Fulham’s Riverside Stand with a swimming pool: Club aiming for ‘best stand in the world’
Fulham’s Riverside Stand with a swimming pool: Club aiming for ‘best stand in the world’
The new Riverside Stand is accessed via Gate 51, and you come out directly onto a decking area which overlooks the river and has food kiosks and live music playing.
One fan said it is like walking into a “posh garden party” – this is a space open to fans with general admission tickets.
Another entrance awaits those with ‘extra’ hospitality tickets and features a golden, well-lit spiral staircase serving various lounges up from the basement to the fifth floor where the pool is.
Architect Johnson says there is very little mention of Fulham, no memorabilia, and just a few logos or discreet ****** and white colouring, with one floor having fabric upholstery more fitting of a Dubai skyscraper than a football setting.
There are also private rooms with private balconies overlooking the river, where you can receive Fulham shirts signed by the entire squad on arrival.
The stand overhangs the River Thames and this is where the pre-match hospitality takes place with champagne or mimosas served on arrival.
The opening of the stand was substantially delayed from its original target date of September 2021 because of many factors that arose during construction, including the Covid pandemic.
Johnson added: “It juxtaposes with the historic Johnny Haynes stand which was designed by a hero of the sports architectural industry, Archibald Leitch.”
A unique offering is a creche for parents with children too young to enjoy the match.
Private members pay between £750 and £1,250 a year, with the creche, a spa, hotel rooms and a pool available.
That fee doesn’t include access to matches and Fulham say currently only around 20%-30% of members are interested in matches alongside their packages.
Mark Wooding, who has been a fan since 1962, said: “It is expensive but a wonderful stand. We need some hospitality and although some fans pay £3,000, only a few hundred fans are paying that. We have to co-exist with hospitality and it happens at all clubs. We have a 28,000 capacity stadium only and are trying to compete with Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal.”
David Clarke, a Fulham fan since 1958, said: “I understand that we need to raise as much money as we can to compete at a high level and for the team to succeed. I am happy enough with what we have got but it is not cheap.
“The disappointment is that when you pay £1,200 or so for a season ticket, you feel like there are a lot of good places you can’t go to. We have good bars down here but it would be nice to be let into even the lower hospitality levels.
Darby Goede added: “I love the Riverside Stand. We try to get here at least an hour early to enjoy the £3 pints (available to non-hospitality fans until an hour before kick-off) and the river.”

The Steps You Need To Follow To Not Brick Your Tesla When Washing It
The Steps You Need To Follow To Not Brick Your Tesla When Washing It
Tesla has never exactly been the most reliable car brand. Parts fail, batteries go dead, and the touchscreen displays have a habit of blacking out. Small wonder then that values of used Tesla Cybertrucks are plummeting, although the behavior of Tesla CEO Elon Musk may have something to do with that as well. Worse, you may have heard a story or two about a Tesla getting fully bricked after undertaking a venture as daring, as dangerous, as extreme as … a car wash?
Fear not: For the most part, washing your Tesla should be fine, so long as you remember to activate Car Wash Mode from the touchscreen display. Simply go to the “Controls” tab, select “Service,” and then choose “Car Wash Mode.” Really, this mode just does a few basic things at once, such as roll up the windows, turn off the rain-sensing wipers, and deactivate the collision radars. The biggest safety feature is that the mode locks the charge port, so it doesn’t open when water and soap are spraying around.
You should also make sure to put the car into free roll (what an internal-combustion car would call “neutral,” though it’s a bit different on an EV) if you’re going through an automatic car wash. This will let the car be pulled through safely, without the rollers straining against the vehicle in park or drive modes. To do that, just step on the brakes and select “Enable Free Roll” or, alternatively, shift into Neutral.

