NYT Strands today: hints, spangram and answers for Tuesday, May 20
NYT Strands today: hints, spangram and answers for Tuesday, May 20
Strands is a brand new daily puzzle from the New York Times. A trickier take on the classic word search, you’ll need a keen eye to solve this puzzle.
Like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be a bit difficult to solve some days. There’s no shame in needing a little help from time to time. If you’re stuck and need to know the answers to today’s Strands puzzle, check out the solved puzzle below.
How to play Strands
You start every Strands puzzle with the goal of finding the “theme words” hidden in the grid of letters. Manipulate letters by dragging or tapping to craft words; double-tap the final letter to confirm. If you find the correct word, the letters will be highlighted blue and will no longer be selectable.
If you find a word that isn’t a theme word, it still helps! For every three non-theme words you find that are at least four letters long, you’ll get a hint — the letters of one of the theme words will be revealed and you’ll just have to unscramble it.
Every single letter on the grid is used to spell out the theme words and there is no overlap. Every letter will be used once, and only once.
Each puzzle contains one “spangram,” a special theme word (or words) that describe the puzzle’s theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. When you find the spangram, it will be highlighted yellow.
The goal should be to complete the puzzle quickly without using too many hints.
Hint for today’s Strands puzzle

Venus Aerospace Tests Breakthrough RDRE Engine With First Flight in US
Venus Aerospace Tests Breakthrough RDRE Engine With First Flight in US
In a hypersonic propulsion milestone, Houston-based startup Venus Aerospace has announced the first successful U.S. test flight of a rotating detonation rocket engine (RDRE). The test took place at 9:37 a.m. EDT on Wednesday (May 14) at Spaceport America in New Mexico and was a big technological leap. A compact test rocket, equipped with Venus’s experimental RDRE, lifted off successfully, confirming the engine’s operational potential beyond simulations. Venus believes this milestone brings them closer to affordable and sustainable high-speed flight from conventional runways using revolutionary aerospace systems.
Venus Aerospace Validates RDRE in Flight, Paving Way for Mach 6 Hypersonic Travel from Runways
As per the report by Venus Aerospace, the RDRE flight represents the first time such a technology has been successfully tested in the U.S. using real-world flight input. CEO Sassie Duggleby said this was the product of five years of working on making hypersonic travel scalable and practical.
Her comments highlighted that the engine is now officially in active flight, after initially being displayed under control. The concept of the RDRE is essentially to improve thrust and fuel efficiency by swapping out conventional combustion for a rotating detonation wave.
Projected to have speeds up to Mach 6, or six times the speed of sound, the technology might allow launch from runways without the need for launchers. Venus’s RDRE works alongside its VDR2 air-breathing detonation ramjet, forming a complete propulsion system for sustained hypersonic travel.
Andrew Duggleby, CTO, said the milestone shows the engine performing well without the laboratory-type conditions in place, and that now they have flight data that the capability is scalable. The pairing he’s written about does away with the need for complicated multi-stage rockets or external boosters, laying the foundation for how high-speed transport could change.
Rotating detonation offers a more efficient, compact, and higher-pressure propulsion system. But with the atmospheric testing behind it, the company is shifting its attention toward full-scale propulsion testing of the Stargazer M4, a Mach 4-capable reusable passenger aircraft.
Venus Aerospace is incorporating the successful RDRE design into commercial aerospace applications to establish a new era of commercial and military aviation brought closer together at fast, fuel-efficient hypersonic aeroplane speeds.

Rep. LaMonica McIver charged with felony assault after Newark ICE protest
Rep. LaMonica McIver charged with felony assault after Newark ICE protest
The Justice Department on Tuesday filed felony charges against New Jersey Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver for allegedly assaulting a federal law enforcement officer during a clash earlier this month between protesters and police outside of a Newark, New Jersey, ICE detention center, charging documents show.
Interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba announced Monday that her office had charged McIver with “assaulting, impeding and interfering with law enforcement” on May 9, when law enforcement clashed with elected representatives and protestors who claim the detention center is dangerous and ********. Habba is a close Trump ally and served as his personal attorney in his New York criminal trial.
In the same announcement, Habba said her office was dropping trespassing charges against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who was arrested after he attempted to join McIver and two other members of Congress from New Jersey who went to the 10,000-bed center, named Delaney Hall, to review the facility as part of legally allowed congressional oversight. Baraka was charged with one count of misdemeanor trespassing, which, if convicted, could have resulted in a maximum of 30 days in jail.
A special agent with the Newark, New Jersey, division of Homeland Security’s investigation team alleged in a sworn affidavit that after McIver and others attempted to block Baraka’s arrest by creating a human shield, she “slammed her forearm into the body” of a uniformed Homeland Security Investigations agent and “reached out and tried to restrain” that agent from grabbing the mayor. He also alleged that after Baraka was in custody, the congresswoman “pushed an ICE officer,” and “used each of her forearms to forcibly strike” them.

