As it lifts the lid on its new Bond game, 007: First Light, developer IO Interactive wants to be clear that it still isn't done with Hitman: World of Assassination. At Summer Game Fest, we spoke with senior level designer Martin Ansdal, who is primarily working on the stealth game's limited-time Elusive Target missions, about the new LeChiffre event and Hitman's unique path to where it is today. After a tumultuous nine-year stretch that saw IO part ways with publisher Square Enix, briefly work with WB Games for Hitman 2, and then ultimately self-publish for the third entry, Ansdal tells us that there's still much more to come. Lies of P is one of few soulslikes to really prove that it belongs side by side with Fromsoftware. Neowiz's gothic retelling of the story of Pinocchio certainly has some Bloodborne DNA in there, but the game easily steps beyond these comparisons the more you play it. So whether you're in the midst of Elden Ring Nightreign or Dark Souls, a detour to Krat is certainly worth your time. Turns out a lot of other players think so, too, as with the new Overture DLC and a free update hitting the game, Lies of P is suddenly the most popular it's ever been on Steam. The teaser briefly squeaked its way to the sunlight on Focus's Threads account before being swiftly shooed back into its hole, but the rapscallions over at the gaming leaks and rumours subreddit grabbed the details. Of course, we don't say rapscallions here. We say rapspringonions. Here's the trailer, via our great mates Eurogamer. Read more View the full article

I've been playing through all the Grand Theft Auto titles again recently, and even when I was younger, I always wanted an answer to one aspect that confused me. This mystery started in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and has continued into all future titles. Most open worlds in video games have a cut-off point on the map where you can't progress further, and this is usually due to terrain. View the full article

Whoever said there's dignity in defeat has never played Madame Cyclone's brutal side-scrolling shooter, Omut. While there's maybe some dignity in racking up five or six deaths to a punishing boss, perishing 300 times in 45 minutes to Omut's first big bad stripped me of every ounce of self-respect I had. And yet, I kept coming back for more, every time edging slightly closer to victory and falling short before resurrecting immediately for just "one more try." While this is partly down to pride, it's also because Omut's surreal, pixelated world is so downright bizarre and intoxicating that I need to see more. The fact that you have to seriously work for it makes it all the more tantalizing. Read the rest of the story... Day of the Devs: Summer Edition 2025 might already be over but it's left a lasting impact on me for all the lovely indie games that got revealed, but it was one returning indie game that tugged at my heartstrings after months of waiting to hear more from it, and of course it got delayed by a year. Big Walk, from House House, has been a game I have wanted to learn more about for a while now. It's the team that gave us Untitled Goose Game, and the weird mystery surrounding its setting, visuals, and gameplay had alluded us until the reveal gameplay overview trailer dropped. [Hidden Content] It's a simple game premise. You walk around a big map with your friends exploring, completing puzzles, and likely getting lost or separated in the expansive world. The more I see it and hear the ambient music, the more I feel like there is a ******* secret at play here other than 'walk and talk' as the developers have been pitching it. It feels like a game where no two play sessions are the same, where a group of friends can go different paths and discover things at different times. It's also nice to see a game focused on freedom with friends, creative fun moments, and living in the moment. The inclusion of proximity voice chat, so you can actually get lost and have to find each other using tools available to you, is a nice touch. The puzzles briefly shown off also feel wonderful, and really play on this communication-type of game the developers are trying to craft. I'm sorry, I'm gushing now. It looks like the perfect game, and I want to get my hands on it as soon as possible. But of course, I need to wait until next year to finally see if it lives up to my anticipation. After watching the trailer, I just needed a space to gush and talk about what I have seen in hopes someone else will watch the trailer as well and think 'that looks so cool!' To pay back for you listening to my thoughts, I'd love to hear about your own indie game anticipations in the comments below. Let me know if there is something coming up you're excited for, either from Summer Games Fest or as a whole. I want to hear from you! I've generally avoided Bennet Foddy's games, given they are essentially purpose-built frustration generators. But there's something that intrigues me about Baby Steps. Maybe it’s the inherent slapstick comedy built into the concept of a schlub trying to walk up a mountain with physics-empowered feet. Maybe it's the fact it's been co-developed by Gabe Cuzzillo and Maxi Boch, creators of jazzy gorilla slaughterfest Ape Out. Or maybe I just empathise with the concept of a man who doesn't get enough exercise trying to climb a slope... Read more.View the full article