How Teslas Handle Being Washed
A white Tesla soaped up for a wash – Arina P Habich/Shutterstock
For non-Cybertruck models, Teslas are basically washed like any other car. The thing you’ll most want to watch out for is the charging port, where you plug it in to fill up the battery. It’s obviously meant to conduct electricity, which isn’t great for water and soap. That said, Teslas (and all EVs) tightly weatherproof it, enough so that you can charge them safely even in heavy rain. So while it’s a good idea to lock the port when you’re washing, it probably isn’t the end of the world if you forget.
Cybertrucks, though, are a different (cyber)beast. The Cybertruck Owner’s Manual doesn’t recommend that you use an automatic car wash at all, even with Car Wash Mode enabled. While the Cybertruck may not get bricked, it’s vulnerable to corrosives (such as sap, dead insects, and road salt). Plus, since its stainless steel exterior is unpainted, normal car cleaners and shampoos may damage it. And this is bad news, because the warranty explicitly does not cover this, or any other damage caused by washing. So while you’re not very likely to brick your car, it’s definitely a smart idea to wash it carefully.

‘Everyone must believe’ – Arnold on Iraq World Cup bid
‘Everyone must believe’ – Arnold on Iraq World Cup bid
Ex-Socceroos boss Graham Arnold is confident he can help Iraq qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time in 40 years after he was appointed as the country’s national coach.
Asked whether Iraq can make the cut for the 2026 tournament which will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the U.S., the *********** told the federation’s website: “That’s my goal.
“That’s what I want to do. I haven’t come here to not be successful, and everyone in this room has to believe that. We can do it.”
Iraq’s only appearance at the tournament was in 1986, when they were eliminated after the group phase.
Arnold was appointed on Friday and replaces Spaniard Jesus Casas whose contract was terminated by the local soccer governing body in the wake of a 2-1 loss to Palestine in March.
That result left the Iraqis in third place in the standings in Group B, four points adrift of leaders South Korea and one behind Jordan with two games left.
The top two nations in each of Asia’s three qualifying groups advance automatically for the World Cup while the teams in third and fourth progress to another round of preliminaries.
“What is important is we all believe we can win the next two games, that is my first objective for Iraq,” he said.
Arnold’s first game in charge will be against South Korea in Basra on June 5. They then face Jordan in Amman five days later.

Rupee logs sharp weekly fall as India-Pakistan conflict intensifies
Rupee logs sharp weekly fall as India-Pakistan conflict intensifies
By Jaspreet Kalra
MUMBAI (Reuters) – The Indian rupee declined this week as the conflict between India and Pakistan intensified, hurting local equities and sovereign bonds, while likely intervention by the central bank on Friday helped shield the South Asian currency.
The rupee closed stronger on the day at 85.37 against the U.S. dollar. It had weakened to a near one-month low of 85.8425 in early trading before the Reserve Bank of India stepped in to support the rupee, per traders. The currency declined 0.9% on the week.
The conflict between India and Pakistan has widened, with both countries accusing each other of launching new military attacks on Friday, using drones and artillery for the third day in the worst fighting seen in nearly three decades.
“Our sense right now is that there is a fundamental incentive both on India and Pakistan to avoid substantial escalation over the medium-term,” Michael Wan, senior currency analyst at MUFG, said in a note dated May 9.
“With geopolitical conflicts, it is also important to be humble and say that there is much we do not know,” the note added.
The mood among Indian foreign exchange traders shifted from poise to frenzy over the last two sessions as the rupee confronted a sharp decline, with rising hedging costs and options metrics reflecting the market’s nervousness.
The 1-month dollar-rupee non-deliverable forwards climbed to their highest in a month on Friday, underscoring offshore market participants’ concerns about rupee weakness.
India’s benchmark equity index, the Nifty 50 fell over 1% on the day while government bonds were little changed after dipping in early trading. [.BO] [IN/]
“Heavy intervention” by the RBI helped the rupee avoid deeper losses, a trader at a large foreign bank said.
The absence of a central bank intervention could have spared a speculative build-up against the currency, the trader added.
Other Asian currencies were mostly weaker on the day while the dollar index slipped 0.2% to 100.3.