In a statement after the charges were announced, McIver said that the charges are “purely political” and “mischaracterize and distort” what happened outside Delaney Hall. Paul J. Fishman, an attorney for McIver, said it was “spectacularly inappropriate” to charge her over the Delaney Hall incident, and said that “ICE agents chose to escalate what should have been a peaceful situation into chaos.”
She added that the charges are “meant to criminalize and deter legislative oversight” of ICE detention centers and said she looks forward to “the truth being laid out clearly in court.”
McIver told reporters Tuesday on Capitol Hill that she was not made aware of the charges before Habba’s X post, and said that she found out about the decision to charge her on the social media site. Habba’s post announcing the charges before they were filed and unsealed was a break from traditional Justice Department precedent. For years, charges would be filed and unsealed before the Justice Department commented on the case.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Jersey has not responded to comment on why the charges were publicly announced before being unsealed.
In footage posted online by the Department of Homeland Security, McIver, wearing a red jacket, can be seen along the Delaney Hall fence as Baraka is being arrested. As the group of protestors and law enforcement groups together and starts to brush up against each other, McIver is spotted using her elbows to move herself past an officer.

Wayne Carey set to be welcomed back to North Melbourne for centenary match celebrations
Wayne Carey set to be welcomed back to North Melbourne for centenary match celebrations
North Melbourne legend Wayne Carey is set to be welcomed back to the club alongside former teammates Anthony Stevens and Glenn Archer for the club’s centenary match later this season.
Carey, Stevens and Archer will all be present for the Round 17 clash against the Western Bulldogs, which takes place in prime time on Thursday night and celebrates the Roos’ centenary.
The trio will show a united front, nearly 25 years since Carey’s messy exit from the club.
It comes just six months after the club unveiled a video celebration of the centenary year that interestingly excluded Carey.
Former teammate Corey McKernan was vocal at the time, but Carey and other North Melbourne greats, including Stevens and Archer will all be present for the special night.
Channel 7’s Caroline Wilson revealed the exclusive details of Carey’s return on 7NEWS Melbourne and The Agenda Setters.
Camera IconCarey and Archer were at the club’s 25-year premiership reunion, but Stevens skipped it. Credit: Getty Images
“All three men (Carey, Stevens, Archer) are well aware that they will be there together and united for the first time,” Wilson said
“There was speculation last year when North was unveiled their centenary jumper. And if you remember, there were North champions from through the eras and there was no Wayne Carey and Corey McKernan was very upset about this.
“In 2022, a year later, they had a 25-year premiership reunion for the ‘96 flag, and there was an altercation at a pub between Anthony Stevens and Wayne Carey. We know the history there.
“They had to be separated. I don’t think it was physical, but it was not nice.
“And when there was a motorcade the next day at Marvel Stadium, Anthony Stevens wasn’t there and Wayne Carey was.
“So the club has worked really hard to get all these guys within the fold. And clearly you can’t celebrate your 100th anniversary without Wayne Carey being there.”

Luke Hodge said it will be an important night for the fans.
“Couldn’t agree more. This is just as much about the supporters who grew up watching the captain of their football team.
“He captained two premierships and for him not to be at the 100-year celebration. I think a lot of supporters would walk away upset about that, because he was such a big part of them throughout the 90s.
“He was the face of the AFL. Some have touted him as the best player that they’ve ever seen play the game.”
“All clubs have disagreements, but the club’s ******* than anyone, and that’s me, the celebration is about the players and it’s about the supporters.
“They’ve had some tough times over the years to go back and put a smile on their face, from the ‘96, from the ‘99. I think that will pass the argument. And what happened then? For the ******* part of the club.”
Wilson also said Carey has been attending training sessions at the club with his children.
“And I think it’s been a slow and steady overture. He would say he was never banned from the club, but at times, probably didn’t feel all that welcome,” Wilson added.
Players from the 1975, ‘77, ‘96 and ‘99 premiership sides will all be there, along with the AFLW premiership team from last year.
Carey was named North Melbourne’s greatest every player in 2019 despite his controversial exit from the club.
He captained the side to premierships in 1996 and 1999, won the best and fairest on four occasions, made seven All-*********** sides – four as captain – and inducted into both the North and *********** Football Hall of Fame.
Carey played 244 games for the Roos, but left in disgrace after his much-publicised affair with teammate Stevens’ wife came to light.
He spent the final two years of his AFL career at Adelaide before embarking on a successful stint in the media.

Scientists Transform Lead into Gold, But Only for a Fleeting Moment
Scientists Transform Lead into Gold, But Only for a Fleeting Moment
Medieval alchemists would have been stunned to see lead turned into gold – but that’s what scientists at CERN’s Awesomely Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have done. Through near-miss collisions rather than head-on atomic bashes, the team at the ALICE collaboration can convert lead to gold at a rate of 89,000 atoms each second. Although each gold atom survived only a tiny fraction of a second, the experiment is a testament to the precision of modern particle physics. It serves as a testament to the LHC’s growing ability to change the very structure of the atom.
CERN Scientists Create Gold from Lead Using Proton Removal at LHC—But Only for a Split Second
As per the report from CERN, three protons are stripped from the lead nuclei, transforming them into gold. These odd metamorphoses occurred when lead atoms barely missed each other, resulting in powerful electric and magnetic fields that could have shuffled the particles. Their detectors would work on both large and small particle-event scales “because it’s the small ones that you need to see that those tiny changes would be different,” ALICE project chief Marco Van Leeuwen mentioned.
Despite the astonishing atom-per-second count, the total mass of gold created between 2015 and 2018 added up to just 29 picograms — far less than visible to the naked eye. Uliana Dmitrieva, a physicist from the collaboration, highlighted that it represents the first observation of this type of gold production at the LHC and with their sophisticated detectors. Though recent upgrades have almost doubled output, the gold remains more symbolic, scientifically, than economically.
The findings have a broader significance than mere novelty. As physicist John Jowett explains, this is fine-tuning of electromagnetic dissociation in theoretical models, and it helps estimate beam losses, which are important for improving the LHC as well as future colliders. While commercial alchemy remains in the realm of science fiction, it helps push forward the understanding of particle manipulation and atomic science.
This transient artifice of gold illustrates not only human creativity but the distance technology today has travelled from the desires of the alchemists of old.

