How often do you drive your cars in BitLife? I know I've tried to create massive luxury car collections with rich characters, but I've only experimented with driving around a handful of times. During BitLife's Speed ****** challenge, that changes completely. Table of contentsBitLife Speed ****** challenge guideBe born a male in Los AngelesSteal five or more carsDrive fast around downtown LAShake the cops while drivingRob a bankBitLife Speed ****** challenge guide BitLife's Speed ****** challenge has five objectives to complete: Be born a male in Los AngelesSteal five or more carsDrive fast around downtown LAShake the cops while drivingRob a bank You won't need the racing expansion to finish this challenge. However, having the ****** special career pack for the criminal special talent can help make several of these tasks easier. Nonetheless, this is optional, and it's still entirely possible to complete this without the help of any packs. Be born a male in Los Angeles Our first task of BitLife's Speed ****** challenge is to create a character born in Los Angeles. To do this, select 'Male' as your gender before choosing the United States as your starting country and Los Angeles as your place. Screenshot by Destructoid Since this challenge revolves around driving, you won't need to worry about your stats or special talents. Having the criminal special talent can make car theft and bank robbery tasks much easier, but you're not required to use it if you don't own the prerequisite pack. Steal five or more cars Speaking of crime, it's time to take some cars. You can take cars by heading into Activities, Crime, and Grand Theft Auto. From here, your goal is to steal five cars without getting caught by BitLife's police. For the most part, this is pretty simple. There's a chance the car's owner will come by and confront you or that your character will struggle with stealing the vehicle. If this happens, it's generally safer to leave it, age up, and try again with more cars. Aside from that, what you do with the cars is up to you. However, I recommend keeping at least one for the next task. Drive fast around downtown LA Screenshot by Destructoid Now that you have some cars, it's time to start driving. To do this, head into Assets, select your vehicle, and pick Drive to encounter a pop-up menu for your driving options. You'll need to pick "over the speed limit," followed by "downtown" as your destination. I wouldn't suggest bringing any passengers, but it's up to you. Shake the cops while driving All kinds of interactions can happen while driving. The one we're looking for is the police chasing after you. When this happens, try to drive away to give yourself a chance to shake them. Screenshot by Destructoid Odds are, you probably won't succeed on your first try. If you do, great—that makes one of the toughest parts of this challenge much easier. Otherwise, you can close and restart your BitLife app or accept the consequences and try again in the future. Rob a bank The final task of BitLife's Speed ****** challenge is to rob a bank. Head back into the Crime menu before picking Bank Robbery. Your bank, weapon, and disguise are entirely up to you: what matters is that you're successful in your attempt. Like the previous task, this one has a somewhat high chance of failing. It's entirely luck-based, leaving you to either accept your fate after receiving the result or close and reopen the game if you fail. As long as you have one successful outcome, you'll knock out this task and complete BitLife’s Speed ****** challenge. The world of Hagga Basin in Dune Awakening is not filled with riches, so it is crucial to master the art of trading to always have some spare Solaris in your inventory. The new MMO offers a lot of trading freedom: you can choose between AI-controlled vendors and other human players. When you start playing the game, your options will be pretty limited. Let's quickly take a look at how to buy and sell items like an expert to increase your wealth. We will explore your trading options against the AI first, as that's much easier to manage. How to purchase and sell items in Dune Awakening from Trading Posts Trading Posts will introduce you to the world of buying and selling items in Dune Awakening. They're available in every major region (including the one where we begin our adventures). These posts have a merchant located over there at all hours. You can check out what items are on offer and purchase them by simply paying the required Solaris. You can also sell the items in your inventory, and the merchant will pay you the offered price. However, there's a catch, as the cost of any commodity depends on the forces of supply and demand. You won't earn much if you're trying to sell too many of the same item at a location. Similarly, certain locations will have an affinity towards a specific type of item, and the merchant there will be willing to pay extra. Screenshot by Destructoid Once you reach a Trading Post at a location, you'll come across a Contract Board. Accept the job, and it will lead you to the Trading Post in the next area. Can you trade with other players in Dune Awakening You can trade with other players just like with