Wondering about the best sword or race in Rogue Piece? There are a bunch of customization options to consider when making a build. I'm here to rank them all so you'll be able to read about the best races, swords, specs, fruits, powers, traits and equipment. Here's my ultimate early-mid-late and PVP/PVE Rogue Piece tier list for everything in the game. Table of contentsRogue Piece Sword, Spec and Fruit Tier ListSSS-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsS-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsA-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsB-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsC-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsD-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsRogue Piece Race Tier ListS-Tier RacesA-Tier RacesB-Tier RacesC-Tier RacesD-Tier RacesRogue Piece Trait Tier ListRogue Piece Sword, Spec and Fruit Tier List Image by Destructoid This Rogue Piece tier list will dive into the three main build options which are Combat Specs, Fruits and Swords. I'll also give you the locations of all of these and the best equipment and race to use (there's also a race tier list below). I ranked them for PVP and PVE while keeping how good they are early-mid-late game. SSS is the overall meta with the highest DPS with S being a close second. A-Tiers are great alternatives while B-Tiers are good for PVE farming. Lastly, C are early game options and D-Tier are unusable. Note: This tier list is up-to-date for the Aizen/Shanks patch. I'll update it with new stuff as they come out. SSS-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsSSS-TierWhy SSS-Tier?Location Sukuna Combat Spec/Special Scales With Power• Sukuna and Aizen are about evenly matched but I prefer Sukuna even though it has lower burst damage because it has better combos • The light combos with Sukuna are some of the best in the game since the M1 is so good and has range • Plus you get good range on all of your abilities, they're fast and have lower CD than Aizen • You have amazing AOE and damage for PVE farming and the moves can be pretty good in PVP too • Plus that cutscene deals 20k+ damage on max stats with B/A Power • Goes best with Aizen's Outfit/Akaza Beads and ****** race Windmill VillageSukuna Teacher On a hill Aizen Combat Spec/Special Scales With Power• On the other hand Aizen overall does more burst damage with his moves but the CDs are longer than Sukuna • Still it's the highest damage in the game so you'll have no trouble with bosses, PVE farming and PVP • Your range is lower than Sukuna but you have a mobility teleport multi-hit move • Plus, the ****** coffin is massive AOE damage • Goes best with Aizen's Outfit/Akaza Beads and ****** race Huecomundo Aizen TeacherS-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsS-TierWhy S-Tier?Location Akaza Combat Spec/Special Scales With Power• Akaza has some of the best M1s in terms of combat specs and overall his moves deal really good damage • Plus they are all low cooldown so the DPS stacks up quite fast • That said the range is low so you'll struggle a bit in PVP if you don't have good movement or you get kited • That's why I prefer Aizen or Sukuna but don't get me wrong, Akaza is still the top 3 DPS option in the game • Goes best with Aizen's Outfit/Akaza Beads and ****** race Throne IsleAkaza Teacher Dual DaggersSword Scales With Sword• Easily the best Sword in the entire game with DPS that can compete with Combat Specs which are usually the highest DPS in the game • SJW Daggers give you a lot of flexibility since you have high damage, high DPS, good M1s but also good mobility • X is such a great move for PVP to get better mobility and is also decent for PVE • You can easily solo bosses with these just make sure you have the recommended loadout below • Goes best with Reaper Clothes and Arrancar raceRogue TownDual Dagger SellerA-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsA-TierWhy A-Tier?Location ZangetsuSword Scales With Sword• Great AOE damage and range for PVE farming and great for bosses • The moves are a bit slow for PVP though • That said it's got the most damage per move rotation • Goes best with Reaper Clothes and Arrancar raceRogue TownZangetsu Gacha NPC GryphonSword Scales With Sword• Only two moves but they're really fast • Z can deal a fast burst of 10k damage with good Sword Stats and deals more damage than Dark Blade/Yoru Z • X has longer iFrames than Dark Blade X • Great for PVP due to speed and also early-mid-late game farming • Goes best with Reaper Clothes and Arrancar raceWhispering JungleJust walk straight ahead from the mob Quest NPC Light Fruit Scales With Power• The best Fruit/Power in the game both in terms of DPS and mobility • You get really good