The Criterion Collection of video games is finally here
The Criterion Collection of video games is finally here
Video game design studio Lost in Cult announced a new physical game label called Editions. The label will release “prestige” editions of beloved games that include original box art, 40-page booklets, and other extras.
Lost in Cult is best known for releasing books on video game through its Design Works series, as well as vinyl records featuring game soundtracks. Editions is an extension of that work, continuing the design company’s focus on game preservation and curated content. Think of the project as a Criterion Collection for video games, preserving prestigious titles and bundling them with additional context that underlines their importance to the medium.
Three games have been announced for the first wave of releases: Immortality, Thank Goodness You’re Here, and The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow. All three are critically acclaimed indies from this decade (Immortality was Digital Trends’ runner-up choice for game of the year in 2022, narrowly losing to Elden Ring). Each comes with a poster, art cards, a booklet featuring essays and interviews, and more physical extras.
Lost in Cult
All three are available to order now and will retail for £60. Lost in Cult will ship Editions worldwide and says that they will ship within six months, though it is targeting a three month turnaround.
At launch, Editions will only get PS5 and Nintendo Switch releases. Thank Goodness You’re Here will be available on both platforms, Immortality is getting a PS5-only release, and The Excavation of Hobb’s Barrow will be for Switch. There will be a limited number of copies to order for each platform, though Lost in Cult says that it will release standard edition versions of the game at retailers too.
Lost in Cult confirms that Nintendo Switch 2 Editions (not to be confused with … Nintendo Switch 2 Editions) are planned for the future and those will always be “full editions” rather than Game-Key Cards.
More titles are coming soon. While Lost in Cult will skip June, it plans to release its next Edition in July for Nintendo Switch and PS5. It teases that it’s an “artful” game. Future release are planned through 2026.
The first three Editions are available to order now via Lost in Cult.

Scientists Discover Three-Eyed Sea Moth From Half a Billion Years Ago
Scientists Discover Three-Eyed Sea Moth From Half a Billion Years Ago
Scientists have discovered a half a million years old three eyed “sea moth” from a cache of museum fossils in Canada. These finger-sized feisty predators are speculated to lurk in the primordial seas, hooking prey into its mouth while breathing through long gills on its butt. This species is named Mosura fentoni because of its resemblance to the fictional Japanese monster Mothra. This species, belonging to the group of ancestral arthropods called radiodonts, gives valuable insight towards the surprising diversity and adaptations in the ancient arthropods.
About the species
According to a study by Paleontologists Joseph Moysiuk and Jean-Bernard Caron, earliest-diverging arthropods, the radiodonts, exhibited comparatively limited variability in tagmosis. Unlike them, the newly found species M. fentoni exhibits up to 26 trunk segments, the highest number reported for any radiodont, despite being among the smallest known.
The species also had the longest gills relative to body length of all known radiodonts. the back-end gills were most likely a specialized system for respiration; horseshoe crabs, wood lice and some other living arthropods have subsequently evolved a similar system. Researchers aren’t certain why M. fentoni needed the long butt gills, but they speculated it was an adaptation to low-oxygen environments or an active lifestyle.
While paleontologists are still learning why Mosura fentoni had a third eye, researchers believe the eye may have been used to detect light and the seascape it moved through. Perhaps Mosura fentoni’s median eye was used to orient themselves during high-speed hunts, according to the U.K. Natural History Museum.
Key Insights
Arthropods are a large group of invertebrates with hard exoskeletons, segmented bodies and jointed legs. Today, they make up around three-quarters of all living animals, including insects, arachnids and crustaceans. One of the reasons for their evolutionary success is their specialized body segments. Radiodonts are probably the first group of arthropods to branch out in the evolutionary tree, so they provide key insight into ancestral traits for the entire group. The new species emphasizes that these early arthropods were already surprisingly diverse and were adapting in a comparable way to their distant modern relatives.

