2. Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun: a second texture error has been located in Oblivion Remastered's whizzbang skins, rendering the game unplayable and life unlivable. Right after players noticed that the new texture on the door to Cheydinhal's Dark Brotherhood sanctuary recklessly bungles a bit of the sect's background lore, someone else has noticed a gag on one of the game's shop signs hasn't survived the transition to 4K... 5. Weekly quests are generally some of the trickiest but most rewarding tasks you can tackle in Fortnite. One of the many tasks you'll come across asks you to sprint distance while under the effects of Slap. Like most weekly quests, this one asks you to interact with a gamepal feature you may not be super familiar with. The Slap effect is a subtle one, so there have likely been many times you've activated it without even realizing it. Here's how to sprint distance while under the effects of Slap in Fortnite. Table of contentsSprint distance while under the effects of Slap in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic BattleWhat is the Slap effect in Fortnite? How to get the Slap effect in FortniteAll Slap effect items in FortniteSprint distance while under the effects of Slap in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle Screenshot by Destructoid To complete the sprint distance while under the effects of Slap quest, you need to travel a total of 100 distance while the Slap effect is active in Fortnite. Depending on how long it takes you to travel around this much, you may need to consume multiple items to get it done. The first step you need to take for this quest is to find an item you can use to acquire the Slap effect. The Slap items present in this season can appear anywhere on the map as a random loot item, so check the ground and all chests you come across to search for them. Once you have a Slap item, consume it and get ready to start running. Travel around as quickly as you can and try to cover lots of distance to cover all the ground you need for this quest. Once you've traveled 100 meters, the quest will be complete. What is the Slap effect in Fortnite? The Slap effect is a unique gameplay mechanic that grants you unlimited Stamina for a ******* of time. The amount of time it's active for varies depending on the item you use to activate it. Many Slap items also have some bonus effects like restoring health or shields. How to get the Slap effect in Fortnite There are various ways you can acquire the Slap effect in each season, but for Star Wars Galactic Battle, the only available one is to drink certain consumable items. The Slap effect is temporary, so you only have it for a limited amount of time whenever you manage to acquire it. Screenshot by Destructoid All Slap effect items in Fortnite The loot pool of weapons and items Star Wars Galactic Battle is fairly limited, so there are only two items you can find and use to obtain the Slap effect. The Slap items featured in this season are: Slap Splash - restores 15 health or shields and grants the Slap effect for 30 seconds.Slap Juice - restores 15 health and grants the Slap effect for 50 seconds. There are no other items that grant the Slap effect present in this season, including environmental ones. You may be tempted to go searching for Slap Barrels, but the only barrels you can find this season are Slurp Barrels. These ones don't grant the effect you need for this quest, so stick to looting chests for the best shot of finding what you're after. If you're looking for more XP, there are plenty of other quests you can work on around the island. Next, you might try using a telephone booth to don a disguise, completing Leia Organa’s story quests, and bringing a Jedi Padawan lightsaber to General Grievous. With the focus on having more frequent Chronicled Banners, it's become clear that Genshin Impact will feature popular characters on the Event Banner almost exclusively going forward. While this may end up being a profitable decision in the long term, some Genshin Impact players have been overwhelmed by its recent gauntlet of Event Banners. View the full article

 11. Recently, Soulsborne fans throughout the world were surprised to learn that FromSoftware’s next big project, The Duskbloods – an online multiplayer game with a quasi-Victorian aesthetic that might be the closest we ever get to Bloodborne 2 – will be locked behind the Nintendo Switch 2’s $449.99 price tag. While the disappointment experienced by undead, hunters, and tarnished alike is understandable, they need not fall prey to the abyss. Ever since the original Dark Souls put FromSoftware on the map in 2011, developers of all shapes and sizes have tried their hand at either replicating or reinventing the company’s compelling, elusive formula. And while many have failed, more than a couple succeeded. Chances are you’re already familiar with a few of the big ones, like Nioh, Lies of P, and ****** Myth: Wukong. But some of the most effective and inventive soulslike games have been made by small indie teams who don’t have the money or manpower to rival their AAA competitors in scale or scope. Instead, they had to get creative, and it’s through this creativity that they manage to scratch the same itch Hidetaka Miyazaki’s team has been scrubbing for the better part of its existence. And that brings us to this list. In no specific order, here are the ten best indie soulslikes you can play today, no Switch 2 required. Eldest Souls Developer: Fallen Flag Studio | Publisher: United Label, CI