AOE DPS moves to complement Combat Specs • You also have the best mobility move in the entire game with F allowing you to both move fast and reposition in PVP • It's got worse DPS than Combat Specs and Swords but it's still a good backup to have when your Spec skills are on CD • Goes best with Aizen's Outfit/Akaza Beads and ****** race Rogue TownFruit Gacha NPC 2% chance to dropB-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsB-TierWhy B-Tier?Location Dark BladeSword Scales With Sword• I'm comparing it to Gryphon and it deals lower damage than G's Z but higher damage with X though the iFrames are shorter • The iFrames are really good to exploit in PVP but overall Dark Blade is just a little bit worse end-game than Gryphon so I put it in B • Dark Blade is still the best weapon to rush early to mid game for farming but Zangetsu and SJW Daggers are better for end-game bosses • Goes best with Reaper Clothes and Arrancar raceGlacier IceOn the little ice hill next to Mihawk's Quest NPC Tanjiro's NichirinSword Scales With Sword• Tanjiro's sword has more moves than Dark Blade and Gryphon but they are slower and more awkward to land • Still if you manage to pull out the entire rotation including the cutscene you are dealing more DPS • But in practice Dark Blade and Gryphon are better because they are faster, especially in PVP • So overall Tanjiro can sometimes be better for bosses but I wouldn't really get it since Dark Blade/Gryph are better mid-game and Zangetsu/SJW are better late-game • Goes best with Reaper Clothes and Arrancar raceForge IsleTanjiro's Seller BloodPower Scales With Power• Light is better but Blood is still a great alternative for PVE farming • It's better than Gravity in terms of DPS for bosses even though Gravity has better range and AOE • You also get a movement skill similar to Light with F but slower • Goes best with Aizen's Outfit/Akaza Beads and ****** race Rogue TownFruit Gacha NPC 5% chance to drop SandevistanCombat Spec/Special Scales With Power• The Sandevistan is by far the worst combat spec but when compared to other Powers/Swords it's similar to Tanjiro's Sword • You get more moves than Swords but they are all a bit slow and deal low DPS • This can be good mid game for farming but I would overall just farm towards any of the other Combat Specs • For example, the speed boost is cool but Akaza gets almost 3 times better speed on the final move and much higher DPS • Sandevistan needs a buff badly • Goes best with Aizen's Outfit/Akaza Beads and ****** race Rogue TownDavid NPC He's at the back of the island on a hill next to the waterC-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsC-TierWhy C-Tier?Location Dual KatanaSword Scales With Sword• The best early game farming tool for PVE that you should rush ASAP • Swords are the best farming tools in general and this is the first one you should get after Katana • It's really easy to get if you claim all the codes and farm a little • That said it gets out-DPS-ed by all swords later onSandora Island/Desert IslandBetween the houses and the tower near the island's port KatanaSword Scales With Sword• The first Sword you'll get and what you'll use to farm for Dual Katana • Everyone should start with a Katana to farm other stuff really fast and then you can respec later if you want to use Power-scaling stuffStarting Island Near where you originally spawn GravityFruit Scales With Power• Overall Gravity does have good AOE and range but the DPS is simply worse than Blood and Light • So there's not much point using it other than early game farming if you get lucky and get itRogue TownFruit Gacha NPC 5% chance to drop Combat Melee/Fist Scales With Strength• This are your starting fists that you spawn in with • The only thing that scales with Strength in the entire game for now • Basically they're better than nothing and have more DPS than some Fruits but there's no real point in using them since you have no moves • Still, it's funny how this can out-DPS low-Tier, Fruits and some early-game Swords if you get A StrengthYou spawn with thisD-Tier Swords, Specs & FruitsD-TierWhy D-Tier?Location QuakeFruit Scales With Power• Quake is better than Bomb but it's still not the best since your moves are slow and don't deal that much damage • The only good thing is C which is a massive AOE for PVE farming but only for mobs and not bosses and it's on an incredibly high CD • Just use Blood or LightRogue TownFruit Gacha NPC 30% chance to drop BombFruit Scales With Power• Never use this • Just use Swords to farm either better Fruits or Combat Specs if you want to build Power and then respecRogue TownFruit Gacha NPC 50% chance to dropRogue Piece Race Tier List Image by Destructoid The best race in Rogue Piece goes a long way to