Investors are running out of places to hide if things go wrong, says KKR’s McVey
Investors are running out of places to hide if things go wrong, says KKR’s McVey
One troubling development has emerged during the recent market turbulence: Investors, seeking some place to ride out the shockwaves, increasingly have nowhere to go. Investors, who have long relied on a traditional mix of 60/40 stocks and bonds to achieve growth while managing risk, can no longer depend on bonds for protection when equities are falling. The 30-year U.S. Treasury yield briefly topped 5% this week, though it has since pulled back slightly from those levels. Bond yields and prices move in opposite directions. The U.S. dollar, a safe haven asset that typically rises during periods of market turbulence, has instead weakened after the April 2 tariff announcement fueled an exodus from U.S. assets. The U.S. dollar index, representing the value of the greenback against a basket of global currencies, has retreated sharply by more than 10% from its January highs. US30Y YTD mountain US30Y The behavior signifies a regime change in the way investors should be thinking about asset allocation, as geopolitical risks weigh on the market cycle, according to Henry H. McVey, head of global macro and asset allocation and CIO of KKR’s Balance Sheet. He was also once the chief U.S. investment strategist at Morgan Stanley. “During risk off days, government bonds are no longer fulfilling their role as the ‘shock-absorbers’ in a traditional portfolio,” wrote McVey. “As such, there is now an ongoing clear and present danger for global allocators who bought into the idea that when stocks sell off, bonds will always rally.” “While bonds and stocks were selling off together, the U.S. dollar was also weakening,” McVey continued. “As a result, there has been a growing fear that, because of dollar weakness, local currency liabilities have the potential to become a more severe drag on performance than expected, especially during turbulent days in the market.” McVey worries the slump in U.S. Treasurys and the U.S. dollar are long-term trends, especially as more investors decide to pull back from overweight positions in U.S. assets in favor of a more global diversification. While that could prove difficult to execute when it comes to the U.S. stock market, which is roughly twice the size of Europe, Japan and India combined, it could prove fruitful for fixed income, he said. “If our Regime Change thesis continues to play out the way we think it will, the traditional role of U.S. government bonds in many global portfolios will become more diminished,” McVey wrote. “The reality is that the U.S. government is burdened with a large fiscal deficit and high leverage, and its bonds are likely over-owned by many global investors who have benefitted from both positive interest rate differentials and a strong U.S. dollar.” McVey said local bonds — as in, those that are international — could give investors the diversification U.S. government bonds “might struggle to deliver.” He’s also positive on private equity, as well as infrastructure.

Steam Is Coming to Future Xbox Console Because “Everything is going to be developed around PC environments” From Now Onwards (Report)
Steam Is Coming to Future Xbox Console Because “Everything is going to be developed around PC environments” From Now Onwards (Report)
A few years ago, the idea of Microsoft embracing rival platforms would’ve raised eyebrows. However, it has gradually shifted its gaming strategy to become more open and platform-inclusive, encouraging players to access their games across devices, whether on Xbox, PC, through the cloud, or even PS.
Driving this shift are initiatives like Game Pass and cross-platform releases. According to a report from an insider, Microsoft may already be working on the next step in that vision: integrating Steam into its future consoles as part of a deeper alignment with the PC gaming ecosystem.
Steam integration already in testing, says insider
According to insider eXtas1s, Microsoft has already begun internal testing of Steam integration within its ecosystem. The Steam app has reportedly appeared under the name “Steam Developer Beta” in Microsoft’s list of support software, accessible only to select employees and collaborators.
While this isn’t publicly available yet, it signals that the company is laying the technical groundwork for a more seamless experience between its platforms. This potential integration isn’t just about convenience, it reflects a strategic shift. As the insider said:
Everything is going to be developed around PC environments. Those logically need Steam integration and you’ll have that in your Microsoft Store when you turn on your next generation Xbox console.
By allowing Steam to run natively on future Xbox hardware, the company is opening the door to a massive library of PC titles, indie games, and user-created content previously inaccessible on consoles.
Additionally, it also positions Xbox as a more flexible, PC-like device, part of a broader move to unify the user experience across Windows and Xbox. This isn’t the first time such a possibility has been discussed.
Other industry watchers have previously suggested that deeper Steam integration could be on the horizon. Now, with the recent report, early testing underway, Microsoft seems to be actively exploring how to make it a reality for the next console generation.
A glimpse at the future of Xbox
The console is turning into a gaming Swiss Army knife. | Image Credit: Xbox
Microsoft’s apparent move to integrate Steam isn’t just a feature update; it hints at what the next generation of Xbox hardware might become. Several speculation suggests that Microsoft’s upcoming console (alongside a handheld), expected around 2027, could blur the lines even further.
The goal seems to be a unified platform where users can access Windows-based software, Steam, Game Pass, and Xbox titles in one place, without the limitations traditionally associated with consoles.
Just imagine if Steam becomes a native part of the Xbox experience, it would not only solidify the console’s position as a hybrid device but also offer the ease of console gaming with the freedom and depth of a PC platform.
For gamers, that means more choice, more flexibility, and far fewer barriers between where and how they play. And for Microsoft, it could be a defining move in shaping the future of console gaming, not as a walled garden, but as an open gateway into the broader gaming universe.