Games | Release date: July 29, 2021 | Review: Read IGN's Eldest Souls review There are many components to the Soulsborne formula, including – but by no means limited to – exploration, skill-based combat, cryptic lore, environmental storytelling, and big, bombastic boss battles. Being a boss-rush gauntlet, Eldest Souls specializes in the latter. Putting players in the shoes of a lone warrior making their way through a sprawling, Bloodborne-esque citadel while battling the creatively-designed monsters lurking within, Eldest Souls delivers on something few 2D games have: a dynamic combat system where fights don’t feel like you’re just pressing the right button at the right time, even if – at the end of the day – that is mostly what you’re doing. Blasphemous Developer: The Game Kitchen | Publisher: Team17 | Release date: September 10, 2019 | Review: Read IGN's Blasphemous review Speaking of Bloodborne-esque citadels, those of us who felt right at home wandering around the winding spires and sprawling apses of Yharnam’s Healing Church are bound to fall in love with the world of Blasphemous, a 2D metroidvania in which a masked crusader uncovers the eldritch horrors hiding behind his own, Roman Catholicism-inspired order. While the Healing Church takes inspiration from the late-medieval Gothic churches of Northern Europe, Blasphemous – set in the land of Cvstodia – evokes the religious art and culture of Renaissance Italy and Inquisition-era Spain. Its mesmerizing character and boss designs, which carried over into 2023’s Blasphemous 2 and its Mea Culpa DLC, are second only to FromSoftware in their ability to capture the disturbing qualities of centuries-old Christian iconography. Tunic Developer: Tunic Team | Publisher: Finji | Release date: March 16, 2022 | Review: Read IGN's Tunic review One of the surest ways to create an effective soulslike is to take inspiration not from FromSoftware, but FromSoftware’s own inspirations. Like Miyazaki himself, the creators of Tunic – a 3D isometric action-adventure game – are big fans of the original Zelda games, specifically the way those games evoke feelings of curiosity and wonder. Don’t let the game’s protagonist – a cartoonishly cute, anthropomorphic fox with a straight sword – fool you: Tunic closely resembles FromSoftware’s output in terms of its interconnected, deliberately obtuse level design. There are no objective markers to point the way forward, and all in-game dialogue is delivered in indecipherable script. As with the Dark Souls trilogy and Elden Ring, it’s clear that something bad happened to the world of Tunic. But what? Tails of Iron Developer: Odd Bug Studio | Publisher: United Label | Release date: September 17, 2021 To describe Tails of Iron and its sequel, Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter, as “cutesy” would be only partly true. Sure, both action RPGs have a charming picture book aesthetic and feature tiny mouse knights that speak in high-pitched gibberish, but they are also filled with blood, gore, and stories of death and betrayal ripped straight out of Game of Thrones or The Witcher. (Coincidentally, they’re narrated by none other than Geralt of Rivia voice actor Doug Cockle). While both games definitely have more in common with George RR Martin’s flavor of fantasy than FromSoftware’s – what with their explicit storytelling and densely-populated worlds – they still resemble the likes of Dark Souls and Elden Ring insofar as their carefully crafted environments, which ooze character and atmosphere. Mortal Shell Developer: Cold Symmetry | Publisher: Playstack | Release date: August 18, 2021 | Review: Read IGN's Mortal Shell review One of the better known and most visually arresting soulslikes to have emerged in recent years, Mortal Shell ditches FromSoftware’s near infinite customization and leveling options in favor of a mechanic which lets you take over the bodies (shells) of characters with preset builds, allowing you to approach bosses using a variety of playstyles. Aside from its stellar enemy design (the final boss in particular gives Bloodborne’s Lovecraftian Great Ones a run for their money), Mortal Shell delivers combat that’s both challenging and epic – a delicate balance which FromSoftware itself arguably didn’t achieve until Bloodborne’s fast-paced combat carried over into Dark Souls 3 and subsequent titles. Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption Developer: Dark Star | Publisher: Neon Doctrine | Release date: October 23, 2018 | Review: Read IGN's Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption review Another surefire way to create a compelling soulslike is to introduce an interesting gameplay gimmick that turns FromSoftware’s progression curve onto its head. Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption does just that by forcing the player to level down instead of up, making each fight more difficult than the last. This mechanic works wonders for replayability. Instead of adding a perk to their arsenal, players have to decide which ability they can live without before heading into the next boss battle. Because you can pick the order in which you fight the bosses – each modeled after one of the Seven Deadly Sins – you have to familiarize yourself with their strengths and weaknesses to coordinate a successful run. Nine Sols Developer: RedCandleGames | Publisher: RedCandleGames | Release date: May 29, 2024 Where other games on this list take inspiration from the complete FromSoftware catalogue, Nine Sols – a 2D action platformer that elegantly blends elements of cyberpunk with East Asian mythology and spirituality – takes after one game in particular: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. As with Sekiro, combat in Nine Sols is more defensive than offensive, emphasizing dodging, blocking, and parrying. As a result, combat encounters don’t boil down to brute force or clever positioning. Instead, you have to carefully watch each enemy’s movements, tapping into a satisfying rhythm of action and reaction. Unsighted Developer: Studio Pixel Punk | Publisher: Humble Games | Release date: September 30, 2021 An undervalued aspect of the Soulsborne formula is the relationship that you develop with the world’s characters. Much like The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, where NPCs anticipate the moment the evil moon destroys everything they’ve ever known, characters in FromSoftware’s games are victims of a terrible fate, be it Hollowing, the Beast Scourge, Dragonrot, or Scarlet Rot. Unsighted, a metroidvania set in a world populated by automatons, turns this concept into both a narrative and gameplay mechanic. Every NPC, including merchants, has a limited power supply and is removed from the game when this supply runs out. As a result, you’re not only encouraged to play as quickly as possible – adding a welcome sense of urgency to the experience – but also plan out the order in which you progress. Another Crab’s Treasure Developer: Aggro Crab | Publisher: Aggro Crab | Release date: April 25, 2024 | Review: Read IGN's Another Crab’s Treasure review One of the latest unlikely soulslikes to create a splash, Another Crab’s Treasure – a 3D action-adventure platformer where you play a SpongeBob-esque crustacean whose search for their disposed home (shell) morphs into a surprisingly morose quest to control the fate of the ocean itself – rests on yet another creative gameplay mechanic. Unlike most games in the genre, you have only one primary weapon. Instead, it’s your defensive shell you’ll have to customize. Courtesy of environmental pollution, the ocean floor is littered with wearable human garbage – from bottle caps to shot glasses. Each shell has a unique attack and limited durability, forcing you to adopt different playstyles as you scurry along your underwater journey. Exanima Developer: Bare Mettle Entertainment | Publisher: Bare Mettle Entertainment | Release date: April 29, 2015 Occasionally described as the love child of Dark Souls and Getting Over It, Exanima is a physics-based survival game in which – you guessed it – the player explores dark, ******-infested dungeons. Although it’s still in development (and has been for over a decade, with very long stretches between updates), the early access version has as much entertainment value as a fully-finished game. There are people who have been enthusiastically playing it for years. Exanima channels FromSoftware’s work insofar as its intentionally finnicky, extremely sensitive controls turn every enemy encounter into a suspenseful – and therefore riveting – ordeal. Swaying your weapons with the same degree of incoordination as the Getting Over It guy’s shovel, part of you can’t help but be reminded of your first outings in Lordran or Drangleic, feeling comically unequipped to deal with the challenges at hand. Those are our 10 picks for the best indie soulslikes. But there are many more out there worth your time, including Death's Door, Loot River, Featherfall, and Dark Devotion. 12. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is packed with spooky stuff — skeletons, spirits, and even zombies — but no-one can remember seeing this 'ghost horse' in either the original 2006 game or this 2025 remaster. Our story begins with a reddit post by TaricIsNotASupport, who flagged what looks like a spectral horse just... waiting to be found. Uhhhh, guys, is this new? byu/TaricIsNotASupport inoblivion .reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; } “So I was crafting stupid spells in Frostcrag Spire, as it’s possibly my favourite way to have fun in this game, however this time when I left the Cosy Chaos Spire that has divided this community so very much I noticed something suuuuuuper strange in the distance,” TaricIsNotASupport began. “I did as any of us of the right mind would do and B-lined it over there like a maniac. To my amazement was this spectral horse with no name. “I have played thousands of hours of the original Oblivion — and have already sunken over a hundred hours into the Remaster — yet this is the first I have ever seen this horse. “I don’t know if it’s something new that’s been added, or if I’ve just missed out on it before and never knew.” TaricIsNotASupport then called on the community to help them work out what had happened here, which sparked something of a ghost hunt online, with players searching through the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages website for any word of a spectral mount in the original Oblivion. So far, nothing. To the people asking if I can ride or interact with the spooky horse, yes! 1/2 byu/TaricIsNotASupport inoblivion .reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; } Could it be a mod? TaricIsNotASupport followed up their post to say they are playing on PlayStation 5, where mods are unavailable. TaricIsNotASupport also posted a clip of their character riding the horse. Despite its non-corporeal form, it appears this horse is very much present and correct, and works how any other horse would in Oblivion. “He fast travels and even gets stabled!” TaricIsNotASupport