costs follows a delivery driver named Winston who gets a new gig in the quiet town of St. Monique circa 1959. His job is simple: deliver packages around town in his ******* pick up truck. How hard can that be?
To answer that question, Deliver at All Costs begins with one heck of a joke. At the very start of the game, I exit my apartment and get into my car. I instinctively press down my right trigger to accelerate. Instead of moving forward, my car blasts backwards and crashes through a storefront that crumbles into a million pieces. It’s a perfect introduction. It not only tells me that every piece of the city is destructible, but also that I’m in for a full slapstick comedy of errors.
That’s what the full game delivers over the course of its varied jobs, each of which plays with physics in creative ways. In one mission, I need to haul a living Marlin across town. It thrashes in the ********* of my truck, throwing off my steering. Another mission has me delivering a balloon inflating machine, one that keeps lifting my truck into the air anytime my wheels even slightly come off the ground. All of that happens from a top down perspective that pulls inspiration from Grand Theft Auto 2.
Konami
A game like this lives and dies by how many ways it can twist a simple idea around. While its frontloaded with its best jokes, there are a lot of comedic gags throughout that keep missions diverse. One highlight tasks me with racing toy cars to kids around a neighborhood, piloting them almost like unwieldy slot cars. The cops take notice and deploy a squad of tiny police cars after me, which try to ram into my vehicles and blow them up. I didn’t know what to expect next from each mission, which kept me playing even when its dull story and traditional open-world collect-a-thon hooks didn’t hold my interest.
The real appeal, though, is more primal. The fully destructible maps are just a delight to ****** into. For the most part, I tried to do my job like a good upstanding citizen, obeying traffic laws as best as possible. Naturally, that’s not always possible. I’d often find myself barreling through a building and watching bits and pieces fly out of it as I accelerated through the other side. The citizens of its explorable spaces don’t take kindly to being plowed over either, as they’ll attack my truck and force me to get out and repair it. Fortunately, I can craft upgrades to help me deal with that, like hydraulic doors that I can use to knock away pesky pedestrians. It all makes for some satisfying emergent comedy as I turn quiet 1950s towns into my own personal demotion derby.
While it feels a little long in the tooth for what it is and uses its best ideas too fast, Deliver at All Costs is a fun little gem in the vein of something like Maneater. That is to say that it delivers a light, fun, and funny premise and executes it well enough to make it all worth the curiosity. And hey, what else are you going to do for the next year while you wait for Grand Theft Auto 6? Get behind the wheel and deliver some chaos.
Deliver at All Costs launches on May 22 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Witcher 4 Is “Not Woke” For Starring Ciri, Geralt Voice Actor Says
Witcher 4 Is “Not Woke” For Starring Ciri, Geralt Voice Actor Says
The Witcher 4 starring Ciri does not make the game “woke,” according to Geralt voice actor Doug Cockle. He said in an interview with Fall Damage that it’s “just stupid” for anyone to think this.
He said Witcher fans who think this way might want to “read the damn books,” referring to author Andrzej Sapkowski’s work that serves as the inspiration for the game series.

Now Playing: The Witcher IV – Official Cinematic Reveal Trailer Breakdown
“It’s not woke,” Cockle said, as reported by IGN. “There’s nothing woke about it. [Ciri]’s a cool character from The Witcher, and they’re gonna focus on that character, and that’s awesome.”
We’re not exactly sure how Cockle might define “woke.” It’s a term often thrown around without any specific meaning, after all.
After a trilogy of games star starred Geralt, Cockle said, “We’ve seen the end of Geralt’s journey,” adding that he celebrates Ciri and the fact that she’s the protagonist of The Witcher 4.
“If you read the books, then you understand why CD Projekt went down this avenue,” Cockle said about choosing Ciri as the protagonist. “There’s a whole rich world of stuff to explore with Ciri, that they didn’t do when they put her into Witcher 3, because the story was about Geralt. But she hints at it.”
“If you think it’s woke, read the damn books–they’re good, first of all. And secondly, you won’t think it’s so woke anymore,” he said.
The Witcher 4 kicks off a new trilogy of Witcher games that will span The Witcher 4-6. All of these games will be released within a six-year window after The Witcher 4 launches.
Geralt will appear in The Witcher 4, but only in a smaller, supporting role. Game director Sebastian Kalemba told PC Gamer that it was a “natural choice” for The Witcher 4 to tell its story from Ciri’s perspective, building off the narrative in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
“There’s plenty of room for her and for us, also, to build on top of [her]. There’s so much room for exploration, and because she’s such a nuanced character, the beginning of her journey gives us freedom and so many opportunities to be able to dig in and use [that] for good,” he said.
In other news, Kalemba recently discussed how he wants players the rewards for their choices in The Witcher 4.
In addition to The Witcher 4, CD Projekt is developing a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and a Witcher 1 remake. Additionally, the company recently reached a deal with Saudi Arabia for a new game.