NASA’s LROC Captures ispace RESILIENCE Landing Site Ahead of June 2025 Lunar Touchdown
NASA’s LROC Captures ispace RESILIENCE Landing Site Ahead of June 2025 Lunar Touchdown
NASA’s LROC (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera) has taken high resolution picture of the landing area for the ispace SMBC and HAKUTO-R Mission 2 lunar lander. It has been named RESILIENCE. This is scheduled to land on June 5, 2025, at a plain lava site near the north of the Moon, and within Mare Frigoris, dispersed with large-scale wrinkle ridges. This image gives enough details to the researchers preparing for this mission of lunar attempted ambition. This view is around 3.13 miles wide below the north.
Ancient Lunar Terrain of Mare Frigoris
According to the research by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Mare Frigoris is a basaltic plain built before 3.5 billion years, at the time of volcanic activities on the Moon. Image formed by LROC displays a terrain formed by the ancient lava flow with wrinkle ridges, built by tectonic features due to the cooling crust of the Moon. Such formations give valuable clues regarding geological history of the Moon and the driving forces that shaped its surface.
Why Mare Frigoris Was Chosen
This landing site has been chosen for relative smoothness and scientific interests. Mare Frigoris provides a stable surface, ideal for its soft landing. Ispace’s RESILIENCE is the second Japanese-led mission if it touches down successfully after HAKUTO-R in 2023, which ended due to a ****** descent.
A Commercial Step Toward the Moon
The mission quite valuable because it is a commercial venture operated by Japans ispace in collaboration with SMBC Group. The ander is designed to showcase key technologies for future lunar logistics, long-term lunar infrastructure and resource exploration. There is a need to build a sustainable lunar economy with the rise in international interest in the Moon including Artemis program and more.
Mapping the Path to Lunar Success
With the June launch window coming near, the new image generation by LROC helps the scientists to refine their landing path and allow them to understand the site. With the success of RESILIENCE, there will be another step forward to humanity’s renewed presence on the Moon.

Josh Brown says AI is more important than tariffs to the stock market
Josh Brown says AI is more important than tariffs to the stock market
Josh Brown, CEO of Ritholtz Wealth Management and CNBC PRO contributor , said Tuesday the most important theme for the stock market right now is not tariffs, but rather artificial intelligence. “The most important thing to come out of this past earnings report is that AI is more important than tariffs to the stock market,” Brown said on CNBC’s ” Halftime Report .” Citing JPMorgan research, the widely followed investor noted that the term “AI” was mentioned 2.6 times more often than the word “tariff” in this last round of S & P 500 earnings reports. Brown said those Big Tech companies affirming or even raising guidance saved the entire stock market from the massive turmoil in April. For example, Microsoft issued surprisingly strong guidance at the end of April, lifting shares up more than 20% this quarter. Meta was one of the companies that increased its 2025 capital expenditures. “This is an AI driven tape. This is still the most important theme in the entire market,” Brown said. “Yes, there are other themes. Yes, there are other sectors doing well, but absent AI, there’s just no chance that we would have pulled this this spring out of the hole the way that we have, and that’s because of the affirmed guidance.” Brown said he’s bullish on chipmaker Nvidia headed into its quarterly earnings next week, calling it the most important company in the AI story. “It’s the sun, and AI is a solar system, revolving around it,” Brown said, referring to Nvidia. Teenagers admit torturing and killing kittens in Ruislip
Teenagers admit torturing and killing kittens in Ruislip
Two teenagers have pleaded guilty to torturing and killing two kittens in Ruislip, west London.
A police investigation began when a kitten was found hanging from a tree in a field near Ruislip Golf Club while the other was on the ground nearby on 3 May.
The 16-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court and admitted causing unnecessary suffering to the protected animals by “mutilating and killing” them.
They also both admitted one count of possession of a knife at Ruislip Golf Course.
The court heard the kittens were found with ropes attached to them and had been cut open.
The pair, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in the dock flanked by security officers and spoke only to confirm their personal details.
The court heard members of the public had seen the teenage boy in possession of an animal carrier and “became concerned” when they later saw him and the 16-year-old girl running from the scene.
Knives, blowtorches and scissors were also found at the scene, the hearing was told.
After the kittens were found, police appealed for information and released CCTV images of suspects and an image of a ****** bag believed to have been used to carry the animals.
Two other teenagers, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, arrested on Friday on suspicion of animal cruelty, were released without charge, the Metropolitan Police said.

Early Memorial Day deals are popping up left, right, and center as the week nears the national holiday on May 26th. This gorgeous monitor deal is one for the hardcore gamer who wants no compromise when it comes to both picture quality and performance. You can find this Memorial Day offering at Dell, where the Alienware AW2725DF gaming monitor is now $649, reduced from $899, saving you a tasty $250. The AW2725D measures 27 inches diagonally and uses a QD-OLED panel with a native 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. When we reviewed the Alienware AW2725DF, we were impressed by the speed of the monitor, first with its 360Hz refresh rate and secondly, the 0.03ms response time, which delivers perfect motion resolution without needing strobing or overdrive. A larger color gamut than other QD-OLED monitors, the AW2725DF doesn’t include internal speakers or an analog headphone jack, but this didn’t put us off awarding the AW2725DF with five stars and an Editor’s Choice award.