‘This is life or death for me’
‘This is life or death for me’
” ’Til death do us part” could be sooner than expected, she feared.
A *** teacher fears her honeymoon flight could be her last as an airline has allegedly vowed to continue serving nuts despite her deadly allergy.
“I thought Qatar Airways would be more understanding and accommodating of the allergy,” Bethany Roads, 27, told Kennedy News and Media. “This is life or death for me.”
The Kent native has suffered from a severe airborne nut allergy since she was 4, but didn’t think it would be a problem while planning her honeymoon this year.
“They know about the allergy, and they’re choosing to do it (serve nuts) anyway,” claimed Roads. Kennedy News and Media
Roads and her partner of nine years, Connor Burns, 29 — whom she’s slated to wed in August — had booked the trip of a lifetime to Tanzania and Zanzibar. The total cost for the trip was estimated at around $13,000.
“This is a dream destination for us,” she gushed. “It’s something we’ve both wanted to do for a long time.”
To ensure her “special” vacation went smoothly, Roads reached out to Qatar Airlines to alert them of her nut allergy, which can induce anaphylactic shock — a severe reaction that can stop the sufferer’s breathing or heartbeat.
She requested that the carrier make “an announcement,” she told Kennedy News, but claimed she was told they couldn’t “guarantee it’ll be 100% safe.”
“When I’ve been on flights in the past, they’ve always said any nut products won’t be sold and informed passengers, made announcements. I’ve never had a problem until now,” said Roads, pictured with her fiancé, Connor Burns, 29.
Despite the potential danger, the airline allegedly failed to heed her request.
“I said, ‘If you can’t make an announcement, can I make my own?’ and they told me on the phone if I do, that there would be a chance I could be kicked off the flight for going against their policies,” the “shocked” Brit claimed. “They said they would still serve them, knowing I could go into anaphylaxis. They said this would not be intentional around me.”
Roads said that Qatar Airways, in an exchange of messages shared with Kennedy Media, suggested that as a precaution for her own “safety,” the teacher should make sure to bring an EpiPen and use “hand sanitizer, face wipes and appropriate medications,” she said.
“Inform the co-passenger about the allergy, request for window or seats at the back, and avoid contact with the allergens,” Qatar reps added. “However, the requests are not guaranteed and would be subject to availability.”
Roads reveals a response from Qatar Airways. Kennedy News and Media
Roads believed their response would be wilfully putting her life “at risk.”
“They know about the allergy, and they’re choosing to do it anyway,” she said. “There’s a risk of me dying with anaphylaxis, even with two Epi-Pens with me.”
The distraught educator added, “One person ignoring an announcement and continuing to eat a bag of nuts is very different to them giving out nuts to 300 people on a plane.”
The traveler was particularly appalled because she said she’d been on flights in the past where understanding crew members announced that they wouldn’t hand out nuts on account of her condition.
Roads has even contemplated scrapping the honeymoon altogether, as it wasn’t worth the risk.
“Canceling the trip is definitely something we would have to consider,” the pedagogue said. “People don’t understand what an airborne allergy is.”
Roads declared that the carrier had a “legal requirement” to ensure she had a safe flight, saying: “Passenger safety is meant to be their utmost priority but what they’re saying to me is the opposite of that.”
A spokesperson for the carrier has since addressed the incident in a statement, in which they reiterated their company’s allergy policy.
“We do our best to accommodate passengers with allergy needs,” the representative told Kennedy News, quoting the guidelines. “But as our flights are open to the public, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.”
They added, “Qatar Airways’ allergy policy is available online, and we thank Ms Roads for notifying us of her circumstances. Our customer care team is in direct contact with her.”
The policy further stipulates that passengers “are responsible for carrying any necessary medication with them onboard” and that they “may be required to sign a waiver of liability.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Qatar Airways has been accused of failing to heed someone’s nut allergy disclaimer.
Nut allergy sufferer Amy Pearson thought she’d die after two airlines handed out peanuts on a 14-hour journey last year — despite her notifying them of her allergy in advance.

Ukraine and allies urge Putin to commit to a 30-day ceasefire or face new sanctions – National
Ukraine and allies urge Putin to commit to a 30-day ceasefire or face new sanctions – National
Leaders from four major European countries threatened to ratchet up pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin if he does not accept an unconditional 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine that they offered on Saturday in a strong show of unity with Kyiv.
The leaders of France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland said their proposal for a ceasefire to start on Monday was supported by U.S. President Donald Trump, whom they had briefed over the phone earlier in the day.

Biden accuses Trump of ‘modern day appeasement’ of Russia
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Saturday told CNN that Moscow will need to consider the proposal. Earlier that day, Peskov reiterated Russia’s claim that it was ready for peace talks with Ukraine “without preconditions”, and accused Kyiv of blocking those.