said. “By all accounts it’s now my steed!” Some are suggesting this ghost horse is the result of a glitch, perhaps caused by a spell gone horribly wrong. Bethesda games are known for their bugs (in fact one is making the camera break the longer you play the game), and maybe this ghost horse is another to add to the list. “Very weird, the wiki says there's only 2 unique horses, Shadowmere and unicorns,” ClaymoreBeatz commented. “And there's no horse mods that I can see that do this so I highly doubt your [sic] lying about not being on PC, this is probably some sort of glitch that the new Remastered has or glitched magical effect. Armored horses names change to Armored horse I think so maybe it's an Armored horse that got hit by a spell and now its name and spell effect is glitched.” I was asked if Spookmane* can be buffed and if it stays spectral; the answer is yes! byu/TaricIsNotASupport inoblivion .reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; } Others are wondering whether the developers at Bethesda and Virtuos might have added this ghost horse to the game as a spooky secret for players to discover in Oblivion Remastered. This seems less likely, although it is a fun thought because if it's true, then what other secrets might be hidden within the ramaster? There are plenty of players who want to work out how to replicate the steed so they can have a ghost horse for themselves. Again, there doesn’t appear to be any particular process TaricIsNotASupport used to spawn it, at least none so far discovered. In lieu of an in-game name, TaricIsNotASupport has called their Oblivion ghost horse ‘Spookmane,’ which I think is a wonderful effort. TaricIsNotASupport has pledged to continue their adventure with Spookmane by their side. Perhaps this is a one-off, perhaps it’s a secret, perhaps it’s a bug. Either way, Spookmane has captured the attention — and maybe even a few hearts — of the Oblivion community and its fans. “This creature might be my favourite new friend I’ve made,” TaricIsNotASupport said. “Spookmane, you’re glorious and I love you.” Oblivion Remastered, developed by remake specialist Virtuos using Unreal Engine 5, has a long list of visual and feature improvements. It runs at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, as you'd expect, but other changes are more meaningful. Everything from the leveling systems to character creation, and combat animations to in-game menus have been improved. Meanwhile, there's lots of new dialogue, a proper third-person view, and new lip sync technology. The changes are going down well with fans, some of whom believe Oblivion Remastered would be more accurately described as a remake. Bethesda, however, has explained why it went down the remaster route. Now the game is out in the wild, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered players are warning newcomers to do Kvatch before the level scaling makes it an absolute nightmare. We’ve also got a report on a player who managed to escape the confines of Cyrodiil to explore Valenwood, Skyrim, and even Hammerfell, the rumored setting of The Elder Scrolls VI. And be sure to check out our comprehensive guide to everything you'll find in Oblivion Remastered, including an expansive Interactive Map, complete Walkthroughs for the Main Questline and every Guild Quest, How to Build the Perfect Character, Things to Do First, every PC Cheat Code, and much more. Grow a Garden is a new Roblox experience that's becoming incredibly popular since it launched. The gardening simulator allows players to show off their green fingers, as you buy seeds and plant a variety of crops from basic carrots to exotic dragon fruit trees. As fruit and vegetables finally sprout, you'll be able to harvest them to sell for Sheckles. To go from a beginner gardener to a pro worthy of awards, you'll want your crops to experience mutations that increase their value. This can happen randomly, with Gold and Big mutations being down to chance, while weather events like snow can increase your luck of a Frozen mutation. There's also gear, and even pets now, that can affect how fast your crops grow, their value, and more. We've been covering Grow a Garden and creating guides to explain features such as how gear works, a weather and mutation guide, and the different seeds that are available to purchase. You'll also find information on updates such as the recent **** Egg update that took place this month, and more over in our Grow a Garden guide. Lauren Harper is an Associate Guides Editor. 18. I want Grand Theft Auto 6 to be good, and if I had to bet money on it, I'd guess it likely will be. The world is weird right now, and I want both you and me to enjoy driving a car into a man. It very much sounds like it's got Stephen Root from Barry in it! I love Stephen Root from Barry! But, god, am I feeling some kind of way about it constantly sucking all the air out of the room. It feels less like we're looking forward to a game, more that we're in thrall to a captor that knows it can command attention whether it earns it or not. ( I do not believe Red Dead Redemption 2's excellence earns uncritical hype for all future projects, lest we forget Cyberpunk). There's plenty that can be said about the recent trailer, but if I had to sum up my own misgivings with it, it's that it has an air less of "look at this cool thing we made, we can't wait to share it with you", more *****-swinging swagger, a cocksure sense of, well, you're going to buy this anyway, here's some absurdly good-looking beer to tide you piggies over.