US authorities to set targets to lower medicine prices
US authorities to set targets to lower medicine prices
The US Department of Health and Human Services says its is setting most-favoured-nation prescription drug pricing targets following an executive order from President Donald Trump last week aimed at lowering the prices of branded medicines for US consumers.
HHS wants US prescription drug prices to drop to the lowest possible price among countries that are members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, which includes most of the world’s largest economies.
The new pricing targets would focus on OECD countries that have a gross domestic product per capita of at least 60 per cent of US per-capita GDP, the department said.
Trump wants prescription drug prices to drop by between 59 per cent and 90 per cent.
Wall Street analysts and legal experts have said his order would be difficult to implement and is likely to face legal challenges.
Trump tried in his first term to bring drug prices in the United States in line with other countries but was blocked by the courts.
The US pays by far the most for prescription medicines, often nearly three times more than those in other developed countries.
“The idea here is that within that set of fairly developed countries the US wants to be the most favoured nation,” said Yunan Ji, assistant professor at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business.
Japan, Canada and some countries in western Europe meet the 60 per cent threshold that HHS has laid out.
Smaller OECD countries like Estonia or Costa Rica would fall short of that criteria.
Ji said that a most favoured country pricing policy usually works in a small market but if the US tries to implement such a policy, it could change the “global equilibrium” since it is the largest prescription drug market.
“It’s almost certain that drug manufacturers will have to renegotiate their contracts with other countries,” she added.
The US also invests heavily in pharmaceutical research and development and drug makers have said drastic price cuts would stifle R&D and innovation.
The agency said US Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Director Mehmet Oz will share their specific targets for medicine manufacturers in the coming weeks.
“We expect pharmaceutical manufacturers to fulfil their commitment to lower prices for American patients, or we will take action to ensure they do,” Kennedy said on Tuesday.
Trump’s order also directs the government to consider direct-to-consumer purchasing programs that would sell drugs at the prices other countries pay.

Trump fails to convince SALT caucus to back tax bill

President Donald Trump failed during a visit Tuesday to Capitol Hill to sway key Republicans from blue states to drop opposition to a major tax bill, which they say does not go far enough in boosting so-called SALT deductions for their constituents.
Opposition to the bill from the “SALT Caucus” threatens to derail the tax legislation, which Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., hope to see passed before Memorial Day weekend.