boost your DPS based on your build. You get them from Race Rerolls and for some like the ****** race you can use specific items like Muzan's Blood. The two races in S-Tier are almost equal depending on whether you're going for a Sword stat build or a Power stat build. A-Tiers are good alternatives to start the game with but late game you should always aim for S-Tiers. B-Tier is an early game option, C-Tier are almost useless and D don't give buffs. How to Get Race Rerolls: You get them from Codes, by opening Chests and from Fishing. You can get a Fishing rod from the NPC at the starting island's docks and just AFK Fish to farm Race Rerolls (See below for recommended early-mid and late-game races). S-Tier RacesS-Tier RacesWhy S-TierRace Stats ******• ****** and Arrancar are about even with ****** being for Power stat builds and Arrancar being for Sword stat builds • That said ****** has an edge for two reasons • First: Because Combat Specs like Sukuna and Aizen scale with Power and they have the best DPS in the game • Second: If you're a ****** fighting an Arrancar, Arrancar take 25% more damage from your Power stat attacks • This means that you'll be nuking Arrancar players and overall other races with ****** if you have A Power and Sukuna/Aizen • So in short, ****** is the best race in the game even with the 2% instant-death chance• Gains +25% HP • +25% Power stat damage multiplier • If your HP is below 25%, you have a 2% chance to instantly die • You can use the Muzan's Blood item dropped from the Akaza Boss spawned on Throne Isle via the Boss Summoner NPC for a low chance to get this race Arrancar• The counterpart of ****** but for Sword builds • The best part about this race besides the Sword damage boost are the dash iFrames • You get a 0.3 iFrame per dash which can be really strong to avoid some AOE moves • That said your downside is really bad against Power attacks • Still it's the best race in the game for Sword builds• Flash Step: Your dashes have slight iFrames • Higher defense • +25% Sword stat damage multiplier • You take +25% more damage from Power stat attacks • You can use the Hogyoku item dropped from the Aizen Boss on Huecomundo for a low chance to get this raceA-Tier RacesA-Tier RacesWhy A-TierRace Stats Celestial Dragon• Get this race ASAP in the early and mid-game so that you can farm faster towards late game • Once you have some high-tier gear from the tier list above, you can go for ****** or Arrancar • This is the best race in the game early to mid/late for farming• Gains +25% Gems • Gain +25% EXP • Gain +25% Money Cyborg• An okay race to get since the extra HP is useful but this game favors damage more so this is just an alternative to ****** and Arrancar • That said if you don't like the debuffs, Cyborg is perfect but know that it is weaker overall • Scales really well with high Defense• Gains +50% Health • You can use the Hardware Chip item dropped from the David Boss spawned on Throne Island via the Boss Summoner NPC for a low chance to get this raceB-Tier RacesB-Tier RacesWhy B-TierRace Stats Fishman• The swimming part is useless since you'll be air-dashing everywhere anyway • The Defense boost is nice and more useful than all the races below so it's okay if you can't get anything better• Swims faster and has higher defenseC-Tier RacesC-Tier RacesWhy C-TierRace Stats Mink• Overall useless but can sometimes work in your favor for PVP dodging • That said it's not worth it and you should get a higher-tier race• Runs faster and dashes quicker Skypiean• Similar to Mink where it's mostly useless but it can be good in PVP sometimes to dodge attacks or position yourself higher than your opponnet for a move • That said it's not worth it and you should get a higher-tier race• Can use air-jump 3 extra timesD-Tier RacesD-Tier RacesWhy D-TierRace Stats Human• No buffs• No buffsRogue Piece Trait Tier List The best traits in Rogue Piece are really simple to determine since they work as a damage multiplier so the best one is the one with the highest multiplier. In this case this is Limit Breaker but the problem is that it has a 0.1% chance to drop. You get traits from the Trait Reroll NPC in Rogue Town so try to get the best trait that you can. There's no real need for a tier list since they are arranged linearly from highest to lowest (best-to-worst) below: Limit Breaker (Mythical) - Damage x1.75 - Drop Chance 0.1%Shadowborn (Legendary) - Damage x1.45 - Drop Chance 0.5%Strongest One (Legendary) - Damage x1.4 - Drop Chance 0.5%Immortal (Epic) - Damage x1.35 - Drop Chance 2.5%Maestro (Epic) - Damage x1.3 - Drop Chance 2.5%Enforcement (Rare) - Damage x1.25 - Drop Chance 5%Divine (Rare) - Damage x1.2 - Drop Chance 5%Boosted (Uncommon) - Damage x1.1 - Drop Chance 