AI-controlled merchants. The basic premise is the same, but you'll have to visit The Exchange—which is essentially the player-managed market. To do so, you must visit the Social Hubs (found at Harko Village and Arrakeen). Let's check out the full process in the next section. How to buy and sell at The Exchange in Dune Awakening You'll have to speak with the Taxi NPCs to reach the social hubs. These NPCs can be found at all the Trading Posts, and they will charge you a 2,500 Solaris fee. You won't have to go through this once you get an Ornithopter. Screenshot by Destructoid Go to the CHOAM Exchange Store at the Social Hub. You'll find something called a sales terminal; interact with it, and you'll be able to find many items listed by other players that you can buy. You can also list your items and price them as you want. Again, be aware of the market's asking rate so that you have better chances of selling your products. You will also come across NPC vendors who sell unique vehicle parts, rare resources, and more. Typically, these items aren't found at the Trading Posts, but they also cost more Solaris, so managing your resources is a matter. Dune Awakening has different ways to test your survivability, and using a Stillsuit in certain situations can be the difference between life and death. This special type of armor (if we can call it that) has a unique arrangement that allows you to generate water passively during your adventures. It's a perfect solution for beginners to manage all their water needs while away from their bases. Moreover, there are multiple options to pick from as you unlock more blueprints. All Stillsuit options in Dune Awakening Every Stillsuit has four parts: Body, Boots, Gloves, and Masks (slightly different from armor), and Fabricators make them. It takes a bit of time for you to research a Fabricator. Once done, you can manufacture Stillsuit parts with the correct resources. These two items aren't part of a set directly (yet to verify if there are other parts). The Hollower Stillsuit Gloves offer 19 Armor, and so do the Hollower Stillsuit Boots. These two items are the best Stillsuit Gloves and Boots, respectively, when it comes to defense. Are Stillsuits worth using in Dune Awakening? Compared to Light Armor and Heavy Armor, Stillsuits don't provide too much protection. They have armor values, but Light and Heavy Armors offer more protection. If you're traveling longer distances, it's better to use a Stillsuit. You'll need water on your journey, and Stillsuits create the resource passively. If you're expecting fights and combat, switch to your Light or Heavy Armor. Managing your water levels should be your secondary priority, as you should focus more on protecting your health from the enemy's attack. New multiplayer FPS Splitgate 2 is facing a negative response among its player base for expensive microtransactions introduced with its full launch. The fast-paced arena shooter, which uses portals to allow quick traversal around its maps, was launched out of beta during the Summer Game Fest showcase, but has been met with criticism over its new battle royale mode and pricey cosmetics in the wake of 1047 Games co-founder Ian Proulx's on-stage appearance, where he spoke of being "tired of playing the same Call of Duty every year." Fortnite has just wrapped up its latest explosive live event, detonating the Death Star looming over the Island and welcoming DC Comics hero Superman in the process. Tonight's event, Death Star Sabotage, saw nearly 6 million players infiltrate the Empire's fully operational battle station that has hovered menacingly over the Fortnite battle royale Island throughout its Star Wars mini-season. Happily, and perhaps unsurprisingly, players were able to stop the station's deadly space laser from obliterating the game's map — although not without causing a bit of damage in the process. As destruction rained down, the event's closing moments saw Superman arrive — presumably to try and help with clean up duties during the game's incoming superhero-themed season, which begins in just a few hours' time. Fortnite's big Star Wars event began in orbit around the game's battle royale Island, giving players a rare glimpse at the game's setting from outside its usual boundaries. Fortnite's setting exists as a bubble of reality floating through the multiverse (which handily allows any character from any franchise to turn up at any time!) and here, players were able to pilot X-Wings and TIE-Fighters to blow up orbiting Star Destroyers and engage in fun dogfights. In the continued absence of a Star Wars: Battlefront 3, this was a fun riff on its space battles to get things started. The action then swiftly moved to within the Death Star itself, as Fortnite heroes Jonesy (Troy Baker) and Hope (Suzie Yeung) led players through the bowels of the station, initially disguised as Stormtroopers and their captives. Ultimately, players found themselves in an encounter with Star Wars' Emperor (was that the voice of Sheev Palpatine himself, Ian McDiarmid?), and able to escape the Death Star as it exploded. In a nod to Fortnite's 2021 live event Operation Sky Fire (which also ended in a space station exploding