  1. Wizards of the Coast has signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Giant Skull, the studio led by Star Wars Jedi director Stig Asmussen, to create a new Dungeons and Dragons game. The project is set to be a single-player action-adventure game, and sounds like a clear reaction to the immense success of Baldur's Gate 3. Before you start holding out hope for Baldur's Gate 4, though, early signs already point to this being a very different experience. Read the rest of the story... 4. Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks has unveiled its new-look website and confirmed its working on an "unannounced action game." The site — which shows new branding and a careers page recruiting for new roles for an unannounced project — states Tango Gameworks' core mission is to "create new games and expand intellectual properties" as an "independent development studio based in Tokyo, Japan" under the Krafton umbrella. In May 2024, Microsoft announced it had closed a number of Bethesda studios, including Tango Gameworks and Redfall's Arkane Austin. The news was met with shock and anger by developers and fans alike, especially after Microsoft executive Aaron Greenberg had previously said Hi-Fi Rush was a "breakout hit for [Xbox] and [its] players in all key measurements and expectations." PUBG publisher Krafton then acquired Tango Gameworks and the Hi-Fi Rush IP from Microsoft back in August 2024, saving the studio from being shut down. Krafton shared the news in a press release alongside confirming that, "as part of this strategic agreement, Krafton intends to collaborate with Xbox and ZeniMax to ensure a smooth transition and maintain continuity at Tango Gameworks, allowing the talented team to continue developing the Hi-Fi Rush IP and explore future projects." "Finally, after months of waiting, Tango Gameworks is back, and in a brand-new way," the studio's new website states. "We’ve opened our site to give our fans and future team members a look into our studio. Here you can learn about the studio philosophy, as well as see featurettes from members of the team. "Since joining Krafton, Tango Gameworks embarks on a new chapter, developing titles that resonate with players around the world," the company added. "We remain dedicated to the creation and growth of distinctive and new IPs, taking on challenges to be a unique voice in the game industry." Tango added that its vision is "centered on a studio that acts like a creative workshop, making games and experiences that emphasize that 'hand-made' feel we put into our work." As for what that new game may be? That's difficult to call right now. A news post published earlier today says Tango "aren’t ready to reveal much yet," but "has a number of positions open for early work on an unannounced action game." "The positions span almost every department, so if you are interested in working with the team behind such hit releases as Hi-Fi Rush, read up on our studio philosophy." According to a machine translation of the senior-level designer position, Tango is looking for someone with "experience developing 3D action games" in Unreal Engine 5. The cutscene manager job similarly calls for 3D action game experience, but doesn't give us any other clues for now. Could it be Hi-Fi Rush 2? With Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian now off doing their own thing and making multiple games that aren't Baldur's Gate 4, BG IP owners Wizards of the Coast have just revealed something that might help fill that void. 8. We've officially hit the meta era of board games thanks to Tabletop Inc., a board game that's quite literally about the act of designing board games. It's a charming bit of board-game-ception, though perhaps not the most accurate recreation given how rapidly the industry is changing right now. Still, tariffs and crowdfunding politics aside, it's a unique and appealing theme. Tabletop Inc. also, thankfully, has quality gameplay to back it up - even if it's not going to revolutionize the worker placement genre. Read the rest of the story... View the full article
  9. There are many different occults you can play as in The Sims 4, but the big one that has been missing since launch is Fairies. After years of waiting, Fairies have officially been confirmed and are expected to be arriving fairly soon with a new pack release in the coming months. During the Hotties Play The Sims livestream that aired on May 30, a short teaser featuring a tiny house was shared right near the end of the broadcast. It's a pretty small moment, but the implications are massive when combined with all of the other teasers the Sims team has been dropping. Screenshot by Destructoid In The Sims 3: Supernatural, all Fairies can freely use fairy houses to throw parties, sleep, eat, and take care of just about any other needs they have. These houses are all miniature-sized and perched on top of tree logs. They look pretty much identical to the one featured in the short teaser for The Sims 4, and the clip also