10%Basic (Common) - Damage x1.05 - Drop Chance 10% That's it for my complete Rogue Piece tier list for swords, combat specs, fruits, powers and races. Embark Studios, the developer behind The Finals and the upcoming third-person extraction shooter ARC Raiders, has revealed it currently has two new games in the conceptual phase of development, with one having more "edge" to it and the other being more conventional. Assuming both come to fruition, they are likely still many years away from being revealed, as Embark is currently gearing up to launch ARC Raidersfor PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 30. Post-launch sales of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds, the sequel to its best-selling game of all-time, continued their decline in the company’s latest financial results. According to Capcom’s results for the three months ended September 30, 2025, Wilds sold just 160k units during the *******. That’s fewer than in the previous quarter, when the game sold 477k units, which Capcom called “soft”, and which influenced a drop in its stock price. In terms of units, Monster Hunter Wilds only barely made Capcom’s top ten for the quarter, selling fewer copies than Street Fighter 6, ****** May Cry HD Collection, and even Monster Hunter Rise. However, these games have been heavily discounted, leading to Capcom’s highest ever catalogue sales for the first half of a fiscal year. Read More... View the full article
The Lost Ark team reassures players that it's got plenty on the horizon moving into 2026 as publisher Amazon Games shuts down development on some of its other MMORPGs. Mass layoffs of approximately 14,000 jobs at the company have resulted in "significant role reductions" for its Irvine and San Diego studios, halting much of its first-party triple-A and MMO development, including the end of content updates for New World: Aeternum. That has naturally led to questions about Lost Ark's future. Read the rest of the story... If you'd told me over a year ago that a rather dismal chase card from Pokémon TCG's Obsidian Flames would surge in price and hit over $100 in average sales, I'd have scoffed at you. Despite liking the card myself, the Charizard ex #223 SIR is arguably one of the Scarlet & Violet era's most underwhelming chases, and the consensus across the collecting community was a resounding 'meh'. The developer of Arc Raiders isn't worried about coming out between Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: ****** Ops 7, insisting: "we believe the game can launch there." Arc Raiders ended its recent 'Server Slam' playtest with big player numbers on Steam, suggesting a strong launch ahead of its October 30 release date. It hit a peak concurrent player count of 189,668, making it one of the most-played games on Valve’s platform the weekend it ran and the biggest extraction shooter ever on Steam. That said, with the full release slated for tomorrow, which happens to be between the launch dates of two of the world's biggest FPS franchises, Embark Studios CEO Patrick Soderlund admitted some people may wonder "what the hell are they doing?" “I know. The insanity,” Soderlund told The Game Business. “People may look at that [Arc Raiders' release date] and say, ‘What the hell are they doing?’ We have spent a lot of time looking at this from multiple angles and you know, for right or wrong, we believe that the game can launch there. This is the start of a long journey. It needs to start somewhere.” As for whether or not the game's huge playtest was enough to retain players for a full release? “I think it comes down to not being complacent enough to believe that we can build something without making a meaningful impact or innovation," Soderlund said. "We have to bring something so that people pay attention. And if we’ve done a good enough job, maybe they’ll stick around. But in order for them to break away from what they’re already playing, there needs to be an attraction. “A couple of years ago, I was concerned about Arc Raiders and whether it would find its market. So, when we launched the technical test, which was earlier in the spring, we were just blown away by how many people played it. We obviously tried our best to market it, but it became one of those things that just spread virally. We were humbled by that. It’s testament to the work that the team has done building something that is complicated, yet accessible. Something that is easy to play, yet has a lot of gameplay depth.” Arc Raiders' design director has said it was fortuitous timing to have its extraction shooter launch a playtest around the same time as Bungie's Marathon, calling it "a great A/B test for us." In an interview last week, Virgil Watkins said: "It was very coincidental