Russia’s own unilateral three-day ceasefire, declared for the 80th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany expires Saturday, and Ukraine says Russian forces have repeatedly violated it. In March, the United States proposed an immediate, limited 30-day truce, which Ukraine accepted, but the Kremlin has held out for terms more to its liking.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking to reporters alongside the European leaders in Kyiv, called their meeting “a very important signal.”
In a joint statement, as published on Zelenskyy’s official website, the five leaders called for a ceasefire “lasting at least 30 days” from Monday, to make room for a diplomatic push to end the war.
“An unconditional ceasefire by definition cannot be subject to any conditions. If Russia calls for such conditions, this can only be considered as an effort to prolong the war and undermine diplomacy,” the statement read.

Ukraine hopes for U.S. military support after agreeing to minerals deal

“This is Europe stepping up, showing our solidarity with Ukraine,” Starmer said.
Retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine, said Saturday that a “comprehensive” 30-day ceasefire, covering attacks from the air, land, sea and on infrastructure, “will start the process for ending the largest and longest war in Europe since World War II.”

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday held a series of bilateral talks with foreign officials who had attended Moscow’s own celebrations marking the defeat of Nazi Germany, in an apparent attempt to underscore the West’s failure to isolate it on the global stage. Putin’s interlocutors included To Lam, General Secretary of the ********** Party of Vietnam, and the leaders of Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso and the ************ Authority.
Europe threatens more sanctions if Russia ignores ceasefire offer
Progress on ending the three-year war has seemed elusive in the months since Trump returned to the White House, and his previous claims of imminent breakthroughs have failed to come to fruition. Trump has previously pushed Ukraine to cede territory to Russia to end the war, threatening to walk away if a deal becomes too difficult.
Since the start of U.S.-mediated talks, Russia has kept up attacks along the roughly 1,000-kilometer (600-mile) front line, including deadly strikes on residential areas with no obvious military targets.

Russia-Ukraine war: Wave of drone attacks slam Kharkiv, injuring at least 45, officials say
The ceasefire would include a halt to fighting on land, sea and in the air. The European leaders threatened to ratchet up sanctions, including on Russia’s energy and banking sectors, if Putin did not comply.
The priority was to make it too costly for Russia to keep fighting in Ukraine, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
When asked how the monitoring mechanism would work, Sybiha told The Associated Press the details were still being discussed.

Addressing skepticism over whether fresh sanctions against Moscow, which has so far managed to keep fighting in the war, Merz said “almost all member states of the European Union and a large coalition of the willing around the world are determined to enforce these sanctions even if our initiative of the weekend should fail.”
The leaders also discussed security guarantees for Ukraine.

Building up Kyiv’s military capabilities will be a key deterrent against Russia and require supplying Ukraine with robust quantities of arms to deter future attacks and investing in its defense sector. A force comprised of foreign troops could also be deployed as an added “reassurance” measure, Macron said.
He said details about potential European deployments to Ukraine were still being fine-tuned. No mention was made of NATO membership, still Kyiv’s top choice for a security guarantee.

Trump says Zelenskyy meeting ‘went well,’ disappointed by Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine
Earlier on Saturday, the European leaders joined a ceremony at Kyiv’s Independence Square marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. They lit candles alongside Zelenskyy at a makeshift flag memorial for fallen Ukrainian soldiers and civilians slain since Russia’s invasion.
Russian attacks continue
Russian shelling in Ukraine’s northern Sumy region over the past day killed three residents and wounded four more, local officials said. Another civilian died Saturday as a Russian drone struck the southern city of Kherson, according to regional Gov. Oleksandr Prokudin.

The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv on Friday warned of a “potentially significant” Russian air attack in the coming days, without giving details.
Russia in November gave the U.S. brief advance warning before striking Ukraine for the first time with its Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile, an experimental hypersonic weapon that Putin claimed could travel at 10 times the speed of sound.