highlights the return of the house party feature as music is coming from inside while the house shakes around just like it did in The Sims 3. We're due for a new pack sometime soon since the most recent one, which was Businesses & Hobbies, launched on March 6. It's unknown whether we'll be getting an expansion pack, game pack, or stuff pack next, though. Most occults have dedicated game packs, like Vampires and Werewolves, but Ghosts arrived as part of Life & Death, so it'll likely be one of these two pack types. In addition to the video teaser, there's also a website that's receiving consistent updates with new teasers for the upcoming Fairy-related pack. This website is called Something is growing, and so far it features a green landscape with a gnome, some fruits, and a quaint cottage. Screenshot by Destructoid This website also mentions getting lost in "natural living" and has a description that reads, "You wake up under the stars and see other Sims meeting their needs outdoors without beds or plumbing. You’re hungry, but you spot some delicious-looking mushrooms by a tree. Looks like you’ll sustain yourself just fine." If you click over to the second page of the website, a town named Innisgreen is revealed. This is expected to be the name of the world in the upcoming pack. This page mentions living in "harmony with nature" and "a grove where nature and civilization blend together" with "an enchanting magical forest." So far, these are the only official details for the upcoming pack. But there are also several leaks providing some potential extra information about what the next pack will look like. None of this has been confirmed by The Sims team, so take all of it with a grain of salt. Back on May 20, Instant Gaming posted a leak for a pack called Enchanted by Nature. This potential leak has since been removed, but this website also leaked past packs like For Rent and Life & Death ahead of their release, so they do have a solid track record so far. Screenshot by Destructoid This leak includes some key pack details, and Fairies are by far the biggest one. The description also mentions a Natural Living skill, Ailments, Apothecary, and Naturopathy. This alleged pack has a strong focus on nature and surviving anywhere in the world with only what's around you. According to the pack leak, Fairies can lean into being mischievous and grant Sims Ailments or choose to focus on nature and build gardening-related abilities. There are no other details about what powers Fairies have, but it sounds like they'll probably have a skill tree similar to the one most occults have. The teaser that aired during the livestream also revealed that a trailer is scheduled for June 12, so we'll learn much more about this upcoming release then. 10. Game Freak and Nintendo have finally released a short trailer showing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet running on the Nintendo Switch 2, and it looks like an entirely different game. The 30-second trailer was put on the Nintendo Today app this morning and follows a few screenshots released by Game Freak a few weeks ago that showed a bunch of new Pokémon. Giving trainers a first look at the Paldea region running on the Switch 2, following a Switch 2 day one update set to release on June 5. [Hidden Content] For anyone who has played the Nintendo Switch versions of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the difference is astounding when you watch the trailer and then go to those areas to see how the game runs right now. It seems like the game is running at 60 FPS with very little frame drops, and the amount of Pokémon spawning in some areas is completely staggering. Casseroya Lake was the part that really showcased just how better the game runs on Switch 2. Anyone who goes to that area in the Switch version knows the game chugs when spawning in Pokémon and is an overhaul nightmare to roam around. So, seeing the 20+ Pokémon and the character freely going around the area with little drops has sold me on this update. Though it also makes me a little salty that this isn't how the game runs normally. A part of me still wants to see it to believe it, and when I get time from playing all the new games coming out this week, I feel I'll need to jump back in and give this update a test drive. Especially when Shiny hunting for some Pokémon that were a nightmare to try and find. The trailer also doesn't show off any of the DLC areas, so I'm curious what those also look like. Either way, it looks like a step in the right direction and looks to finally make the games play better than ever before. Bring on the new system! 