that they had their test around the time we did. To my knowledge, I don't think any of us knew that was going to happen. It was a very great A/B test for us, because obviously, they made decisions that we didn't, and vice versa. So we could kind of compare and contrast how some of those things shook out." Embark Studios' previous game, free-to-download competitive shooter The Finals, is still going, although its concurrent player numbers on Steam are a far cry from those during its explosive launch back in December 2023. Amazon is walking away from making new content from its MMO, New World, amid huge layoffs affecting 14,000 roles at the company. Now, there is concern over the status of its The Lord of the Rings MMO. Yesterday, October 28, Amazon confirmed cuts affecting an eye-watering 14,000 roles. It’s one of the biggest round of layoffs the tech giant has ever seen, and comes at a time when other companies in the tech sector, such as Microsoft and Meta, have made similarly huge cuts. It also comes at a time when Amazon is performing well. So why are they happening? AI, basically. In a note to employees, Beth Galetti, Senior Vice President of People Experience and Technology at Amazon, said: Some may ask why we’re reducing roles when the company is performing well. Across our businesses, we're delivering great customer experiences every day, innovating at a rapid rate, and producing strong business results. What we need to remember is that the world is changing quickly. This generation of AI is the most transformative technology we’ve seen since the Internet, and it's enabling companies to innovate much faster than ever before (in existing market segments and altogether new ones). We’re convinced that we need to be organized more leanly, with fewer layers and more ownership, to move as quickly as possible for our customers and business. What does this all mean for Amazon’s gaming business? According to a report by Bloomberg, nothing good. There are “significant” cuts coming to Amazon’s video game operation, which will reduce development work and layoff staff mainly in its Irvine and San Diego offices. The New World changes are a part of that, and while the game will remain online during 2026, this is basically the beginning of the end for once hugely popular MMO. Let’s remember, New World was a rare hit for Amazon in the video game space, and followed multiple flops that resulted in game and studio closures. The MMO set in an alternate 1600s America saw huge player numbers on Steam, with a whopping 913,634 peak concurrents on Valve's platform back in 2021. Player numbers have significantly declined since that peak, however. Bloomberg said Amazon is cutting back especially on MMOs, but will continue to develop Amazon Games Montreal’s strategy March of Giants, its new Tomb Raider game in the works at Crystal Dynamics, and "casual and AI-focused games" for its cloud gaming service Luna. *** studio Maverick Games will continue to work on its racing game, too. Amazon Games also continues to publish externally developed games such as Lost Ark and Throne & Liberty in western markets. Amazon is also working on an in-house The Lord of the Rings MMO, although we haven’t heard much about it since it was announced in 2023. In August last year, Amazon Games boss Christoph Hartmann told IGN the company had 10 games in development and was negotiating "a couple more." These include Tomb Raider and The Lord of the Rings MMO, as well as the new driving game from the former developers behind Forza Horizon. On The Lord of the Rings MMO, however, Hartmann insisted it was still early days. "We're still trying to find the hook, find that idea of what it is because we don't just want to go and do the same thing over," Hartmann said at the time. "While it's tempting sometimes with an existing IP, that's not the point of doing it. You've got to find a fresh twist, and we're still, I think, in that ******* where we really want to find out what could be the hook, what could be the thing which is different to all the other games out there. So it's a little bit early.” IGN has asked Amazon for an update on The Lord of the Rings MMO. There are also plenty of questions around Tomb Raider, which has been caught up in the mire around the Embracer Group. Hartmann mostly waved off those concerns, saying that developer Crystal Dynamics is "fairly sheltered from everything going on with Embracer." "People obviously look at what the parent company is doing, but it never impacted on resources, never led to any changes on management for them, so they're fine. I mean, doing a new Tomb Raider, the bar is so high. The longer you go, the expectation goes higher, so it's a huge, huge task, but things are progressing. I