Russian strikes kill at least 8 as Kyiv, other regions in Ukraine face ‘mass attack’
Ukrainian Telegram channels linked the embassy’s warning to reports of an imminent flight ban by Moscow over the Kapustin Yar military training and rocket launch complex. A similar flight ban preceded November’s strike. There was no immediate comment from Russian officials.
Trump said last week that he doubts Putin wants to end his war in Ukraine, expressing new skepticism that a peace deal can be reached soon, and hinted at further sanctions against Russia.

Ukraine’s European allies view its fate as fundamental to the continent’s security, and pressure is now mounting to find ways to support Kyiv militarily, regardless of whether Trump pulls out.

More Than 70 People Infected with Parasite and 16 Hospitalized After Visiting Animal Farm
More Than 70 People Infected with Parasite and 16 Hospitalized After Visiting Animal Farm
More than 70 people have been infected with cryptosporidium, a microscopic parasite that causes diarrhea, according to Public Health Wales
Those who have been infected visited an animal farm in Cowbridge
The farm has “ceased all public animal feeding activities” as health officials investigate the outbreak
More than 70 people who visited a farm in Wales have been infected by a parasite.
Public Health Wales announced that it has confirmed that 74 people have been infected with cryptosporidium — which is a microscopic parasite that causes diarrhea, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — after visiting a Cowbridge farm.
According to the CDC, the parasite can “live in water, food, soil, or on surfaces that have been contaminated with infected poop.” Public Health Wales said that cryptosporidium is “often associated with contact with animals, especially young farm animals such as calves and lambs.”
Public Health Wales also noted that 16 people have been hospitalized as a result of contracting the parasite.
Following the outbreak, the Cowbridge farm has “voluntarily ceased all public animal feeding activities,” according to Public Health Wales. The agency said it is continuing an investigation into the outbreak and Cowbridge farm is “cooperating with the investigation.”
The Cowbridge farm announced in a post on Facebook that it had closed down its animal feeding experiences “due to unforeseen circumstances,” according to the BBC. The farm also issued an apology to people who had booked an appointment and said they could obtain a full refund.

Mother Vic Dobbinson told BBC that her 8-year-old daughter, Alba, was one of the people who had been infected with the parasite. She said Alba experienced vomiting and diarrhea after feeding the lambs over the Easter holiday.

“I appreciate that [visiting a farm] comes with risks, but if we had been told there were cases potentially linked to this farm then we would’ve decided not to go,” she told the outlet.
Su Mably, a Public Health Wales consultant in health protection, said in a statement: “We are continuing to work with our partners to investigate this outbreak. Although cryptosporidium infection is usually mild and clears up on its own, it can cause more serious illness in young children and people with weakened immune systems.”
“It is possible for this infection to be passed on from one person to another, for example if someone is caring for a family member who is unwell,” Mably added.
Maby noted that it’s important for people to take precautions including washing their hands well “particularly before preparing food,” and said that people who visited the farm should contact their local doctor if they are feeling unwell.
Public health officials began investigating the cryptosporidium outbreak around April 30, according to the BBC. Initially, only 27 cases were reported, but the figure grew to 47 later that week.
Public Health Wales said infections are spiking due to cryptosporidium’s incubation *******. People who are infected with the parasite can present with symptoms “two to 10 days after contact with the parasite,” and this can “last for up to two weeks.”