Spotify is gearing up for a move to fresh record highs, according to the charts
Spotify is gearing up for a move to fresh record highs, according to the charts
We last wrote about Spotify on Oct. 22 just before the stock broke to all-time highs. SPOT is higher by about 75% since then, and we see the technicals and fundamentals of the stock as constructive. We’re gearing up to add to our position here. In October, we observed the chart consolidating below the 2021 highs of $389, anticipating a move to record levels. Last year was significant for the company. as it swung from a GAAP four-quarter loss in the prior year to a profit. Looking ahead to 2026, analysts are looking for 85.66% growth to $10.57 per share. Despite the broader market volatility in 2025 from tariffs and a credit downgrade, SPOT continues to show incredible relative strength and is simply consolidating at the range highs around $660. We are targeting a move to Fibonacci projection resistance shown in blue at $860 in 2025. Moving down to the daily chart, we see price action in 2025 that includes two volatile drops below $500. However, the buyers snapped up this name pushing right back towards all-time highs amid the bumpy and volatile trade of the year. First-quarter results missed analyst expectations, but a dive into the quarterly financials show the miss was driven by greater expenses tied to payroll taxes associated with employee salaries and benefits. The results were also impacted by a shift in the timing of equity grants from Q1 to Q2. These are likely to have a temporary impact on the bottom line — while the long-term growth story streams ahead. This indicates there is an underlying strength to the company, despite the 62 times 2025 earnings valuation ($660 / $10.57 GAAP) earnings. Looking out to 2026, however the valuation is a bit more reasonable at 50 times earnings for a company that is consistently growing top line revenues — and is maximizing bottom line earnings by efficiently using capital. In Q1, Spotify demonstrated improved margins generating $534 million in free cash flow, 158% Y/Y growth, and 17.7% return on invested capital (ROIC). At the heart of this growth story is a steady increase in monthly active users, as well as investment in AI-driven features to power individualized content for users. At the end of 2024, Spotify launched its Spotify Partner Program to incentive creators to come to the platform and share revenues aiming to compete with YouTube. Considering the major jump Spotify has with podcasts, I expect them to pursue this aggressively while Google is coming under attack from multiple angles. In our Active Opps portfolio, we hold a 5.12% allocation. After publishing this article I’m going to increase the holding up to around 7% of the portfolio. -Todd Gordon, founder of Inside Edge Capital, LLC DISCLOSURES: Gordon owns SPOT personally and in his wealth management company Inside Edge Capital. “Think About Saving America From the Mess You Made”
“Think About Saving America From the Mess You Made”
Neil Young, one of Donald Trump’s most vocal critics in the music industry, weighed in on the president’s online fight with Bruce Springsteen and other musicians this week, thanking Springsteen for speaking up while encouraging the world’s most powerful person to focus on more pressing issues at hand than what recording artists say about him.
“Bruce and thousands of musicians think you are ruining America. You worry about that instead of the dyin’ kids in Gaza,” Young wrote on his website late Monday. “That’s your problem. I am not scared of you. Neither are the rest of us. You shut down FEMA when we needed it most. That’s your problem Trump. STOP THINKING ABOUT WHAT ROCKERS ARE SAYING. Think about saving America from the mess you made.”
More from The Hollywood Reporter
Trump’s fight with Springsteen started last Friday, after Springsteen criticized the Trump administration during a concert in the U.K., saying that the U.S. is “currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.” Trump responded with a rant on Truth Social, calling Springsteen a “dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker” and vaguely threatening that Springsteen “ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just ‘standard fare’. Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
Aside from Springsteen, Trump also posted about Taylor Swift last Friday, claiming her popularity dipped after he said he hated her. “Taylor Swift is right. So is Bruce. You know how I feel,” Young wrote. “You are more worried about yourself than AMERICA. Wake up Trump!! Remember what the White House is?”
Springsteen, for his part, was unmoved by Trump’s words, criticizing him again during the next show. By Monday, the president posted another long-winded rant, calling for an investigation into appearances from musicians like Springsteen, Beyoncé and Bono at Kamala Harris’s presidential rallies, claiming without citing evidence that they took money in exchange for endorsements.
“Remember what the White House is? 86/47??? That’s what you think about,” Young further wrote, seeming to reference the White House response to a James Comey Instagram post last week. “You are forgetting your real job. You work for us. Wake up Republicans! This guy is out of control. We need a real president!”
Young has never shied from making his disdain for Trump clear. Back in April, he posted a message on voicing his concern that Trump would bar him from returning to the U.S. after his upcoming European tour this summer due to his words about the president. Later that month, he also performed alongside Joan Baez and Maggie Rogers at a Bernie Sanders rally in Los Angeles.
In a separate post on hi site, Young shared a video of Springsteen criticizing the Trump administration during a concert, writing “THANKS BRUCE” in the headline.
“As a *********-American dual citizen, I stand with the great majority, thanking you for speaking so eloquently and truthfully on behalf of the American people,” Young said. “We are with you my old friend. Your great songs of America ring true as you sing them to Europe and the world!”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin: Everton condemn “threatening, racist, and misogynistic” abuse of striker’s wife Sandra
Dominic Calvert-Lewin: Everton condemn “threatening, racist, and misogynistic” abuse of striker’s wife Sandra
Everton have condemned “threatening, racist, and misogynistic” abuse aimed towards the wife of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Sandra Calvert-Lewin received online abuse after posting a message in support of her husband, who played his final game at Goodison Park in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Southampton.
The 28-year-old forward scored 30 Premier League goals for the Toffees at their home ground – a record bettered only by Duncan Ferguson and Romelu Lukaku.
Following Everton’s finale at Goodison Park before relocating to their new Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock next season, Sandra Calvert-Lewin posted on Instagram: “30 goals at Goodison. Top 3 ever. They might not shout it – but we’re proud every single day.”
The English forward has endured a dismal campaign, scoring just twice at Goodison Park this season, and her post was criticised by some Toffees supporters.
The club said: “Everton Football Club strongly condemns the threatening, racist, and misogynistic abuse directed towards the wife of Dominic Calvert-Lewin on social media.
“This sinister and intimidating behaviour is not only deeply hurtful and distressing, it is also criminal – and does not represent the values of Everton or the overwhelming majority of our supporters.
“The club has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of discriminatory and abusive behaviour. We are working closely with Merseyside Police and the Premier League to ensure the individuals responsible are identified and held accountable for their actions.
“Threats or abuse of any kind – whether online or in person – are completely unacceptable and have no place in our game or in society. The club urges anyone who sees or experiences such behaviour to report it to the authorities and relevant social media platforms immediately.
“We will continue to offer our full support to Dominic and his family.”

US singer Chris Brown to re-apply for bail in ***
US singer Chris Brown to re-apply for bail in ***
US singer Chris Brown will again apply for bail after an English court remanded him into custody over a serious assault charge and threw his upcoming world tour into doubt.
Brown has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm in what prosecutors said was an “unprovoked attack” on a music producer at the Tape nightclub in central London in 2023.
The 36-year-old, who has not yet been asked to enter a plea to the charge, was arrested at a hotel in Manchester, northern England last week after returning to Britain.
The R&B star, a two-time Grammy Award winner known for hits such as Loyal, Run It and Under the Influence, was set to kick off his Breezy Bowl XX tour on June 8 in the Netherlands.
A judge at Manchester Magistrates’ Court refused to grant him bail ahead of a hearing at London’s Southwark Crown Court on June 13.
Brown will make a further application for bail at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday morning, court staff said on Tuesday.

People Are Sharing Seemingly “Harmless” Symptoms That Could Indicate A Medical Emergency
People Are Sharing Seemingly “Harmless” Symptoms That Could Indicate A Medical Emergency
If you’re anything like me, a sudden stomach pain might have you spiraling on WebMD, reading about worst-case scenarios. But in all seriousness, there are a handful of seemingly innocent medical symptoms that could actual indicate a real problem. Redditor BigTuna0890 asked, “What is a “seems to be harmless” symptom that requires an immediate trip to the ER?” Here’s what people said.
(However, please note that this post is not meant to take the place of medical advice.)
1.”A migraine that’s much more painful than usual. Apparently, a stroke is not always accompanied by the other well-known symptoms. I’m on blood thinners now.”