mean, there's some really great ideas here," Hartmann said. "Obviously, we're not going to share any with you even if we would love to, but things are going well, things are moving forward. And from what I could tell, Crystal was pretty sheltered, because also when you look before...they went through a couple of ownership changes anyway before, it's not brand new for them." Crystal Dynamics recently laid off a number of workers following Microsoft’s cancelation of the Perfect Dark reboot. At the time, the studio insisted Tomb Raider was still in development and unaffected by the decision. Crystal Dynamics was originally brought in to revitalize Perfect Dark after struggles getting the project moving with former co-developer, Certain Affinity. Crystal was later acquired by the Embracer Group in 2022, at which time the studio was revealed to have 273 employees across its Austin, Bellevue, and San Mateo offices. Crystal laid off 10 people in 2023, and laid off 17 more people earlier this year. It's unclear how many remain now. Wesley is Director, News at IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi is once again championing the infamous "yellow paint" to guide players, saying "there is definitely a need" for it. Using yellow paint on ledges and walls to indicates a traversable area in a video game has been a hot topic among players ever since its rise in popularity in the likes of Uncharted on PlayStation 3. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth uses this tactic too, with players sharing their thoughts on it and leaving Hamaguchi himself surprised about the debate it stirred at the time. In a new interview with GamesRadar+, Hamaguchi said he understood there are some people who don't want or need the yellow paint, but insisted that it was necessary. "I get there is a debate about that, whether that fits with that world or not, whether some people want it, some people don't," Hamaguchi said. "I think as a game, there is definitely a need for that kind of thing in a lot of ways. I think obviously different developers experiment, try different things about what works best, what fits best, the right way of doing that in their game." "The need to guide players around from from a gameplay perspective and show them what can be done, what they need to do, there is definitely times where that is needed," he added. "So I think obviously there is more of a debate about how it's done, what level and what works. And there'll still be people who say, 'No, that doesn't fit at all. We don't like that.' That's fine, but I think there is definitely a need there, and it's something that is definitely worth looking at." When the yellow paint debate kicked off with Rebirth last year, some said they didn't like how in-your-face the hand-holding was not just in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but modern video games. Others, however, pointed out that it could be helpful, and was an important accessibility feature. Developers, too, weighed in, with some highlighting how in playtests and focus groups, players sometimes struggle to work out where to go, get frustrated, and quit playing altogether. Because of this, somewhat obvious and sometimes unrealistic visual clues are needed to help point players in the right direction. And some have pointed out that video games have featured visual clues for exploration and progression for decades now. With discussion around the yellow paint in FF7R, who remembers the options red/green arrows plus giant pointer available in the original FF7? [Hidden Content] — John Linneman @dark1x.bsky.social (@dark1x) February 11, 2024 Based on Hamaguchi's comments, perhaps fans can expect the yellow paint to return for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. Speaking of which, Square Enix said last year that its goal was to see the finale launch by 2027. Excitement for the third and final chapter in the trilogy grew even more when the team revealed that it had completed its story earlier this year. Most recently, Hamaguchi clarified comments that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 would "strike a balance" when it came to pacing and be "more concise," insisting didn't mean he would cut any content from the game. While we wait, find out why the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 team “will not cheat” when it comes to Final Fantasy 7’s iconic airship. And as for if Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 will have turn-based combat? Hamaguchi said it had not been "pre-determined yet" despite the success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which boasts traditional JRPG-inspired turn-based combat and recently confirmed sales of 5 million copies in five months.