DOGE Is Bringing Back a Deadly Disease
DOGE Is Bringing Back a Deadly Disease
A person who has severe silicosis has to fight for every breath. A short walk that should take just 20 minutes can take an hour. Climbing stairs, carrying groceries, and normal recreational activities are distant memories.
Silicosis is typically caused by years of breathing in silica dust at work, and can worsen even after work exposures stop. In recent years, after decades of inaction, the federal government finally took several important steps to reduce the incidence of this ancient and debilitating disease. Under the Trump administration, all that progress is going away, in but one example of the widespread destruction now taking place across the federal government.
Silicosis first caught the attention of the federal government in the early 1930s, when hundreds of workers hired by the chemical company Union Carbide and its subsidiary to drill a tunnel through a mountain of almost pure silica died of silicosis. Most of the workers were ******, and many were buried in unmarked graves. President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s secretary of labor, Frances Perkins, issued a report on the widespread problem across factories and mines, informing businesses that control measures, “if conscientiously adopted and applied,” could prevent silicosis.
[Read: The actual math behind DOGE’s cuts]
Perkins’s report went mostly unheeded. For all of the 20th century and the early part of the 21st century, the government’s silica-control standards failed to adequately protect workers and prevent workplace disease. Hundreds of workers employed in mines, foundries, and at construction sites developed silicosis, and some died from it. Many others died from lung *******, also caused by silica exposure.
The 1970 law that established the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) also launched a scientific-research agency, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), whose job included providing OSHA with recommendations for health standards. In 1974, NIOSH provided OSHA with strong evidence that its silica-exposure standard needed to be more stringent—that too many workers were being exposed to too much silica, and suffering greatly as a result. (One of us, David, ran OSHA for more than seven years during the Obama administration. The other, Gregory, led the NIOSH Division of Respiratory Disease Studies for 15 years and served as deputy assistant secretary of labor in the Mine Safety and Health Administration [MSHA] for three years.)
OSHA’s process for setting this sort of health standard is not known for its speed. OSHA started working on a strengthened silica standard in 1997 and finally issued new rules for general industry and construction 19 years later (while David was running the agency)—but, significantly, the agency didn’t include mines and quarries, which are under the authority of MSHA, in the Department of Labor. Ever since, when workers face high levels of airborne silica, employers have been required to use engineering controls to reduce exposure; if airborne silica levels are still too high, employers must also provide workers with NIOSH-certified facemasks such as N95s (the N stands for “NIOSH”).
For many years, lung-disease experts employed in the congressionally mandated NIOSH Coal Workers Health Surveillance Program (CWHSP) provided medical testing and counseling to miners in an effort to identify workers who were showing early signs of lung disease, including silicosis. Under the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act, miners with a dust disease such as silicosis have the legal right to transfer to jobs with less dust exposure, and to have their exposure going forward monitored frequently. The chest X-ray readings of NIOSH’s trained and certified experts help sick miners move to safer work areas, which may improve their prognosis.
Despite OSHA’s new silica standard, MSHA’s standard remained outdated, and more miners were getting sick, particularly younger miners. Risk has been driven up by changes in mining practices, such as longer hours, the mining of seams that have less coal and more silica, and the use of new mining equipment that generates more dust. MSHA started working on a new silica standard during the Obama administration, but that work was halted when the first Trump administration came into power in 2017. The agency restarted work when Joe Biden took office and last year finally issued a strengthened silica standard.
In the few months since the second Trump administration began, the federal government’s efforts to control silicosis have been destroyed. Elon Musk’s DOGE fired the entire CWHSP team and most of the NIOSH engineers, staff, and other scientists who are doing research to make mining less dangerous. The White House made clear that virtually all of NIOSH’s functions are being permanently scrapped.
Additionally, in early April, the president signed four executive orders to promote the mining and use of coal. Then, days before MSHA’s rule could go into effect, the new leadership at the Department of Labor “paused” enforcement, claiming that employers would have difficulty complying because NIOSH no longer has staff to certify the respirators and measurement devices necessary for implementing the policy.
[Read: The missing part of Trump’s mineral math]
Although the Trump administration has not announced major personnel cuts to OSHA yet, the agency’s ability to prevent silicosis is under threat as well. DOGE has announced that 11 OSHA offices, along with 34 MSHA offices, will be closed, which will lead to fewer inspections, undoubtedly followed by more injuries and illnesses.
Even without these cuts, silicosis was already making a comeback, this time in a different industry: the fabrication and installation of artificial-stone kitchen countertops. In the Los Angeles area, more than 200 workers, almost all Latino immigrants, have developed silicosis; several have needed lung transplants. There are likely to be thousands more affected workers throughout the country, but the true number is unknown. Most of the workers in this industry are employed in small fabrication shops, and OSHA is so under-resourced and underpowered that it has had difficulty merely finding the shops where the work is being done.
Preventing silicosis is exactly the sort of essential public-health work that government employees perform with little or no recognition. When these policies work, lives are saved—invisibly, as no one can ever know who didn’t get silicosis because of good regulation and enforcement. But soon enough, if the Trump administration’s devastation of NIOSH, MSHA, and OSHA goes uncorrected, workers will certainly be getting silicosis because of inadequate public-health protections—and those losses will be quite visible, if not to the Trump administration then certainly to the people unfortunate enough to get sick.