above the game's Island), players were initially left to celebrate their victory — until the realisation that huge flaming chunks of said space station were now raining down on their battle royale home. And here, one of these chunks smashed straight into the glowing Rift Gate used to access the spirit realm by Fortnite's current antihero Daigo, unleashing its untold power. The event's final moments see players back on the Island, mysterious energy now crackling around them. (Will this be the explanation for why superpowers now exist in the next battle royale season? Quite possibly.) Meanwhile, Superman is seen watching the Island from afar, as it is flooded by spirit realm energy. The suggestion here, of course, is that Superman will be swooping in to help. Fortnite will, for the first time, follow up a major live event with a new season launch on the same day. Following the conclusion of Death Star Sabotage, Fortnite is currently in downtime, but will return with Chapter 6: Season 3 in just a few hours' time. As you might expect from Superman's arrival, this next season will indeed be superhero themed — and as eagle-eyed players have noticed, this is indeed the new version played by David Corenswet from James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie. That's some well-timed brand synergy! While highly anticiapated, Fortnite's Star Wars season saw some of the game's lowest player numbers in some time — perhaps in response to its daring decision to remove all regular weapons (and all ammo!) and fully commit to a five-week ******* of Star Wars gunplay. It will be interesting to see how player numbers rebound with the launch of this new season later today. Last week, Fortnite developer Epic Games announced it would be making Star Wars in-game assets available to creators to build their own experiences in a galaxy far, far away in the not too far off future. While enjoyable, tonight's live event did also feel at some points like something of a showcase for that, while including a few morsels for fans of the game's ongoing narrative. Want to watch the whole of Fortnite's Death Star Sabotage for yourself? You can find a recording of the full live event mission below, or Epic Games has a 4K quality version on YouTube. Dune: Awakening is a massive game with some incredibly deep systems that require a bit of knowledge to master, which explains why its opening tutorials are so extensive. It can take upwards of ten hours for some players to complete all the different tutorial-type missions, and while this might seem like a lot, the game successfully explains its various moving parts to make things much more approachable. At times, these tutorials try to hold the player's hand just a little more than they need to, but you'll ultimately benefit in the long term from powering through. View the full article
While there are quite a few ongoing games and future projects in the works using the Marvel IP, Arc System Works surprised everyone with the reveal of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a 2D tag-team fighting game. Following in the wake of Marvel Rivals, it seems that Disney is content to lend the heroes and villains of Marvel to Eastern developers, and Arc System Works is one of the best possible choices for fighting games. While not as famous outside the genre, Arc System Works is famed for the consistent quality of its fighting games, and Marvel Tōkon doesn't seem like an exception. View the full article

Remember Toem? That was a bloody lovely game. I'm always partial to a game where photography is the core mechanic, there's such a specific joy in navigating a space attempting to capture a fracture of its essence. Photo modes just aren't the same, I want someone to textually give me a camera and send me on my way. A sequel was announced last year, quite simply called Toem 2, and during yesterday's Day of the Devs, some gameplay was shown off for the first time. Read more View the full article
The build-up to Build a Rocket Boy’s debut release has been a confusing one at times. When it was announced that Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies had formed a new Edinburgh studio, it took so long for the company to show its hand that speculation ran rife, with some certain that its first title would be focused around NFTs (as was the trend at the time). When the studio finally opened its doors to the media in early 2023, I was in attendance in its Leith office to get the first proper details on Everywhere, its ambitious Fortnite-like metaverse. If we're being honest with ourselves, the original PSP was a sort of Proto-Switch too, no? As in it was home to a lot of odd, smaller-scope games that not many other platforms might have featured outside of Nintendo's earlier handhelds. Patapon was one such tiny oddity, one of the most charming games on the platform, if not to ever outright exist. It did go on to get a couple of sequels, but the series (outside of an upcoming remaster of the first two) is sort of dead. Luckily, Ratatan, a spiritual successor from Patapon's creator is here to satisfy your tiny-guy-chanting-to-music needs with a newly revealed release date! Read more View the full article