11. The Parks Fest event has an array of complex duties for you to complete in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One of the many tasks you'll encounter as you work through this event is Mine Time!, and it doesn't give you any information about how to complete it. The title of this duty is pretty misleading and can easily lead to you tackling the wrong task. There's only one way to get this one done, so here's how to complete Mine Time! in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Table of contentsHow to complete the Mine Time! duty in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHow to craft Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHow to unlock Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket in Disney Dreamlight ValleyMine Time! reward in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHow to complete the Mine Time! duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid To complete the Mine Time! duty in DDV, you need to craft one Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket. The name of this task can be a bit misleading, as you might expect you need to tackle some mining around the valley to get it done. Instead, this hint is actually a reference to the item you need to make. In Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the dwarves regularly venture into the mines and use a minecart to get around. For this duty, you need to make a popcorn bucket version of their minecart. No actual mining of rock nodes or Gems is necessary to get this task done. How to craft Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket in Disney Dreamlight Valley To make the Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket, you need to gather plenty of Parks Fest Buttons. There are four specific color variants you need to make this item, including Green Buttons, Blue Buttons, Red Buttons, and Purple Buttons. Here's how many you need of each type and how to earn them. ButtonAmountHow to getGreen Button40Earned by finishing daily and weekly Parks Fest event quests.Blue Button15Can be fished out of white bubble spots around the Peaceful Meadow and Dazzle Beach biomes as long as Park Fest is active.Red Button10Can be found anywhere in the wild around the valley near both villagers' and players' homes. You can find this resource in any classic biome, including the Plaza, Peaceful Meadow, Dazzle Beach, Glade of Trust, Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights, and Forgotten Lands.Purple ButtonFiveCan be crafted using one Blue Button, two Red Buttons, and 100 Dreamlight. Like all popcorn buckets, this one requires a lot of resources. If you don't want to gather all of the items required, you might consider using the Uncrafting Station to disassemble other buckets so you can make this one. To use this machine, you need to unlock the Cheshire Cat and complete his friendship level seven The Uncrafting Station quest. It takes a while to get both done, but it might be worth it if you aren't up for gathering the required Buttons. How to unlock Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket in Disney Dreamlight Valley You can unlock the crafting recipe for the Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket by completing Scrooge McDuck's mining-related event quests. He has four event quests for you to work through, all of which task you with mining specific minerals around the valley. Dreamlight Parks Fest: Dig ItHang out with Scrooge McDuck and mine 10 Gems. Dreamlight Parks Fest: OvalsHang out with Scrooge McDuck and mine five oval-shaped Gems.Dreamlight Parks Fest: RectanglesHang out with Scrooge McDuck and mine five rectangular-shaped Gems. Dreamlight Parks Fest: ShiniesHang out with Scrooge McDuck and mine three shiny Gems. He'll have additional quests in this series available every two days, and you have to tackle all of them to unlock the recipe for making this item. Mine Time! reward in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid Completing the Mine Time! duty for the Parks Fest event unlocks two rewards, which are the Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket furniture item and the Mine Cart Handheld Popcorn Bucket accessory item. Visually, both items look identical, but they can be used in two different ways. The furniture version of this item can be placed anywhere you can decorate, including the valley and all homes you own. The accessory variant can be equipped on all outfits and carried around as you traverse through the valley. There are plenty of other popcorn buckets you can make throughout this event. If you're interested in collecting all of them, consider working on Oh, Bother, Craftily Ever After, Destination: Imagination, A Shining Icon, and Stitch-y Situation next. 12. SurrounDead is finally having its moment on Steam, smashing its old peak player count nearly three years after its release. 14. Elden Ring Nightreign has a load of excellent legendary weapons modeled after some of the most iconic weapons from the original Elden Ring. These weapons and their associated skills will be more than familiar to fans of the franchise, but legendary weapons aren't quite as straightforward to track down in Nightreign. Picking up a legendary weapon is essentially a matter of luck in Nightreign, but when you do get one that you can actually use, it will increase your chances of reaching and defeating the Night Lord considerably.