No song, Ange aims to give what Spurs fans really want
No song, Ange aims to give what Spurs fans really want
Ange Postecoglou has played down the prospect of his Tottenham squad recording a cup final song before their Europa League showdown with Manchester United.
The record ‘Ossie’s Dream’ by Chas and Dave – in reference to former midfielder Ossie Ardiles – is synonymous with Spurs’ history after being recorded with the squad to commemorate reaching the 1981 FA Cup final.
However, Postecoglou insisted no repeat would occur with the class of 25, who secured a place in Bilbao with a 5-1 aggregate victory over *****/Glimt.
“Na, na, na,” Postecoglou laughed.
“If you walk in our dressing room, there is too many extremes in the playlist to get some consensus from the South Americans, to I don’t know what Biss (Yves Bissouma) and the others are listening to and then you have got some of the other lads.
“Anyway, none of that would be on my playlist, so I definitely wouldn’t contribute.”
Yves Bissouma revealed after Thursday’s 2-0 win in Norway that even chairman Daniel Levy would be encouraged to sing on the plane home.
But Postecoglou revealed: “There is no belting of tunes. It’s fair to say me and the chairman probably have different playlists mate, so don’t see him ******** away to AC/DC.”
Tottenham have two Premier League fixtures before the trip to Bilbao and host another club with a final on the horizon on Sunday in Crystal Palace.
Even though Postecoglou will heavily rotate his squad after a big physical excursion in the Arctic Circle, the 59-year-old is determined to build more positivity after he paid tribute to the fanbase for their efforts in Europe.
“We only had sort of 400 to 500 the other night and the rest are all here and they’ll be euphoric and this will be their first chance to maybe share with the people they go to games regularly – that experience of the other night – at the game on Sunday,” Postecoglou added.
“We want to make sure we continue giving them that positivity, so it’s important we go out there and put in a performance.
“I’ve certainly felt and I think the supporters have played a huge role in our European run. The AZ game at home, then Frankfurt home and away and then ***** home and away – they’ve been brilliant.
“I’m sure, come the final, they will have an important part to play there as well.”
Spurs’ cup exploits have kept alive their campaign after a winter injury crisis saw them drop into the bottom half of the Premier League in December.
Postecoglou admitted: “There is no doubt that if we weren’t in Europe, if we got knocked out pre-January and we didn’t have the Carabao Cup (semi-final) run we did, even with our injuries, it’s fair to say our league position would be better than what it is today.
“I’m not saying we would be in the top four, but we would certainly be in a better position.
“The tough stuff we’ve had to go through in the league and the scrutiny and the criticism the guys have received has brought them really close together and they have said ‘we’re not going to let this beat us. We have an opportunity to do something special’.
“They have used that as motivation to stay strong through the Carabao Cup and now in Europe to try and achieve something.”

Tesla Bull Gary ****** Reaffirms Elon Musk’s Company ‘Best Positioned To Capitalize’ On EVs And Autonomous Driving, But There’s A Catch
Tesla Bull Gary ****** Reaffirms Elon Musk’s Company ‘Best Positioned To Capitalize’ On EVs And Autonomous Driving, But There’s A Catch
Gary ****** says Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) will capitalize on the growing EV adoption among drivers, as well as increasing demand for self-driving vehicles.
What Happened: Quoting a post on social media platform X, which asked ******’s views on Elon Musk’s EV giant’s current trajectory, he shared his thoughts on Thursday.
“TSLA’s more affordable car strategy seems deja vu 2023-2024 – price cuts funded by cost cuts with no volume growth,” he said as Tesla is offering cheaper variants of its models in the U.S. He added that the Austin robotaxi launch in June held an “asymmetrical risk/return.”
Don’t Miss:
However, the investor also shared that he was optimistic about the company’s future. “Long term we like the $TSLA story.” He said before adding, “As EV adoption and demand for autonomy increases, $TSLA remains the best positioned to capitalize on these two megatrends,”
Why It Matters: Tesla has been teasing the arrival of its Robotaxi in June, with CEO Musk confirming that there would at least be 10-20 Model Y robotaxis in Austin on launch day.
Tesla has also rolled out its robotaxi in limited runs restricted to employees in cities like Austin and San Francisco, where it has clocked more than 15,000 miles and 1,500 trips.
Elsewhere, the company has touted its self-driving capabilities with Musk expressing optimism in the brand’s FSD (Full Self-Driving) tech and went as far as to say that manually driven cars will become obsolete in the future.
However, Musk’s robotaxi ambitions are grappling with hurdles as the USPTO or U.S. Patent and Trademark Office refused to grant the company trademarks for the terms “Robotaxi” as well as “Cybercab.”