2.”Headache and a neck so stiff that you’re unable to look straight up. It could be a sign of meningitis (inflammation and swelling of the brain) that has gone so far that your brain is pressing down on the brainstem. And it could be lethal within hours.”
—fiendishrabbit
3.”This might not be ‘immediate trip to the ER,’ but it certainly is ‘make a doctor’s appointment ASAP’. f you notice a red spot on one breast that isn’t going away, if you have new orange-peel-like dimpling on one breast, or one breast appears swollen, any of those can be a sign of inflammatory breast *******. That’s a particularly aggressive form of breast ******* that’s usually only found in more advanced stages. You usually don’t have a lump.”

4.”Superficial burns to the face typically from BBQ or stove-lighting accidents. It may seem like just some singed eyebrows, but if you were inhaling at all when the accident happened, you could have burned the inside of your throat. Most people present with normal breathing, but as the injured tissues swell, it can close the airway. Most of these people feel fine directly following the accident and end up intubated if they make it to the hospital.”

5.”Sudden change in vision. In my case, it turned out to be a brain tumor. I waited too long, and now my vision loss is permanent. But I went early enough to still be alive.”

8.”Hit your head hard? Get it checked out. I had a friend who fell out of a chair at a work party and hit his head hard on the ground. He shook it off. Then he started complaining about vision problems over the next several weeks. His work performance suffered. Between work and his wife, the people around him pieced together that he could no longer read at the same level. It wasn’t his vision, it was his comprehension. He couldn’t even perceive what was actually wrong. Long story short, it was a serious traumatic brain injury. He had to go on disability and into rehabilitation therapy for over a year.”

10.”Irregular heartbeat. It’s not to be ignored. I had an irregular heartbeat for a day or two. Went to the doc. She immediately called an ambulance. 12.”Watery discharge during pregnancy. I was 25 weeks pregnant and noticed some watery discharge/ I was confused; I might have been peeing myself a little. If you Google ‘watery discharge while pregnant,’ Google tells you it’s totally normal. I felt totally normal otherwise and had no cramping, blood, or anything else. I called my OB after about 12 hours of this, just to check in after my husband felt concerned. I expected her to set up an appointment with me the next day, or go to urgent care in the morning, but she said to go to the ER immediately…”

“…Once I arrived at the ER, I expected to wait for hours. But they admitted me immediately. Turns out my water had broken (I was expecting a huge gush like you see in the movies!), and I was having contractions 1 minute apart that I couldn’t feel, and I was going into preterm labor. At 25 weeks, I was still in my second trimester, hadn’t planned a baby shower, and labor was something that felt a long way off… I hadn’t even started prepping our nursery! I spent 46 days in the antepartum unit of the hospital on magnesium drips and trying to delay labor as much as possible, and ended up having my baby at 32 weeks. After my long hospital stay and some time he spent in the NICU, he’s a happy and healthy one-year-old now!”

14.”Sudden loss of hearing in one ear. If it doesn’t recover within a few hours, get yourself to the ER immediately. You have about 24-26 hours during which treatment can bring your hearing back. After that, it’s permanent.”
—Away-Meal-9313
15.”A constant ‘runny nose.’ Especially if its clear, watery, and coming from only one nostril. And especially if it gets worse when you strain or stand, improves when you lie down, is sort of salty/metallic tasting, or is accompanied by new headaches, neck pain, or light sensitivity. 17.”I got a small cut, a little more than a scratch, on my arm cleaning under a conveyor at work. The sort of thing one barely notices. It was ****** with coal dust, so I rinsed it off. I didn’t give it a good soap and water scrub until I got home several hours later. A few days later, I had a dark red bump with what looked like a pimple on it where the scratch had been. I figured it could be an infection, but there was no pain or discomfort, so I figured it would heal…”
Kryssia Campos / Getty Images
“…After a few days of it remaining the same, it suddenly grew larger and nastier looking. Still no pain or discomfort. I figured I needed antibiotics, so I made an appointment with my doctor. It was going to be a few days. When talking to my mom, who is a nurse, on the phone, she said it’s serious and if I can’t see the doctor that same day, then I need to go to urgent care. I went to urgent care, and the nurse practitioner didn’t seem too worried. Then I rolled my sleeve all the way up, and they saw red streaks going from the infected area up towards my armpit. I was very surprised by what happened next since I imagine people in urgent care see all sorts of bad stuff.
They freaked out, saying I needed to go to the emergency room immediately. They asked if I felt ok and could drive myself. When I said yes, they said they’d call the hospital and give them my info and let them know I’m coming. They said I may have to stay for a couple days on IV antibiotics because I had sepsis, an infection spreading through my blood stream.I had to get lots of medicine, but I only stayed in the hospital for one day. Apparently, it was so serious because once the infection passes a certain threshold, people go from feeling fine, like I did, to deathly ill in minutes. Make sure to clean any cuts well right away.”

19.”Before I was admitted to the ICU for two weeks, I had muscle tetany (it felt like pins/needles) in my feet, arms, chest, and weirdly enough, what felt like my nose for weeks. I thought it was just poor circulation, but turns out I had undetectable potassium and phosphate levels, which did bad damage to my liver and kidneys. I went months without going to the ER because I thought I was being dramatic. Never write things off. It’s always better to look overly cautious than wind up dead.”