Screen Queen: The Four Seasons, Duster, The Secret Lives Of ******* Wives, Murderbot
The Four SeasonsStreaming now on Netflix
When I was a teenager in the 1990s I remember going to a friend’s house and watching The Big Chill. I think someone’s sister’s friend’s friend had recommended it as the cool “adult” film to watch, and we’d rented it from Video Ezy with the promise of a titillating watch.
Reader, it was not. I remember being bored stiff watching the exploits of a bunch of people who looked and acted like my parents.
But oh, how times have changed!
I now find myself inhaling episodes of Tina Fey’s new series The Four Seasons, which, honestly, is The Big Chill: 2.0, but with fewer fluffy perms.
Most horrifying of all: I am now relating to what I’m seeing unfold.
For those who’ve not yet caught this fabulous comedy, don’t get the wrong idea: this is not a reboot of the seminal 80s flick, though it is a modern reimagining of another film from 1981 written, directed by and starring the delightful Alan Alda.
It centres around a group of old friends (sound familiar?), who gather for catch-ups through different seasons of the year. Each time we reconnect with them, there’s been a shift in the dynamics, not just within the group, but also within the three couples themselves — it’s cringingly great to watch what unfolds.
The best part about this comedy, for my part, is the fact that while it has a lot of the hallmarks of a Tina Fey-produced piece of work — on-point writing, a cast made up of many of Fey’s friends and long-time collaborators — it feels a lot more real than many of her more slapstick comedies (though there is a scene involving a red stiletto in the last episode which is very much of-her-oeuvre).
For people of a certain age (me) it will feel disturbingly familiar and it’s a fabulous binge-watch. Teen kids: proceed with caution.
DusterFriday, streaming on MaxCamera IconDavid, that you? Duster is streaming on Max. Credit: Supplied
This new series from J.J. Abrams is all about a 70s getaway driver called Jim who drives a bright orange Plymouth Duster. He’s played by Josh Holloway, who fans might remember as the dastardly and delicious Sawyer from Lost.
Everything about this sounds vaguely ******, but in the best possible way.
Real talk: I’ve been waiting an eternity for Holloway to pop up on TV again, and I’m thrilled he’s front and centre in this crime thriller, alongside Rachel Hilson as the FBI agent on his case.
Also, can we talk about the fact Holloway looks disturbingly like Perth Survivor star David Genat?

The Secret Lives Of ******* Wives S2Thursday, streaming on Disney PlusCamera IconSeason two of The Secret Lives Of ******* Wives is hitting screens this week on Disney Plus. Credit: Supplied
Haven’t heard of MomTok and the ******* wife-swapping controversy that sprang out of this series? Jog on. Everyone else: series two is here, and tea WILL be spilt, so strap in.
EurovisionFrom Wednesday, 3am, SBS Camera IconMarty Zambotto, aka Go-Jo, will represent Australia at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland in May, 2025. Credit: Supplied/TheWest
To make 10 years of Australia’s participation in Eurovision, we’re sending in the big guns — WA’s Go-Jo! He’s bringing his (song) Milkshake to the yard, and the SBS live stream, from the wee hours on Friday. There will also be prime-time coverage at 7.30pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
MurderbotFriday, streaming on Apple TV PlusCamera IconOur favourite Skarsgard! Murderbot is streaming on Apple TV Plus. Credit: Supplied
I can’t go past a Skarsgard and this series, about a newly sentient robot, has my favourite one — Alexander! He stars as the aforementioned and though a cyborg, he’s still entirely delightful to watch.
